BLOOD & DEVOTION
QUEEN OF THE CITY
(Dim office. Smell of wine and gunpowder. Amara sits behind the big desk, hair tied back, dark eyes calm but heavy. Kianne enters quietly, locks the door behind her, walks straight to her.)
Kianne
you’ve been sitting here alone for hours. everyone is waiting for you downstairs. why are you still here?
Amara
because the only person i care about is right here. the rest can wait.
Kianne
you rule this whole city. people fear you. you have money, power, everything. but you look so empty sometimes.
Amara
none of that matters. not the money, not the throne, not the fear. i built this empire for one reason only. and that reason is you.
Kianne
me? i’m just your right hand. your shadow.
Amara
you are more than that. you are my heart. you are the only thing keeping me alive. do you know how dangerous this world is? i made myself untouchable… so i could make you untouchable too. so no one would ever hurt you.
Kianne
i don’t care about danger. i have fought for you. i have bled for you. i would die for you, amara. you know that.
Amara
and that is exactly why i worry. because if anything happened to you… i would burn this whole city down. i would kill everyone and everything just to find you.
Kianne
nothing will happen. i am always by your side. i belong to you. body, soul, every bullet in my gun… all yours. forever.
(amara stands up, pulls kianne close until their bodies touch. she touches kianne’s face gently, eyes burning with love and desire.)
Amara
say it again. say you are mine.
Kianne
i am yours. completely. no secrets, no distance. only you.
(amara lifts her easily, sitting her on the desk, knocking everything aside. they kiss — rough, hungry, desperate. clothes fall away. skin against skin. for a while, there is nothing else. no war, no enemies, no lies. just them.)
(later, they lie together on the sofa. amara holds kianne tight, kissing her head softly.)
Amara
i love you. more than life itself.
(kianne closes her eyes, hiding the tear that falls. she holds amara tighter, heart breaking. she knows soon… she will have to leave. she knows she is hiding a secret that will destroy everything.)
TRUST NO ONE
(Two weeks later. Everything is falling apart. Shipments raided, plans leaked, people dead. Amara is furious, pacing the room like a caged lion. Sia sits calmly pouring wine. Kianne stands silent in the corner, face cold but eyes full of pain.)
Amara
How is this happening? every move we make… they know. every secret… they have it. someone is selling us out. someone inside this room.
Sia
Amara, calm down. rage will only blind you. it could be anyone. even the ones you love. sometimes the people closest to us… hide the darkest things.
Sia
Are you sure? love makes you foolish, my dear. it makes you see what you want to see. not what is real.
(amara stops pacing. looks straight at kianne. kianne doesn’t move. her hands are clenched tight at her sides.)
Amara
Kianne… tell me. tell me you would never betray me. tell me i’m crazy for even thinking it.
Kianne
(voice low, flat, hiding everything)
you know where i stand. i have always been on your side.
Sia
See? so cold. so distant. maybe she has too many secrets you don’t know about.
Amara
Stop it! i trust her with my life. i trust her with everything. she would die before hurting me.
(night falls. amara and kianne drive alone to an abandoned warehouse. a message said the traitor would be there. kianne drives fast, silent, gripping the wheel so hard her knuckles turn white.)
Amara
You haven’t spoken all night. what is wrong?
Kianne
Nothing. just… be careful tonight. please.
Amara
We are together. we are unstoppable. remember? you and me against the world. nothing can break us.
Kianne
(whispering, almost crying)
i hope you’re right. i really hope you’re right.
(they step inside the warehouse. suddenly — bright lights turn on. dozens of men surround them. guns raised. everywhere.)
Amara
TRAP! STAY BEHIND ME!
(chaos. gunshots loud as thunder. amara fights like a wild beast — shooting, stabbing, screaming. kianne moves like a shadow — knives flashing, bodies dropping. back to back, they kill every single man. floor soaked red. silence returns.)
Amara
(breathless, laughing wildly)
SEE?! nobody beats us! nobody! we are invincible!
(she turns to kianne. and freezes.)
(kianne stands there. blood splattered on her face. gun raised. pointed straight at amara’s heart. tears streaming down her cheeks.)
Kianne
(voice shaking, broken)
i’m sorry, amara. god… i am so sorry.
Amara
You’re my everything. you promised. you said forever.
Kianne
I had no choice. i never wanted this. forgive me… please forgive me.
(kianne turns. runs into the dark. disappears.)
(amara stands alone. surrounded by dead bodies. heart shattered into a million pieces.)
Amara
(whispering, falling to her knees)
you broke me… you actually broke me.
THE TWIST
(Three days later. Amara locked herself inside her office. Room destroyed — glass broken, furniture overturned, bottles everywhere. She sits on the floor, clothes messy, eyes red and empty. Sia sits beside her, holding her hand, looking sad and comforting.)
Sia
I told you, amara. i warned you not to trust anyone. love makes you blind.
Amara
(voice hoarse, broken)
how could she? how could the only person i ever loved… betray me like this? i gave her everything. everything!
Sia
She was never yours, my dear. she was sent to destroy you from the start. she played you perfectly. but it’s over now. she’s gone. and i am still here. i am the only one who truly cares.
Amara
I hate her… god, i hate her so much… but why does it still hurt? why do i still love her?
Sia
Shh… rest now. i will take care of everything. just sleep. i’m not going anywhere.
(sia stands up, covers amara with a blanket. she smiles — sweet, innocent. but as she turns her back, her eyes are cold, empty, and triumphant. she walks out quietly.)
(hours pass. amara stands up slowly, legs shaking. she walks toward kianne’s old wardrobe in the corner. she hasn’t touched it since she left. she pulls the door open. finds a small leather notebook hidden under old clothes.)
(she opens it. pages filled with kianne’s handwriting. her hands start shaking as she reads aloud to herself.)
Amara
(whispering)
they have my sister… they took mia three months ago. if i don’t give them your locations, they will kill her. i have no choice. i love you, amara. i love you more than life itself. i am betraying you to save her… and it kills me every single day.
(she turns the page. tears falling fast now.)
Amara
The real traitor is not me. it’s sia. sia took mia. sia is blackmailing me. sia leaked all the information. she wants your empire. she wants your throne. she wants you to hate me so she can kill you and take everything.
(last page, written just days ago.)
Amara
I am going to save mia. then i will kill sia myself. wait for me. please… wait for me.
(amara drops the notebook. blood drains from her face. horror, guilt, and rage hit her all at once.)
(she screams, loud and raw. realization crashes down on her.)
Amara
She was innocent all along… she was suffering… she was protecting me… and i hated her. i thought she betrayed me. oh god… what have i done?
(she thinks about everything — every word sia said, every warning, every time she pushed me to doubt kianne. it was all a game. a perfect, cruel game.)
Amara
Sia… you evil bitch. you used my love against me. you made me hate the only good thing in my life. you hurt her. you threatened her family. you played me like a fool.
(she stands up straight. tears stop. her eyes turn dark, cold, deadly. the old amara is back — but ten times more dangerous now.)
Amara
You think you won? you think you took everything from me? you have no idea who you messed with. i will find you. i will find kianne. and i swear… i will make you pay for every single tear you made us cry. every drop of blood. every second of pain.
(she grabs her gun, checks the bullets, straps it to her side. she walks out of the room with fire in her eyes.)
Amara
Game over, sia. now it’s my turn.
