The early sun roared on Kiekie like an angry lion. She hissed. it was morning. She climbed down from the gigantic bed. It was a Saturday morning ,the one she had always dreaded. She wore her cream butterfly slippers the one her mother bought for her.
Then she said her morning prayers hurriedly, and went to the bathroom to do justice to her teeth with her tattered hair swaying behind her.
After brushing, she gently climbed down the
stairs to greet her parents. On arriving at the sitting room, she saw her dad sitting on the couch.
She greeted "Good morning dad' her dad mumbled some reply before she went to greet her mother in the kitchen. Kiekie's mother was a beautiful woman to behold. Her black hair was shimmering under the gaze of the white crescent bulb. The only problem she was facing was her inability to give her beloved husband a male child.
She noticed her daughter standing at the doorway "Did you sleep well" kiekie nodded ."Good morning mum" Good morning dear " Her mother replied. Breakfast is ready, take some to the dining room, she said scooping out the last egg. She carried the tray of food with her mother behind her. Her dad was already fitted in the dining room when she arrived. She served the dish of cereals with egg and a mug of milk. She had barely started eating when her dad began to converse "You will be going to village to visit your grandma " She gasped. Grandma was a very tough and a disciplinary woman to live with, stay with her one day and you will regret coming into this world. My mother interrupted "Please my husband we can at least wait till she is of age, she is just in her late twenties " My dad scoffed "In her twenties you say, of what is she to me, she should probably go and rot in the village"
I am used to my dad saying those harsh words to me. He had made it a hobby using harsh words against me. I had suddenly lost my appetite as I stood up and headed for the stairs,I was so angry to notice the big flower vase standing beside the stairs, but by the time I took a closer look at it, It was too late I tripped and fell, my head hitting the stairs as strong metallic blood tickled into my mouth. I could hear my mom's sharp voice ringing in my ears, until it faded.
I woke up to a white room feeling a bit dizzy and pain pounding on my hand.A drip was been transfused to my wrist.I did not notice a nurse standing at the side of the room.I called to her. She turned, her eyes widening with happiness, she asked me how I felt I said a bit dizzy, she said okay and went out to probably call the doctor. My mom entered happily afterwards.
