Amara Eze spends the evening desperately searching for medicine for her sick mother. Hospitals refuse treatment because she cannot pay. Rain pours heavily across Lagos as she walks home defeated.

Amara becomes terrified when she notices nobody uses money.

Instead, traders ask customers strange questions:

“How badly do you want revenge?”

At the center of the market sits a beautiful masked trader known only as The Collector.

He watches Amara like he has been expecting her.

Amara tries to leave the market after hearing horrifying bargains.

Then she receives a phone call.

Her mother collapses at home.

Desperate and crying, Amara runs back to The Collector’s stall.

The Collector calmly offers her a deal:

• Enough money to save her mother’s life

• In exchange for ten years of Amara’s lifespan

He warns her: “Once a bargain is made, the market never returns what it takes.”

Amara hesitates but eventually agrees.

The Collector slices her palm with a silver blade.

Black smoke rises from the wound as glowing symbols burn briefly beneath her skin.

Suddenly, Amara feels weaker.

The Collector hands her a black card filled with impossible wealth.

Before she leaves, he says: “You will return. Humans always do.”

When Amara reaches the hospital:

The payment works,

Doctors suddenly agree to treatment,

Her mother survives,

But while washing her hands in the restroom, Amara notices a glowing number appear faintly on her wrist:

Life improves overnight.

Amara moves her mother into a better hospital. Debt collectors disappear. People who ignored her suddenly treat her differently.

But terrifying side effects begin.

She sees shadows standing in mirrors.

Clocks stop when she enters rooms.

At night she hears whispers outside her apartment:

“Trader… trader…”

Her hair begins turning white near the roots.

Worse, she starts seeing hidden marks on people:

Amara realizes the market changed her.

While returning home one evening, she sees a strange young man leaning against a streetlight.

He introduces himself as Lucien.

He warns her:

“You should never have made a bargain with The Collector.”

Amara asks how he knows about the market.

Lucien smiles sadly:

“Because I belong to it.”

Lucien reveals pieces of the truth.

Long ago, he entered the Spirit Market as a human. He made a deal to save someone he loved.

The market trapped him there forever.

Now he works between both worlds, guiding lost souls and warning foolish humans.

Lucien explains the market’s rules:

Amara refuses to believe him fully until shadow creatures attack her on her way home.
