Strangers Under One Roof

1.

The scent of premium green tea and expensive wood incense always filled the main estate of the family patriarch. For a man who spent his days lecturing university students on classical literature and philosophy, the Alpha professor was deeply familiar with traditional structures. Yet, sitting across from his parents, the heavy silence in the room felt different today.
Kang Jae hyun

"An arranged marriage?" the Alpha asked.
His voice calm, steady, and entirely devoid of the panic most people his age would show. He adjusted his glasses, looking at the formal document placed on the low table between them.

"It is a match with one of the most prominent lineages," his mother explained gently, though her tone left no room for argument.

"The eldest Omega son of their family. We have observed him at public galas. He is elegant, soft-spoken, and deeply respectful of traditional values."

"A perfect match for a sophisticated professor like you. He will manage the household beautifully while you focus on your academic career."
The Alpha looked down at the profile. There was a beautifully staged photograph of a young man with a serene, gentle smile, looking every bit the picture of a traditional, obedient partner.
As the eldest brother of his family, the Alpha knew his duties. He had a younger brother and a younger sister to set an example for. Romance was something he taught in poetry classes, not something he expected in his own practical life.
Kang Jae hyun

"I understand"
The Alpha said, giving a respectful bow of his head.

"If this is what honors the family, I will accept the arrangement."
...
Meanwhile, across the city in a sleek, high-rise corporate office, the atmosphere was entirely different.
A Omega director slammed a thick financial report onto his desk, his eyes sharp as a knife as he glared at his assistant.
Han Ji ho

"If this department head thinks he can pass off a 5% deficit as an 'unforeseen market fluctuation,' he can pack his bags by Monday. Do I look like an idiot to you?"
"N-no, Director!" the assistant squeaked.
Just then, the office door opened, and the Omega's younger brother a tall, confident Alpha ,stepped inside with a look of pure amusement on his face.

"You might want to tone down the corporate tyranny for five minutes, brother."
The younger Alpha teased, leaning against the doorframe.

"Father just called from the main estate. The elders just finalized it. You're getting married."
The Omega director didn't even blink. He calmly sat back in his leather chair, crossing his legs.
Han Ji ho
Han Ji ho
"To the professor elder son, right? The calm, sophisticated academic type?"
A slow, brilliant smirk crossed the Omega's face, entirely replacing his fierce corporate glare.
Han Ji ho

"Why would I fight it? A quiet, predictable professor who values tradition means he'll stay out of my way."
Han Ji ho
Han Ji ho
"I'll play the perfect, gentle, submissive fiancé for the elders, we'll get the families aligned, and I can keep running this company without any drama. It's a perfect business transaction."

The arrangement had been made by their families—a formal marriage meeting at a secluded, high-end traditional restaurant in Seoul, far away from the bustling city noise. Professor Kang Jaehyun sat quietly, adjusting his glasses, expecting a strictly traditional, fragile partner.
When the sliding doors opened, Ji-ho’s parents entered first, followed by Han Ji-ho himself. Jaehyun stood up to greet them, and for a fraction of a second, his academic mind went entirely blank.
Ji-ho was stunning. He wore a soft, cream-colored knit sweater that made his frame look deceptively delicate and approachable. His hair was styled softly, and his eyes were downcast, radiating an aura of pure, serene innocence. As a dominant Omega, Ji-ho usually possessed a powerful presence, but right now? He was suppressing it so flawlessly that he smelled like nothing more than a faint, sweet hint of white lilies.

"It is an honor to meet you, Professor Kang,"
Ji-ho said, his voice soft, melodic, and perfectly pitched to sound like a docile, traditional spouse. He bowed deeply, offering a shy, fleeting smile that looked like it belonged in a classic romance poem.
Jaehyun’s heart gave a strange, uncharacteristic flutter. He really is as gentle and fragile as my parents said, Jaehyun thought, feeling a sudden surge of protective responsibility. I must treat him with the utmost care.

"The honor is mine, Director Han,"
Jaehyun replied, his voice deep and reassuringly calm as they all sat down.
Throughout the dinner, Ji-ho was a masterclass in obedience. When the elders spoke, Ji-ho listened intently, nodding politely. When Jaehyun spoke about his university lectures, Ji-ho looked up with wide, admiring eyes, as if a lecture on Joseon-era literature was the most fascinating thing he had ever heard.

"I am quite old-fashioned,"
Jaehyun admitted gently, pouring tea for Ji-ho. "

"I spend most of my time surrounded by books. I hope my quiet lifestyle won't be too boring for you."
Han Ji ho

"Not at all,"
Ji-ho murmured, placing a delicate hand over his chest, his expression filled with pure devotion.

"A quiet life supporting a distinguished scholar sounds like a dream come true. I only wish to be a good partner to you, Jaehyun-ssi."
Underneath the heavy wooden table, however, out of sight of everyone, Ji-ho’s foot was tapping impatiently against the floor.
Wow, he really is a total square, Ji-ho was thinking, desperately holding back a yawn behind his polite smile. He talks like a living textbook. Perfect. He’s so polite and dense, he’ll never notice that I’m running a multi-million won tech division from my phone under the covers. This marriage is going to be a breeze.
As the dinner ended, Jaehyun walked Ji-ho to his car. The evening breeze was chilly, and seeing Ji-ho pull his cardigan tighter around himself, Jaehyun immediately took off his own suit jacket and gently draped it over Ji-ho's shoulders.

"Please don't catch a cold,"
Jaehyun said, his eyes warm and genuinely caring.

"I will see you on our wedding day, Ji-ho-ssi."
Ji-ho blinked, slightly caught off guard by the genuine warmth in the Alpha's scent. For a split second, his corporate brain glitched.
Han Ji ho

"Ah... thank you, Jaehyun-ssi,"
He stammered, pulling the jacket closer. It smelled faintly of old books, cedarwood, and a very comforting Alpha warmth.
As Ji-ho’s car pulled away, Jaehyun adjusted his glasses, a rare, soft smile playing on his lips. I will do my best to make him happy.
Inside the car, the moment the tinted windows rolled up and the elders were out of sight, Ji-ho's gentle smile instantly vanished. He threw the suit jacket onto the seat next to him, loosened his collar, and whipped out his tablet, his eyes turning fierce and sharp.

"Secretary Kim!"
Ji-ho barked into his Bluetooth earpiece, his voice suddenly commanding and authoritative.

Han Ji ho
"Did the European branch send the updated logistics contract yet?"
Han Ji ho

"If it's not on my desk by midnight, tell them they can kiss their bonuses..."
The stage is set perfectly! Jaehyun is completely smitten and determined to protect his "fragile" soon to be husband , while Ji-ho thinks he has the perfect cover.

The grand ballroom of the luxury hotel in Gangnam was dazzling. Soft violin music echoed through the air, and white roses draped every surface. It was a classic, high-end modern Korean wedding—clean, Western-style, and filled with hundreds of elite guests, cameras flashing at every corner.

Professor Kang Jaehyun stood at the altar, looking exceptionally handsome in a sleek black tuxedo. Despite the crowd, his gaze was fixed entirely on the doors at the end of the aisle.

When the doors opened, Han Ji-ho stepped out.
Ji-ho looked breathtakingly ethereal in a crisp, tailored white suit that accentuated his slender frame. He walked down the aisle with a shy, beautifully timed blush on his cheeks, holding a bouquet of lilies. His eyes were downcast, looking exactly like a nervous, delicate Omega walking toward his new life.

"You look beautiful, Ji-ho-ssi,"
Jaehyun whispered softly.
Ji-ho offered a timid, grateful smile, his eyelashes fluttering.

"Thank you, Jaehyun-ssi,"
He murmured softly.
Underneath that timid smile, however, Ji-ho was mentally checking his watch.
Twenty minutes for the ceremony, forty minutes for photos, an hour for the reception. Good. I can still make my 9:00 PM international video conference if we wrap this up on time.
They exchanged sleek platinum rings, bowed deeply to their respective families, and turned to face the cheering crowd. To the entire world, they were the picture-perfect, traditional match: a sophisticated, protective Alpha and his sweet, obedient Omega husband.
