CHAPTER 1: The invisible daughter

Hello guys this is my first time writing the novel so pls support me

Story begins

Female Lead: Lyra Ashbourne (21)

The unwanted daughter of a powerful noble house.

Treated as a curse since birth.

Quiet, intelligent, and secretly gifted with forbidden magic.

Male Lead: Kael Draven (25)

The immortal Obsidian King.

Feared by gods, demons, and mortals alike.

Cold, ruthless, and dangerously obsessed with Lyra from the moment he sees her

Aira Nakamura had mastered the art of disappearing.

Not literally.

But after nineteen years of being ignored by her own family, she had learned how to become invisible.

Invisible during dinner.

Invisible during family gatherings.

Invisible during birthdays.

Invisible even in photographs.

It was almost impressive.

Her mother never asked how her day had been.

Her father barely remembered which grade she was in.

Her older sister, Reina, was the family's shining star—a model student, beautiful, popular, talented.

Everything Aira wasn't.

At least that was what everyone constantly reminded her.

"Aira, why can't you be more like your sister?"

"Aira, stop embarrassing us."

"Aira, do you ever do anything right?"

The words had become background noise.

Aira no longer argued.

No longer cried.

No longer hoped.

Hope was dangerous.

Hope only led to disappointment.

The morning sunlight slipped through her bedroom window.

Aira opened her eyes and stared at the cracked ceiling.

Another day.

Another reminder that she didn't belong anywhere.

She sat up slowly.

The house was already noisy.

Reina's laughter echoed downstairs.

Their parents were talking happily.

Aira smiled bitterly.

Nobody had come to wake her.

Nobody ever did.

She dressed quietly and walked downstairs.

The moment she entered the kitchen, nobody looked at her.

Not one person.

It was as if she were a ghost.

Her father was reading the newspaper.

Her mother was preparing breakfast.

Reina was scrolling through her phone.

Aira sat down.

Silence.

Not a single greeting.

Not a single glance.

She poured herself some tea.

"Mom."

No response.

"Mom."

Still nothing.

Reina rolled her eyes.

"She's talking to you."

"Oh."

Her mother finally looked at her.

"What is it?"

Aira hesitated.

Today was her birthday.

Nineteen years old.

She knew nobody remembered.

But part of her wanted to believe.

Maybe this year would be different.

Maybe—

Never mind.

"It wasn't important."

Her mother nodded and returned to cooking.

Just like that.

Aira lowered her eyes.

Happy birthday to me.

She laughed softly.

The sound felt empty.

After breakfast she left for university.

The city was alive.

Crowded sidewalks.

Neon advertisements.

Cars rushing through intersections.

People laughing.

People talking.

People living.

Aira walked through all of it completely alone.

Her phone remained silent.

No birthday messages.

No calls.

No notifications.

Nothing.

Not surprising.

She didn't have many friends.

Actually, she had none.

People usually forgot she existed.

By lunchtime she found herself sitting alone beneath a cherry blossom tree near campus.

The petals danced around her.

Beautiful.

Fragile.

Temporary.

Just like happiness.

Aira opened a convenience store sandwich.

Before she could take a bite—

A shadow appeared.

Someone sat beside her.

Aira blinked.

That never happened.

Slowly she turned her head.

A young man sat there.

Black hair.

Sharp jawline.

Dark eyes.

Dangerously handsome.

He wore the university uniform.

Yet she had never seen him before.

Which was strange.

Someone like him was impossible to forget.

The young man looked directly at her.

Not through her.

Not past her.

At her.

For the first time in a very long time, someone was truly looking.

Aira felt strangely nervous.

The stranger smiled.

It wasn't a warm smile.

It wasn't friendly.

It was something else.

Something unsettling.

Something intense.

As if he had found something he had been searching for.

For a very long time.

"Finally."

Aira frowned.

"...What?"

The stranger's eyes darkened.

"I found you."

The wind suddenly felt colder.

Aira stared.

"What are you talking about?"

The boy chuckled.

A low sound.

Almost amused.

"You don't remember me."

It wasn't a question.

It was a statement.

Aira shook her head.

"Should I?"

The stranger stood up.

His gaze never left her.

For some reason, her heart started beating faster.

Not because she liked him.

Because something felt wrong.

Very wrong.

Yet she couldn't look away.

"My name is Ren."

He smiled again.

The same dangerous smile.

"The next time we meet, Aira Nakamura..."

His voice softened.

"...your life is going to change forever."

Then he walked away.

Just like that.

Leaving Aira frozen beneath the falling cherry blossoms.

She stared after him.

Confused.

Uneasy.

Curious.

She didn't know it yet.

But that brief meeting would become the beginning of a story that would destroy everything she thought she knew about herself.

And Ren Kurozawa?

He had spent years searching for her.

Years watching from the shadows.

Years waiting.

Now that he had finally found her—

He had no intention of letting her disappear again.

Chapter 2:-The boy who never looked away

Aira Nakamura spent the entire evening trying to forget Ren Kurozawa.

Unfortunately, Ren Kurozawa seemed determined to remain in her thoughts.

His face appeared every time she closed her eyes.

Not because he was handsome.

Though he definitely was.

Not because of his strange words.

Though they were impossible to ignore.

No.

It was because of the way he had looked at her.

Nobody looked at Aira like that.

Nobody noticed her.

Yet Ren had looked at her as if she were the only person in the world.

The memory made her uncomfortable.

When she returned home that evening, the house was brightly decorated.

Laughter echoed through the living room.

For a second, her heart skipped.

Had they remembered?

Had her family finally remembered her birthday?

The tiny spark of hope returned.

Then she stepped inside.

"Happy Birthday, Reina!"

The words hit her like ice water.

A huge cake sat on the dining table.

Colorful balloons filled the room.

Her parents were smiling.

Relatives had gathered.

Everyone was celebrating her older sister.

Aira stood frozen near the entrance.

Nobody noticed she had arrived.

Nobody noticed the birthday girl standing there.

Because it wasn't her birthday they were celebrating.

It was Reina's modeling contract.

The same date.

The same day.

The same family.

Yet only one daughter mattered.

Aira quietly walked upstairs.

Not a single person stopped her.

Not a single person asked where she was going.

Inside her room, she locked the door.

Then sat on her bed.

The silence felt heavy.

She wasn't angry anymore.

She wasn't even sad.

She was tired.

So very tired.

Her phone buzzed.

Aira frowned.

Nobody texted her.

Slowly she picked it up.

Unknown Number.

The message contained only three words.

**Happy Birthday, Aira.**

Her eyes widened.

Another message arrived immediately.

**Someone should remember.**

Aira's heart skipped.

Only one person had known today was her birthday.

Ren.

Her fingers trembled.

Before she could reply, a third message appeared.

**Look outside your window.**

Aira stood quickly.

She walked toward the curtains.

Then slowly pulled them aside.

Her breath caught.

Across the street stood Ren.

He was leaning against a black motorcycle.

Hands in his pockets.

Watching her window.

The moment she appeared, he smiled.

That same smile.

The smile that made her nervous.

Aira immediately stepped back.

What was wrong with this guy?

How did he know where she lived?

Why was he standing outside her house?

And why did it feel like he had been there for hours?

Her phone buzzed again.

**Good. You're smiling.**

Aira touched her face.

She hadn't realized it.

Somehow she really had smiled.

The realization only made things stranger.

Aira quickly typed a reply.

**How do you know where I live?**

Three dots appeared instantly.

As if he had been waiting.

**I've known for years.**

Aira stared.

Years?

That had to be a joke.

Right?

Before she could respond, another message arrived.

**Goodnight, Aira.**

Then nothing.

She looked outside again.

Ren was gone.

As if he had never been there.

A chill ran down her spine.

Who exactly was Ren Kurozawa?

The next morning was worse.

Aira entered her classroom and immediately noticed the whispers.

Students were staring.

Actually staring.

At her.

That had never happened before.

She walked toward her desk.

The whispers grew louder.

"What does Ren see in her?"

"I heard he spoke to her yesterday."

"Impossible."

"Ren Kurozawa never talks to girls."

Aira froze.

Ren?

Suddenly the classroom door opened.

Silence.

Every head turned.

Ren entered.

The atmosphere changed instantly.

Even teachers seemed intimidated by him.

He walked calmly through the room.

Girls watched him.

Boys moved out of his way.

Ren ignored everyone.

His eyes searched the room.

Then found Aira.

Directly.

Immediately.

As if he had known exactly where she was.

Without hesitation, he walked toward her.

The classroom held its breath.

Aira's heart started racing.

Please don't come here.

Please don't—

Ren stopped beside her desk.

The entire class stared.

Aira wanted the floor to swallow her whole.

Ren placed a small box on her desk.

Nobody spoke.

Nobody even breathed.

Aira looked at the box.

"What is this?"

"A birthday gift."

His answer was simple.

Like it was completely normal.

Like he hadn't just shocked an entire classroom.

Aira blinked.

"You didn't have to—"

"I wanted to."

The words sounded almost possessive.

Several girls looked horrified.

Aira noticed immediately.

Apparently Ren was famous.

Very famous.

And his attention was creating problems.

One brave student finally spoke.

"Ren, why are you talking to her?"

The classroom became silent again.

Ren slowly turned his head.

The temperature seemed to drop.

His expression remained calm.

Yet everyone suddenly looked terrified.

Including the person who asked.

Ren's voice was soft.

Dangerously soft.

"Because I want to."

Nobody spoke after that.

Nobody dared.

Ren looked back at Aira.

The coldness vanished instantly.

"See you later."

Then he left.

Just like that.

The moment he disappeared, chaos erupted.

Questions flew from every direction.

"Aira, do you know him?"

"Are you dating?"

"Since when?"

"What is happening?"

Aira didn't know how to answer.

Because she didn't know either.

Meanwhile, on the rooftop.

Ren stood alone.

The wind played with his dark hair.

His phone vibrated.

A message appeared.

**Did you find her?**

Ren stared at the screen.

Then typed a reply.

**Yes.**

A few seconds later another message arrived.

**Are you certain she's the one?**

For the first time all day, Ren's expression changed.

His gaze darkened.

Dangerous.

Obsessive.

Unwavering.

He looked toward the classroom building.

Toward the girl sitting inside.

The girl everyone ignored.

The girl nobody protected.

The girl nobody chose.

His girl.

Ren typed only four words.

**I've never been more certain.**

Then he locked his phone.

A small smile appeared.

Because after years of searching...

After years of waiting...

Aira Nakamura was finally within reach.

And Ren Kurozawa had no intention of losing her again.

No matter what it cost.

Chapter 3 Always Watching

The rumors spread through the university faster than wildfire.

By lunchtime, everyone knew Ren Kurozawa had given Aira Nakamura a gift.

By evening, people had already created their own versions of the story.

Some claimed they were secretly dating.

Others insisted Aira had somehow manipulated him.

A few believed Ren was playing a cruel joke.

Nobody knew the truth.

Not even Aira.

She stared at the small gift box sitting on her desk.

Ever since morning, she had been afraid to open it.

Why would someone like Ren give her a present?

Why did he know her birthday?

And why did it feel like he knew things about her that nobody else did?

Taking a deep breath, she finally opened the box.

Inside was a silver bookmark.

Simple.

Elegant.

A tiny moon charm hung from one end.

Aira frowned.

There was also a note.

Her fingers trembled slightly as she unfolded it.

"For the girl who always hides in the library."

Her eyes widened.

The library.

That was her favorite place.

Nobody knew that.

Not even her family.

Yet Ren did.

A strange feeling settled in her chest.

Not fear.

Not exactly.

Something she couldn't describe.

Who was he?

The next day, Aira decided she needed answers.

The moment she spotted Ren leaving a lecture hall, she followed him.

At first she thought she was being subtle.

She wasn't.

Ren clearly knew she was behind him.

The corner of his lips twitched.

Amusement.

Eventually he stopped near a quiet courtyard.

Aira almost walked into him.

He turned.

Dark eyes met hers.

For a second, neither spoke.

Then Ren smiled.

"You followed me."

"You noticed?"

"I always notice you."

The answer came too quickly.

Too naturally.

Aira felt her heartbeat speed up.

"That's not normal."

"Probably not."

The fact that he admitted it so casually somehow made it worse.

Aira crossed her arms.

"I want answers."

Ren studied her face.

"What kind of answers?"

"How do you know me?"

The smile disappeared.

For the first time, something serious entered his expression.

"I've known about you for a long time."

"That's not an answer."

"I know."

Aira sighed.

This was impossible.

Before she could continue, several girls approached.

Their eyes immediately landed on Ren.

One of them smiled brightly.

"Ren, there you are!"

The friendliness vanished when they noticed Aira.

Aira recognized the look instantly.

Disdain.

Judgment.

She had seen it her whole life.

The girl linked her arm through Ren's.

"Are you free after class?"

Ren gently removed her hand.

"No."

The girl blinked.

"Oh..."

"I'm busy."

His gaze shifted directly to Aira.

The meaning was obvious.

The girl's face fell.

Aira wanted to disappear.

The group eventually left.

Ren looked completely unbothered.

Aira, however, felt awkward.

"People seem interested in you."

"They're interested in an image."

"What about me?"

The question escaped before she could stop it.

Ren stared at her.

For a moment, the entire world seemed quiet.

Then he answered.

"You're different."

His voice was low.

Honest.

Dangerously sincere.

Aira looked away first.

That evening, Ren sat alone inside his apartment.

The room was luxurious.

Large windows overlooked the city skyline.

Yet he wasn't paying attention to the view.

Instead, dozens of photographs covered one wall.

Every single picture showed Aira.

Walking to school.

Reading in the library.

Sitting beneath the cherry blossom tree.

Smiling.

Thinking.

Living.

Years of memories.

Years of searching.

Years of waiting.

A normal person would have called it obsession.

Ren knew it probably was.

Yet every time he looked at those pictures, he felt the same certainty.

Aira was important.

More important than anyone realized.

A soft knock interrupted his thoughts.

His childhood friend, Haru, entered.

The moment Haru saw the photographs, he sighed.

"You really found her."

"Yes."

"You've spent years looking."

Ren's gaze remained fixed on one photograph.

Aira laughing alone while feeding a stray cat.

A rare moment of happiness.

"I know."

Haru folded his arms.

"Are you finally going to tell her the truth?"

Silence.

For several seconds, Ren didn't answer.

Then he smiled.

A dark smile.

A dangerous smile.

"Aira already has enough problems."

"So you're going to keep watching from the shadows?"

Ren's eyes narrowed.

"No."

For the first time, certainty filled his voice.

"I'm done watching."

Haru immediately understood.

That was what worried him.

Because Ren Kurozawa was not the type of person who did things halfway.

Once he decided something belonged in his life...

He never let go.

Meanwhile, Aira returned home.

The moment she entered, shouting echoed through the house.

Her father looked furious.

Reina stood nearby with tears in her eyes.

"Aira!"

She froze.

Her father rarely used her name.

Usually that meant trouble.

"Did you touch your sister's laptop?"

"What?"

"Answer me!"

Aira stared in confusion.

"No."

"Then why is her project missing?"

Reina wiped away fake tears.

"I saw Aira near my room yesterday."

Aira couldn't believe it.

A lie.

A complete lie.

Yet nobody questioned it.

Nobody defended her.

The verdict had already been decided.

As always.

Her father pointed toward the stairs.

"Go to your room."

"But—"

"Now."

Aira clenched her fists.

The familiar ache returned.

No matter what happened, she was always guilty.

Always unwanted.

Always alone.

She quietly walked upstairs.

Once inside her room, she closed the door.

Then sat on the floor.

The tears came before she could stop them.

For a while, she simply cried.

Nobody knocked.

Nobody checked on her.

Nobody cared.

Her phone suddenly vibrated.

One message.

From Ren.

Did something happen?

Aira stared.

How could he know?

Another message appeared.

You looked sad when you got home.

Her breath caught.

Looked sad?

What did that mean?

Aira rushed toward the window.

Outside, across the street, stood a familiar black motorcycle.

And leaning against it—

Ren.

Watching her window.

Waiting.

Not smiling.

Not moving.

Just there.

As if he had been guarding her.

As if he had known she would need someone.

For the first time in years, Aira didn't feel completely alone.

And that terrified her almost as much as it comforted her.

Because Ren Kurozawa wasn't simply interested in her.

The more she learned about him...

The more she realized something dangerous.

Ren didn't just want to know her.

He wanted to become a permanent part of her world.

And once Ren decided something...

He never let it go.
