After awhile Joy arrived at Dong-A University Hospital.

The hospital lobby was already busy
Doctors walked through the hallways with clipboards in hand. Nurses moved from one station to another while patients and families filled the waiting area.
Standing near the entrance, Joy adjusted her student nurse ID and took a deep breath.

"Why do you look like you're about to faint?" *a familiar voice teased*
Joy turned and found Rhea grinning beside her.

You haven't even started. *Teased her*

What if I accidentally call a doctor by the wrong name?

Then apologize and move on.
Joy
What if I drop a patient's chart?
Rhea
You've been studying for weeks.
Rhea wrapped an arm around her shoulder.

A small smile finally appeared on Joy's face.

Their clinical instructor gave final reminders.

As the orientation continued, Joy quietly looked around.
Everything felt so different from the classroom.
This was real.
Real patients.
Real nurses.
Real doctors.
And suddenly she felt very small.
The hallway became strangely quieter.
Not silent.
Just... different.
People seemed to move aside naturally.
Joy looked up.
A tall doctor in a white coat walked past the station.
His expression was calm.
Focused.
Professional.
Several nurses greeted him.
"Good morning, Doctor."
"Morning, Doctor."
He returned a polite nod.
The doctor continued walking without noticing her.
She couldn't stop staring.
Joy immediately looked away.

Another nurse approached.
"Students, follow me."
Joy found herself glancing toward the hallway again.
The next few hours passed quickly.

A voice spoke behind her.

A young doctor stood nearby.
Friendly smile.
Kind eyes.
White coat.

I was so nervous I introduced myself twice to the same patient.

Joy carried several patient charts while walking through the corridor.
She was exhausted.
Her feet hurt.

Someone turned the corner.
At the exact same time.
Joy froze.
The charts slipped from her hands..
She immediately crouched down.
Before she could collect everything—
Another pair of hands reached for the papers.
Joy looked up.
And her heart nearly stopped.
The same doctor from earlier.
The serious one.
The one she had accidentally stared at.
His voice was calm.
Deep.
Gentle.
Joy forgot how to breathe.
Dr. Aiden
Miss Are you okay?
Joy snapped back to reality.

Y-Yes Doctor... *gentle voice*
The doctor looked slightly amused.
Together they gathered the remaining papers.
He handed her the last chart.

Thank you doctor *slight bowed respect*

Be careful next time.
The doctor gave a small smile.
A very small smile.
But enough.
Leaving Joy completely frozen.
Rhea suddenly appeared from nowhere.
Joy stared down the hallway.
The doctor's figure disappeared around the corner.

He picked up my charts.

Sounds like the beginning of a K-drama.

Joy laughed despite herself.
And somewhere down the hallway.....
The doctor she'd just met continued walking toward his next patient.
That he had just become the most memorable part of Joy's first day...
