The CEO's Substitute

The CEO's Substitute

Chapter 1: The Substitute

The rain slammed against the floor-to-ceiling windows of the Lopez family mansion. Inside, the atmosphere was suffocating.

"You must marry him, Natalie! There is no alternative!"

Natalie Lopez looked at her adoptive father, Raymond Lopez, with a numb heart. The man who had taken her in after her mother’s death was now looking at her not with parental love, but as a commodity to be sold.

"Why me?" Natalie’s voice was calm, almost detached. "The marriage contract with the Vance family was made for Melanie. She is your precious biological daughter."

"Do you expect me to push Melanie into a fire pit?!" her stepmother, Victoria, shrieked, stepping forward. "Everyone in the city knows that Sebastian Vance became a ruthless monster after his car accident! He’s crippled, bound to a wheelchair, and rumors say he tortures people for fun! Melanie is meant for greatness, not to be a caretaker to a freak!"

Melanie Lopez sat on the sofa, sobbing delicately into a silk handkerchief. "Natalie, please... I already have a boyfriend. If I marry Mr. Vance, my life will be ruined. The Lopez Group is facing bankruptcy. Only the Vance family's dowry can save us. You owe our family for raising you!"

Owe them?

Natalie felt a mocking smile touch her lips. For the past ten years, she had been treated worse than a maid in this house. She wore Melanie’s hand-me-downs, ate their leftovers, and did all their chores while maintaining top grades. She didn't owe them a single dime.

However, Natalie looked down at the silver medical bracelet on her wrist. Her mentor, the legendary Doctor Gray, had told her that the Vance family possessed the rare "Midnight Lotus" herb—the only thing that could cure the chronic poison in her own body. She had been searching for a way to enter the Vance estate for months.

This was her ticket in.

"Fine," Natalie said, raising her beautiful, clear eyes. "I will marry Sebastian Vance in Melanie's place. But from the moment I step out of this door, the Lopez family and I have no further relations."

Raymond sighed in relief, completely ignoring her condition. "Good, good! The Vance family’s car will arrive tomorrow morning. Don't make a scene."

Natalie turned around and walked up to her small attic room without looking back. They thought they were sending her to hell. Little did they know, they were releasing a phoenix from its cage.

Chapter 2: The Cold Husband

The wedding was non-existent. There was no grand hall, no media, and no vows. Natalie was simply driven to the sprawling, secluded Vance Manor in the dead of night, dressed in a simple white lace dress.

The butler, an elderly man named Mr. Jennings, led her down a dimly lit hallway. "Young Mistress, the Master is in the study. He does not like noise. Please be mindful."

Testing the Waters

Chapter 3: Testing the Waters

The study fell into a deathly silence.

Sebastian's eyes flashed with a murderous glint. His grip on her chin moved down to her slender neck. "Who told you about my legs? Who sent you?!"

Everyone knew his legs were destroyed in the accident, and the world’s best doctors had declared him permanently paralyzed. For this girl to claim she could cure him meant she either knew a dangerous secret or was a fraud sent by his enemies.

Natalie felt the oxygen leaving her lungs, but her gaze remained steady. She reached up, her delicate fingers pressing precisely on a pressure point on Sebastian's wrist.

Instantly, Sebastian felt a strange numbness shoot up his arm, causing his hand to lose power and release her. He looked at his own hand in genuine shock.

Natalie coughed lightly, catching her breath. "No one sent me. I am a doctor. I can see the muscle tension in your legs. Your meridians are blocked by a rare toxin, not broken by the accident. The doctors you hired are either incompetent, or they are deliberately keeping you in that chair."

Sebastian’s heart shook. She was right. He was poisoned, and he had been feigning total paralysis to catch the mastermind behind his accident. But this secret was guarded by his most trusted allies. How did this twenty-year-old girl know?

"Who are you really?" Sebastian demanded, his voice dropping to a low growl.

"Just Natalie," she smiled, a radiant, mysterious smile that momentarily dazed him. "Your substitute wife. Think about my offer, Mr. Vance. You give me a room and protection from the Lopez family, and I will give you back your ability to walk within three months."

Sebastian stared at her for a long time. Finally, he leaned back in his wheelchair. "Jennings!"

The door opened instantly. "Yes, Master?"

"Arrange the room next to mine for the Young Mistress," Sebastian ordered, his eyes never leaving Natalie. "And monitor her. If she takes one wrong step, throw her into the river."

"Yes, Master," Jennings said, hiding his immense shock. The Master was letting her stay!

Natalie bowed slightly. "Goodnight, Husband."

Chapter 4: The Outcast's Return

The next morning, the news of the Vance-Lopez marriage hit the headlines. However, the media only reported that the Vance family had taken a bride, without mentioning Natalie’s name.

In the Lopez mansion, Victoria and Melanie were celebrating over a lavish breakfast.

"Mom, it's wonderful! The Vance family just transferred fifty million dollars to our account!" Melanie laughed, looking at her newly manicured nails. "Natalie must be crying in terror right now. I heard Sebastian Vance breaks the bones of anyone who touches him."

"Let that brat suffer," Victoria sneered. "She was just a parasite in our house anyway."

Just then, the living room doors were pushed open.

Natalie walked in, dressed in a stunning, high-end emerald silk trench

The Master's Obsession

Chapter 5: The Master's Obsession

Back at the Vance Manor, Sebastian was watching a live video feed on his computer screen. The video showed Natalie slapping Melanie and threatening the Lopez family with flawless confidence.

His assistant, Ben, stood by the side, sweating profusely. "Master... the Young Mistress used your name quite effectively. Should we punish her for using the Vance family's influence?"

A rare, faint smirk appeared on Sebastian’s lips. "Punish her? No. She did well."

He closed the laptop, his mind flashing back to the way she had easily neutralized his grip the night before. This girl was full of secrets. She wasn't a fragile lamb; she was a white leopard pretending to be sweet.

"Ben, look up everything about Natalie Lopez. Her medical background, her schools, everyone she has ever interacted with."

"Yes, Master. And regarding the medical treatment she offered...?"

Sebastian touched his legs under the blanket. For the first time in two years, he felt a strange, warm tingling sensation in his nerves—a result of the single pressure point she had pressed last night.

"Let her try," Sebastian murmured, his grey eyes darkening with a dangerous, possessive light. "If she cures me, she can have anything she wants. If she’s playing with me... I’ll tie her to my side forever."

In the hallway outside, Natalie walked toward her room, carrying her mother's box. She stopped outside Sebastian's study door, sensing his gaze through the wood. She smiled softly.

Sebastian Vance, just wait. I will not only cure you, but together, we will make everyone who stepped on us crawl at our feet.

Add Face-Slapping (Slap-Chit) Scenes: Introduce a high-society charity ball in Chapter 10 where Melanie tries to accuse Natalie of stealing her dress. Have Sebastian show up unexpectedly in his wheelchair, buy the entire boutique for Natalie on the spot, and make Melanie apologize on her knees.

The Medical Treatment Subplot: Dedicate 2-3 chapters to Natalie searching for rare herbs (like the Midnight Lotus). Write detailed, intense scenes where she performs acupuncture on Sebastian. The physical closeness will build romantic tension!

Introduce a Rival/Love Triangle: Bring in a childhood female friend of Sebastian who wants to replace Natalie, or a mysterious young billionaire who recognizes Natalie's hacker identity ("Ghost") and tries to pursue her, making Sebastian fiercely jealous.

Melanie stomped her feet and ran upstairs, returning minutes later with a dusty wooden box. She shoved it toward Natalie. "Take it and leave! Don't think because Sebastian Vance gave you some guards you're a real queen. You're just a maid sleeping with a cripple!"

Slap!

The sound echoed sharply through the villa.

Melanie stumbled back, holding her burning, reddened cheek in absolute shock. Natalie stood there, calmly wiping her hand with a wet tissue.

"Watch your mouth, Melanie," Natalie said, her voice dropping to a dangerous whisper. "The next time you insult my
