Kiara's Hidden Agenda

Chapter 1: the shipper

Rule #1: Don’t ship two of your friends if you don’t want to ruin your life.

Rule #2: If they’re hot, Rule #1 is invalid.

I’m Kiara Solene. I’m 17, in grade 12, top 5 in my class, and the secret admin of @LukaKaiDaily.

Kai Lumiere has been my best friend since grade 8. He’s cute, with a smile that makes you feel like he knows something you don’t. He’s not too quiet, and he’s not loud in class either.

Luka Smith is Kai’s best friend and my friend too. He’s not quiet either—actually, he’s a bit loud. They’re about the same height.

And then something happened.

It was just a small thing.

But in my brain, corrupted by BL manga and 2 a.m. Wattpad fics, that was already Chapter One of my canon ship.

And me?

I’m just the one getting a headache wondering why they still haven’t kissed.

But first, let me tell you how it all started.

Back in grade 7, I was already obsessed with BL stories. I read almost every BL story I could find. At that time, I didn’t know Kai and Luka yet.

When I started grade 8, I met them and we became close. Our friendship lasted three years. The three of us were still close when we reached grade 11, and that’s when something happened that gave me a reason to ship them.

One day after class, I realized I’d left something in the classroom, so I went back to get it. As I got closer, I heard two familiar voices. I was still a bit far, so I couldn’t tell who they were.

When I opened the classroom door, I saw my two friends in what looked like an embrace. Luka was sitting on a chair while Kai was holding his necktie, their faces close together.

I was too caught up in the moment to leave right away. Then they both looked at me.

“Ahh, s-sorry! I’ll go out—continue what you’re doing. Bye!” I said and quickly stepped out.

“You’ve got it all wrong—”

They didn’t get to finish. I was already walking away, still squealing inside.

“Oh my god!! Did I really see that right? Sheesh~” I whispered to myself as I walked down the hallway.

Because of that, I forgot I’d gone back for the thing I left behind. But it was worth it—I’d discovered something.

That’s how I started shipping them.

Now that I’m in grade 12, I still ship them. I still get giddy every time I see them together.

As I sat at my chair, I saw them together again, and I instantly got excited because my ship was sailing.

“They’re together again. Do you want me to label you two?” I muttered to myself with a smile.

While I was spacing out watching them, I didn’t notice they had already approached me.

“Kiara, are you okay? Do you want to come with us to buy something at the canteen?” one of them asked.

“No thanks, I don’t want to mess up your dat— I mean, your quality time together,” I said, smiling like a weirdo.

“O-okay,” they replied, looking a little weirded out. I know I’m weird, okay?

After recess, everyone went back to their seats. While our math teacher was teaching, I suddenly saw Luka and Kai whispering to each other.

“Hmmm,” I muttered under my breath.

“Miss Solene, are you even listening to my class!?” our teacher snapped at me when she noticed I wasn’t paying attention.

“Sorry, Ma’am,” I said, quickly turning my attention to our teacher.

After that, the teacher resumed the lesson, but because my mind was already elsewhere, I didn’t understand a thing.

“Kai, teach me math. I didn’t get it,” I said to Kai.

“That’s what happens when you don’t listen properly,” he teased me.

“Never mind, I’ll ask Luka instead! Hmph!” I shot back and walked away.

“Luka! Teach me tomorrow, pleaseee,” I said to him with a smile.

“Fine. But listen in class next time, okay?” he sighed before agreeing.

“Yayyy!! See, Luka’s not like someone else!” I said loudly enough for Kai to hear.

“Yeah, yeah, Luka it is,” he replied with a laugh.

After a full day of classes, it was finally time to go home. While I was cleaning up, I overheard a group of girls whispering in the corner, so I went over to see what was up.

“Guys, what’s the tea?” I chimed in.

“Girl, we’re just talking about the BL we’re reading,” one of my classmates replied.

“Ahh, can I join—”

I didn’t get to finish because Luka and one of his guy friends suddenly cut us off.

“Hey!! Stop gossiping and clean up, you lazybones,” he said to us.

“Chill, we’re just gossiping a little,” I shot back before going back to cleaning.

Once we finished cleaning, I grabbed my bag and headed home.

While walking down the street, I saw Kai and Luka together again, and my inner BL shipper immediately went wild.

“Wow, is that a date?” I said to myself, grinning like an idiot.

I was so busy imagining them kissing that I didn’t notice they’d already spotted me.

“Kiara!! Come walk with us!” Kai called out.

“Yeah, come on!” Luka added.

“Can I join? But I don’t want to ruin their quality time. Ahh, I know—I’ll just be careful and observe them,” I thought to myself.

“Okay!” I said, then crossed the street to catch up with them. Of course, I positioned myself behind them so I wouldn’t disturb them.

While they were chatting, I was busy observing them, probably looking like an idiot from behind.

“Kiara, are you sick?” Kai asked me.

“No!!! I’m just out of patience with you two. Just kiss already and make Luka your boyfriend!!!!” That’s what I wanted to say, but obviously, I couldn’t.

“I’m fine,” I replied simply to Kai’s question.

"Are you sure, huh." he replied.

When we got to our respective apartments, I went inside right away, changed clothes, and went to my room to put my stuff on my desk.

"Ugh, I'm so tired," I muttered to myself as I flopped onto the bed.

While I was lying on the bed, my phone suddenly rang.

_Ring!_

"Hello?" I answered, since the number was unknown.

"It's me, Robhe!" she said.

"OMG, Robhe!! I missed you!" I replied, nearly crying from happiness.

Wait, let me tell you about her since you don't know her yet. She's Robhe Smith, Luka Smith's twin sister. I met her back in 9th grade when we went to Luka's house to work on a project. We clicked right away and became best friends, but she transferred to another school because she had to.

Back to the present.

"I miss you so much, Kiara!!" she said, and I could clearly hear her crying.

"I miss you too. I lost contact with you for so long," I said, tearing up but smiling at the same time.

"How have you been?" she asked me.

"I'm okay, Robhe. How about you?" I replied.

"I'm okay," she answered.

We ended up talking on the phone for two hours because it had been so long since we'd last spoken. After our long conversation, we hung up since it was already late at night. I didn't even eat dinner because I fell asleep right after.

Chapter 2: Sick

The next morning, I woke up early because I still had chores to do. After I finished them, I went out right away and locked my apartment.

"What time is it already?" I asked myself as I hurried out because I might be late.

When I arrived at the classroom, only one of my classmates was there, so I sat at my seat and waited for the others. After a few minutes, my classmates started arriving one by one. When Luka arrived, I saw that Kai wasn't with him, so I asked him, "Luka, where's Kai? Why isn't he with you?" I was still sitting at my seat. Only two desks were between us, so he could hear me.

"Didn't he tell you that he's sick?" he answered.

"No," I replied briefly.

"Let's go visit him later," I said to him.

"Sure," he replied briefly, then turned his gaze forward because our teacher had arrived.

"Good morning, class!"

"Good morning, Ma'am!"

After our class, it was break time, so my classmates went to the canteen. I stayed at my seat and reviewed my math because I didn't understand it.

"You're not buying anything?" Luka asked me.

"No, I'm reviewing math. I don't get it," I answered while still looking at my notebook.

"I'll teach you. Didn't you ask me to tutor you last time?" he said.

"Oh right, I forgot, haha," I replied.

Luka taught me for the whole break time because I really couldn't understand the math, so it took a while.

"Thank you, I get it now," I thanked him while smiling.

"No problem. Listen next time, okay?" he teased me.

"Yes, I will listen next time~," I answered like a child. He smiled at me.

That afternoon, as we had agreed, we were going to visit Kai. While Luka and I were walking down the street, I saw someone selling ice cream.

"I want to buy some, but never mind. Next time," I said to myself.

"You want ice cream? Let's buy some," he suddenly said to me. He probably noticed me staring at the ice cream.

"No, we're going to visit Kai," I immediately replied.

"Ah, okay," he said.

When we arrived, we knocked on Kai's apartment door right away.

"I don't think it's locked," I said to Luka. Luka tried to open the door, and it wasn't locked.

"It's not locked," he said.

Since it wasn't locked, we just went in and looked for Kai.

"Kai!! Luka and I are here!" I called out to Kai.

"He's probably in his room," Luka said. I checked if he was in his room, and as soon as I opened the door, I saw Kai lying weakly on his bed and sweating a lot. I went closer to check how high his fever was.

"He's really hot," I thought to myself.

"Luka!! Get some lukewarm water and a towel!"

"Kiara?" Kai said weakly, struggling with his fever.

"Here is what you asked me to get, Kiara," he said as he handed it to me.

"He's too hot. He should take medicine," I said.

"Wait, I'll buy medicine outside," I told Luka and quickly went to the store. While I was buying, Luka watched over Kai.

"Dude, get well soon," Luka said briefly.

"Why are you and Kiara here? I might infect you," he said weakly because he felt sick.

"Kiara is buying medicine. Just wait."

While Luka was watching over Kai, Kai insisted on getting up.

"Hey! Lie down," Luka scolded him.

When I arrived, I found my two friends, and Luka had his hand on Kai's back while helping him lie down.

"Oh my~ hehe," I whispered to myself.

"Are you going to just stand there, or are you going to give him the medicine?" Luka asked me.

"S-sorry," I answered.

After we made Kai take the medicine I bought, we let him lie down. We also decided to cook food for Kai, and of course, we would eat with him.

"Let's just stay here, cook for Kai, and eat here too," I said.

"Sure, so he won't have to cook," he said.

After we ate, we gave Kai the medicine I bought earlier, and then we went home.

"We're leaving now, Kai. Get well soon, okay?" I told Kai.

"Yes," he answered briefly while smiling.

It was late at night when Luka and I got home because we took care of Kai.

"Ugh! I'm so sleepy." I fell asleep early because I was tired too.

When I woke up, I got ready as I always did and went straight to school. When I entered the classroom, I saw that Kai had come in, and of course, Luka was with him again.

"Phew, my main character came in." I whispered to the air.

"Good thing you're better now." I said to Kai.

"Thanks to you two last night." he said.

"No problem." I sat down at my seat right away because our teacher might arrive soon. When our teacher arrived, our class started.

After a long hours

"Okay, class dismissed!"

"Woohoo!! Let's go to the canteen!!" my classmates shouted.

"You're not buying again, Kiara?" Luka asked me.

"No, I have a sandwich," I said.

"I don't want to interrupt them, huhu. He just recovered from being sick, ohh your poor baby," I said to myself.

"Okay," they said and went to the canteen.

"I'm literally obsessed~ my favorite ship is sailing!" I said to myself while squealing.

Chapter 3: Review

After break time, everyone went back to the classroom because our next subject was about to start. After a tiring day, it was finally dismissal time.

"Phew, finally, dismissal time," I whispered to myself.

"Are you ready for the exam?"

"Not yet."

Those were the words I heard in the classroom while we were cleaning. "Oh right, the exam is near. Huhuhu," I mumbled quietly.

After we finished cleaning, we all went home right away.

"Ugh!! So tired," I said while flopping onto my bed.

"I should call Robhe. I miss her."

Ring! Ring!

"Ahhh! I missed you, Kiara! Why are you calling only now!?" Robhe cried over the phone.

"Sorry, Robhe. I was kinda busy, and I know you're busy too because the exam is near," I explained.

"Waaahhh!! So what if you're busy, you dummy! It's been so long since we last talked and now—"

"I'm sorry, Robhe," I apologized to her.

We talked for a few hours.

"Okay, Robhe. Bye for now. I'll call again next time, okay?"

"Sure you will."

"Yes, promise."

We ended the call because it was already late.

"I should eat noodles first."

I ate noodles first and then fell asleep right away.

The next morning, I got ready to go to school. When I entered the classroom, my classmates greeted me, each holding their own books and reviewers. As I sat down, I couldn't help but glance at where Kai and Luka were sitting.

"Going to school every day is really worth it." I mumbled to myself.

Of course, with my overactive imagination, I pictured the two boys flirting with each other.

"Good morning, class!"

"Good morning, Ma'am!"

"Today, review your lessons for my subject so you'll be ready for the exam next week," our teacher told us.

While we were reviewing, everyone had their own style: some had their eyes closed, some covered their faces with something, some did group reviews, and some looked like they were training like Goku. Of course, I had my own style too, and that was face-planting on my desk.

"Hey, Kiara! Are you reviewing or sleeping?" my classmate asked me.

"What do you mean? This is my review style," I replied.

"I don't get you, Kiara," she answered before walking away.

Of course, I wasn't really reviewing because I was lazy.

"I might as well just watch Kai and Luka, hehe," I told my chaotic brain.

"Class, it's break time now. Your next subject teacher said they won't be coming because they're preparing for the exam next week, so just review all your subjects instead of being lazy," our teacher told us before leaving.

While everyone was going out, that's when I finally started reviewing, because honestly, reviewing is useless if the surroundings are noisy.

"Ugh! So annoying! Nothing I reviewed is sticking in my brain," I complained to myself.

Some of my classmates didn't go to the canteen because they were reviewing too.

"Hey, do you get Science?" I asked Yhunice.

"Yeah, why? Don't you get it?" she replied.

"No, huhuhu."

"Oh, is that so? Do you want me to teach you?" she asked.

"Sure, thanks. You're a blessing from heaven."

Of course, who would refuse? There was someone offering to help, after all.

After Yhunice taught me, I finally understood. I'm not that dumb.

Just like what our teacher said, we just reviewed the whole day.

"Ugh!! So tiring," I said to myself while looking like a wilted vegetable.

While I was having my little drama moment in the corner, Luka and Kai suddenly approached me.

"Kiara," Kai called out to me.

"Hmmm?"

"Are you free tomorrow? If not, let's hang out," Kai said.

"Uhmm, I'm free... Okay, I'll come," I replied because I was really tired.

"Tomorrow, around 10:00 a.m., Kai and I will wait for you."

"Yes, yes," I answered because I was so exhausted.
