However one day, he had vanished unexpectedly and retired from the e-sports league for personal reasons.
Later, he returned home when his school suspension period was almost over and he followed his parents’ wishes. He had to return to school to graduate and ended up having to stay at a dorm in room 301.
Those who were into games or followed the e-sports community, all know or admired various professional players. However, what they didn’t expect was that one of their gods was just within arms reach, and even more so, a first-class one too.

Prologue 001- Wu Zewen
End of August was the time when schools all over the country started their classes again. Because He Xuyang had been cut off from the internet during vacation, after school started, he immediately logged into the academic administration system to check the results of last semester’s final exams. Once again, he barely passed his major courses with a score of 61 points. He Xuyang touched his nose and turned around to ask with a smile, “How did you guys do? At least I don’t have to retake the exam with 61 points.”
The buddy on the next bed said, “I got 62, one point higher than you.”
As grades were being discussed in the dormitory room, there was a male student wearing glasses by the side who remained silent.
He Xuyang couldn’t help but ask, “Zewen, how much did you score?”
Seeing no response, He Xuyang walked over to him, gently patted his shoulder and said, “It’s okay, it’s alright if you don’t do well occasionally. How much did you score? Did you pass?”
Wu Zewen turned around, “What did you say?”
— It turned out that this guy had been completely absorbed in reading a book with his head lowered, completely unaware of his roommates’ discussion.
He Xuyang, feeling helpless, said, “I asked you, how much did you score in the exams? Did you pass?”
Wu Zewen adjusted his glasses and earnestly said, “I passed, 100 points.”
“…”
“…”
The other two people exchanged a glance and cursed inwardly at the same time: Damn!
61 points, 62 points, compared to 100 points, this was too heartbreaking.
He Xuyang suddenly felt like an idiot.
Who was Wu Zewen? He actually asked if he had passed? He should have asked if he had gotten 100.
This guy was a well-known academic tyrant in the Physics Department, a science genius. Apparently, when in high school, he often scored full marks in science subjects but frequently failed in arts subjects. He had severe myopia, and his bias towards subjects was equally severe. He was usually quiet and spoke only when spoken to, just like a spinning top, spinning one round when poked once. But when encountering numerical formulas, his brain worked faster than the CPU of a high-end computer.
This person’s mental arithmetic skills were terrifying. Whenever he went to the supermarket to buy something, regardless of the amount he bought, the price would always be a perfect whole number, 100, 50, 20, the kind where no change was needed…
Wearing a pair of black-rimmed glasses, Wu Zewen had fair skin, a very delicate appearance, and a tall, thin figure. Dressed in a white shirt and jeans, looked clean and tidy. His personality was quiet and gentle, completely the epitome of a model student in the eyes of teachers.
This kind of high IQ genius was naturally enviable.
He Xuyang couldn’t help but think: This guy only knows how to bury himself in books in the library all day, should I try to drag him into playing online games?
Thinking of this, he leaned over to Wu Zewen’s ear and said with a smile, “Zewen, since school hasn’t started yet anyway, and these past few days have been boring, how about I teach you to play a game? Wulin¹, have you heard of it?”
Wu Zewen turned his head around, “Wulin? Is it an online game? I heard Li Xiang mention it.”
Li Xiang was the class monitor of Class 1 of the Physics Department and also a gaming enthusiast. He happened to be playing Wulin recently.
Qu Heyang said, “Yes, Li Xiang and his dorm mates have all been playing this game. This game is very popular, it’s a Chinese-style game, beautifully made with realistic graphics, excellent scenery, and the combat system inside is also very refreshing!”
As He Xuyang spoke, he pulled Wu Zewen to sit down by the table and double-clicked on the game client.
A picturesque scene, reminiscent of ancient times, slowly unfolded before the eyes like a scroll. On the top were a row of ink-colored buttons for official announcements, forums, databases, recharge options, and professional leagues. On the bottom right corner was a circular login button emitting a soft glow, and when hovered over it, the mouse would transform into a charming brush shape.
He Xuyang clicked on the shining “login” button with the mouse.
Ten seconds later, a full-screen picture opened up in front of them. In the lush bamboo forest, there was an open space, and in the center of the open space, a person was standing. The name above his head was “Excellent Excellent²”.
A Shaolin monk with an upright and serious face, wearing a red robe and holding a string of Buddhist beads, was striking the “Amitabha” pose — every time He Xuyang saw his own character, he wanted to cry because of his own handsomeness.
He Xuyang entered the game and was directly transported into the arena area of the Martial Arts Conference. He explained to Wu Zewen, “This arena area is specifically used for people to set up arenas for martial arts competitions. There are many arena listings in the arena area. You can apply to join another person’s arena, or you can set up your own arena and wait for others to challenge you. You can also set points as a wager, and can increase your points if you win.”
Wu Zewen expressed his understanding, nodding.
Next, He Xuyang spent three minutes explaining to Wu Zewen how to PK with others and how to use Shaolin skills. Then, he applied to join an arena named “Tang Sect Handsome Guy Seeking Abuse³”.
The application was approved. Upon entering, he saw a person from the Tang Sect standing in the arena with the ID “Tang Sect Handsome Guy Seeking Abuse”, wearing a deep blue sect uniform and holding a shining bow and arrow in his hand.
He Xuyang pointed at that Tang Sect person and said, “Zewen, go up and kill him using the method I just told you.”
“Okay.” Wu Zewen nodded, took a few steps forward, and pressed the ready button.
A countdown of 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 appeared on the screen, and following the appearance of the word “start”, the Tang Sect person suddenly jumped behind Wu Zewen. Before Wu Zewen could turn around, a large patch of green light flew from behind —
Heart-piercing Arrow, Life-taking Arrow, Heart-piercing Arrow, Life-taking Arrow!
Sorry, you have been seriously injured!
Wu Zewen looked at the master lying on the ground and asked with some confusion, “He’s dead just like this?”
“Yeah.” Directly witnessing his academic tyrant roommate being killed, dazed and confused, was really a soothing thing! Suppressing the urge to laugh, He Xuyang said seriously, “It’s okay, try again. Get up and get rid of him.”
Then, Wu Zewen got up, and after that, he fell down again.
Heart-piercing Arrow, Life-taking Arrow, Heart-piercing Arrow, Life-taking Arrow.
… Sorry, you have been seriously injured!
His fingers couldn’t react in time, and was killed directly by the opponent again.
Wu Zewen was very puzzled, “I haven’t even moved and he’s dead…”
He Xuyang’s stomach was about to cramp from laughing, feeling a sense of achievement watching his academic tyrant roommate earnestly ask what was going on. What was going on? Of course, it was because you were too inexperienced, being killed before you could even react. The gap in level was too large!
“Come, watch me.”
He Xuyang sat back triumphantly on the chair and manipulated his own master to challenge the Tang Sect person again. The situation was reversed 180 degrees and in less than ten seconds, He Xuyang killed the Tang Sect person.
“See, just fight him like this, you can kill him very quickly.” He Xuyang said with a look of pride on his face.
“Oh.” Wu Zewen stood by the side, watching attentively. After a while, he said, “Let me try again.”
He Xuyang immediately gave up his seat to him.
Wu Zewan was knocked down five times in a row, but wasn’t discouraged. After dying, he got up and continued to fight. After dying again, he got up again…
After being knocked down forty times in a row, He Xuyang finally realized that he seemed to have… gone too far?
Wu Zewen looked very quiet and gentle, but he had a deep-seated sense of unwillingness to accept defeat. He took everything he did very seriously, and the result of taking everything seriously meant… dying forty times in a row, a full forty times!
Seeing him die again and again, and getting up again and again to continue dying…
He Xuyang finally reminded with a trembling voice, “Uh, Zewen, you’ve played forty rounds already…”
Wu Zewen held the mouse, his black shining eyes staring closely at the computer screen, and said seriously, “I’ll play a few more times.”
… Sorry, you have been seriously injured.
… Sorry, you have been seriously injured.
… Sorry, you have been…
He Xuyang was already speechless.
After dying ten more times, the Tang Sect person on the other side became a little impatient and said bluntly, “Hey, newbie, do you really know how to play? Why not accept me as you master, and I’ll teach you properly?”
Wu Zewen said, “No need, I’m going to eat first.”
The Tang Sect person, “…”
He Xuyang, “…”
Wu Zewen calmly got up, picked up his meal card, and went downstairs to eat.
He left behind his stunned roommates, tears streaming down their faces.
My points… a whole week’s worth of points was lost just like that…
He Xuyang sent a message to the Tang Sect person in the game, “Li Xiang, you idiot! Who told me that using provocative methods to lure Wu Zewen into playing games would definitely work? The provocative method didn’t work at all! He already went downstairs to eat!”
Tang Sect Handsome Guy, “…”
He Xuyang was nearly angered to death, “I lost all my points accompanying you to act out this play. Quickly lie down and let me abuse you for a few games to get my points back.”
Li Xiang immediately sent a waving goodbye emoji, “I’m going to eat too, goodbye.”
And then he quickly went offline.
He Xuyang, “…”

In the cafeteria, Li Xiang spotted Wu Zewen lining up for food at a glance.
Amidst the noisy queue, as he stood there, though there was no expression on his face, his fair skin, gentle appearance, and calm demeanor made him quite conspicuous in the crowd…
Wu Zewen, the Physics Department’s academic tyrant who received scholarships every year, actually didn’t have many friends in his class. Apart from the few roommates he usually spent time with, Li Xiang was his only friend.
This was partly due to his reticent personality. Some people thought that he was aloof because of his excellent grades, but in reality, only those who knew him well understood… he suffered from prosopagnosia and often couldn’t recognize people he had met the day before.
During his sophomore year, a girl from the neighboring class had a crush on Wu Zewen and got introduced to him through Li Xiang. When they first met, the girl blushed and didn’t know what to say. Wu Zewen patiently waited for a while, then looked at his watch and said, “I’m going to the library, are you coming?”
The girl’s heart raced! It was said that the romance between academic tyrants often started with studying together. Was Wu Zewen asking her to study together? Did this mean she had a chance? Excitedly, the girl followed the academic tyrant for self-study.
But as it turned out…
She had thought too much.
Wu Zewen went to the library to read, and from beginning to end, kept taking notes intently, not glancing at her even once. He had said he was going to the library to read, simply because he went to the library to study every day. It was his routine, and had nothing to do with anyone else…
The girl packed up her shattered feelings and returned to the dormitory.
The next day, the girl saw Wu Zewen on campus. Blushing and with a pounding heart, she walked up to him and greeted, “Hi! Zewen, are you going to class?”
Wu Zewen looked at her confusedly, “Do we know each other?”
The girl, “…”
In college, the only girl who wanted to pursue Wu Zewen was scared away by the face-blind academic tyrant.

Prologue 002- Li Xiang ( Part 1)
Wu Zewen was lining up for food when his shoulder was suddenly tapped. He turned around to see a boy looking at him with a smile.
— Li Xiang, the class monitor of the Physics Department Class One, Wu Zewen’s best friend.
Completely different from Wu Zewen’s paralyzed face, Li Xiang was a typical sunny and handsome guy, always wearing a smile on his face and seemed to be in a good mood. This kind of optimistic guy very easily infected those around him, making them feel good too. Li Xiang just had this magical charm. He often hosted various activities, and wherever he was, there was never a dull moment.
He joined the Student Union in freshman year, the Club Department in sophomore year, the Youth League Committee in junior year…
In college, enthusiastic and cheerful people like Li Xiang were the most popular among classmates. Even more, he was particularly loyal. Whenever he went out to eat with friends, he would take the initiative to pay the bill. Whenever the girls in class had to move their computers, lift tables, or perform other laborious activities, as long as he saw it, he would always take the initiative to lend a helping hand. Coupled with his height of 1.85 meters and quite handsome looks, he could be said to be the type that had an extensive network of friends, with friends spread all over the place.
The fact that two people with such different personalities could actually become friends was unimaginable to many.
In fact, there was a rather embarrassing dark history behind how the two could become friends.
According to the record in The Memoirs of Li Xiang: During freshman military training, on a certain afternoon, the instructor asked everyone to sit under the tree shade to talk about life and dreams. When the instructor asked, “Students, what are your ideals¹?” Student Li Xiang², who had been dozing off, immediately stood up at attention, “Here! Instructor, are you calling me?”
Everyone, “…”
The instructor looked at him as if looking at an idiot, and then punished Li Xiang by making him run ten thousand meters.
Student Li Xiang completed running ten thousand meters, and was panting heavily from exhaustion. After coming back, he picked up the water bottle on the ground and poured water into his mouth like crazy. He had just finished drinking half of it when he suddenly felt a focused gaze on the side of his face. Li Xiang turned his head to see a bespectacled boy looking at him silently with a calm expression. Li Xiang gave him a friendly smile and took the initiative to greet him, “Classmate, do you need something?”
The boy calmly said, “The one you’re holding is my water bottle.”
Li Xiang, “…”
Lifting the water bottle and taking a look, he saw that on both the front and back of the bottle were three very very large words written in proper handwriting: Wu Zewen.
Li Xiang awkwardly handed the water bottle over, “Sorry, I didn’t see it.”
Wu Zewen glanced at him, hugged the water bottle, turned around and walked away expressionlessly.
Li Xiang stood in place, blushing — such large words, saying that I hadn’t seen it, would he think I’m an idiot?
Many years later, on his birthday on the 22nd, Li Xiang couldn’t help but post on Weibo: “It seems that for all the best friends around me, the first time we met had been when I was being silly? Is everyone’s first impression of me very ‘silly³’?
A group of people happily lined up to retweet —
Hello Second Junior Brother!
It was quite silly indeed!
So silly!
Extremely silly!
You really have self-awareness!
… Li Xiang burst into tears.
***
In fact, besides the fact that Wu Zewen was his good friend, the more important reason why Li Xiang instigated Wu Zewen’s roommate to use provocation to entice Wu Zewen into playing online games was: he wanted to form a team for arena battles, but unfortunately lacked enough players.
In this game, Wulin, the arena had a very strict point-based leveling system. Team matches were 6v6 team battles, and you could enter into a randomly formed team yourself, or form a team in advance for the match. It was naturally easier to win with a fixed team formed with people you know. Randomly formed team members would be completely unfamiliar to you. It was guaranteed that there would be someone who got disconnected midway, be AFK for meals, give away kills in anger…
The most terrifying thing was not god-like opponents but pig-like teammates!
There were three people in Li Xiang’s dorm, plus two from He Xuyang’s dorm. There were only those five students in the physics class playing this game, not enough to form a full team of six. With five people and lacking one, it was really frustrating having to form a team with strangers all the time, so Li Xiang planned to drag Wu Zewen into the game, preferably to have him play as a healer to help increase everyone’s blood…
It was a pity that Wu Zewen had played with his Tang Sect for fifty whole games, and then went downstairs to eat as if nothing had happened.
Li Xiang was truly in tears!
Attracting academic tyrants to play games wasn’t just a physical job, it was also a mental job!
Wu Zewen lowered his head and ate his meal seriously, very quickly finishing all the food on his plate.
Looking up, he saw Li Xiang tilting his head, seemingly lost in thought. Wu Zewen couldn’t help but ask, “What’s wrong?”
Li Xiang touched his nose and said, “Zewen, are you really not interested in playing online games? This game is different from other games. It has a well-established official professional league with many star teams and players. It’s very popular, and the game’s balance was also done exceptionally well.”
Wu Zewen decisively said, “Not interested.”
“…” Li Xiang paused for a moment, then continued to persuade him, “It’s okay if you don’t like playing in the arena, the sceneries in the game are also very beautiful, and there are also many fun dungeons and daily activities. A new server will open in September. Do you want to go to the new server to check it out?”
Wu Zewen thought for a moment and said, “No need.”
Li Xiang was extremely helpless!
Academic tyrants have never played online games, so it was normal for him to not be interested. Moreover, Wu Zewen was a decisive person. His decisions were rarely changed once made. It was like when we encountered a question in an exam, and weren’t sure whether to choose option B or C. We would hesitate for a long time… but Wu Zewen wouldn’t. Once he finished calculating the answer, choosing B meant choosing B, the kind of character that had never changed the answer once he filled it in.
It was at this moment that Li Xiang’s phone suddenly rang. It was a call from the homeroom teacher.
Li Xiang answered the phone and heard Teacher Zhang on the other end, speaking in a gentle tone, “Li Xiang, are you free? Can you come to the Student Affairs Office?”
Li Xiang hurriedly said, “Okay, Teacher Zhang, I’ll be right there.”
***
When Li Xiang hurriedly arrived at the Student Affairs Office, he saw two female teachers sitting in the office seemingly chatting. The homeroom teachers in universities did not have to teach, but mainly handled the students’ various life and psychological issues. Most of them were senior brothers and sisters who remained at school, so they were all quite young.
Li Xiang naturally knew Teacher Zhang from their Physics Department, but he had never seen the other young female teacher before.
Li Xiang politely knocked on the door. Teacher Zhang looked up and said, “Come in.”
Li Xiang walked into the office and asked with a smile, “Teacher, do you need anything from me?”
Teacher Zhang said, “Li Xiang, there’s something I’d like to ask of you. I remember your dormitory has always had only three people, right?”
“That’s right.” Li Xiang nodded.
Teacher Zhang said, “Your dormitory is a quad room, there’s still one empty bed. Would it be convenient to vacate it in the next few days?”
Li Xiang was taken aback.
Most of the boys in the Physics Department lived on the fourth floor. Because there were an extra three, Li Xiang and his two roommates had been assigned to the third floor. These past few years, their dormitory, Room 301, had always only been occupied by three people. The extra bed was naturally used to place luggage, various boxes, clothes, and cardboard boxes…
For things like luggage, the more you neglect to organize it, the more it inexplicably accumulates…
The originally empty bed was now piled up like a mountain.
However, since the teacher suddenly asked to vacate the bed, Li Xiang couldn’t directly refuse. He nodded and said, “Teacher, we have been using that bed to store luggage, and over the years, we have piled up quite a lot of things. The dormitory is a bit messy and would take some time to clean up. Is someone going to move in? Is it urgent?”
“It’s not too urgent, just sort it out within three days.” Teacher Zhang paused and added, “I originally didn’t want to trouble you guys, but the beds in the school dormitories are in high demand, and there are also many new students this year. The Logistics Department checked that only your dormitory still had an empty bed. Since a student is moving in and there’s no available bed, I thought of asking you to sort it up and vacate the empty bed for him.”
— In other words, someone suddenly parachuted in looking for a dormitory? What exactly was the background of this airborne person?
