For a girl who has always been obsessed with everything romance from movies to novels to audiobooks and random YouTube shorts to fantasy and dreams of my future love, my romance life started off pretty messy and rocky
Everything was messy from the very beginning

I consider myself playful, responsible, confident, outspoken and cheerful some might consider me hardworking some patient some would say clumsy in a way

So how exactly did I end up in a rocky romance situation you may ask
Lorenzo Romano, an architect and former owner of Romano Companies had to sell his company and properties to stay afloat after going bankrupt
The once cheerful household was filled with sighs and loud silence. Lorenzo sat in his study most of the time now since it was his favorite part of the house, and they had to sell the house too and move to a smaller house
His wife Camellia would occasionally bring coffee as an excuse to see her now depressed husband. Just being there with him usually eased him.

Amelia and Alessia were just 20 and 18 respectively at the time.
They moved to a smaller house in a loud bubbly environment unlike their previous quiet estate home.
Everything felt different
It was a major decline from their former mansion and lavish life

A loan of 5 million dollars while he sorted out other minor ones

I mean he still had connections and was considered a senior architect and mum had a successful supermarket
But he also still wanted a taste of luxury.

I got too but maybe 1 in a year compared to their 5 in a year

Alessia was basically the spoiled child
I love her, but it's the truth
She didn't agree to go to a public university with me, she wanted to maintain prestige and class
She was the kind of girl to date 3 guys at a time ... just because
She found her own means of drawing out money and my parents didn't complain I mean she was smart and brought honor to the family name through academic success and how fast she made connections with people, so she was allowed to do what she wanted

Though I know they love me, but they take advantage of how much I want to help them manage

She gave silent sobs as she looked out of the window of the car
She was being taken away for only God knows how long
After about an hour and 30 minutes they arrived at the Harrison family house
It was massive
The car was parked, and a butler came to take Victoria's bag from her
Everywhere felt strange to Amelia
She got down from the car and shrunk to a corner hoping to disappear

The butler nodded and led Amelia inside
Amelia curiously looked around the massive house
Victoria's voice brought her attention back

It's so sad you were born into such a family. They dumped you like trash

*sniffs and wipes her tears that started falling again*

Well you're going to work your ass off basically without pay

JJ, the butler will give you your uniform. You'll replace two of the cleaners who will be moved to another property.

According to my calculation after about 30 years you would have worked the remaining debt off

*sighs in despair and stumbles backward*

You start work tomorrow *walks upstairs*

The butler took her to her room
She just sat on the bed throughout that night crying
Victoria invited her two sons to the house that night
She wanted Amelia to be humiliated in front of both of her sons
The next morning, Amelia woke up hoping it was a dream
She was faced by the unfamiliar wall and room design

Oh Lord no it's real *sighs shakily*
She walked out still in the same outfit
She was silently hoping no one was up yet since she woke up pretty early by 6am
She walked out carefully and used about 5 minutes to locate the kitchen to get water
She finally got to the kitchen and took a bottle of water.
She walked out of the kitchen with the bottle of water and stayed in the dining area just staring into space.
She took a glass cup and poured the water to drink.
As she was drinking water the heavy mahogany door opened and two guys walked in
Amelia stared at them
Two beautiful men
Two men walked in through the front door, fresh from what looked like a morning jog
The taller one carried himself with a quiet confidence, his dark hair slightly tousled and a pair of dimples appearing as he exchanged a brief smile with the younger man beside him. His athletic build and calm presence made him difficult to ignore.
Beside him was the other guy looked equally fit but with a more playful energy
He looked a little younger, his expression lighter, as if he carried the kind of smile that came easily
They looked unmistakably related, yet each had a distinct presence of his own.
Caleb faced forward after a vrief laugh and saw her
He looked at the glass cup on her hand and called out to the butler
Caleb
Please throw that cup away
It's been contaminated
*looks away with disgust and walks upstairs*
Ethan
Oof *smirks and follows Caleb after a brief glance at her*
Amelia stared with her mouth open as she looked back and forth from the cup in her hand to the guys

Did that black singlet guy just say I contaminated it with my mouth
*looking embarrassed and wronged *

Chapter 3
The butler came and collected the glass cup
He went to the trash can and threw the cup away
Amelia stood surprised
Her face began to develop a pink tint from embarrassment
She got handed her uniform, and so she went to freshen up and changed into it
She was still silently wondering how her life drastically changed overnight
It was time for breakfast and the whole family was present at the dining table
The chef had served their delicacies about 5 different meals
Amelia stood at the corner of the living room as each member of the family ate their meal
She occasionally glanced at the table she was starving since she had not had a single meal since she came to the house

Oh come over here Amelia
Amelia
*her eyes widened as she was taken by surprise*
Amelia
*walks over slowly still holding unto the broom firmly so much that her small hands had lost color*
Victoria
Boys, this is Amelia
The new maid
Victoria
She will be doing the job of two since her parents clearly can't pay up their debts
Victoria
For the time you'll be spending here
feel free to trouble her and send her on errands

I mean that's her job here

*nods and walks away*
Soon enough they were done eating and each of them dispersed
Amelia had class at the university
She needed to ask for permission urgently, so she went around asking the staffs if they knew where she was
it didn't help that this house was very big

*it's him again* she thought

I... I need to ask for permission to go out
His voice was deep and domineering
it was scary
She flinched at his words

Panic rushed through her chest

He stayed silent causing her to panic even more

He yanked her hand off roughly which caused her to fall

He walked away angrily while she stared with panic as she stayed in her position on the floor
Thousands of thoughts flooded her head
Was her life going to get wasted just like that
Was she really never going back to the university
Ethan happened to see what happened from upstairs
Amelia stood up and ran to the garden she sat on the chair amidst the garden, curled up and began crying.
Her heart leaped in panic
She stood up quickly and wiped her tears

Uh... I came here to get um... a mop
Ethan
You got lost trying to find a mop and got led to the garden
Amelia
I meant um.. a mop for the fountain
Ethan
Relax ... I know you came here to clear your head and that's fine
Ethan
I'm Ethan *stretches his hand for a handshake*

Won't I contaminate your hand if I shake you *gave a small laugh and sniffed*
Ethan
You have a point, but I'm willing to take the risk *smiles*
She shook his hand briefly

So why were you crying

I have to go for classes
Ethan
Isn't today Saturday
Amelia
Yes but a class was arranged for my project coming up next week
it's really important

But you brother won't let me

You just got here, and all staffs here are full time workers asides the gardener and maintenance staffs

But we can figure something out

Really *looks up at him with hope*

We'll work something out for Monday okay

Thank you so much *moves forward as if to hug him but step back cautiously still smiling*

Good luck finding the mop *smiles and walks away*
Amelia made sure he had gone before she jumped and twirled in relief
At least that burden was gone
She wiped her face and adjusted her dress before walking back into the mansion
