The boy ran through the chaos, heading towards a tall building that had a sign with "medical store" written on it. He reached the building, gripping the handle tightly with his hands and immediately shouting, "Hey, let me in! I need some meds. Could you give me some meds?"

"Young man go away.." a person appeared from within the store, responding to the boy.

They were taking shelter inside the medical store and had locked it because of the news reporting that monsters..vicious creatures.. had broken the barrier of District 13 and were now attacking people.

The person inside immediately responded to the boy's pleas. "Young man, we are closed for now. There are no meds, and we can't open the door. Sorry."

"Hey, let me in!" The boy gritted his teeth and shouted furiously. "I've got money! Is it not money that you want? I have the money, just give me the meds!"

His sister was badly hurt due to drinking contaminated water, and no ordinary medicine could cure her. The new medicine made nowadays contained a unique purification core. The boy didn't know exactly what that was, but from the rumors and stories he had noticed, it was a purification core used by certain hunters to revive their own people.

"Take the money!"

This little money here, he had earned it from underground wrestling. His entire face was swollen, his cheeks were badly bruised, and his knuckles were covered in blood that spilled over from the skin.

"No, sir, we can't open the door," the voice inside yelled. "We can't open the door, and we aren't selling !"

"Damn it!" The boy gritted his teeth, hitting the door repeatedly.

All around him, everyone was looking for shelter as monsters invaded the area. But for him, he had been running headfirst through the danger just to reach this store and secure medicine for his sister. And now he wasn't even allowed inside, just because the shopkeepers were hiding safely within the shop.

Gritting his teeth, the boy ran away from the place, realizing he needed to find somewhere to hide from this tide before he was caught by a creature. Thinking of this, without further delay, the boy ran toward another building.

But the door to that building was also locked. Everyone was taking shelter, hiding away behind closed doors, leaving absolutely no way for him to get inside.

"Open up the door! Open up the door!" The boy knocked heavily against the entrance and caught sight of a group of people hiding within the shadows of the building. None of them listened to his frantic shouting, completely refusing to open up.

The boy gritted his teeth as a loud announcement echoed through the streets: The monsters have broken the barrier! Monsters are now inside District 13. Please take shelter. Stay safe. The hunters are on their way. The hunters are on their way.

The boy gritted his teeth in anger.

The hunters were not to be trusted.

It would take a long time before any hunters arrived. They always focused their attention on protecting the higher districts.

The people of District 13 were poor and lacked the money to buy proper protection.

The hunters only cared about the people of the higher class, leaving everyone here to perish, those who hadn't died yet would simply be the ones to die next.

The boy kept running. Then, he spotted a building where the door was left wide open. He dashed inside, finding that nobody was there. The boy smiled, thinking that he had finally found a safe place to hide.

But then, a chilling growl echoed from directly behind him.

The boy shuddered, his body trembling violently as his legs moved faster than his brain could process. A monster was hidden inside this very building. That was why the place was completely empty, unless the creature had already slaughtered every single survivor who had tried to take shelter here.

The boy started running again, sprinting for his life as he tried to make it back home. There was nowhere left to hide now that the monsters had broken through the Rift. He had never expected to find himself trapped in this terrifying situation.

Johnny kept running as the monster chased him down. He had never run like this in his life. He had always managed to hide away in quiet places whenever the monsters broke through the Rift, making this the very first time a monster was actively hunting him down.

Johnny ran, desperately fleeing for his life. He kept sprinting forward, leaping over several piles of debris and discarded items that blocked his path. He didn't stop. He couldn't stop. He kept pushing forward, but there was no way a normal human could outrun a monster.

Just as he thought he had safely made it close to his home, something sharp slashed through the air right in front of him. The monster caught up, and a massive claw swung directly at him, driving deep into his gut.
