The Cursed Bride - Taekook
The Funeral
The sky was covered with dark clouds, matching the gloomy atmosphere of the cemetery.
A cold breeze brushed past the rows of white and grey tombstones as people gathered around a freshly dug grave.
Some had come to pay their respects. Others had come out of curiosity. And a few were there simply because they wanted to witness the funeral of the man who had become the latest victim of the so-called 𝗖𝗨𝗥𝗦𝗘 𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗗𝗘.
Standing silently in front of the grave was Kim Taehyung.
He was dressed in a plain black suit, the color making his pale face look even more lifeless. His eyes were swollen from crying, but there were no tears left to shed.
It felt as if his body had forgotten how to cry after spending the last 2 days drowning in grief. His trembling hands held a bouquet of white lilies.
The same flowers that had decorated his wedding aisle barely forty eight hours ago.
Now they were being offered as a farewell.
The priest finished the final prayer, and the mourners slowly stepped forward to place flowers beside the coffin.
Taehyung remained rooted to the spot, staring at the polished wooden casket that was about to disappear beneath the earth forever.
His lips parted slightly.
Kim Taehyung - O
I'm... sorry.
His voice was so soft that even the wind almost carried it away.
Kim Taehyung - O
I'm so sorry, Minjae.
The workers slowly lowered the coffin into the grave. With every inch it disappeared, another piece of Taehyung's heart seemed to sink with it.
A painful ache spread through his chest, making it difficult to breathe.
He couldn't understand it.
Just yesterday morning, Choi Minjae had been standing beside him, smiling as he adjusted Taehyung's wedding ring and teasing him for being nervous.
But Now...He was gone..Forever.
A hand gently rested on Taehyung's shoulder. He didn't have to turn around to know who it was.
Kim Soojin - Tae's aunt (O)
Taehyung,
Kim Soojin - Tae's aunt (O)
You should step back, dear.
He obeyed without saying a word. His movements were slow, seems almost mechanical, as though someone else was controlling his body.
Kim Soojin slipped her arm around his shoulders, silently supporting him as they watched the workers begin covering the grave with soil.
She looked at her nephew with concern and gently squeezed his shoulder.
Kim Soojin - Tae's aunt (O)
You haven't eaten anything since yesterday,
Kim Soojin - Tae's aunt (O)
Come home with me. You need to rest.
Taehyung kept staring ahead.
Kim Taehyung - O
I don't think I can.
Kim Taehyung - O
I was supposed to go home with him today.
His voice cracked at the last word. Soojin's expression softened
She carefully pulled him into a side hug and rubbed his arm.
Kim Soojin - Tae's aunt (O)
I know.... You've been through too much.
For a brief second, Taehyung leaned against her shoulder like a child searching for comfort.
She had raised him ever since he was little. She had been there after every tragedy. Every heartbreak. Every funeral.
She was the only family he had left.
Kim Taehyung - O
I killed him,

The Curse
Kim Taehyung - O
I killed him,
Taehyung whispered. Soojin immediately shook her head.
Kim Soojin - Tae's aunt (O)
No.
Kim Soojin - Tae's aunt (O)
You didn't.
Kim Taehyung - O
He married me...
His breathing became uneven.
Kim Taehyung - O
And now he's dead.
She gently cupped his face, making him look at her
Kim Soojin - Tae's aunt (O)
Listen to me carefully.
Her voice remained calm, carrying the same warmth that had comforted him since childhood.
Kim Soojin - Tae's aunt (O)
What happened to Minjae was a terrible accident. It was not your fault.
Kim Taehyung - O
But everyone-
Kim Soojin - Tae's aunt (O)
I don't care what everyone says.
Taehyung looked at her with tear-filled eyes.
Kim Taehyung - O
They're right.
Kim Soojin - Tae's aunt (O)
No, they are not.
Kim Taehyung - O
Four people, Aunt.
Kim Taehyung - O
Four people married me... and all four people died
Soojin wiped away the tear that escaped his eye.
Kim Soojin - Tae's aunt (O)
People are cruel when they don't understand something.
Kim Soojin - Tae's aunt (O)
They need someone to blame...And unfortunately...
Her thumb gently brushed against his cheek.
Kim Soojin - Tae's aunt (O)
They chose you.
Taehyung lowered his head. If only it were just strangers. Even he had started believing them.
Because how could anyone explain this?
The third husband had died in a car accident. The second had suddenly collapsed after breakfast.
The First had been electrocuted in his own clinic.....And now...Minjae had died in a house fire before they had even completed twenty-four hours as husband and husband.
Different deaths...Different places. But the only thing they had in common...
The silence surrounding the grave was suddenly interrupted by the sound of camera shutters.
📸Click.....📸Click....📸Click.
Taehyung slowly turned his head. Several reporters stood a few feet away, ignoring the grieving family as they zoomed their cameras toward him.
One reporter lowered his microphone and spoke loudly enough for everyone to hear.
Taehyung closed his eyes.
Kim Taehyung - O
**Not today... Please... Not today.**

The Curse Bride
Reporter
Do you think your husbands die because of your curse?
The questions came one after another..None of them asked how he was feeling.
None of them offered condolences.
To them...He wasn't a grieving husband. He was breaking news.
The security guards quickly stepped in and stopped the reporters from coming any closer.
Security guard
Please move back.....This is a private funeral.
The reporters reluctantly stayed behind the barricades, but their voices continued to echo through the cemetery.
One middle-aged woman standing nearby looked at Taehyung with pity before quietly saying to the person beside her,
The man next to her scoffed.
Unknown
Poor? The poor one is lying inside that coffin.
Unknown
If my son had married him, I'd never forgive myself.
Another woman joined the conversation.
Random lady
My Alpha daughter wanted to marry into the Kim family once....I thanked God when that proposal never happened.
Random lady
They say he's been cursed since birth.
Someone else corrected her.
Unknown
They say anyone who marries him dies.
The words reached Taehyung one by one, Like tiny knives..He had heard them countless times before.
At first, he used to deny them. Then he tried ignoring them....Now...
He simply accepted them. Maybe they were right. Maybe he really was cursed.
Maybe love wasn't meant for someone like him....Soojin noticed the way his shoulders slowly slumped.
Without saying anything, she gently took his hand.
Kim Soojin - Tae's aunt (O)
Let's go home.
This time...Taehyung didn't argue. He gave the grave one last look. The workers had almost finished covering it.
Fresh soil now hid the coffin from sight. The flowers he had placed moments ago rested quietly above it.
His fingers tightened around his wedding ring. A ring that had barely been on his hand for a single day
Kim Taehyung - O
I'm sorry,
He whispered once more, his voice breaking.
Kim Taehyung - O
I couldn't protect you.
With one final glance at the grave, Taehyung turned around and walked away, unaware that dozens of cameras were capturing his every step.
By the time he reached the black car waiting outside the cemetery, the photographs of his grief had already begun spreading across television channels and social media.
Once again, the country had only one headline to talk about.
