The school bell rang, and students rushed through the hallway, laughing and talking. I walked quietly with my head down, hoping no one would notice me.

"There she is," one girl whispered.

"She's so weird," another laughed.

Someone bumped into my shoulder on purpose, and my books fell to the floor. Everyone laughed while I picked them up by myself. No one helped me.

Every day was the same. I was bullied, ignored, and treated like I didn't matter. At home, things weren't much better. I smiled through the pain because I didn't want anyone to know how much I was hurting.

People called me names, spread rumors, and acted like I didn't belong. Every night I cried myself to sleep, wondering why everyone hated me.

But deep inside, something was changing.

I heard every word, but I kept walking.

Someone shoved me from behind, causing me to stumble. My books slipped from my hands and scattered across the hallway. The laughter echoed through the halls.

I slowly bent down and picked up my books. This time, I didn't cry.

Instead, I stood up, looked straight ahead, and walked away without saying a word.

The bullies looked confused. They expected tears. They expected me to break.

But I didn't.

During lunch, I sat alone like always. As I stared out the window, a quiet voice interrupted my thoughts.

"Can I sit here?"

I looked up and saw a girl I'd never spoken to before.

"Sure," I replied softly.

She smiled.

"My name is Maya. I've seen what they've been doing to you. You don't deserve any of it."

For a moment, I didn't know what to say.

No one had ever stood up for me before.

Maybe I wasn't as alone as I thought.

As the final school bell rang, I walked home with a tiny smile on my face.

Things weren't perfect.

The bullying hadn't stopped.

But something inside me had changed.
