He took the private elevator up. Swiped his keycard. Walked into a 3 billion won penthouse that felt like a hotel. Cold. Perfect. Empty. He kicked off his heels. Unbuttoned the top 3 buttons of his shirt. Wiped the smile off his face with both hands, like he could scrub it away. 4 seconds. From "Kim Taehyung" to just himself.

Then he walked to the wall of books. C Pressed the third book from the left. Click. The shelf slid open. * Light spilled out. And there was Vani.

Kim Vantae Pov

The door opened at 3:14AM. Right on time. It was always 3:14. He was sitting on the floor. Paint on his knees. Canvas in front of him. It was Tae again. Stage lights. Microphone. Eyes that looked like they hadn't slept in a week's

Tae1 stood in the doorway. Suit wrinkled. Makeup gone. Hair a mess from the cap. He looked 16 again. The boy who used to sneak in with a guitar and steal his snacks

Vani nodded. Stood up. His legs were stiff from sitting for hours

The room was warm. Fairy lights. Plants in the corner. Two cats, Ink and Brush, weaving around Tae ankles like he belonged here. Because he did. Tae dropped to the floor with him. No table. They never used the table. Vani pushed the bowl over. Miso. His favorite.

For 10 minutes they didn't talk. Just the sound of spoons. Of brushes in water. Of breathing. Vani watched him out of the corner of his eye. The way Tae shoulders finally dropped The way his hands stopped shaking. Out there, Tae was perfect. Here, he was allowed to be tired.

Another lie. To protect this. Vani hated that his brother had to lie. Hated more that he was the reason.

Tae looked at him then. Really looked. 25 years. Same face. Different life. Vani hair was longer. His eyes were calmer. He didn't flinch at loud noises anymore.

He gestured around the room. To the walls. To the cage that was also the only place they were free. Tae reached out. His thumb brushed paint off Vani cheek. Blue. Vani didn't move away. Neither did Tae. The air got heavy. Not in a bad way. In a we've been dancing around this for years way. Tae hand stayed on his face. Vani breath caught.

And then Tae leaned in. It was soft. Not desperate. Not rushed. Just... home. A kiss. Familiar. Like they'd done it in a hundred daydreams and were finally brave enough to do it awake. Tae hand came up to cup Vani jaw. Vani hand found Tae wrist, not to push away, just to hold on. It lasted maybe 5 seconds. Long enough to be real. Short enough that they could still pretend it didn't mean everything. They pulled back. Foreheads still touching. Breathing each other's air.

Neither said sorry. Because they weren't.

The moment the door opened and he saw him, his chest unlocked. Out there he was Kim Taehyung. The idol. The brand. The smile. In here he was just Tae. Vani brother. Vani person. Because Vani always saw the truth. Even when Tae hid it from 10 million people. "Do you hate me?" The question slipped out. He needed to know. Needed to know if 20 years of this was selfish. Vani answer broke him. "I hate that you have to come back to this." Not I hate you. Never that. Tae1 hand moved before his brain could stop it. Thumb against Vani cheek. Paint. Warm skin. Vani didn't flinch. And then he kissed him. It wasn't planned. It wasn't the first time they'd thought about it.

It was just the first time neither of them pulled away. * It tasted like miso and 3AM and every secret they'd kept. Vani hand on his wrist. Steady. Grounding. When they pulled apart, Tae first thought was oh. So that's what it feels like. No regret. Just terror. Because if anyone found out, this room would be gone. Vani would be gone.
