Title: Princess of Darkness
Main character's POV
"If I were given the chance to go back in time then I would change every single mistake I've ever made. That would come with dire consequences of course but I would do anything to change the course of what would be my entire life. Unfortunately I cannot so the answer to your question Miss Heather is that my aspirations amount to nothing so I have no dreams to achieve after my final year at this academy. " Once again my patience, courtesy of my father amounts to nothing but a thin thread. I felt a sharp urge to swat my best friend's finger away from my otherwise untidy pencil case and so I did. Her ever calm hazel eyes bore into mine as Miss Heather sighed once more and proceeded to ask Violet, my best friend what she wishes to do after her final year at this stuck up school. "Firstly I would apply for med school the most probable choice is Harvard University. Then I'd travel as much as possible before the beginning of the school year and lastly make sure my friend here Angel gets a proper dream or goal before college." I don't know what has gotten into her head but if she assumes I'll hang around her long enough for her goody two shoe influence to grasp me then she's got another thing coming.
Chapter 1~ Once again
Angel's POV
The whole day has been nothing but unsatisfactory. I spent most of it feeling somewhat angry at what happened this morning during Guidance and counseling. I tried to be civilized. I really did. Unfortunately most of the people in my class are annoying. Others refuse to submit homework on time so guess who does it? Me that's who. Some of them drag me by the shoulder, *my* shoulder. *Body contact *from people that assume they're funny or better yet my friends .
So by the time we were dismissed for the day I clutched my heavy backpack and rushed out of the room. "Do you really have to rush like that though?" Violet said from beside me. I ran my fingers through my dark hair and tugged it loose from its confinement. I pulled it out of the gap between my bag and my back then continued walking with Violet. She just gave me her everyday 'that was unnecessary' look which I grinned at.
We soon arrived at the parking lot where we would go our separate ways. I dragged her into the daily goodbye hug she always tries to avoid to no avail. When I let her go she glared at me then teleported to wherever she goes after school whilst I rummaged my bag for my headphones only to feel a cloth covering my mouth and nose. The smell irritated me but I felt my eyelids grow heavier each passing second until I saw darkness.
Ryland's POV
She's late..
She's never late.
Angelica Morningstar is the most punctual person I've ever met. So her being three hours late and not answering her phone is the most worrying thing if not infuriating.
I tried calling her again but all I heard was the mechanic voice telling me her phone is off. I paced because its the only thing I could do. Our father was in a very important meeting and our mother was somewhere I'd rather not know of so this was extremely difficult to handle.
"You look stressed," a deep voice said from behind me. I turned around to see Tyson leaning against the wall with his smug expression plastered on his face. "She's late." His smirk dropped "Define *late*." he said as he pulled out his phone. "Three hours," I said with a sigh. His fingers flew across his screen like a madman.
Finally after what seemed like an eternity, "She's been kidnapped." he spat through gritted teeth. "How do you know?" I asked. He threw his phone at me and grabbed his leather jacket on the way out. I sped after him my eyes glued to the screen as I saw my little sister get knocked out and dragged away.
Tyson looked livid as he got in his car, his jaw clenched, eyes burning with rage and breathing rapid. To be fair I was mad too. Extremely.
So as he drove to God knows where I called my father but unfortunately his phone was off. Once again . I hate our parents.
Angel's pov
I opened my eyes to be met with darkness. Complete utter darkness. "Hello! I want water!" I shouted into the darkness. "Trust me I can scream all night long idiots!" I rubbed my wrists together letting the ropes that bound me bite into my skin. I heard footsteps before cold water cascaded down my hair dripping onto my clothes. I scoffed, "You really don't know who I am? I'm a Morningstar and trust me once I get out of here I'll burn you alive." I glared at the dark figure. He chuckled "Lucifer's bastard wants to burn me? Ha! Don't make me laugh brat." I tried to lunge but the ropes held me in place. "I hope you burn in hell idiot!" I spat at him. Finally I felt the fibers of the rope snap before he poured more water on me. I waited till he tilted the bucket again before I lunged with my fangs bared and my eyes onyx black. I wrapped my hands around his neck squeezing with all my might before I felt it break. "Let's hear you laugh now." I leaned back against the cold musty wall my eyes returning to their usual amber glow. My head spinning at ninety miles an hour as whatever it was they gave me took effect.
I stumbled towards the door, trying to get out of the worn down building I was in. That's when I saw two figures in the hallway as soon as I opened the door. Their heads shot towards me in pure shock. "Well this is going to be fun." I said as my eyes bled black and my fangs potruded once more.
Tyson's POV
I slammed the brakes before the tyres had a chance to squeal. The old worn down building loomed over the both of us as we moved with unsettling speed. Just as we were about to kick the door open it creaked open. There she was bruised, fangs receding, raven black curls clinging to her face and neck like a second skin. Angel freaking Morningstar. "Oh hey!"
Did she really just-? "So there should be like two guys tied to a pole in there so of you go Rylie." Ryland stood there in shock as she limped towards my car clicking her slender fingers beckoning me over. Before I knew it my arms were wrapped around her waist like she would dissappear if I was to let her go."Hey I'm okay, y'know. You don't need to worry Ty." "It's my fault. I should've-" "It was a breach in security Tyson. You were busy. It's not your fault!" She snapped at me. Angel scrunched her nose, "I taste something bitter in my mouth." I pulled back enough to look at her properly, "Huh?" she stuck her tongue out. "My mouth tastes like lemon and salt," I gazed into her amber eyes. "If you want I can-" "Just do it already" she whispered. I buried my head in the crook of her neck letting myself inhale her scent. She smelt of strawberry and something else. Something dark. My fangs elongated and pierced through her neck letting her blood flow into my mouth. "Holy crap!" I spat her blood on the ground next to me, "It tastes like vervain." I murmured.
Angel's POV
Every part of my body throbbed as the hot water cascaded down my body, letting my tension ease.
"It tastes like vervain."
I rarely had vervain in my system. I only had it when Tyson invited me to his mansion and had his father's family there also.
Vampires in his family aren't really known for their self control. In fact its surprising that he has as much self control as he has right now. I wondered what else was in my system that I didn't know of. Tyson can't taste anything besides the burning sensation of the vervain when he tastes my blood so I have to live with whatever it is inside me till the vervain is out of my system. Assuming whatever is in me doesn't dissipate as well. I padded out the shower, dried off then wore one of Tyson's hoodies over my tank top and shorts. I opened the bottom cabinet and took out the first-aid kit I kept in there placing it on the bathroom counter. Only then did I stare at myself through the mirror.
My curly raven black hair was pushed back by my grey plush headband making it so that my hair cascaded down my back in shiny black curls till it ever so slightly grazed my waist. My amber eyes were dull and devoid of their usual mischievous glint. Blue and purple bruises scattered across my caramel skin and three long scratches graced my right cheek.
I gripped the white ceramic sink so hard I was afraid it would break at any moment. The door swung open to reveal Tyson striding towards me. His platinum blonde hair effortlessly messy and his cerulean blue eyes filled with concern. He stood behind me, rested his head on my shoulder and stared at me through the mirror. "I'm sorry for not being there for you princess," he murmured. His hands resting on my hips, tracing the hem of his hoodie on me. I sniffled before saying, "It's okay. It wasn't your fault Ty."
He ended up cleaning my wounds and bandaging them before sitting next to me while I was murmuring incoherent words wrapped in my dark purple blanket. I fell asleep to him caressing my hair.
For once I realized I wasn't alone. I had Tyson and that's more than enough.
Angel's POV
The next day
I walked down the corridor of my school.
My hair tied in a low ponytail bouncing as I made my way to class. I tugged my grey tie lower and unbuttoned the top of my white blouse before taking an exaggerated inhale. I rubbed my wrists as I turned a corner only to bump into someone. "Violet! Hi!" I smiled brightly at the brunette in front of me. Her hazel eyes drank me in slowly settling on my neck and face, "What happened to you?" I grinned, more fake than genuine. "Oh the usual! I got kidnapped by some werewolves I've never seen before," I lifted my index finger in a motion of checking something off my imaginary list. "Got water-boarded, strangled, oh and scratched on my face. Really its been quite a normal what, fourteen hours?"
Violet's hand wrapped around my bandaged wrist and dragged me towards Advanced Biology class. As we... correction, she pulled me there her hands glowed lilac. Subtly at first before it surrounded me fully. It was warm, like hot coffee on a cold Sunday evening.
When we reached the door she stopped, turned towards me and clicked her fingers. My bandages disappeared and so did the stinging pain. Her hazel eyes softened ever so slightly, the green flecks becoming more prominent than usual before she nodded towards the door of our class as if asking me whether I wanted to go there or not.
I smiled, not the usual cocky goofy one I show to everyone, but soft and genuine because that's what Violet Salvador was to me. She wasn't just anyone, she was my best friend, my calm and most importantly my therapist. No one could ever replace her even if they tried.
I walked in first, grinning from ear to ear, bouncing like a kid with a sugar rush. I made sure to wave at everyone before settling into my seat next to Violet, who slipped into class using my extroverted tendencies as a disguise for her quietness. Miss Avery our biology teacher smiled at all of us before mouthing a 'good morning' to Violet and I. She tilted her head closer to the class register and started roll call. I removed my notebook, which was shockingly pink, its shocking because almost everything I own is black heck even the manicure I got last weekend is black. Which reminds me, I have to buy more stuff for my room and Tyson. Speaking of Tyson where is he? He's rarely this late unless- "Morning Miss Avery!" Ahh there he is.
Tyson Salvatore is really one of the most important people in my life, not only that but the word punctuality didn't quite fit into his description. Now I've known him since I was ten. I've seen him show remorse and right now? He isn't showing any signs of it. Why you may ask? When Tyson is actually sorry his voice drops, his bright cerulean eyes lose their shimmer and he somehow looks.. lost I suppose but now? He stood there, fake pout, hands in his pockets and voice very very cocky for someone that's late.
"This is the second time this month Mr. Salvatore," Miss Avery said without lifting her dirty blonde head from the register. "I know and I apologize ma'am. I'm truly sorry but New York traffic is hectic in the morning surely you know that too." Sure. Charm yourself out of this one Salvatore. Miss Avery finally looked at him through her gold rimmed glasses, "Let's not make this a habit Mr. Salvatore, okay?" Tyson's mouth curled into a victorious smirk, "Yes ma'am."
His platinum blonde hair was messy and fell into his eyes as he walked towards his usual seat next to me. He plopped down next to me casually nodding at Violet before gazing at me with a smirk on his face. I folded my arms with a mock serious expression. "Hey princess," "I'll give you one goddamn minute to get your face away from my ear Salvatore." he chuckled before twisting a strand of my hair between his fingers and turning to face Miss Avery. I could see her lips moving but the words passed through my ears in incoherent strips. I could feel Tyson's warmth beside me, his scent filled my senses. He smelt like cinnamon and pine, it felt somewhat comforting more than Violet's presence did. I tugged my grey blazer lower to cover my palms before twisting my black pencil between my fingers.
The door opened and two people walked in. I threw my head back letting out a groan knowing why they were here. The taller male whispered something in Miss Avery's ear and she let out a sigh before gesturing towards us. The other male who was as pale as a sheet decided to be a 'gentleman' and basically ordered Violet, Tyson and I to 'follow' them. So I took my sweet time standing up and when I did I took my two friends' notebooks before walking to Miss Avery. "So here are our notebooks for marking since we'll be at the council meeting the rest of the day. I also wrote down the percentages of this week's test and the class average for the week. At the back of my notebook are everyone's class worksheets from both last and this week. Okay bye Miss Avery!" I side-eyed the two males that came to collect us and grabbed my black backpack from Tyson as we walked out of the room. The said male slung his arm over my shoulder as if it was second nature.
"Very impressive, princess." He whispered softly. The corners of my lips tugged into a smirk, "Is it still shocking at this point?" Violet muttered a 'Lovestruck idiots ' under her breath.
Tyson and I both turned towards her with shocked expressions, "We're not a thing, Vi!" I felt Tyson's arm move off my shoulder before settling on my waist. "She forgot to add yet, Violet." I rolled my eyes and continued walking behind our 'escorts'.
When we got there I took the seat by the window at the end of the mahogany table, "How nice of you three to join us." I groaned. "It's not like we wanna be here too Zander," I retorted as Violet patted my head as she walked to her seat at the middle of the table. Tyson snickered as he sunk into his chair next to me, "Wassup Zander."he said as he mock saluted the brunette standing up front.
"Now that everyone is here. Today's main agenda is the recent attack on the Red Moon pack."
Angel's POV
I sat there, mind wandering aimlessly, hair untied and eyes drooping slightly due to the endless amount of nonsense these council members spouted. My head bobbed and my pretty black pen that was covered in stickers slipped onto the floor. Everyone's eyes were on me now. It reminded me of my kindergarten plays and not in a good way. " Do you have anything to add Ms. Morningstar?" Xavier, a werewolf with alpha blood from the Howlers pack asked.
I ran my fingers through my black hair," Yes actually I do. "I stood up, walked to the front of the room where Zander stood and looked at everyone with my hands on the table." With all due respect, the plan you have suggested is absolute rubbish," some people gasped, others glared, Tyson smirked and Violet... she just sat there doodling stars in her notebook like nothing happened. "Reason being that the Red Moon pack is the most isolated pack in New York, sending reinforcements from the Black Moon pack only weakens the later. If we send warriors from the Black Moon pack who is to say that they won't be attacked?" I heard a high pitched voice cut in," So why shut down all our ideas now without a suggestion yourself? " I tilted my head sideways," I never said anything about not having a suggestion Sophia. See we're not sure whether these attacks are solely on the elemental wolves only so sending wolves from other packs is a no go area as I've stated. So the next best thing is to ask for help from other supernaturals. " Sophia cut in again," But the fairies are the closest and they don't believe in fighting. So what now? " If I didn't know any better I'd say you're being a curious learner, you whiny little b-" According to the map laid out infront of us the closest supernaturals are the Raven family vampires. The fairies are generally closer to other inhabited areas of forests, Sophia and you'd know that if you actually bothered to read like you're supposed to. "" And who's to say you're actually good at strategies Angel you're just a princess. A spoilt little brat. " Sophia glared at me with her brown eyes but before I could retort a deep voice cut in," Actually Sophia out of all the princesses in this room Angelica is the most experienced one in terms of war and strategy. That is why she's one of the senior representatives including the fact that she's actually participated in a war before. Her current suggestion is pretty much the best one out of all the previously mentioned ones. " Alexi said. I didn't need your help brat. Never have and never will.
I walked back to my seat locking eyes with a pair of golden ones. I could feel the tears sting and the way my fingers grazed my wrist again didn't go unnoticed by Tyson as I sat back down. He rubbed my back as I rummaged his bag for my pills. "Let's take a short break and regroup again in the next hour." As everyone filed out I took two white pills, glared at them like they'd change anything and swallowed them dry. No water. Then I walked out of the room faster than I normally do.
I reached the bathroom and removed my blazer, laying it on the counter. I ran my fingers through my hair, pushing it back before splashing my face with water. The whole plan was to stay in the bathroom for the whole hour before heading back but well that runs the risk of Tyson searching the whole building looking for me. I took my phone from my blazer and sunk onto the floor. I stared at the lockscreen before unlocking it and calling Tyson. He answered on the first ring as per usual, "Uhm... hi?" "Where are you?" he sounded worried. "The bathroom? The one on the third floor." "Should I come get you?" always soo considerate. "No. I'll... I'll be there after the break." "Call me if you need anything. Like even if it's to talk my ear off, 'kay?" "I'll let my secretary pencil you in for that Salvatore," I mumbled whilst twirling a strand of my hair. He chuckled, "Oh yeah? That would be great Morningstar." "Tell Violet I-I'll be there after the break, okay?"He sighed," I will. Don't worry about it. " I hung up afterwards. Then I glanced at my wrist, feeling everything I thought was buried deep within me swell up once more.
Alexi and I... we used to be close. Extremely close. It's just that after the incident we stopped talking completely. Sure we learnt at the same school but The Elite Stars Academy was huge. We barely saw each other and when we do I never handle it well. I tend to feel like I'm the reason we fell apart. The reason we can never have family dinners together again. The very same golden eyes that stared at me like I hung the stars are the very same ones that broke me. And all of this started with a simple dance.

Angel's POV
The underworld has always been divided. It's not just about Hell being separated into different sections but it was more than that. The first great war was a fight between the fallen angel and the god of the underworld. Lucifer vs Hades. It was intense. It broke souls, killed armies and destroyed relationships or so to speak. After a bloody decade, Lucifer and Hades reached a begrudging truce. Half and half. Fifty percent of the underworld went to Hades, the other to Lucifer. Every month as a symbol of peace, my father and Hades host a ball. During this ball, the first dance is shared by the heirs to the thrones at hand. The ball is hosted by the family that didn't host it the previous month and the first time I had the opening dance was on my fifteenth birthday.
My collar-length raven black hair was styled in loose waves, the silk red dress I wore clung to every curve and my silver ring gleamed under the light. I stood in a dark corner texting Tyson about how much of a boring night this turned out to be and how I'd much rather be watching a horrid movie with him at that very moment. "What's a pretty girl like you doing all by herself?" my amber eyes remained glued to my screen, "Texting, as you can see." Before the person could retort I heard the sound of shoes clicking towards us. Knowing that if my mother caught me using my phone during this 'joyous occasion' I'd be grounded I tucked my phone into my silver clutch and smoothed out my dress. Then I slowly moved my gaze from the boy's shoes, to his well ironed shirt (not that I noticed) and finally to his golden eyes that gleamed with amusement. Two men came to us, both with neutral expressions. I recognized the one on the left as my father and the other as Hades. "Pumpkin?" I heard the boy snort at my nickname, "Yes father?" "This is Hades, god of the underworld and I see you've met his son, Alexi. Hades, Alexi this is my wonderful daughter Angelica." I glanced at the boy dismissively before turning to his father, "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, sir." I said in a low voice, extending my hand for a handshake. His icy blue eyes met mine as he shook my hand and that's when everything went downhill. I thought after being introduced we would just go our separate ways but no fate said. I was basically forced to dance with Alexi and when I gazed into his beautiful, unique golden eyes I knew I was in trouble.
And trouble he was.
