Long before newspapers called the Vespers criminals...Long before politicians whispered their name behind closed doors...Long before fire turned memories into smoke...There stood a mansion on the northern cliffs overlooking the sea
People simply called it—
"The Vesper's Estate"
From the outside, it looked less like a mansion and more like a palace that had wandered out of another century Its walls were built from pale gray stone that glowed silver whenever it rained
Towering windows reflected the orange ocean
At sunrise, hundreds of white roses opened across the gardens, filling the air with a fragrance so familiar that every servant claimed they could identify a Vesper by scent alone full of power
Behind the estate stretched orchards, greenhouses, a glass conservatory, horse stables, a private library older than most universities, and a quiet lake where swans drifted like living clouds.
Visitors often assumed the estate must be heavily guarded
And it infact was
Hidden cameras watched every path.
Security teams worked around the clock.
The cliffs themselves were monitored by drones.
But the front gate...
Almost never remained locked.
That surprised everyone.
The answer was simple.
Victor Vesper once told a journalist with a smile,
"A locked gate tells people you're afraid."
"I'd rather they think they're welcome."
The journalist laughed
It seemed like a joke, but it wasn't
Every morning in the mansion before the clocks struck seven the mansion awakened in its own peculiar rhythm
The kitchen came alive first
Coffee beans were ground by hand
Pastries cooled on marble counters while chefs argued over recipes they'd perfected decades ago
The old grandfather like clock in the entrance hall chimed exactly seven times
Right on cue a voice echoed through the mansion
"Has anyone seen Young Master Noah?"
The question was asked every single morning
And every morning...
The answer was exactly the same
"No."
Mrs. Eleanor Finch, the seventy-two-year-old housekeeper who had served three generations of the Vespers marched down the corridor with all the determination of a military commander
She carried a silver breakfast tray balanced perfectly on one hand
"That boy," she muttered. "One day he'll sleep through an earthquake."
Two younger maids hurried after her trying to control their laughter
"He was reading until two in the morning again."
"He promised Master Victor he'd sleep earlier."
Mrs. Finch sighed
"And Master Victor promised he'd stop spoiling him."
She stopped before a pair of tall doors
She pushed the door open without knocking
The curtains were still drawn.
Books lay scattered across the floor.
A chessboard rested beside the window, frozen halfway through a game Noah had apparently been playing against himself.
Three notebooks covered in tiny, meticulous handwriting sat open on the desk
The bed...was empty
Mrs. Finch froze in surprise
The maids gasped in terror
"Young Master?"
No response from the other side
Mrs. Finch set the tray down.
"Not again..."
She marched to the balcony doors and threw them open searching every corner of the room
One of the maids looked over the railing
"There!"
Far below on the sprawling lawn a boy with dark, messy hair sat beneath the oldest oak tree on the estate
His back rested against the trunk
A thick leather-bound book lay open across his knees
Completely absorbed, he didn't notice the world around him
Mrs. Finch closed her eyes.
"Of course."
The morning breeze turned another page of his book before he could
He frowned in disbelief
"I wasn't finished."
As though the wind might apologize to him
It didn't of course
Instead....
A shadow fell across the page of the book
"You skipped breakfast again."
Noah looked up and
Standing over him was a tall man in a charcoal suit with sleeves rolled to his elbows
Victor Vesper
To the outside world, Victor was a businessman whose smile unsettled ministers and whose phone calls could topple billion-dollar corporations and was the sole person who built the empire of Vesper family
At home...
He was simply the man who always remembered exactly which books Noah wanted for his birthday.
Victor folded his arms
"So."
Noah blinked innocently.
"Ahem....So?"
"I've been informed," Victor said with exaggerated seriousness, "that a mysterious creature escaped from its bedroom again."
Noah glanced toward the mansion.
"Did it?"
"It also appears to have stolen breakfast."
"oh is that so?!"
Victor nodded gravely
"A very dangerous criminal."
A tiny smile tugged at Noah's lips
Victor noticed it immediately
And just like that his Mission of making his Dad less angry was accomplished.
Victor sat beside him beneath the oak without caring that his expensive trousers touched the grass.
For a while, neither of them spoke
Father and son watched the sea glitter beneath the morning sun
Finally Victor broke the silence saying
"What are you reading?"
"The Prince."
Victor raised an eyebrow
"You're just thirteen."
"I know."
"And what have you learned from the book?"
Noah closed the book thoughtfully and said,
"Most rulers fear betrayal from their loved ones."
Victor nodded.
"And?"
"But They should fear loneliness more."
For a long moment, Victor simply stared at his son
Then he smiled—not with pride, but with something quieter
A Hope that would continue his legacy
Somewhere beyond the estate gates, a black sedan rolled toward the mansion
Inside an impatient blond haired boy bounced in his seat for what felt like the hundredth time
"How much longer?"
His bodyguard sighed
"Five minutes."
"You said that ten minutes ago."
"Traffic."
"There isn't any traffic."
"There could have been."
The boy groaned dramatically
"I'm going to die of boredom before we get there."
The bodyguard smiled despite himself.
"No, Young Master."
"You'll survive."
The boy pressed his forehead to the window excitedly
Then, as the silver gates of Vesper House came into view....
A grin spread slowly across his whole face.
"Noah Vesper..."
He whispered to himself
"I'm back."
The charming young boy pressed both hands against the window
"They planted more..."
His bodyguard glanced outside
"They renovate the gardens every year."
"They didn't before."
"They do now."
The boy smiled to himself
Noah would probably complain
He always said flowers looked prettier when they grew however they wanted instead of in perfectly measured rows
The sedan stopped before the front entrance
Before the chauffeur could open the door...
The rear door flew open by itself.
A fourteen-year-old boy sprinted out.
"Young Master Lucien!"
The bodyguards immediately chased after him.
"Slow down!"
"No running!"
"Your father specifically warned—"
Lucien ignored every single word
BOOM!
The dining room doors slammed open so violently that every servant jumped
"NOAH!"
Several maids gasped
Mrs. Finch didn't even turn around
"Good morning, Young Master Lucien."
Lucien grinned sheepishly
"...Morning."
Noah calmly continued eating his breakfast without even looking up
Lucien stared
"...Seriously?"
"...You're not even going to greet me?"
No response
Lucien walked closer
"...Noah."
Still nothing
He leaned across the table down
"...Noah."
Lucien dropped himself into the chair beside Noah without invitation
He reached for a croissant
Mrs. Finch smacked his hand away with a wooden spoon
"Wash your hands."
"I touched the car."
"Exactly."
"They're clean."
Mrs. Finch stared
Lucien surrendered
"...Fine."
As he disappeared toward the washroom, Noah quietly slid his untouched croissant onto the Lucien's empty plate
Mrs. Finch pretended not to notice
Three months had passed since Lucien's last visit.
Noah had grown used to the silence.
His days followed the same rhythm.
Morning lessons.
Afternoon strategy sessions with his father.
Evenings in the library.
Late nights beneath the old oak tree with a book balanced on his knees.
But there was one thing he couldn't ignore.
His father smiled less.
Victor Vesper had always returned home before dinner, no matter how important the meeting.
Recently...
The dining table remained half-empty until long after the soup had gone cold
Far across the city Lucien sat in the back seat of his family's car
He looked down at the chess knight Noah had carved from oak for his birthday years ago
He turned it over in his hand face smiling
Unaware that somewhere in the shadows, someone had already decided that one day...
The betrayal was yet happen
But its first crack...Had already appeared
The attack came on the first night of winter, when the estate was wrapped in silence and the sea beyond the cliffs had disappeared beneath thick fog Without warning the lights across Vesper House failed, leaving the halls in darkness Within moments, the fire alarms echoed through the mansion Flames spread from one wing to another with terrifying speed trapping servants and guards as smoke swallowed the grand corridors that had once been filled with laughter.
Every Single newspaper declared that the entire Vesper family had perished in the fire The gates were sealed, the ruins abandoned, and the world mourned for only a few days before moving on No one knew that one heir had survived... or that, in the darkness beyond the cliffs, a wounded boy silently watched his home disappear in ashes, burying not only his family, but also the name Noah Vesper
SIX YEARS LATER
Tall Glass skyscrapers reflected the pale winter sun and the financial district buzzed with the confidence of people who believed money could solve every problem
They had never met 'Adrian Vale'
The black Rolls Royce stopped in front of Vale Capital International, the newest and already most feared investment company in the country
An assistant hurried to open the rear door
Polished leather shoes touched the pavement first
Then a tall man stepped out His expression revealed nothing but only quiet control
"Good morning, Mr. Vale."
He acknowledged them with a simple nod before walking to the top floor
To the world, he was Adrian Vale a billionaire investor whose companies never failed
Only a handful of people knew the truth
He was the Noah Vesper
His office overlooked the entire city
On his desk rested an old wooden chess knight the only thing he had kept from his past
A knock sounded
"Come in."
Elena Cross, his trusted assistant and one of the few survivors loyal to the Vespers entered carrying several folders
"Our investigation is complete," she said
She placed the files before him
"Lucien Ardent became CEO three years ago."
"The Ardent Group has expanded rapidly."
"He has no public scandals."
She paused for some time
"But...according to our surveillance,he hasn't smiled in years."
Noah silently opened the first file
Every page contained years of research financial records, security schedules, company structures, personal habits, and hidden weaknesses
He hadn't spent six years seeking revenge,
He had spent six years preparing for it
Noah walked to the window, looking down at the city that had buried his family
Without turning around,he spoke
"What's the first rule?"
Elena answered immediately.
"Never attack the king first."
"The second?"
"Take away everyone protecting him."
Noah nodded
"The Ardent family believes they won six years ago."
A faint smile appeared on his face
"So I'll let them keep believing it."
He closed the file bearing the Ardent name
"They won't lose everything in a single night."
"They'll lose it one piece at a time."
Outside, snow continued to fall
Across the city Lucien Ardent unknowingly signed the first document that would begin the slow destruction of his empire
The game had finally begun....
Morning sunlight reflected off the glass walls of Ardent Group Headquarters, the tallest building in the financial district
"The meeting may begin," he said
One executive stood and began presenting the company's latest investment proposal
"Our next acquisition requires an additional three billion dollars With this investment,we can dominate the overseas pharmaceutical market within-"
The conference room door opened
Lucien looked up
His secretary entered with a troubled expression.
"Sir... there's an urgent matter."
The room fell silent.
Lucien frowned.
"What is it?"
She placed a file before him
"Our target company..."
"...has already been purchased."
The directors exchanged confused glances
"What?"
"By whom?"
The secretary swallowed
"A company called Vale Capital International."
Lucien's brows furrowed
"I've heard of them."
"They've been buying struggling companies for the last three years," one director said. "No one knows where their money comes from."
Another director scoffed
"Probably another rich investor trying to make a name for himself."
Lucien remained silent
Something about the name unsettled him
That afternoon, Lucien ordered an investigation
"I want everything on Adrian Vale."
His chief of security nodded
"Yes, sir."
"I want to know where he came from, who he works with, and what he wants."
Three days later...
The report arrived
Lucien flipped through every page
Swiss citizen
Graduated from Oxford
Founder of Vale Capital
No criminal record
No scandals
No suspicious transactions
Everything was perfect
Lucien slowly closed the file
"No one has a life this clean."
His secretary looked surprised.
Lucien stared out the window.
"I don't know.....but it feels like I've heard his name before."
That evening...
Adrian stood alone in his office as snow drifted outside,
His phone buzzed once
A single message appeared on the screen
Lucien Ardent has begun investigating you
Adrian smiled faintly
"Right on time."
He picked up the old wooden chess knight from his desk
"The first move....is always the easiest."
He gently placed the knight onto the center of the chessboard
Outside two of the city's most powerful men had not yet met
Yet the game between them had already begun
And neither of them realized that every move from this point onward had been planned long before they ever sat across the same table
Luciens company started falling down in stocks because of the Vale Capital International company
Rivalry between both the companies grew one strike after another.....
Noah's plan doesn't involve killing Lucien.
Instead, he orchestrates the collapse of the Lucien's empire using information.
Over several weeks, Adrian anonymously leaks evidence of corruption committed by senior Ardent executives not crimes Lucien ordered, but crimes that had been hidden from him. Investors pull out trusted board members accuse one another of betrayal and Lucien's inner circle fractures
One day..
When Lucien finally confronts Adrian in a private conference room, Adrian closes the door and quietly says,
"Do you remember the Vesper estate?"
Lucien freezes
Adrian places an old wooden chess knight on the table
Lucien's face loses all color
"Noah..."
Adrian removes a black glove, revealing the burn scars across his hand that represented his fire
"I came back to make you watch your world burn the way mine did."
Lucien doesn't deny the past
He lowers his head
"If killing me will end this..."
Adrian interrupts him
"No."
"Death is too easy."
"You'll live."
Lucien quietly hands over every controlling share of Ardent Group and resigns as CEO
He doesn't fight which shocked adrian as in Noah more than anything as he was fully ready for a battle
Instead of fighting back Lucien simply says
"I've been punishing myself for six years."
That answer shakes Noah more than any weapon could
Before leaving, Lucien gives him a sealed file.
"If you truly want your revenge from the one who killed your family....read this."
Lucien left the room leaving a shaken up Noah behind who didn't know what to belive and what to not because he spent whole 6 years planning his revenge he can't just trust his enemy all of a sudden but the lingering feeling for lucien never left him...so he decided to give it a chance to give his love for Lucien another chance...
Noah Vesper now Adrien spent Six years of his life believing he knew exactly who had destroyed his family.Six years of building his revenge around one name
Lucien Ardent
Slowly he broke the wax seal
Inside were handwritten journals, old photographs, bank transfers, security reports and a small voice recorder
The handwriting on the first page belonged to Victor Vesper
Adrian's breath caught
It had been years since he had seen his father's writing
He began to read
The entries described a growing fear that someone was manipulating both the Vesper and Ardent families. Meetings were being sabotaged. Trusted allies were turning against each other. Messages arrived that neither family had actually sent
Victor had written only one name repeatedly.
Damien Ardent, father of Lucien and buisness partner of Victor Vesper
Adrian's heartbeat quickened
He played the voice recorder
Victor's calm voice filled the silent office
"If you're hearing this, then I've failed."
"Don't blame Lucien."
"He's being used just as much as we are."
The recording ended. For a long time, Adrian couldn't move. The man he had hated for six years..had never been the true enemy.
That evening, Adrian stood alone on the cliffs overlooking the ruins of Vesper House
Only fragments of the old stone walls remained
The great oak tree had survived though its trunk was blackened by fire
He rested a hand against its rough bark
Memories came flooding back of Lucien laughing as they raced across the gardens
Lady Beatrice scolding them for muddy shoes.
Victor reading beside the fireplace. His mother smiling as she played the piano
Every memory felt painfully alive
A Porsche approached from behind him
Adrian didn't turn
He already knew who it was by the footsteps
Lucien stepped out into the rain letting himself be wet without caring for anything
Neither of them spoke
The silence between them carried years of grief and misunderstanding caused by the situation filled between them
Finally Lucien broke the silence saying
"You listened to the recording."
Adrian nodded once without looking up
"You knew about this all."
Lucien closed his eyes in grief
"I suspected it and turns out I was right,But there was no way to prove it."
Before either man could continue, headlights appeared on the narrow road.A black sedan stopped at the entrance to the ruins. The rear door opened. An older man stepped out, holding an umbrella as though he were arriving at a business meeting rather than the scene of a massacre.
"Damien Ardent."
His silver hair was untouched by the rain.
His expensive suit remained perfectly pressed.
He smiled with pure evil intentions indicating that he has won
"So...looks like You finally discovered the truth."
Adrian's fists clenched at his sides in rage ready to attack the moment that damien says another word.
Lucien stared at his father as though looking at a stranger he didn't know the person in front of him
"You planned everything? EVERYTHING?!"
Damien sighed almost impatiently.
"I planned what had to be done."
"You murdered innocent people..why would you do that?," Lucien said, his voice shaking.
"They stood in my way too much so had to get rid of them."Damian replied in an uninterested voice
"You murdered Mother You murdered your own wife."
Damien's expression didn't change eyes filled with nothing but satisfaction
"She became inconvenient and was getting in my way."
Lucien staggered back a step. The words struck harder than any knife. It was hard for him to believe that his whole life was a lie.
Damien slowly walked across the ruined courtyard steps heavy and His shoes crunching over broken stone.
"I loved Evelyn(Noah's mother) long before Victor ever met her."
His gaze settled on the remains of the mansion
"But She dared choose him."
"I offered her power money everything she could ever wish for but She chose kindness."
"I offered her the world."
"She chose your father. She chose that bastard over me."
His smile faded into something cold something obsessive.
"If I couldn't have her......then neither could he or anyone else in this world."
Adrian felt years of pure anger threatening to consume him any moment
Every instinct screamed for revenge. He raised his gun pointing it directly at Damian
One bullet
One second
And It would all be over
But then he remembered Victor's voice
"Don't become the thing that destroyed us whatever may happen just don't ."
Slowly...
He lowered his gun
Damien laughed loudly thinking he has just won the game of chess
"You're too weak to do it."
Adrian finally spoke.
"No."
"I've simply prepared something better that you would never forget..ever"Adrien smirked knowing he was about to flip that gamem
At that exact moment, Damien's phone began ringing.
Then another
And another
His confident expression slowly disappeared into amidst air
He answered the first call
"What?"
Silence.
Then anger.
"THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE...WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT YOU-."
He ended the call
A second immediately followed
His bank accounts had been frozen
A third
All his private assets had been seized by the government
A fourth
His board of directors had resigned from the company saying it is a waste now
A fifth call was made
His political allies publicly denied knowing him and pushed him into the pit all alone.
Lucien quietly watched as everything unfold infront of him
"What have you done?" Damien whispered
Adrian looked at him calmly
"For six years, I collected every document you hid You think I was just fooling around all these years."
Adrien laughed "Damien.....Damien you are such a fool."
"For years I collected Every forged order,Every witness statement ,Every payment you made, Every recording you recorded ."
"I sent them to the police..."
"...the courts..."
"...the media..."
"...and your own allies."
Adrian stepped closer smirking and whispered
"You built your empire on secrets."
"I destroyed it with the sole truth you tried to bury."
Police vehicles surrounded the estate.
Military officials stepped through the ruined gates as they slowly approached Damien
He looked around desperately.
No bodyguards came.
No allies arrived.
No one answered his calls.
The empire that had once obeyed him had vanished in a single afternoon.
A Policeman came and ordered Damien," Put your hands behind your back."As the handcuffs closed around his wrists, Damien looked at Adrian.
"You think you've won?You think you're some hero!"
Adrian shook his head
"My family isn't coming back."
"No victory can change that truth."
He glanced toward the blackened remains of the mansion that was once his home
"But at least now you will never hurt another family again."
Damien was dragged away without another word.
The Vesper's family's Revenge was finally taken....
The rain finally began to ease.
Only Adrian and Lucien remained among the ruins.
For a long time, neither spoke.
Then Lucien slowly removed the Ardent family ring from his finger.
He looked at it one last time before placing it on a broken stone where the entrance hall had once stood.
"I spent six years believing I deserved your hatred," he said quietly.
"And maybe I still do deserve it."
Adrian looked toward the sea
"I don't know if I can forgive you as you're still that man's blood."
Lucien nodded understanding Adrien's reason
They stood together in silence as dawn slowly broke over the cliffs
