## Jumanji: The Forgotten Cartridge

### Chapter 1: The Detention and the Discovery

The rain was drumming heavily against the windows of Brantford High School. Inside the dimly lit, cluttered basement storage room, four students were serving weekend detention: Spencer, a neurotic gamer who lived in fear of everything; Fridge, a towering football star who cared only about his varsity status; Bethany, a self-absorbed social media influencer; and Martha, a cynical, socially awkward bookworm.

"This is ridiculous," Fridge grumbled, tossing a stack of old magazines onto a dusty shelf. "I’m supposed to be at practice, not sorting through ancient trash."

"Just keep working, Fridge. The faster we finish, the faster we leave," Martha muttered, not looking up from her task.

Meanwhile, Spencer was rummaging through a box of broken electronics near a defunct boiler. His hands brushed against something heavy, covered in a thick layer of cobwebs. He pulled it out, blowing the dust away to reveal a sleek, black video game console with the word **JUMANJI** embossed in faded gold lettering across the top.

"Hey, guys, look at this," Spencer called out, his curiosity piqued. "It looks like some ninety-style retro console. I’ve never seen a cartridge like this."

Bethany didn't look up from her reflection in a broken computer screen. "Does it have a camera? If not, I don't care."

Spencer plugged the ancient console into an old CRT monitor sitting on a workbench. To everyone's surprise, the television flickered to life with a low, menacing hum. The screen flashed with a vibrant image of a dense, pixelated jungle, accompanied by the distant, rhythmic thumping of tribal drums.

*Thump... thump... thump...*

"Do you hear that?" Martha asked, suddenly uneasy.

"It's just the game," Spencer said, staring at the character selection screen. "Look, we each have to pick an avatar."

Amused and bored, they chose their characters. Spencer picked the muscular archaeologist, **Dr. Smolder Bravestone**. Fridge chose the diminutive zoologist, **Franklin 'Mouse' Finbar**, purely because the name sounded cool. Martha picked the martial arts expert, **Ruby Roundhouse**, while Bethany, barely paying attention, selected the genius cartographer, **Professor Sheldon 'Shelly' Oberon**, assuming "Shelly" was a beautiful woman.

As soon as the fourth button was pressed, the console began to vibrate violently. The blue light from the screen intensified, filling the room.

"Uh, guys? Something's wrong!" Spencer yelled.

Suddenly, the console emitted a powerful green vortex. One by one, their bodies began to pixelate into digital dust, sucked directly into the glowing screen. Their screams were drowned out by the thunderous roar of the drums.

### Chapter 2: Welcome to the Jungle

*Thud!*

Spencer fell from the sky, landing face-first into a pile of wet leaves. He groaned, pushing himself up, but immediately gasped. His arms were massive. He looked down to see a tight khaki shirt stretching over an incredibly ripped chest. He had no glasses, and his voice was a deep, resonant baritone.

"What the... where am I?" he muttered. He accidentally caught his reflection in a nearby puddle. He was Dwayne Johnson.

*Splat!*

A tiny man dressed in a safari vest and a massive backpack dropped from the air next to him. It was Fridge, but he was now barely five feet tall.

"What did you do to me, Spencer?!" Fridge screamed, his voice two octaves higher than normal. "Why am I so small? Where are my knees?!"

Before Spencer could answer, a gorgeous woman in a leather outfit and combat boots executed a perfect mid-air flip, landing gracefully on her feet. It was Martha.

"Oh my god," Martha whispered, looking at her new, athletic physique. "I'm a walking action figure."

Finally, a heavy thud announced the arrival of the last member. A short, round, middle-aged man in a tweed jacket and a bowtie sat up in the mud. He patted his face, felt his thick beard, and let out a blood-curdling, high-pitched shriek.

"No! No! No! Where is my phone? And why am I an old, fat man?!" Bethany cried out in horror. "I'm an overweight middle-aged guy!"

"You're Professor Shelly Oberon," Spencer realized, his gamer brain finally connecting the dots. "Guys... we aren't in detention anymore. We are inside the Jumanji video game. And these are our avatars."

Suddenly, three black bars appeared on each of their wrists. They looked like glowing tattoos.

"What are these?" Martha asked.

"Those are our life bars," Spencer explained, his face turning serious. "We have three lives. If we lose all three... it's game over. For real."

### Chapter 3: The Quest Begins

A sudden rustling in the bushes cut their panic short. Out of the dense foliage emerged a vintage motorcycle driven by a man in a leather jacket. He stopped in front of them, his eyes glassy, speaking in a perfectly rehearsed, robotic tone.

"Welcome to Jumanji! I am Nigel, your NPC guide," the man announced. "The jungle is in great peril. The evil Professor Van Pelt has stolen the **Jaguar’s Eye**, a sacred jewel that controls the balance of this world. Darkness is spreading."

Nigel handed a wrinkled piece of parchment to Bethany. "You must use the map to navigate the levels, reach the Jaguar Statue, and return the jewel to its eye while shouting the name of the game: JUMANJI!"

"Wait, the map is blank!" Bethany complained.

"Only the cartographer can read it," Spencer noted.

Bethany looked at the map again. Suddenly, glowing lines and topographical terrain appeared to her eyes. "Oh! It says we need to go to the Bazaar to find the next clue."

"Excellent!" Nigel beamed. "Beware the wildlife, and good luck!" With that, he slammed on the gas and drove away, leaving them stranded in the middle of a hostile paradise.

### Chapter 4: The Strengths and Weaknesses

As they marched through the humid jungle, Spencer accidentally pressed his own chest. A glowing, holographic menu popped up in the air before him.

```
DR. SMOLDER BRAVESTONE
Strengths: Fearless, Climbing, Boomerang, Smoldering Intensity
Weaknesses: None
```

"Wow, I don't have any weaknesses," Spencer said, bewildered. Suddenly, his face shifted into a brooding, intensely handsome look.

"What are you doing with your face?" Fridge snapped.

"I don't know! It's my Smoldering Intensity, it just happens!" Spencer yelled.

Soon, everyone checked their stats. Martha (Ruby Roundhouse) was a master of Dance Fighting but was weak to venom. Bethany (Shelly Oberon) possessed vast knowledge of cartography and paleontology but lacked physical endurance.

Then came Fridge.

```
MOUSE FINBAR
Strengths: Zoology, Weapon Valet
Weaknesses: Cake, Speed, Strength
```

"Cake?!" Fridge yelled at the sky. "Cake is my weakness? How is cake a weakness? It makes me explode?!"

Before they could debate the fairness of the game, a terrifying roar echoed through the trees. A massive pack of albino rhinos burst through the treeline, their horns aimed directly at the teenagers.

"Run!" Spencer shouted.

They sprinted, but Fridge’s avatar was painfully slow. "I can't run! My legs are too short!" he screamed. One of the rhinos caught up to him, tossing him into the air. Fridge vanished into a cloud of red pixels.

"Fridge!" Bethany screamed.

A second later, a loud whistle echoed from the sky. Fridge fell right back down from the clouds, landing hard on the ground. One of his wrist tattoos had vanished. He had two lives left.

### Chapter 5: The Showdown at the Statue

After surviving a chaotic shootout at the local Bazaar and escaping Van Pelt’s motorcycle gang using Martha’s incredible dance-fighting skills, the group finally reached the final level: **The Jaguar Statue**.

The colossal stone structure loomed over the jungle, surrounded by a deep trench guarded by hundreds of vicious jaguars. At the very top of the statue was the empty eye socket where the green jewel needed to be placed. Spencer held the jewel, which was humming with dark energy.

"Van Pelt's men are coming from behind, and the jaguars are in front," Martha said, assessing the situation. "We need a plan."

"Fridge, you're the zoologist," Spencer said. "Can you distract the jaguars?"

Fridge puffed out his small chest. "Alright, listen up. I'm a professional. Jaguars are just big cats. They like shiny things and moving targets."

Using his backpack, Fridge pulled out a flares kit and threw them across the trench. The jaguars, distracted by the bright, burning lights, chased after them, clearing a path.

"Go, Spencer!" Bethany yelled.

Spencer sprinted toward the base of the statue, climbing the sheer rock face with superhuman agility. But Van Pelt himself appeared on a high ledge, leveling a rifle at Spencer.

"I can't hit him from here!" Spencer shouted, hanging onto the vine.

"Catch!" Fridge yelled, using his strength stat to hurl a heavy rock toward Spencer.

Spencer caught the rock, activated his Smoldering Intensity to aim perfectly, and threw it right into the barrel of Van Pelt's rifle, causing it to backfire. Van Pelt stumbled backward, falling into the fog below.

However, a stray jaguar leaped from the shadows, knocking the jewel out of Spencer's hand. The green gem fell into the middle of the jungle floor.

"I've got it!" Martha yelled. She dove into the clearing, dodging the snaps of the remaining predators. She grabbed the jewel, but she was cornered. Knowing she had lives to spare, she looked up at Spencer at the top of the statue.

"Catch, Spencer!" she yelled, throwing the jewel high into the air just as a jaguar pounced on her. She pixelated into dust.

Spencer leaped from the very top of the statue in slow motion. His massive hand caught the glowing green jewel mid-air. He landed perfectly on the jaguar's head, slammed the jewel into the stone eye socket, and yelled at the top of his lungs:

"**JUMANJI!**"

### Chapter 6: Game Over

A brilliant, blinding white light erupted from the statue, dissolving the jaguars, the jungle, and the dark clouds. The terrifying drums finally stopped, replaced by a peaceful, ambient melody.

Martha fell from the sky, landing next to them with two life bars intact.

Nigel drove up one last time, smiling warmly. "Thank you, heroes. You have saved Jumanji. It is time for you to go home." He extended his hand for a group shake.

As they touched his hand, their avatars began to dissolve into a gentle, golden mist.

With a gasp, Spencer woke up on the cold floor of the Brantford High School basement. He looked down at his hands—they were thin and ordinary again. He looked up to see Fridge, tall and intimidating; Martha, back in her oversized sweater; and Bethany, checking her face in her smartphone.

They stared at each other for a long moment, the silence broken only by the hum of the old school boiler. They had entered the room as strangers, but they left as a pack, bonded by a wild, impossible jungle adventure.

Spencer walked over to the ancient console, picked up a heavy metal hammer from the workbench, and smashed the cartridge into pieces. Jumanji was finished, and their real lives were just beginning.
