Chapter 1 – The Ice King
The towering Malhotra Group headquarters stood proudly in the heart of the city. Employees hurried through the grand entrance, careful not to be late.
Inside the building, one name was enough to make everyone nervous.
At just twenty-eight years old, he had built one of the biggest business empires in the country. Handsome, intelligent, and unbelievably wealthy, he was admired by the world—but feared by everyone who worked for him.
He never attended office parties.
He never forgave mistakes.
The employees secretly called him "The Ice King."
As Arjun walked through the lobby in his perfectly tailored black suit, every employee lowered their head.
employees
"Good morning, sir."
His expression remained cold as he entered the elevator and disappeared.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the city...
Maya Sharma rushed toward a bus stop, clutching a file of job applications.
"Oh no... I'm going to be late!" she cried, running as fast as she could.
Despite being late, she stopped to help an elderly woman carry her heavy grocery bags across the road.
old woman
"Thank you, dear,"
Maya Sharma(FL)
"It's okay, Grandma. Have a wonderful day!"
She finally reached the Malhotra Group building, slightly out of breath.
Maya Sharma(FL)
"This company is huge..." she whispered, staring up at the skyscraper.
While hurrying through the entrance with a cup of hot coffee in one hand and her file in the other, she accidentally bumped into someone.
The coffee spilled all over an expensive black suit.
The lobby fell completely silent.
Standing in front of her was the famous CEO...
His icy eyes stared at the coffee stains on his suit.
Everyone nearby froze in fear.
employees
One employee whispered, "She's finished..."
Another muttered, "No one has ever spilled anything on Mr. Malhotra."
Maya blinked, then nervously scratched the back of her head.
Maya Sharma(FL)
"Um... I think your suit wanted coffee more than you did."
Did she just joke with the CEO?
Arjun looked at her without saying a word.
For a few long seconds, they simply stared at each other.
Then Maya smiled apologetically.
Maya Sharma(FL)
"I'm really sorry. I'll pay for the cleaning."
Maya Sharma(FL)
Without waiting for his reply, she handed him a packet of tissues.
Maya Sharma(FL)
"Please don't stay angry for too long. It gives you wrinkles."
Maya Sharma(FL)
She gave him one last bright smile before hurrying toward the interview room.
The lobby remained silent.
Arjun Malhotra (ML)
Arjun glanced at the tissues in his hand.
No one had ever spoken to him like that.
For the first time in years...
Someone wasn't afraid of him.
Arjun Malhotra (ML)
That cheerful stranger stayed on his mind.

Chapter 2 – The New Employee
Arjun stood in the lobby for a few more seconds, still holding the packet of tissues Maya had handed him.
His assistant, Rahul, cautiously stepped forward.
Rahul (ML ASSISTANT)
"Sir... should I call security? That girl spilled coffee on you."
Arjun glanced at the tissues before handing them to Rahul.
Rahul blinked in surprise.
Arjun simply walked toward his private elevator, leaving everyone speechless.
Meanwhile, Maya reached the interview room, still embarrassed.
Maya Sharma(FL)
"I can't believe I spilled coffee on the CEO on my first day," she muttered. "Great job, Maya."
A few minutes later, her interview began.
Unlike the other candidates, Maya answered every question with confidence and honesty. She admitted she didn't know everything, but she was eager to learn and work hard.
The interview panel appreciated her sincerity.
By evening, Maya received an email.
Congratulations! You have been selected as a Management Trainee at Malhotra Group.
She covered her mouth in excitement.
Maya Sharma(FL)
"I got the job!"
That evening, she called her parents.
Maya Sharma(FL)
"Mom! Dad! I got the job!"
Her parents were overjoyed and blessed her.
The next morning, Maya arrived at the office early, wearing a simple pastel-colored kurti and carrying her favorite notebook.
She greeted everyone with a warm smile.
Maya Sharma(FL)
"Good morning!"
Some employees smiled back, while others whispered,
employees
"Isn't she the girl who spilled coffee on the CEO?"
employees
"I don't know how she's still working here."
Her teammate, Nisha, walked over.
Nisha (FL Teammate)
"Hi! I'm Nisha. Welcome."
Maya Sharma(FL)
"I'm Maya!"
Nisha (FL Teammate)
Nisha lowered her voice.
Nisha (FL Teammate)
"One piece of advice... never joke with Mr. Malhotra again."
Maya Sharma(FL)
"Why? Is he always that serious?"
Nisha (FL Teammate)
Nisha sighed.
Nisha (FL Teammate)
"He fired a manager last month for hiding an important report. He's strict, but he's fair. Just don't test his patience."
Maya Sharma(FL)
"I'll be careful."
Inside his glass-walled cabin, Arjun was reviewing reports.
His eyes briefly stopped on the list of newly hired employees.
One name caught his attention.
He remembered the cheerful girl from yesterday.
Before he could think further, Rahul entered.
Rahul (ML ASSISTANT)
"Sir, the new trainees are waiting for your welcome speech."
A few minutes later, all the trainees gathered in the conference hall.
The room instantly fell silent as Arjun walked in.
He stood at the front and spoke in his usual calm, cold voice.
Arjun Malhotra (ML)
"Welcome to Malhotra Group. Here, results matter more than excuses. Work hard, stay honest, and respect your responsibilities."
Everyone listened nervously.
She quietly noticed that one of his shirt buttons was missing after yesterday's coffee incident.
Without thinking, she whispered to Nisha,
Maya Sharma(FL)
"I think the Ice King needs a better tailor."
Nisha (FL Teammate)
Nisha's eyes widened in horror.
The silent room carried her whisper farther than she expected.
Arjun slowly turned his gaze toward Maya.
For a moment, everyone thought she was about to lose her job.
But instead of saying anything...
Arjun simply looked at her for a few seconds and continued his speech.
The trainees exchanged shocked glances.
The CEO had let Maya go without a single warning.
As Maya watched him leave, she couldn't understand why he seemed so lonely behind those cold eyes.
And Arjun, though he would never admit it, couldn't stop wondering...

Why did that girl's smile refuse to leave his mind?
Melting the ice around his heart --3
A week passed since Maya joined Malhotra Group.
Within days, she became everyone's favorite.
Every morning, she greeted the security guards with a smile.
Maya Sharma(FL)
"Good morning, Uncle!"
She brought homemade snacks for her teammates, helped new interns understand their work, and even encouraged employees who looked stressed.
Slowly, the once-silent office became a little brighter.
"Ever since Maya joined, this place doesn't feel so gloomy," one employee whispered.
Meanwhile, on the top floor...
Arjun watched everything from his glass cabin.
He noticed how people smiled more when Maya was around.
But he quickly pushed the thought away and returned to work.
One afternoon, Maya was carrying a stack of files when she noticed the office janitor struggling to clean up papers scattered across the hallway.
Without hesitation, she placed her files on a table and knelt down to help.
Maya Sharma(FL)
"It's okay, Uncle. We'll finish together."
Just then, Arjun walked past.
Several employees immediately stood straight.
Maya didn't even notice he was there until she finished helping the janitor.
She looked up and smiled.
Maya Sharma(FL)
"Good afternoon, sir."
Arjun gave a small nod and walked away.
The employees exchanged surprised glances.
"He actually acknowledged her..."
Later that day, Maya entered the cafeteria.
To her surprise, she saw Arjun sitting alone in a corner, quietly eating lunch while everyone else kept their distance.
Maya Sharma(FL)
"No one should eat alone every day," she thought.💭
Without overthinking, she picked up her tray and walked toward him.
Maya Sharma(FL)
"Sir... may I sit here?"
The entire cafeteria fell silent.
Arjun Malhotra (ML)
"This table isn't reserved."
Maya Sharma(FL)
"I'll take that as a yes."
For a few moments, neither of them spoke.
Then Maya noticed he was skipping his vegetables.
Maya Sharma(FL)
"You know," she said playfully, "vegetables aren't your enemies."
Arjun looked at her expressionlessly.
Arjun Malhotra (ML)
"They taste terrible."
Maya couldn't help laughing.
Maya Sharma(FL)
"So... even billionaires complain about vegetables?"
The corner of Arjun's lips lifted ever so slightly.
It disappeared almost immediately.
Maya Sharma(FL)
"So you can smile," she said with a grin.
Arjun cleared his throat and stood up.
Arjun Malhotra (ML)
"I have a meeting."
He left the cafeteria before she could say another word.
From a distance, Rahul had witnessed everything.
He rubbed his eyes in disbelief.
Rahul (ML ASSISTANT)
"Was that... a smile?"
Back in his cabin, Arjun sat at his desk.
He opened a file, but his mind wasn't on work.
Instead, he remembered Maya's words.
Maya Sharma(FL)
"So you can smile."
Without realizing it, he touched the corner of his lips.
It had been years since anyone had made him smile... even for a second.
Outside the cabin, Maya looked through the glass wall.
Maya Sharma(FL)
"The Ice King isn't made of ice after all," she whispered.
Neither of them knew it yet...
But the frozen walls around Arjun's heart had begun to crack.
