Prologue: The End of the Beginning

Throughout the last century, scientists searched for a new source of energy powerful and durable enough to sustain humanity for generations without harming the environment.

In the year 2035, their efforts succeeded.

Humanity discovered what would later become known as supranatural energy.

At the time, it was considered the greatest scientific achievement in human history. Unlike previous energy sources, supranatural energy produced enormous amounts of power without the environmental consequences that had plagued humanity for centuries. Initial estimates suggested that a single supply could sustain Earth's energy needs for the next five centuries.

The discovery changed the world forever.

The energy was officially classified as supranatural energy, but it was soon shortened by the public to the unofficial abbreviation SP.

SP became the symbol of a new era. It transformed industries, accelerated technological advancement, and made electricity more accessible than ever before. Nations that had once struggled with energy shortages entered a period of unprecedented growth.

For the first ten years following its discovery, humanity experienced what many historians would later describe as a golden age.

However, beneath its limitless potential existed a danger that humanity had yet to fully understand.

Supranatural energy was extraordinarily powerful, but it was also unstable. Strict precautions were required when handling it, and even its creators acknowledged the risks surrounding its use.

Yet humanity had always been driven by progress.

And progress, when pursued without understanding its limits, could carry a devastating price.

Despite its achievements, the era of SP was not without warnings.

From the beginning, scientists understood that supranatural energy was unlike anything humanity had ever controlled before. Its immense power came with an equally dangerous instability, requiring constant monitoring and strict safety measures.

For years, those precautions were enough.

But as humanity grew more dependent on SP, the pursuit of further advancements continued. Research expanded, experiments became more ambitious, and the limits of what was considered possible were pushed further than ever before.

The event was later on recorded as The great explosion.

For fifteen years, supranatural energy fueled humanity's greatest age of prosperity. Technology advanced at an unprecedented pace, nations flourished, and the future appeared brighter than ever before.

Then everything changed.

According to official historical records, the catastrophe began at the world's largest supranatural energy research and development facility, located in what was then known as America.

What was meant to be another routine experiment ended in disaster.

The resulting explosion obliterated the entire research complex, leaving behind a crater so immense that it would remain visible from space for centuries to come.

Yet the explosion itself was only the beginning.

A wave of unknown energy swept across the planet, passing silently through every living organism on Earth.

Then the deaths began.
