Raaz E Taqdeer

The first Letter

Episode 1: The First Letter

The melodious call to Fajr echoed through the quiet streets, gently waking Areeba from her sleep.

She opened her eyes, smiled softly, and whispered, "Alhamdulillah."

Every morning began the same way—with prayer, gratitude, and a few pages of the Qur'an. Before chasing her dreams, she always sought Allah's guidance.

Today, however, was different.

It was her first day at Al-Noor National University.

As she stood before the mirror adjusting her light beige hijab, her mother entered the room.

"You look beautiful, my daughter," she said warmly.

Areeba smiled.

"Pray for me, Mama."

"I always do."

After breakfast, her father handed her a small notebook wrapped in brown paper.

"What's this?" she asked.

"A gift."

She carefully opened it.

On the first page, written in her father's neat handwriting, were the words:

"Knowledge builds your future, but character builds your legacy."

Areeba's eyes filled with tears.

"I'll never disappoint you, Baba."

He gently placed his hand on her head.

"You don't have to be the best student in the university. Just be the best version of yourself."

Those words stayed in her heart as she left home.

The university campus was larger than she had imagined.

Students laughed, chatted, and hurried toward their classrooms.

Everything felt new.

Everything felt overwhelming.

After silently reciting Bismillah, she entered the English Department.

"Excuse me... is this seat taken?"

A cheerful girl wearing a sky-blue hijab looked up and smiled.

"Not at all. Please sit."

"I'm Eman."

"I'm Areeba."

Within minutes, they were talking like old friends.

"You seem nervous," Eman laughed.

"A little."

"Don't worry. Everyone is nervous on the first day."

Before Areeba could reply, another student entered the classroom.

He wore a simple white shirt, carried several books, and quietly greeted everyone.

"Assalamu Alaikum."

"Wa Alaikum Assalam," the class responded.

He sat in the front row without speaking to anyone.

"That's Zayan," Eman whispered.

"The top student in the department."

Areeba only nodded.

She lowered her gaze and focused on arranging her books.

The lecture passed quickly.

When classes ended, Eman insisted they visit the university library.

"You'll love it," she said excitedly.

The library was peaceful.

Sunlight streamed through tall windows, illuminating rows of old books.

Areeba wandered through the history section while Eman searched for novels.

As Areeba reached for a dusty book on the highest shelf, another old book suddenly slipped and fell to the floor.

A folded envelope slid out from between its pages.

Confused, she picked it up.

The paper was old and yellow with age.

Her heartbeat quickened.

Written across the front, in elegant handwriting, were four words.

"For Areeba Only."

She froze.

"How...?"

No one at the university even knew her name.

With trembling fingers, she opened the envelope.

Inside was a single handwritten letter.

If you are reading this, it means destiny has chosen you.

Do not trust everyone.

The truth about your family has been hidden for twenty years.

Someone is watching you.

There was no signature.

Only one mysterious letter.

H

Areeba felt the color drain from her face.

"What does this mean?"

Just then...

She sensed someone staring at her.

Slowly, she turned around.

At the far end of the library stood an elderly man dressed in white.

His eyes were fixed on her.

For a brief moment, their gazes met.

Then...

He disappeared behind the bookshelves.

"Areeba?"

Eman's voice echoed through the library.

"Are you coming?"

Areeba looked back.

The old man was gone.

Only silence remained.

She tightly held the mysterious letter against her chest.

Deep inside, she knew one thing.

Her first day at university had changed her life forever.

Episode 2: A New Beginning

Episode 2: A New Beginning

The mysterious letter remained hidden inside Areeba's notebook, but its words refused to leave her mind.

"Do not trust everyone..."

She read the sentence over and over until Eman's cheerful voice interrupted her thoughts.

"Areeba! You're walking so fast. Wait for me!"

Areeba smiled faintly.

"I'm sorry. I was just thinking."

"Thinking about classes already? Relax! It's only our first day."

Eman linked her arm with Areeba's, and the two girls walked across the beautiful university campus. Students filled every corner, laughing, taking photos, and introducing themselves to new classmates.

"I've never seen such a huge library," Areeba said.

Eman laughed.

"You'll spend half your university life there."

"I hope so."

"And the other half?"

"Studying."

Both girls burst into laughter.

"You really are different," Eman smiled.

"Is that a bad thing?"

"No... it's actually refreshing."

For the first time since finding the mysterious letter, Areeba felt her heart grow lighter.

Their next lecture was English Literature.

Professor Haris entered the classroom carrying several books.

"Good morning, everyone."

"Good morning, sir."

"I don't just teach literature," he said with a smile. "I teach you how stories reveal human nature."

His words caught Areeba's attention.

Throughout the lecture, one student answered almost every question with confidence.

It was Zayan.

He never tried to show off.

He simply answered politely and respectfully.

When another student struggled to explain Shakespeare's famous quote, Zayan quietly encouraged him instead of correcting him.

"That's a good point," he said. "Maybe we can also look at it from another perspective."

The professor smiled proudly.

"Excellent, Zayan."

Areeba noticed something unusual.

Despite being the brightest student in the class, he never sought attention.

After class, Eman suggested visiting the university café.

As they entered, every table was occupied except one.

To Areeba's surprise, Zayan was already sitting there, reading a book.

He looked up immediately.

"You can take the table," he said politely.

"No, it's okay," Eman replied. "We'll find another one."

"There isn't another one."

He stood up.

"I was leaving anyway."

Without waiting for thanks, he picked up his books and walked away.

Eman watched him leave.

"He's strange."

Areeba smiled.

"I think he's just quiet."

That evening, Areeba returned home.

After praying Maghrib, she opened her notebook again.

The old envelope was still there.

She carefully unfolded the letter.

Suddenly...

Something slipped out from inside.

A tiny piece of paper.

It hadn't been there before.

With trembling hands, she picked it up.

Only three words were written on it.

"Don't trust H."

Areeba stared at the message in disbelief.

"H..."

Was it the person who signed the letter?

Or someone else entirely?

Before she could think any further, her phone vibrated.

An unknown number.

A single message appeared on the screen.

"You were not supposed to find the second note."

Areeba's heartbeat stopped.

She looked around her room.

The window was slightly open.

Outside...

Someone was standing in the darkness.

Episode 3: The Shadow Outside

Episode 3: The Shadow Outside

Areeba's hands trembled as she pulled the curtain aside.

The street outside was empty.

There was no one.

She blinked twice, wondering if fear had played tricks on her eyes. Taking a deep breath, she locked the window and sat on her prayer mat.

"Ya Allah, if this is a test, guide me to the truth and protect me from every evil."

Her heart felt lighter after the dua.

The next morning, she arrived at the university earlier than usual. She couldn't stop thinking about the message.

"You were not supposed to find the second note."

Who knew she had opened the letter?

As she walked through the corridor, Eman rushed towards her.

"There you are! I've been calling you."

"My phone was on silent."

"You look tired. Didn't you sleep?"

Areeba forced a smile.

"I'm okay."

Eman wasn't convinced, but she didn't ask any more questions.

During the first lecture, Professor Haris announced a semester project.

"You'll work in pairs. I'll assign the partners."

The classroom buzzed with excitement.

"Areeba Khan..."

She looked up.

"...your partner will be Zayan Mirza."

For a moment, both of them were surprised.

After class, Zayan approached her with a respectful smile.

"Assalamu Alaikum."

"Wa Alaikum Assalam."

"I hope we can work well together."

"In Shaa Allah," Areeba replied.

Just then, a folded paper slipped from between the pages of her notebook and landed on the floor.

Before she could pick it up, Zayan reached for it.

His expression changed the moment he saw the old yellow paper.

He looked at Areeba, then quietly said,

"Where did you get this letter?"

Areeba's heartbeat quickened.

"You... know about it?"

Before Zayan could answer, someone called his name from the hallway.

He immediately handed the paper back.

"We shouldn't talk here," he whispered.

"Meet me in the old library after Zuhr."

Then he walked away.

Areeba stood frozen.

For the first time...

Someone else knew about the mysterious letter.

As the class ended, Areeba remained seated for a few moments. Her thoughts were racing. Why had Zayan reacted that way after seeing the letter? Did he know who had written it?

Eman gently tapped her shoulder.

"Come on! The cafeteria's samosas are famous. If we're late, they'll all be gone."

Areeba smiled despite the storm inside her heart.

"You really think about food all the time."

"And you think too much," Eman laughed. "That's why Allah sent me to be your friend."

The two girls walked across the green university lawn. Students were chatting under the trees, some preparing for presentations while others were busy taking photos. It was a normal university day for everyone...

Except for Areeba.

As they reached the cafeteria, Areeba noticed Zayan sitting alone in a corner with a notebook open in front of him. He wasn't eating. Instead, he seemed lost in thought.

For a brief moment, their eyes met.

Zayan immediately looked away and closed his notebook.

Areeba found it strange.

"Do you know him?" she asked Eman.

"Only what everyone knows," Eman replied. "He's one of the brightest students in the department. He's quiet, keeps to himself, and never gets involved in unnecessary conversations."

Areeba nodded but couldn't stop thinking about his words.

"We shouldn't talk here."

What was so dangerous about the letter?

Who was listening?

As Zuhr prayer time approached, the Adhan from the university mosque echoed across the campus. Students slowly made their way toward the prayer area.

Areeba felt a sense of peace wash over her.

Whatever mystery lay ahead, she reminded herself that no secret was greater than Allah's knowledge.

Clutching the letter safely inside her notebook, she took a deep breath.

In less than an hour, she would finally meet Zayan in the old library—and perhaps, for the first time, discover why her name had been written on a letter years before she had ever stepped into this university.
