There Romance

Episode 1 – The First Time I Saw Her

The first time I saw her, the whole world seemed to slow down.

The college campus was buzzing with students on the first day of the semester. Everyone was busy finding classrooms, greeting old friends, and rushing through the crowded corridors.

Except me.

I stood near the entrance with my backpack hanging from one shoulder, wondering if this year would be any different from the last.

Then she walked in.

She wasn't trying to get anyone's attention. She simply adjusted the strap of her bag, tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear, and smiled politely at a girl who asked for directions.

That smile...

It was simple, yet somehow impossible to ignore.

For a few seconds, I completely forgot where I was.

"Hey! Earth to Arjun!"

My best friend, Kiran, snapped his fingers in front of my face.

"What are you staring at?"

I blinked and pointed toward the girl who had already disappeared into the crowd.

"The girl in the white kurti."

Kiran looked around before laughing.

"Don't tell me you've fallen in love already."

"I don't know," I admitted with a grin. "But I want to know her."

He shook his head dramatically.

"Classes haven't even started, and you're already planning your love story."

Maybe he was right.

Maybe it was just admiration.

Or maybe it was something much bigger.

The rest of the morning, I couldn't stop looking for her.

Every corridor...

Every classroom...

Every corner of the campus.

Finally, during lunch break, I spotted her sitting beneath a large tree with a book in her hands. She wasn't talking to anyone. She looked peaceful, completely lost in the pages she was reading.

I wanted to walk up and introduce myself.

But my confidence disappeared the moment I took the first step.

"What if she ignores me?"

"What if she thinks I'm weird?"

I sighed and turned away.

Coward.

The next few days became strangely exciting.

I started noticing little things about her.

She always arrived five minutes early.

She loved sitting near the window during lectures.

She smiled whenever she saw children playing outside the campus gate.

She helped classmates without expecting anything in return.

The more I observed her, the more I admired her.

It wasn't just her beauty anymore.

It was the kindness hidden in the smallest things she did.

One evening, while leaving college, fate finally gave me a chance.

A strong breeze blew through the parking area.

A notebook slipped from her hands, and loose papers scattered across the ground.

Without thinking, I ran forward.

Together, we picked up the papers before they could fly away.

As I handed her the notebook, our eyes met for the very first time.

She smiled.

"Thank you."

Just two words.

Yet they stayed with me the entire night.

She walked away without asking my name.

But I already knew one thing.

No matter how long it took...

One day, I would make her smile because of me.

Episode 2 – A Reason to Stay

Ever since that day in the parking lot, I couldn't get her smile out of my mind.

It was just a simple "Thank you."

But for me, it meant everything.

The next morning, I reached college much earlier than usual. Kiran looked at me in disbelief as I waited near the entrance.

"Don't tell me you're here because of her."

I shrugged, trying to hide my smile.

"I just came early."

"Yeah, right."

A few minutes later, she walked through the gate wearing a light blue kurti, carrying the same black backpack. She greeted the security guard with a smile before heading toward the academic block.

"There she is," Kiran whispered.

Without thinking, I started walking in the same direction.

She was only a few steps ahead when a notebook slipped from my hands.

She turned around after hearing the sound.

"Your notebook," she said, picking it up before I could.

"Thanks... again."

She smiled politely and handed it to me.

"You're welcome."

Before I could introduce myself, one of her friends called her name.

"Aanya! Hurry, the class is starting!"

So her name was Aanya.

She waved at me once before rushing away.

"Aanya..." I repeated softly.

Kiran nudged my shoulder.

"Now you even know her name. Happy?"

I smiled.

"Very."

From that day on, I noticed her everywhere.

In the library.

In the canteen.

Walking through the garden during breaks.

Sometimes we crossed paths, and she'd give me a small smile. Nothing more.

She still didn't know my name.

But somehow, those little smiles made my day.

A week later, our class was assigned a group presentation.

The professor began reading out the names.

"Arjun..."

I stood up.

"...and Aanya."

For a second, I thought I had heard it wrong.

She looked at me with the same surprised expression.

"Looks like we're teammates," she said with a small smile.

"I guess we are."

It was the first real conversation we'd had.

After class, we sat together in the library to discuss the project.

"So... you're Arjun?" she asked.

"Yeah."

"I'm Aanya."

"I know."

She laughed.

"How?"

"You friend called your name the other day."

"Oh... that makes sense."

For the next hour, we talked about the project, our favorite subjects, and college life.

She laughed often.

And every time she did, it felt like the room became a little brighter.

When it was time to leave, she packed her books and stood up.

"See you tomorrow, partner."

"See you."

I watched her walk away with a smile I couldn't hide.

Maybe destiny wasn't doing everything for me.

But it was definitely giving me a chance.

And this time...

I wasn't going to waste it.....

Preview : Working on the project brings Arjun and Aanya closer than ever. For the first time, they spend hours talking, laughing, and discovering each other's worlds. But just when Arjun thinks he's making progress, someone from Aanya's past unexpectedly returns—leaving him wondering if he has already lost his chance.

Episode 3 – Getting Closer

The project had become my favorite excuse to spend time with Aanya.

Every afternoon after class, we met in the library. At first, we only discussed the presentation, but slowly our conversations began to wander beyond textbooks and notes.

"So, what's your favorite food?" I asked one day.

She looked up from her notebook and smiled.

"Chocolate cake."

"That's a dessert."

"It still counts."

I laughed. "Fine. I'll let you win."

"And yours?"

"Anything my mom cooks."

"That's a safe answer."

"It also happens to be the truth."

She giggled, and once again, I found myself smiling without even realizing it.

The more we talked, the more I discovered how different we were.

I loved noisy places, road trips, and trying new things.

She preferred quiet evenings, books, soft music, and rainy days.

Yet somehow, our differences never made conversations awkward.

Instead, they made them interesting.

One evening, while we were practicing our presentation, the lights in the library suddenly went out.

A collective groan echoed through the room.

"Power cut," someone muttered.

Aanya sighed.

"I guess we'll have to continue tomorrow."

As we walked outside, dark clouds gathered above the campus.

Within minutes, heavy rain began to pour.

Students rushed toward the parking area, trying to avoid getting soaked.

"We're stuck," Aanya said, standing under the corridor roof.

"I don't think the rain will stop anytime soon."

I looked at my backpack.

"I have an umbrella."

She raised an eyebrow.

"One umbrella?"

"Yes."

"And two people."

I scratched the back of my head.

"We'll have to share."

She laughed softly.

"I guess we don't have another choice."

We stepped into the rain together.

The umbrella was barely big enough for both of us.

Every now and then, our shoulders brushed against each other.

Neither of us said anything.

The silence wasn't uncomfortable.

It was peaceful.

Halfway to the gate, a speeding bike splashed muddy water across the road.

"Oh no!" Aanya looked down at her shoes.

"They're ruined."

Without thinking, I took out the small handkerchief from my pocket.

"Here."

She looked at it, then at me.

"You carry a handkerchief?"

"My mom insists."

She smiled.

"Then thank your mom for me."

For the first time, she didn't just smile politely.

She smiled warmly.

When we reached the bus stop, the rain had become lighter.

"My bus is here," she said.

She climbed the first step, then suddenly turned around.

"Arjun."

It was the first time she had called my name.

"Yes?"

"Thank you... for today."

Before I could answer, the bus doors closed.

I stood there watching it disappear down the road.

Kiran's voice suddenly came from behind me.

"Why are you smiling like an idiot?"

I laughed.

"Because today... she remembered my name."

As I walked home through the drizzle, I realized something.

I wasn't trying to make Aanya fall in love with me anymore.

I simply wanted to be someone who could make her smile, even on the rainiest days.

And maybe...

That was where every beautiful love story truly began.
