When the Sky Forgot My Name

The Night My Name Vanished

The rain had finally stopped, but the night still felt strangely silent.

Lyra stood alone on the balcony of her old house, watching thousands of stars shimmer across the dark sky. Since childhood, she had always believed the stars were alive. Every wish, every memory, every name... they all belonged to them.

People laughed whenever she said that.

But tonight was different.

The moon looked larger than ever before, and a cold wind carried a whisper she had never heard.

"Lyra..."

She turned around.

No one was there.

Her heartbeat grew faster.

Again...

"Lyra..."

This time the voice came from the sky.

She slowly looked up.

One star, brighter than all the others, suddenly began to fall.

It wasn't like a shooting star.

It was coming straight toward her.

Before she could move, a silver light surrounded the balcony. Everything became silent.

Even the sound of the wind disappeared.

The glowing star stopped only a few feet away from her.

Inside the light floated an ancient silver key engraved with strange symbols.

The moment Lyra touched it, a sharp pain shot through her hand.

A voice echoed inside her mind.

"The sky has forgotten your name."

"What...?"

Before she could understand those words, the entire world turned white.

When she opened her eyes again...

Her house was the same.

Her room was the same.

Everything looked normal.

Until her mother walked past her.

"Excuse me... who are you?"

Lyra froze.

"It's me... Lyra."

Her mother frowned.

"I'm sorry... I don't know anyone by that name."

Fear spread through her body.

She rushed outside.

Neighbors stared at her like she was a complete stranger.

Even her closest friend looked confused.

"I'm sorry... have we met before?"

Tears filled Lyra's eyes.

How could everyone forget her...

In just one night?

She looked up at the sky.

The brightest star had disappeared.

And somewhere in the darkness...

Someone was watching her.

The cold wind grew stronger.

Lyra wiped the tears from her eyes and clutched the silver key tightly in her hand. It felt warm, almost alive, as if it were waiting for her to make a choice.

She took a deep breath and walked through the empty streets. Everything looked familiar, yet nothing felt the same anymore. The little bakery she visited every morning, the old clock tower, the park where she had spent countless evenings... everyone walked past her without a second glance.

"Excuse me," Lyra whispered to an old shopkeeper. "Can you tell me where I live?"

The man smiled politely.

"I'm sorry, young lady. I don't think I've ever seen you before."

Her heart sank.

How could an entire city forget a single person overnight?

Suddenly, the silver key began to glow inside her pocket.

A faint trail of shimmering light appeared on the road ahead, leading toward the ancient clock tower in the center of the city.

Lyra hesitated for only a moment before following it.

The streets became quieter with every step.

When she reached the tower, the huge clock struck midnight.

Twelve echoes rang through the empty square.

Dong...

Dong...

Dong...

On the twelfth chime, time itself seemed to stop.

The birds froze in the sky.

The falling leaves remained suspended in the air.

Even the fountain beside the tower stopped flowing.

Only Lyra could still move.

A voice came from behind her.

"So... you can still hear the clock."

She turned around.

A boy stood beneath the moonlight, dressed in a long black coat. His silver eyes reflected the stars, yet something felt impossible about him.

He had no shadow.

For a few seconds, neither of them spoke.

Then the boy smiled very slightly.

"You're Lyra... aren't you?"

Lyra's eyes widened.

"You... know my name?"

"I remember everyone the sky forgets."

Before she could ask another question, the silver key in her hand burst into light, and the ancient clock tower slowly opened like a giant door.

Beyond it was not another street...

It was a sky filled with floating islands, glowing rivers of starlight, and a castle hanging among the clouds.

Lyra took one slow step forward.

She had no idea that crossing this doorway would change not only her life... but the fate of every forgotten soul.

The Boy Without a Shadow

Lyra couldn't take her eyes off the mysterious boy.

The glowing doorway behind him shimmered like liquid starlight, while thousands of tiny lights floated through the air.

"You... remember my name?" Lyra asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

The boy looked at her for a long moment before answering.

"I remember every person the sky chooses to forget."

His calm voice sent chills down her spine.

"What do you mean... the sky forgot me? Why did everyone suddenly act like I never existed?"

Instead of replying, he slowly turned toward the glowing doorway.

"If you want answers, you'll have to leave your old world behind."

Lyra tightened her grip on the silver key.

"What if I don't?"

The boy gave a faint smile.

"Then, before the next sunrise... you'll forget yourself too."

Her heart skipped a beat.

"Forget... myself?"

"Your memories. Your dreams. Even your own name."

A cold silence filled the air.

The silver key suddenly became warm in her hand.

Tiny silver symbols appeared on its surface, glowing brighter with every second.

The doorway began to close.

"We're running out of time," the boy said.

Lyra looked back at the city.

The streets where she had laughed as a child...

The house where her family lived...

The people she loved...

None of them remembered her anymore.

She took a deep breath.

Then, without looking back...

She stepped through the doorway.

A blinding silver light swallowed everything.

For a moment, she felt as if she were falling through the stars.

When the light faded, Lyra slowly opened her eyes.

She gasped.

She was standing on a floating island high above the clouds.

Huge waterfalls poured into the sky instead of falling downward.

Trees with glowing blue leaves swayed in the wind.

In the distance stood a magnificent castle made entirely of crystal, shining beneath a giant silver moon.

"This..." Lyra whispered.

"...can't be real."

The boy stood beside her.

"Welcome," he said quietly.

"To the Kingdom of Forgotten Names."

At that very moment...

A deep roar echoed across the sky.

Something enormous was flying toward them through the clouds.

Lyra looked up...

...and her face turned pale. The creature burst through the clouds with a deafening roar.

Its wings stretched across the night like pieces of the sky itself, each feather glowing with silver fire. Two brilliant blue eyes locked onto Lyra.

She instinctively stepped back.

"W-What is that?"

The mysterious boy remained calm.

"It found the key."

"The key?"

Before Lyra could ask another question, the creature swooped lower, creating a powerful gust of wind. The floating island trembled beneath their feet.

"Run!" the boy shouted.

They sprinted across an ancient stone bridge that connected the island to the crystal castle.

Behind them, the creature let out another roar.

Cracks spread across the bridge.

One...

Two...

Three...

With a thunderous crash, a section of the bridge collapsed into the endless clouds below.

Lyra jumped just in time, landing hard on the other side.

She looked back, breathing heavily.

The creature stopped in midair.

Instead of attacking...

It bowed its head.

A deep voice echoed inside Lyra's mind.

"The Keeper has returned..."

Lyra froze.

"I... don't understand."

The silver key in her hand suddenly floated into the air.

Lines of glowing light spread across its surface until it became a shining symbol unlike anything she had ever seen.

The boy's expression changed.

"No..."

His voice carried fear for the first time.

"It awakened far earlier than I expected."

A loud bell rang from inside the crystal castle.

Once...

Twice...

Then a third time.

The castle gates slowly opened on their own.

A soft silver light poured out, lighting the path ahead.

The boy looked at Lyra.

"If you walk through those gates... nothing in your life will ever be the same again."

Lyra stared at the glowing entrance.

Behind those gates waited the answers she had been searching for.

She took a slow breath...

...and stepped forward.

The gates closed behind her with a deep echo.

Far away, hidden in the shadows of the highest tower...

Someone smiled.

"She's finally here."The great doors sealed shut with a deep echo that rolled through the castle.

For a moment, complete silence filled the hall.

Lyra looked around in amazement. Crystal pillars stretched toward a ceiling that seemed to hold an entire night sky. Tiny stars drifted through the air like glowing snowflakes.

At the end of the hall stood a circular pedestal.

On it rested an old silver book.

As Lyra stepped closer, the book slowly opened by itself.

Its pages turned one after another until they stopped on a single blank page.

Then, glowing words appeared.

"The Keeper of the Forgotten Names has returned."

Lyra whispered, "Keeper... Is that me?"

Before anyone could answer, the page changed again.

This time, another message appeared.

"Trust your heart... but not every smile."

A cold shiver ran down her spine.

The mysterious boy read the words in silence. His expression grew serious.

"It has begun," he said quietly.

"What has begun?" Lyra asked.

Instead of answering, he pointed toward a tall crystal window.

Outside, the peaceful silver sky was changing.

Dark clouds gathered above the floating islands.

One by one...

The stars began to disappear.

A loud horn echoed across the kingdom.

The castle trembled.

Footsteps rushed through the corridors.

A royal guard burst into the hall.

"The Shadow Gate has opened!" he shouted. "Someone has crossed into our world!"

The boy looked at Lyra.

"They found us."

Far away, hidden inside the darkness beyond the clouds, two glowing crimson eyes slowly opened.

A voice whispered...

"Bring me the girl... before she remembers who she truly is."

Lyra tightened her grip on the silver key.

For the first time...

She realized that losing her name was only the beginning.

End of Chapter 2

The Shadow Gate Opens

A deafening alarm echoed through the Crystal Castle.

Guards rushed across the shining halls, their silver armor reflecting the crimson light pouring in from the sky.

Lyra stood frozen.

"The Shadow Gate..." she whispered.

The mysterious boy stepped in front of her.

"Stay behind me."

Before Lyra could ask another question, a violent tremor shook the castle.

Dust drifted from the ceiling.

Then...

BOOM!

One of the enormous crystal windows shattered.

A cold black mist poured into the hall.

Inside the darkness, dozens of glowing red eyes slowly opened.

The guards raised their swords.

"Protect the Keeper!"

Lyra's heart raced.

"Keeper...? They're talking about me?"

The boy didn't answer.

Instead, he placed his hand on the silver key.

The key burst into brilliant light, forcing the shadows to retreat for a moment.

But from deep inside the black mist...

A calm, terrifying voice echoed through the hall.

"She has returned... and this time, she will not escape."

Every guard in the room fell silent.

The boy's face turned pale.

"He found you."

Lyra tightened her grip on the glowing key.

She had entered this strange kingdom searching for her forgotten name.

Instead...

She had awakened an enemy who had been waiting for her for centuries. The hall fell silent.

The silver key in Lyra's hand pulsed with light.

One by one, the shadow creatures lowered their heads.

The captain of the royal guards stared in disbelief.

"No one has ever commanded the shadows..." he whispered.

Kael stepped closer to Lyra.

"Listen carefully. From this moment, every choice you make will decide the fate of both worlds."

Before Lyra could answer, a crack of silver lightning split the sky above the castle.

An ancient voice echoed through the kingdom.

"The First Star Key has awakened."

A glowing map appeared in the air, revealing three distant locations.

Kael looked at the map, then at Lyra.

"Our journey begins tonight."

Lyra took a deep breath and nodded.

She had entered the Kingdom of Forgotten Names searching for her own identity.

Now...

She was about to uncover a secret that had been hidden for centuries.Lyra slowly reached out and touched the glowing map.

The moment her fingertips brushed against its surface, the map trembled. Three ancient symbols appeared, each marking a different corner of the kingdom.

Suddenly, one of the symbols burst into a brilliant golden light.

The entire hall was illuminated as the light stretched across the map like a shining path.

Kael stared at it in silence before speaking in a low voice.

"The First Star Key has chosen you."

Lyra looked at him in confusion.

"Chosen me? Why?"

Before Kael could answer, the enormous doors of the throne hall slowly opened.

A graceful woman dressed in a flowing silver gown stepped inside. A crystal crown rested upon her head, and every guard immediately bowed.

"The Queen..." Kael whispered.

The Queen walked toward Lyra, her expression calm yet filled with concern.

"The First Star Key lies deep within the Whispering Forest," she said. "For centuries, brave warriors have searched for it."

She paused.

"But no one who entered that forest has ever returned."

A heavy silence filled the hall.

Lyra looked directly into the Queen's eyes.

"Then why should I go?"

The Queen smiled sadly.

"Because only the Keeper can survive its whispers."

No one spoke another word.

Moments later, Lyra and Kael left the Crystal Castle and followed the glowing path shown by the map.

Far away...

Hidden behind the ancient trees, a girl wearing a black mask watched them in silence.

A mysterious smile appeared on her face.

"She finally found the map..."

Her eyes gleamed beneath the mask.

"...just as I planned."

Without making a sound, she disappeared into the shadows.

As evening fell, Lyra and Kael arrived at the entrance of the Whispering Forest.

The trees stood impossibly tall, their silver leaves moving even though there was no wind.

Lyra took a deep breath.

"This place feels... alive."

Kael nodded.

"It is."

Gathering her courage, Lyra stepped across the forest's ancient stone boundary.

The ground suddenly trembled.

Cracks spread across the earth.

A deafening rumble echoed through the forest.

In front of them, an enormous stone statue slowly began to move.

Dust fell from its ancient body as its glowing blue eyes opened.

The giant lowered its head and fixed its gaze on Lyra.

Then, in a voice that shook the entire forest, it spoke a single word...

"Keeper."
