...✨ Welcome, dear readers! ✨...
...Every story has a beginning, but this one was born in the most unexpected way....
...It all started as a simple Instagram reel—a fun little challenge filled with random prompts, spontaneous choices, and a spark of imagination. I never imagined that a few fleeting ideas would slowly weave themselves into an entire world. Yet, the more I thought about those characters, the louder their voices became. They refused to stay inside my mind, and before I knew it, they had created a story that demanded to be told....
...What began as a lighthearted experiment soon transformed into an epic fantasy filled with dragons, ancient prophecies, forgotten kingdoms, dangerous secrets, and a love powerful enough to challenge destiny itself....
...In this world, legends are more than stories whispered around campfires. They are memories carved into the earth, waiting for someone brave enough to uncover them. Magic still lingers in the wind, dragons have not vanished from history, and the gods are far from silent. Every forest hides mysteries, every kingdom guards its own secrets, and every choice carries consequences that echo far beyond the present....
...At the heart of this story is a young maiden who has spent her entire life believing her future has already been decided. Bound by a prophecy older than memory itself, she is expected to sacrifice everything for a destiny she never chose....
...Then there is the Dragon Lord....
...Powerful. Feared. Mysterious....
...A ruler who walks among humans while hiding his true nature behind calm eyes and an unreadable smile. His past is filled with burdens, his future already written by fate—or so he believes. The last thing he expects is for one ordinary meeting to change everything he thought he knew about duty, destiny, and love....
...When their paths cross, the impossible begins....
...Some bonds cannot be broken....
...Some promises cannot be ignored....
...And some hearts refuse to obey even the will of the gods....
...As darkness awakens and long-forgotten enemies rise from the shadows, they must decide whether to surrender to the fate written for them... or fight for a future no prophecy ever dared to imagine....
...This is not just a story about romance....
...It is a story about courage in the face of impossible odds, about finding hope in the darkest moments, about friendship, sacrifice, loyalty, and the strength it takes to choose your own path when the entire world tells you otherwise....
...There will be moments that make you smile, scenes that leave your heart racing, mysteries that slowly unfold, and twists that may change everything you thought you understood. Some characters will become your favorites. Others may test your patience. But each one has a role to play in this journey....
...Thank you for choosing to spend your time with my story. Whether you discovered it by chance or decided to give it a try out of curiosity, I'm truly grateful to have you here....
...If you enjoy the story, please consider supporting it by liking the chapters, leaving your thoughts in the comments, voting, and sharing it with fellow fantasy lovers. Your encouragement inspires me to keep writing and bringing this world to life....
...So take a deep breath, step into the enchanted forest, listen to the whispers of dragons, and let yourself be carried into a world where destiny is challenged, love is forbidden, and every page holds a new adventure....
...I hope this journey stays with you long after you've turned the final page....
...With love,...

The forest was older than kingdoms, older than the prayers whispered into its silence. They called it The Endless Night because the sun had abandoned it centuries ago. Here, stars clung to the sky like broken promises, and shadows learned to breathe.
It was into this darkness that they sent me.
The priests' hands were cold when they tied the silver-threaded gown around my body. I had never worn anything so heavy, though it weighed less in silk than it did in meaning. The gown marked me-the maiden promised to the gods. My heart hammered beneath it, but I kept my head high, because trembling was not allowed.
"The gods demand sacrifice," the High Priest whispered against my ear. His voice was a hiss, a serpent coiled tight. "You are chosen. You are a weapon and offering. Do not falter."
I wanted to ask, And if I do? But my tongue had dried, shriveled into silence.
I was led past the villagers, their faces a blur of awe and pity. No one reached out to stop me. No one dared. They had been raised on the same story since birth: one day, the Dragon Lord would rise again, and only the maiden chosen by the gods could end him.
That maiden was me.
The forest greeted me like a predator. The moment I crossed its threshold, the chants of the priests faded, swallowed by the hush of leaves and the rustle of unseen creatures. My sandals scraped against roots twisted like bones. A shiver clawed down my spine, and I clutched the dagger hidden beneath the folds of my gown.
The gods had not sent me empty-handed.
This blade was blessed, they said. Sharp enough to pierce the heart of the dragon when he came in his human form.
I was supposed to kill him.
I was supposed to save them all.
So why did my hands tremble as though I were the one hunted?
A sound broke the silence-low, steady, like thunder rolling in the distance. My heart stuttered. It wasn't thunder. It was breath. Heavy. Inhuman. Too close.
The shadows moved.
And he stepped forward.
Tall. Broad. His presence swallowed the clearing whole. His hair was black at midnight, his eyes a furnace of molten gold. He looked every bit the legend whispered about by firelight: the Dragon Lord in human form.
My lips parted in a shaky breath. "You..."
His gaze pinned me. Not cruel. Not soft. Simply... knowing. As though he had been waiting for this moment for centuries.
The dagger dug into my palm. I should have raised it. I should have struck first. But my body refused.
"You're him," I forced out, the words tasted like ash. "The dragon."
His lips curved faintly. Not in mockery. Something else. Something dangerously close to wonder.
"I am," he said, his voice deep, rough, as though shaped by fire itself.
The forest seemed to hold its breath.
"You were supposed to fear me," he murmured, each word slow, deliberate. Then, to my disbelief, the Dragon Lord lowered himself onto one knee before me. His eyes never left mine. His voice dropped to something almost reverent.
"...yet I'm the one who kneels before you."
The dagger slipped from my fingers. It hit the forest floor with a soft thud, forgotten, though my entire life had been trained for this moment. I couldn't breathe. Couldn't think. Couldn't reconcile prophecy with reality.
What kind of monster knelt to his executioner?
What kind of beast bowed to his prey?
The Dragon Lord's lips parted as though to speak again, but before he could, a gust of wind tore through the trees, scattering leaves into the night air. His head snapped up, fire flickering behind his eyes, and he rose to his full height in a single, fluid motion.
"You should not linger here," he said sharply, his voice no longer reverent but commanding. "The gods are watching."
Then he vanished. Just like that. One heartbeat he was before me, the next the forest swallowed him whole.
And I was left alone, trembling in the darkness, with the echo of his words burning through my soul.
...You were supposed to fear me... yet I'm the one who kneels before you....
The forest was silent after he vanished, but the echo of his voice clung to me like smoke.
"You were supposed to fear me... yet I'm the one who kneels before you."
I pressed my palm to my chest, half-expecting to feel fire burning beneath my skin. My heart thundered so violently it hurt, as if it was trying to tear its way free.
I should have run.
I should have fled back to the priests, to the safety of prayers and temple walls.
But the thought of leaving this forest... of leaving him... left me frozen.
The dagger lay at my feet. I bent down, fingers trembling, and retrieved it. Its silver blade gleamed faintly under the frozen stars, a cruel reminder of why I was here. This weapon was meant to end him. And yet when I'd had the chance... when he was kneeling, defenseless... I couldn't do it.
Why?
My body refused to obey my destiny, and I hated it.
Shaking, I searched for a place to rest. My gown snagged on roots, my hair clung to my damp face, and my limbs ached from carrying the weight of fate. I found a hollow beneath an ancient tree, its trunk split wide like a mouth. The shadows were heavy here, but at least they hid me.
I curled up, the dagger clutched to my chest, but sleep was cruel.
Every time I closed my eyes, I saw him. The golden glow of his eyes. The way his voice had dropped, almost reverent, as if he had known me before I ever stepped foot into this cursed night. And worse-the way my heart had stuttered, not from fear, but from something dangerously close to... recognition.
I shook the thought away.
He was the monster. I was the sacrifice. That was all.
A crack.
My eyes snapped open. My grip tightened on the dagger. The sound had come from beyond the tree hollow-branches snapping, leaves shifting. My breath caught. I held still, every sense sharp.
He was here.
I didn't see him, not at first. But I felt him. The air thickened, grew heavy with heat. My skin prickled, as if flames licked just beyond reach.
"Show yourself," I whispered, though my voice betrayed the quiver of my nerves.
For a moment, silence answered. Then, from the darkness, his voice-low, calm, almost amused.
"If I wished to harm you, maiden, you would not wake to demand it."
I jolted upright, twisting toward the sound. His voice came from everywhere and nowhere, reverberating through the forest.
"Then why are you hiding?" I shot back, forcing strength into words I didn't feel.
"Because," he said, stepping out from the trees at last, his golden eyes catching the starlight like fire. "I wanted to see what you would do. Whether you would run. Whether you would strike. Or whether you would wait for me."
He was closer now, though I hadn't seen him move. One breath ago, he'd been in the shadows. Now he stood a few paces away, tall and unyielding.
My heart hammered as I raised the dagger. "Stay where you are."
He tilted his head, a faint curve on his lips. "Do you truly believe you can kill me?"
The question wasn't mocking. It was... curious. As though he honestly wanted to know.
"I have to." My voice cracked. "It's what I was sent here for."
His gaze softened, a flicker of something I didn't understand crossing his face. Sadness, maybe. Or pity.
"They told you that, did they?" His tone darkened. "The gods? The priests?"
"Yes," I whispered. "And they don't lie."
His laugh was quiet but bitter, shaking the air like embers stirred from ash. He stepped closer, ignoring the dagger pointed at his chest. My hand trembled, but I didn't lower it.
"Little maiden," he said softly, "the gods lie most of all."
I sucked in a sharp breath, staring at him, but he didn't explain. Instead, he leaned forward just enough that I could feel the heat radiating from his body, his voice dropping to a near-whisper.
"Do you want to know why I knelt before you?"
My throat tightened. "Yes."
"Then survive this night," he murmured. "And I will tell you."
Before I could respond, he melted back into the shadows. One moment he was there, fire in his eyes. The next, gone.
But even in his absence, the forest was not silent.
Because I knew now-
the Dragon Lord was watching me.
