Escapism
TYB: "I've got my eye on you"
Hello, everyone. As you know from the title description itself, this book is a collection of series containing many genres, many tropes.
Before every story, I'd add a synopsis just to let you know what the story is all about.
In case of any trigger warning or mentions of substance abuse in a chapter, you'll be informed before hand.
𝙎𝙮𝙣𝙤𝙥𝙨𝙞𝙨: Taehyung is in love with Jungkook, who's the boyfriend of his own, elder brother Namjoon. When he's put together with Jungkook for a half-time performance in the finale basketball tournament, Taehyung finds out the dark sides of the Jungkook's toxic relationship and Jungkook slowly discovers more about the brother he never paid attention to.
The court was packed with audience–spectators–moving their heads to the tap of the ball, that bounced against the smooth floor, by the force of the cluster of palms rounding around them...
As the time began to draw near the end, and the scoreboard stayed stuck on the 1-1 numbers, the necessity for both teams to score one more, increased and the match got intense.
Players bumping against each other, grunting, jumping and failing to snatch the ball in their grasp–until one of them finally grabs the ball, nearing the net, and tossed the ball towards the net...
The ball circled around the loop for a while or so–as everyone watched with their breaths on hold–until finally...
The crowd roared in cheers, applause coming from every direction as the winning team gathered around to hug each other tight.
The winning team surrounded the man of the match–the player that scored the last point, after almost half an hour of circling around with no results...
Granted, it was a tough match since the opposing team was so good at keeping their own defense but somehow–the captain had decided to take the lead and score the point.
Amidst the crowd of the players that gathered around him, hugging him tight, cheered for him, and patted his back–the pair of eyes spotted a guy standing there on the other side and his hand rose to wave...
Kim Taehyung
Yah! Yoongi!! (waved his hand and walks towards him, as the crowd steers away)
The man with the face and attitude of a Persian cat, stood there with his arms crossed–since, cats don't really like human touch.
Min Yoongi
Why are you coming near me? (asks, cocking a brow)
This is Yoongi. He likes his personal space. Well...he likes it very much.
Kim Taehyung
What do you mean–you aren't celebrating! I'm just making sure you're not too grumpy because we won the fcking semi's! (approaches him)
And this is Taehyung. He also likes Yoongi's personal space. Very... Very much.
Yoongi's face filled with dread when he realized what Taehyung was doing–and he slowly took a step back, but Taehyung had already stridden towards him.
By the time everyone knew, Yoongi was on the floor, slammed by the sheer force with which Taehyung hugged him.
Min Yoongi
(cried, whining) Yaah! Get off of me!! Why tf are you making such a big deal about it??
Kim Taehyung
'Cause it was the damn semi's! Why aren't you making such a big deal about it? (leeched on him)
Yoongi whined and cried even more, until the coach walked over to them and got Taehyung off of the guy.
The coach turned to look at Taehyung, his hand on his shoulder with a big smile on his face as he patted him, admirably.
Jung Hoseok
I applaud your reflexes, Taehyung. The last point was really hard to score, but you still managed to do it. (smiled)
Kim Taehyung
(grinned) Thanks, Coach.
Taehyung was surrounded by the players once again, who continued cheering for their captain. The boy turned to thank some of the crucial players for the tactical assists...
However, if anyone would've noticed closely, they'd have seen the wandering eyes, scanning the entire court over to the cheerleading team on the other side–
Min Yoongi
Stop staring at the cheerleading team, they're not even performing anymore. (whispered to Taehyung)
Kim Taehyung
(looked over at Yoongi) Well. I should be asking you that. Why aren't you looking over at the cheerleading team? Aren't you a bit worried about your little boyfie?
Min Yoongi
(huffs) Chim is very mature. He doesn't get whiney if I don't stare at him for 20 seco–
"MIN FCKING YOONGI!!"
The shout came from the other side of the crowd, and everyone turned around to see the long, blonde-haired baddie, with the pretty, angelic face storming over to the said-man, with his menacingly (cute) glare.
Yoongi visibly flinched and took a step back, raising his hands up in surrender.
Park Jimin
How dare you not look at me while I was performing?! Do you not care the least about my efforts! (grabbed his collar, pulling him)
Min Yoongi
I–I didn't–I actually did, baby! H-How could anyone even take their eyes off of y–
Park Jimin
LIAR! You didn't even look ONCE! (clenched his fingers around the collar more)
Min Yoongi
I–I can explain, baby! I'm so sorry, I was just celebrating because we won–
Park Jimin
...Oh, yeah...we won. (paused, his grip loosening before he squealed jumping up and hugged him tight)
Park Jimin
We won, we won, we wonn!! Baby, we won! I'm sooo proud of you, you did it, my baby!! (hugged him tight)
Min Yoongi
(pressed his lips into a thin line, before hugging the bundle of joy back) Thanks, baby. All thanks to you. Your pretty face encouraged me soo much...
Park Jimin
(pulled back looking at him) It did??
Min Yoongi
(nods) Nothing motivates me to get shït done, more than you.
Jung Hoseok
Alright, guys. You can't make out right here. Jimin, I know you love your boyfie very much but that cat needs to get a bath because he stinks like rotten rat.
Jung Hoseok
Yoongi, grab a shower. Jimin, get some rest, fresh up yourself.
Jung Hoseok
Everyone. We'll stay over for a small celebratory feast. (announces before leaving)
The couple looked at each other before excusing themselves to find a private spot for themselves.
Taehyung sighed, watching them before his eyes went over to the specific corner, only to find it empty. He looked at the empty space for a while, like someone would magically appear there before giving up and going back to the shower room stalls...
He hadn't expected it, but it was a pleasant surprise to find the presence of the cheerleading team captain, at the celebratory feast that took place inside a restaurant–a gift from the coach, himself.
Min Yoongi
C'mon, brother. Can you stop making it so damn obvious? People are going to notice...(smacked his arm)
Kim Taehyung
Tsk. I don't care. Let them notice. (doesn't bat his gaze)
Min Yoongi
Well, I think he does.
Min Yoongi
(sighs) Why are you doing this to yourself, Tae? He's got a boyfriend. Let it go.
Min Yoongi
And quick reminder: that boyfriend is none other than your elder brother.
Taehyung clenched his jaw at Yoongi's words before finally hanging his head low...
That was right. His brother–Kim Namjoon, the star kid of the academic club, the professors' favorite and much to his own grudge, his elder brother.
Except he was a shïtty boyfriend. At least that's what he'd like to believe.
Taehyung was snapped out of his thoughts, with a hand on his shoulder and he turned around to see Hoseok standing there...
Jung Hoseok
Can I borrow you, for a moment, Captain?
Kim Taehyung
(nods) Sure, Coach!
Taehyung got off from his table and walked out with Hoseok as they both stood side-by-side. He turned to face his coach...
Kim Taehyung
Is there something you needed me to do, Coach? (asked, with concern)
His coach–Jung Hoseok–had been there for the past twelve years, ever since he was a senior, himself.
Taehyung had played under his guidance for seven months of it, and he had developed a sheer amount off admiration and respect for both the game and the coach, himself.
When he had first joined the club, Hoseok had almost asked him to leave because he had been late and Taehyung didn't find it as a big problem, since he'd always been good at basketball. That arrogance was quickly shook off of him...
At first, he'd despised the guy but then he grew to like him so much–the Doc Hudson to his Lightning McQueen.
Jung Hoseok
It's nothing big. Just wait for a second...
Taehyung looked at him queerly, but nodded anyway.
Until the door of the exit opened and someone walked out, joining them. Only: that was the least expected face that Taehyung had even thought to show up.
Jeon Jungkook
You asked for me, Mr. Jung? (walks over to them)

Are you ready for some crazy one-sided love story?

Jeon Jungkook
You asked for me, Mr. Jung? (walks over to them)
Jung Hoseok
Ah, yes, Jeongguk-ah...
Jung Hoseok
I called you both here for a simple task that you'd need to do, together.
Jeongguk cocked his brow, tilting his head, his hands still tucked in the space of his pockets–as the chilly wind breezed past him, dancing with the locks of hair falling on his beautiful face.
He didn't look offended or mad–just confused.
Jung Hoseok
I would've told you both about this tomorrow, but I wanted both teams to take a good, proper rest since I know today's been more than intense for both of your teams...
Hoseok looked over at Jeongguk expectedly who nodded in confirmation, looking down thoughtfully.
The cheerleading team had always been underestimated for their importance but only the players on the field knew how much the constant cheers of the team mattered, when the audience would go all quiet on then...
They didn't just create the motivation; they carried it. All throughout the match from the beginning to the end. And thankfully, no one in the team dared to question that importance.
One of the prime reasons why the captain himself agreed to take a day off was not only the intense show today–but the days of practice before the day of the game had already taken a toll on students.
Jeongguk reminded himself of the pile of assignments, he, himself had left on his desk: some incomplete, some just not turned in.
Jung Hoseok
The authorities and the audience demand something new–because y'know, money. (sighs)
Jung Hoseok
So, this year–they've demanded a collaborative performance from the sheer squad and the basketball team for half-time.
To say, he was taken aback would be an understatement. Jeongguk frowned for a second because he couldn't understand the thing...or the statement or whatever the basketball team coach had just spoken.
Hoseok recognized that expression but continued nevertheless.
Jung Hoseok
Four players would be required for the performance and the captains would be leading the routine...so, that's you both.
Kim Taehyung
But–I–I don't know how to dance and... God, Coach, we've got a damn game to play! We need to preserve our energy...
Jung Hoseok
(rolled his eyes) Taehyung. In tournaments, no one expects you to show up right after your half-time performance.
Jung Hoseok
I expected you to know the difference between the game that's telecasted and the game in reality...
Jeon Jungkook
I'm sorry, Mr. Jung...but how can players handle cheering formations? It's complex, requires specific flexibility and...
Jeon Jungkook
And not to mention, my own team seems to be very confident with our own selves. It requires a lot of balancing and–
Jung Hoseok
Jeongguk-ah... The show is not tomorrow. You've both got approximately a month together to practice and figure this out together.
Jung Hoseok
(sighs) Look, I hate to put this on you both but all the teams will be showing up with something new.
Jung Hoseok
And thus, we have been pressured to pull something new, as well. So, I ask you both to co-operate and figure it out, together.
Jung Hoseok
You both are very talented and smart in your fields of work. I'm sure, you'd even learn a thing or two about each other's game in this way.
Jeongguk and Taehyung felt silent. In all honesty, they didn't have any fcking idea on how to pull this, even if they were given months of preparation.
Hoseok watched their faces, but decided to not say anything and walked back inside, leaving them both out.
Jeongguk sighed, before looking up at the taller guy, a smile coming up on his face, nevertheless...
Jeon Jungkook
Well...at least, you won today. (shrugs)
Kim Taehyung
(smiles huffing) We, Jeongguk. We won today.
Jeon Jungkook
(smiles) How have you been? I don't see you much around in the house...
Kim Taehyung
(shrugs) Yeah, well...uhm...you wouldn't have seen me. I'm either practicing, hanging out with friends or just in my room.
Jeon Jungkook
Oh, I didn't know that...(mutters)
Jungkook didn't know how to carry the conversation further ahead.
For some queer reason, every time he tried to talk to Taehyung, the conversation would turn into an awkward silence pretty quick.
Or was it just some weird ability of Jeongguk to steer every conversation into a dead end, where the ending lines would be:
Jeon Jungkook
Alright, then. Let's discuss over it someday? (chuckled awkwardly moving back towards the door)
Most of the time, Taehyung being Taehyung would've taken the cue or would've showed his disinterest in the boy, by walking away as quick as possible. Talk of two introverts forced to socialize...
But Taehyung did nothing of that sort this time. Instead, he stayed rooted, completely silent, just staring at a spot on Jeongguk's neck...
Jungkook looked at his him, and touched his neck before his eyes widened in realization. Shït. He had taken a shower before, and the concealer must've worn off–
Kim Taehyung
Who did this? (stepped forward)
Jungkook's gaze went over to meet Taehyung's, as his lips parted agape, brain trying to find a polite excuse rather than just telling Taehyung to mind his own business.
But Taehyung didn't even give him the time to think, before his hand lifted and brushed over that spot on his neck–the bruise–and Jeongguk audibly winced, backing off and covering his neck with one hand.
Kim Taehyung
(watched the reaction before opening his mouth to speak)
Jeon Jungkook
It's a love bite. (blurts out, cutting him off)
Or so had Jeongguk wished, when he just blurted out whatever came to his head. No, it was more like his tongue had a tongue of its own that spoke by itself without any neural pathway to the brain...
There was not...could not, be any connection to any logical thinking in whatever Jeongguk had blurted out. His face turned red, with sheer embarrassment, and he looked away, holding his neck still.
Jeon Jungkook
💭 Great job, Jeonnguk. Even a goat could lie better you. Wait–do goats lie though? How would they even lie? Isn't it the boy who cried wolf, the liar? Oh no... there was sheep, right? Ah, yeah...
Taehyung didn't say anything for a while, which made the situation even worse before he finally did...
Kim Taehyung
Come with me. (nodded)
Jungkook lifted his head up at him, eyes widening in confusion. But he felt like there was a need to cover up for the embarrassment, and he thanked Taehyung for doing it.
He followed the guy wordlessly, along the sidewalk, after texting Jimin about it.
The walk was eerily quiet, and Jeongguk found himself in a convenience store with Taehyung who was already walking over to the door cooler and pulling out two cold drinks, before walking back to the reception to pay for it.
For a long while, Jeongguk couldn't understand what was going on until Taehyung was standing right before him...
Kim Taehyung
Here you go. (hands him the small sized bottle of banana milk)
Jeon Jungkook
(looks down at it, gasping) How did you know? (takes it)
Kim Taehyung
How did I know what?
Jeon Jungkook
(looks up at him) That it's my favorite drink!
Kim Taehyung
... Well, I don't know. Is it? It was just a guess. (shrugs)
Jeon Jungkook
Well, the guess was pretty accurate but–
Kim Taehyung
Here. (hands over the other can of drink) Press it on the bruise. It will help with soothing it.
Jeongguk looked down at the can of cold drink before looking back up at the guy, standing there.
Jeon Jungkook
But won't it get warm? It's supposed to be a cold drink, so you should drink it while it's cold.
Kim Taehyung
I've got a sore throat. So, I will drink it when it's warm. Press it there.
Jeon Jungkook
... Thanks. (mutters)
Jeongguk took the can from the other's hand before lifting to press it up on the bruise of his neck. He shivered at the cold sensation on his skin, but sipping on the banana milk helped.
Kim Taehyung
We should head back.
Taehyung spoke, and was already turning around and walking away. Jeongguk watched his back and smiled to himself. Once an introvert, always an introvert... He thought.
They both walked in silence on their way back to the place where the celebration was still ongoing. Taehyung had his hand on the door, as he was about to open it, but Jeongguk's words stopped him.
Jeon Jungkook
Thank you very much, Taehyung. For...this. And...this. (hands over the can back)
Taehyung's gaze was unreadable as he took the can back from him and tilted his head to see if the bruise was still there.
Kim Taehyung
It's better now. If it hurts too much, take tylenol or apply arnica gel. I heard that helps.
Jeon Jungkook
(smiled nodding) It feels better too. It was throbbing a bit early in the morning, but now it's a lot better.
Jeon Jungkook
Thank you, Taehyung. And uh... I would like it if you didn't tell anyone about this.
Jeongguk lifted his gaze expectedly at the boy. A part of him knew Taehyung wouldn't speak about it to anyone, since who would even rat out on their own family?
But Taehyung looked like a good guy. Especially with the way he had asked him about the person behind the bruises...part of him was scared that Taehyung would tell everyone, and another of him wanted to scoff at his face. As if he didn't know who did it.
Taehyung, however, nodded quietly and looked away.
Jeon Jungkook
(sighs nodding) Thanks.
Kim Taehyung
On a condition.
His head snapped back to Taehyung, as he raised his brows. Condition? He wanted to scoff.
Of course, all these kind gestures were for a condition. Who was Jeongguk kidding? After all, Taehyung was a 'Kim' too.
Jeon Jungkook
... State it. I will consider.
Kim Taehyung
Nothing big. I just want to discuss over the half-time performance tomorrow.
Kim Taehyung
We could meet up and choose the participants from my team–and you could tell me a thing of two about how it works.
Kim Taehyung
(shrugs) What do you say? My place. Your timing? Or the opposite.
Jeongguk stared at the guy, for a while. He hadn't expected that for a 'condition'–hell, that was just a good plan for discussing something they both needed to work on.
Jeongguk nodded, taking another sip of his banana milk.
Jeon Jungkook
Sure. Your place. I will text you the timing tomorrow. How 'bout that?
Kim Taehyung
(shrugs) Suits me. You have my number, right?
Jeon Jungkook
No, but I can just take it from–
Kim Taehyung
No, I will just text you. (pulls out his phone)
Jeon Jungkook
(sighs before dictating his number) Just text me a 'hi' and I'll know it's you.
Taehyung stuffed the phone back in his pocket again, and began to walk back in but Jeongguk stopped him again.
Jeon Jungkook
Oh by the way, how much do I owe you? For the milk...(points at the bottle)
Taehyung looked at him for a while, his gaze unreadable again before he spoke up:
Kim Taehyung
Pay it back by showing up on time tomorrow.

The day after the celebration party–everyone was dropped safely at their homes, by the coach, himself, and were given an official day off, given that they'd join back from the next day.
But for Taehyung–the next morning, meant no rest.
For Taehyung, the morning after, meant cleaning up his room, his pile of sweaty, smelling laundry, new sheets and pillow covers and clearing and organizing.
So right after breakfast, he had set his mind on cleaning and organizing all the clutter around his room. Come to think of it, this would probably be the first time Jeongguk would be in HIS room.
The very thought of that boy being with him, alone in this room, send a shiver down Taehyung's spine that he refused to encourage, in order to not get...well...other problems.
It was around midday, when Jeongguk's text had popped up on his screen that he was on his way and would reach the house in probably fifteen minutes or so.
Kim Taehyung
Shït...(muttered to himself, before tossing the phone aside)
Taehyung speed up his process, even going as far to organize his closet and drawers because what if Jeongguk decided to open them up and sees a total mess in there?
Well, of course, that wouldn't happen, but Taehyung couldn't take any risks. He was all done, and added the finishing touch by spraying the room freshener around, so that his smelly shoes don't create a problem.
As if, just on time, the doorbell rang and Taehyung rushed downstairs to open it, coming face-to-face with the dark haired, boy with bambi eyes and a pretty mole under his lips.
Jeongguk smiled and tilted his head.
Jeon Jungkook
May I come in?
Taehyung nodded and stepped aside, holding the door for Jeongguk who took off his shoes and put on the slippers kept aside.
Jeongguk followed Taehyung upstairs to the room and the latter who was hyper conscious of the presence behind him, held every action meticulously as he opened the door of his room and went inside.
Kim Taehyung
Uhm...this is my room. You can sit and wait here if you want–I mean, of course you can sit here and...yeah. Do you–uh–do you need something?
Kim Taehyung
💭 Great job! Great. Fcking. Job. Why don't you go ahead and ask him 'why should we hire you' too, you little piece of shīt–
Jeon Jungkook
A glass of water would be nice, thank you. (smiled)
Kim Taehyung
(nodded) I will get you water.
Taehyung walked back downstairs to the kitchen, cursing himself on the way for stammering so bad like he'd gotten some speech disability or something.
Then, midway he panicked as the question struck him: what if jeongguk actually begins to go through his stuff? It's not like he's got a crazy diary where he had written all his intrusive thoughts about his crush but still!
He immediately rushed down to get the thing and rush back upstairs, but when he reached the kitchen...
Kim Taehyung
💭 Wait–why did I come here?
Taehyung tried to put pressure on his mind to remember what he was there for, but nothing could come to his head so, frustrated, he returned to the room...
Fortunately, Jeongguk was not a psychopath and so, he wasn't going through Taehyung's closet or drawer for any evidence whatsoever. The boy was calmly sitting on the floor, going through something on his phone.
He looked up when the door opened, spotting Taehyung on the door frame.
Jeon Jungkook
Oh! You're here. I was about to tell yo–
Kim Taehyung
I forgot. Whatever you asked me to get you, I went down, and I forgot.
Taehyung admitted. Well. That was it. There was no going back from this type of embarrassment. He was done for real this time.
(on a side note, this reminded me of:
Taehyung it's done bro 😞🥀)
Jeongguk watched his face for a while before busting into giggles, and he smiled and looked back up at the boy just standing there.
Jeon Jungkook
Water, Taehyung. I asked you to get me water.
Kim Taehyung
...Ah! Yes, dammit! Water. Sorry, wait, I'll get y–
Jeon Jungkook
There's no need, though. I saw that' you already have a water bottle here. We can share from it, right?
Jeongguk pointed at a water bottle on the desk and Taehyung noticed it's existence there, on the same second. His mind reeled back to the memory of him purposefully keeping the bottle there, so that they wouldn't have any disturbance.
But look at his short āss memory. He had to forget about it too. Taehyung rubbed his neck, sheepishly before walking back inside, closing the door behind him and sitting down before Jungkook.
Kim Taehyung
I'm sorry. I didn't know why I forgot about it...
Jeon Jungkook
It's okay, Taehyung. There was no inconvenience to me.
Kim Taehyung
I would still–
Jeon Jungkook
By the way, is Namjoon home? Do you know when he'll be back?
Taehyung's heart paused for a second, before withering into dust like a star in the vast space...
Namjoon. His golden elder brother and the abusive boyfriend of this person sitting before him, who was also, the one who had Taehyung's heart on the palm of his hands.
Taehyung cleared his throat before speaking...
Kim Taehyung
Hyung usually stays in the academic club. He's got stuffs to do. (spoke lowly)
Jeon Jungkook
He hasn't been answering my texts since last night. I thought he'd at least congratulate me or something...
Kim Taehyung
(looked at him before speaking)
Why are you with him, Jungkook?
There was a pause in the room as Jungkook looked up at Taehyung meeting his deadpanned gaze.
Truth' be told even Taehyung didn't know why he asked it, but he didn't want to take it back. And he didn't want to look away. No matter how rude it felt, no matter how petty he looked...
Jeon Jungkook
What–What kind of question is that? (scoffs)
Kim Taehyung
It's a logical question. (shrugs)
Jeon Jungkook
Well–aren't we here to discuss the performance–
Kim Taehyung
Oh, but weren't you the one who started the conversation about your boyfriend, when we're here to talk work?
Kim Taehyung
I was just going on with the flow, so let's talk about him. Why are you with him?
Jeon Jungkook
(gulps thickly) Is this some sort of revenge for last night? Did Namjoon ask you to do this?
Jeon Jungkook
I already apologis–
Kim Taehyung
(scoffs, shaking his head) You think I'd have offered you that drink to press on your bruises because Namjoon asked me to?
Jeon Jungkook
...Well, I know he cares for me but has a problem showing it, so maybe he had you do it for me.
Jeon Jungkook
And that's what I tried to tell him last night on the text that...
Jeongguk went on and on to list all the things he texted Namjoon last night, all the calls that he made to the said guy, all his apologies for accusing Namjoon of hanging around with some other guy behind his back...
But Taehyung couldn't listen all of it. What'd he do with it? Would knowing all of that make Jeongguk his?
Jeon Jungkook–the boy, who entered the first class, in the same year as his and entranced him at first glance. He wasn't that popular or charismatic but oh, it was an experience enough to just look at his face...
He had set his mind he would do anything to acquire the said guy–he'd set up flowers, dates, find out what Jungkook likes, find out about his interests...
He gave it time. Studying and watching Jungkook, magnifying on the habits and body language and the micro expressions. Stalker-ish? Maybe.
But this was his first time, too.
Falling in love, that is.
They say, first love's are almost always memorable. Memorable throughout lifetimes–because that's when you actually realise what love is. Yet, it's a beautiful, sad reality that not everyone gets to be with their first love's.
Taehyung was on the path of his first love. Ready to make it as memorable as it could be. To soar as high and go as deep as it could, to write it on the sky with the ocean's water as it's ink...a small story of his love.
But luck didn't favour him.
Namjoon had just showed up one day, and asked him out, and it was the news of the entire university: Namjoon, the popular senior bagging the pretty fresher from the cheerleading team.
Taehyung couldn't say anything. He didn't know what he could even do. He could only let go and move on...except he was only able to let go.
Because even now, Jungkook's bambi eyes still made him want to pluck out stars for him–if he'd ask him to.
Because even now, Jeongguk's giggles haunted his dreams–probably the only place where he'd have him, all to himself.
Even now. Even when all the boy could talk about was his abusive boyfriend, who didn't deserve a chance with him, even then...
Taehyung would still prioritize Jeongguk's happiness first, second and third.
And this didn't need to be written in some secret diary or said to someone close.
It was already engraved in his heart, treasured safely, so far away from the knowledge of the owner, himself.
Kim Taehyung
(sighs) Let's just discuss the performance formation.
