Moving with pure instinct, he scooped the small creature into his arms and stepped back onto the pavement, his high school uniform slightly disheveled from the rush. Inside the idling car, another boy wearing the exact same school uniform watched through the glass, his long black hair framing an unreadable expression as his eyes locked onto the boy with the kitten.
