The beginning
In a far away land there the Validians and merfolk lived in harmony governed by rules of the elders .
The first law forbade love between the Validians and the Merfolk, for it was believed their offspring would become an abomination of nature.
Of course everyone followed that rule for no child deserved the cruelty of being disfigured .
The second one was that no one even the elders can enter the cave of the guardian.
The Guardian, the Great Protector and Provider, must never be disturbed.
Long ago, he fought a war so great that no living soul remembers its true horrors. Though he saved the world, the battle claimed his body, turning it to stone. His soul remained imprisoned within the lifeless statue of his shattered form.
Since that day, he has stood in eternal silence, and those who value their lives know never to awaken what was meant to remain undisturbed.
Though his body was imprisoned in stone, the Guardian never abandoned his people. Even in eternal silence, his power continued to flow through the land. The forests remained green, the rivers ran clear, the seas were filled with fish, and the fields yielded plentiful harvests.
The rains came in their season, the winds remained gentle, and the earth flourished. So long as the Great Protector and Provider endured, his people would never know starvation, nor would they suffer the wrath of a dying world.
