Magnate and the Muse

The Night Run

It was nighttime in Paris. A girl was running continuously on a deserted road. Her shoulders were covered in dust and dirt. Her long, thick black hair was scattering everywhere. Sweat was pouring profusely from her forehead like water. Her breath was coming in heavy gasps.

Still, she kept running relentlessly. She didn't have the courage to stop anywhere. But as she kept sprinting, she grew so exhausted that her legs finally gave out on her. Desperate, she began searching for a hiding spot nearby. All around her, in the thick jungle, stood massive, towering trees. Apart from the dense bushes, she could see nothing else.

[- She whispers to herself]

"I can't run anymore... Where do I hide?"

But just then, the girl suddenly heard the sound of many footsteps approaching all at once. She quickly got up and, controlling her fear, darted into the bushes to hide. Even at that moment, she was shaking badly. She quickly covered her mouth with her hand so that no one could even hear her breathing.

Soon, more than seven dozen people—all wearing black suits—arrived there. Among them was one man who was their leader.

[ - The leader speaks in French]

"We have to find Young Madam somewhere, no matter what. Otherwise, our executioner, the Devil Boss, will tear us to pieces and feed us to the animals. Find her by any means, or today, our death is certain."

Hearing her boss's orders, some of the men spread out in all four directions, while the others moved ahead to search. Right there, the girl hiding in the bushes listened to his words, freezing and shrinking deeper into herself.

But just then, a man in a black suit came walking toward her cautiously. The sound of his footsteps getting closer made her breath catch in her throat.

[The girl prays silently in her mind]

"Please God... please no... don't send me back into that devil's trap. Please help me... God, save me, please."

Was it the effect of that girl's prayer, or something else entirely? Just as that man was about to reach her, his earpiece buzzed with his boss's voice.

[ - Voice from the earpiece]

"It seems no one is here. Let's go; she can't have gone far yet. We have to find her no matter what."

Hearing his orders, the man turned around and walked back. The girl heard his footsteps fading away. Only then did she dare to open her eyes and look around. But because of the darkness, she couldn't see much.

However, she realized the man had left. But out of sheer fear, she stayed hidden in the bushes for another 15–20 minutes. When she finally felt it was safe to leave, she came out of the bushes.

Walking out of the jungle, she looked around and started running back down the same deserted road. She was so scared and panicked that she kept looking behind her while running. Because of that, she didn't even see the car speeding toward her, and suddenly, she came right in front of it, causing a severe accident.

The Devil Boss

Meanwhile, in a luxurious villa in Paris, inside the master bedroom, a man was holding a glass of red wine, staring at a large portrait of a girl covering the entire wall in front of him.

He was staring at it with burning red eyes. He looked as handsome as he was dangerous at this moment. His deep blue eyes were bloodshot with rage. The features of his face looked as if God had crafted him with immense precision. His perfectly trimmed beard, straight nose, thin light-pink lips, and a muscular body with eight-pack abs combined to make him look no less than a Greek God.

His white shirt's top three buttons were open, revealing his sculpted chest. His biceps were visible through the folded sleeves of his shirt. Standing ten feet away from him were over a dozen men in black suits, their heads bowed, trembling in fear. Sweat was pouring down their faces. Their hands and feet had turned ice-cold. The silence was so thick that you could hear a pin drop, a dreadful calm before a storm.

Suddenly, the phone ringtone echoed among the standing men. It was their boss's unique ringtone. The man pulled his phone out of his pocket, looked at the screen—which showed the name "Flash"—and answered the call. He didn't say anything.

[ A girl's frantic voice from the phone]

"Chhote! It's an emergency! I need your help! Please, before she..."

[The man's cold, slow voice]

"Do not call at this time."

He cut the call right there. The girl on the other end kept shouting, "Hello, Chhote, hello!" but the line was already dead. Annoyed, he mumbled to himself, "Nothing can happen to this girl." Meanwhile, the master of the luxurious villa turned around and, in a slow but ice-cold voice, spoke in French to the men standing behind him.

[- The man's chilling voice]

"I asked you a question."

His words choked the breath right out of their throats. But one of the men had to answer, so he bravely took a half-step forward, swallowed his fear, and spoke.

[- The terrified man]

"Boss... we searched everywhere, but we couldn't find Young Madam anywhere."

Before he could even finish his sentence, a loud crashing sound echoed in the room. Hearing his man's words, the boss crushed the wine glass in his hand in a rage. The grip was so tight that the glass shattered into pieces right in his palm. Some glass shards fell on the floor, while others cut deep into his hands, blood dripping onto the floor.

But looking at his face, it seemed like he didn't care at all. However, the next second, the room echoed with five gunshots firing continuously. The man who had stepped forward now lay dead on the floor.

As soon as his eyes fell on the bodies, the man's mouth fell open in shock. Five of his men were now lying dead on the floor. Their boss's aim had been absolutely perfect. Seeing those five corpses, the rest were trembling in fear. Not a single sound came from their mouths. They didn't even dare to breathe loudly. Who knew if they would be next?

The boss of the men raised his terrified eyes and looked at his boss, who at this moment looked like a demon straight out of hell. The prominent veins on his forehead, neck, and hands made it clear that he had turned into a volcano ready to erupt on all of them. He was staring at the man with burning eyes. Then, grabbing the man's neck, he lifted him an inch off the ground.

Seeing this, the man was so terrified that no sound came from his mouth. His hands tried to stop the boss's grip, but his entire face had turned red, and he was about to pass out. He was having trouble breathing, his life slipping away as he struggled to break free. But the boss's grip on his neck was so strong that even if he wanted to, he couldn't free himself. The boss, with anger blazing in his eyes, emphasized every single word as he spoke in cold French.

[ - The boss's cold, ruthless French]

"I want my Baby Doll back at any cost. Find her. Or else, if she isn't found, it won't take me a single second to kill all of you."

Saying this, he mercilessly threw the man onto the floor. The man grabbed his neck, coughing and gasping for breath. The boss gave one cold glance at the corpses on the floor. A few moments later, the master bedroom was completely clean. There was no trace of blood, and no men were present. But even now, the boss was consumed by the same rage—or perhaps even more—than before. He stood there, staring at the portrait with his red eyes. Raising his hand, he touched the portrait as if the girl in it was standing right in front of him.

[ The boss speaking to the portrait]

"You made a mistake, Baby Doll. A huge mistake by running away from here. You will pay the price for this. Baby Doll, no matter where you go, you will have to come back to me. You cannot leave me. You can't live anywhere without me. Baby Doll... you have to come back."

He screamed his last line and then threw a flower vase, smashing it into the TV on the wall. Glass scattered everywhere across the floor.

Six months later

Six months later, in a posh residential area of Delhi, inside a room in a luxurious mansion, a girl was sleeping deeply, hugging her pillow. Gentle sunlight was streaming through the glass window, falling on her beautiful face.

Her fair skin glowed like moonlight. Her long, thick black hair was scattered over the pillow. She had long, thick eyelashes, big dark eyes (closed right now), a straight thin nose, slightly chubby cheeks, and a soft smile. Because of that smile, tiny dimples appeared on her cheeks. Overall, she looked no less than a fairy right now.

Suddenly, the door of the room was knocked. But it didn't even reach the girl's ears; she was still deep in her sleep. When there was no answer from inside, a girl with a mischievous look on her face burst open the door and walked in. She was wearing a black T-shirt, black jeans, and white shoes. Her curly brown hair fell freely to her shoulders. She wore no makeup, no accessories, yet she looked like a complete tomboy.

[- The tomboy girl shaking her]

"Vidhi! Vidhi! Vidhi! Wake up, oh twin sister of Kumbhakarna! Wake up, or we'll be late for college!"

The girl kept trying to wake her up repeatedly, but it was impossible; Vidhi pupils didn't even move. She just turned over, pulling her hand off her shoulder, and went back to sleep. Seeing this made the tomboy girl's blood boil. She picked up a jug of water from the side table and poured it directly on Vidhi's face.

[ - Vidhi screaming]

"Flood! Flood! Help! The flood is coming!"

[- The tomboy's annoyed voice]

"Shut up, my mother will drown in that flood. She doesn't know, but if you keep screaming like this, I'll definitely go deaf."

When Vidhi heard a familiar voice, she went silent. She turned her head in confusion and saw her best friend, Misha, standing near the bed, eyes filled with anger, holding an empty water jug. Vidhi made a face and teased her.

[- Vidhi teasing]

"Chuail (Witch)… if you had to wake me up, you could have done it lovingly! Was it really necessary to bathe me with a full jug of water?"

[ - Misha annoyed]

"Huh, yeah! Why not? When I wake you up with love, you get up? Why? Since when do you get up with love?"

[ Vidhi laughing]

"I was getting up with love, but to wake the twin sister of Kumbhakarna, I have to pour water on her face! Every morning she says this. This is my mom!"

Vidhi, confused, looked at Misha.

[Vidhi]

"Water has to be poured on Kumbhakarna... but now who is this? Who is this?"

[Misha remembering]

"Oh! The one whose brother was killed by Lord Ram, the one who always slept. Oh man, I forget his name."

[Vidhi correcting her]

"No, it's not coming to my mind, but mom once told a story. I heard about him in it."

Hearing that, Vidhi gave a tight slap on her forehead and sat up. She looked at Misha, who was scratching her head, trying to remember the name. Vidhi gave a soft slap on her head and spoke.

[Vidhi]

"Idiot! His name was not Kukran; it was Kumbhakarna.

[ Misha]

"Got it, right? Now go and get ready. You know, we have Misha's class today. If you are even a little late in her class, she will make us stand outside the class for the whole day. On top of that, her long lecture is coming. I have no interest in listening to all that. So go and hurry up and get ready."

Misha shoved Vidhi forcefully into the washroom. Vidhi wore a white crop top over a navy blue jacket, paired with navy blue jeans and white shoes. She applied a light pink lip gloss and left her hair open.

Vidhi and Misha grabbed their bags and came downstairs, where they saw a woman in the dining hall arranging plates on the table. A sweet smile appeared on both their faces, and they ran to hug the woman from behind.

When the woman felt someone clinging to her, a sweet smile appeared on her face too, because she knew exactly who was hugging her from behind. She raised both her hands slightly and placed them on the heads of Vidhi and Misha standing behind her.

[The woman lovingly]

"My two princesses are awake. Now hurry up and have breakfast, or you'll be late for college."

Saying this, she sat both of them on chairs and started serving them breakfast. Seeing this, Vidhi spoke to her.

[Vidhi]

"Mom, why do you do all this? We have so many servants at home, and we can even eat ourselves."

Before Vidhi could finish her sentence, Anjali Ji interrupted her mid-sentence.

[ Anjali Ji]

"Because I love doing this for my children and my family."

[Anjali ji]

"No more conversations! We don't talk while eating."

Hearing her, Vidhi quieted down. But our Misha kept babbling.

[- Misha with a mouthful of food]

"But Mom, I don't see any dad anywhere. Did Dad go to the office early today?"

[ Anjali Ji]

"Yes, actually today some foreign clients were coming to meet him. That's why he left for the office early."

Anjali Ji put an Aloo Paratha on their plates, over which Misha shook her head in happiness. After breakfast, Vidhi and Misha hugged their mom goodbye and came to the garage. There, a line of luxury cars was parked, from beautiful to expensive.

Misha, walking in her own world, went to a car, unlocked it, opened the door, and was just about to sit on the driver's seat when suddenly she remembered something. Panicking, she closed the car door again and threw the keys towards Vidhi. She went and sat on the passenger seat next to the driving seat, strapping on her seatbelt. Vidhi glanced at the keys in her hand, then looked at Misha, who had already closed her eyes and sat back with a seatbelt on. Sadness was clearly visible on her face.
