The Villainess Refuses To Play Nice
Chapter 1
A grand, silent dining hall inside a luxurious mansion. Dozens of servants stand in a line. A middle-aged man with a cold aura sits at the far end of an unusually long dining table.
Servants
(Bowing in unison) Welcome, My Lady.
Alistair Von Valerius/FL Dad
You are late, Seraphina.
We don't make eye contact when greeting each other.
Seraphina Von Valerius/FL
Well, I am always late anyway.
Nor do our conversations even last long.
(The two sit at opposite ends of the giant table. The silence between them is suffocating.)
It's something you would never see between a normal parent and child. Well, considering who the real owner of this body is, I guess it is not all that surprising.
Before I tell you about who I am, you need to know about this first: a cliché novel titled" The Brats I Love."
The story begins with the female lead receiving recognition for her magic and being adopted by a baron, despite her commoner origins. Soon enough, the four male leads appear, yearning for her love—the crown prince, the sniper, the werewolf, and the multimillionaire.
All four men, varying in personality and status, cling to her. The reason? Maybe because she is as beautiful and kind as an angel.
Anyway, most novels need a villainess. Our villainess happens to be the crown prince's fiancée, the sniper's older sister, a fierce werewolf hater, and a rare troublemaker who constantly clashes with the millionaire's business.
I am Seraphina Von Valerius. Both my personality and my relationships with others are utter trash. So, there is no way I would be friendly with my own family. The awkward silence here? Completely understandable.
(Seraphina slumps over her plate, messily devouring her food while sauce drips down.)
Gwen Sterling/FL Maid
Miss, do you have a hole in your chin? You are spilling everything.
(Gwen steps forward, calmly wiping Seraphina’s face with a napkin.)
Gwen Sterling/FL Maid
What would you do without me?
Seraphina Von Valerius/FL
I would be happy, that's for sure.
(Seraphina suddenly stops eating and leans forward on the table, glancing toward her father.)
Seraphina Von Valerius/FL
Oh, by the way, Your Grace... where is our little brown-haired friend who happens to share familial blood with me? I haven't seen him around. Is he finally dead?
(The Duke remains unfazed, sipping his tea slowly.)
Alistair Von Valerius/FL Dad
He left saying he had to protect someone.
Seraphina Von Valerius/FL
That clueless little kiddo doesn't even seem to know where his own house is. Tell him to drop the proud brat act.
Alistair Von Valerius/FL Dad
He is our only heir. I can't do that.
(Seraphina slams her hands on the table and stands up.)
Seraphina Von Valerius/FL
Your so-called heir always wanders around without ever coming home! I really can't understand what you like about that son of a bitch.
(She pauses, a mocking smile playing on her lips.)
Seraphina Von Valerius/FL
Oh, right... You must like him because he's your son, right?
(Seraphina turns away from the table, dusting off her dress.)
Seraphina Von Valerius/FL
Then this humble daughter of yours will gladly get out of your sight. I came because I thought you might be lonely, but I see my efforts were in vain.
(Seraphina walks away, leaving her father sitting alone at the head of the giant table. Duke Alistair massages his temples with a heavy sigh.)
Alistair Von Valerius/FL Dad
Ah, my head! I swear, that little rascal...!
(Seraphina strolls down the grand hallway, her dress swaying with every confident step.)
To be honest, it's unfair that I have to suffer the consequences of my past self's bitchy behavior, considering I wasn't the one who actually did any of it.
Or at least... that's what I thought at first.
(She stops near a large window, looking at her striking reflection in the glass with a smirk.)
But after giving it some thought, I realized... what's so bad about it?
I have zero intention of playing the villainess role as written in the novel.
But that doesn't mean I'm going to repent and become some selfless saintess either.
As long as I don't seduce the male leads or build a reverse harem of my own, and simply endure the karma of my past self, my epic fantasy life will unfold beautifully!
Chapter 2
(Inside Seraphina's luxurious bedroom. She is sitting at her wooden desk with a feather quill, humming to herself as she writes on parchment.)
Seraphina Von Valerius/FL
Hmm...
(She carefully writes the top header of the parchment in elegant cursive.)
Seraphina Von Valerius/FL
"To my beloved Crown Prince..."
The recipient of this letter, which I am currently writing with so much love and care, is the Imperial Crown Prince.
Seraphina Von Valerius/FL
"How are you doing, Your Highness?"
(Seraphina glances out her window with sparkling, bright eyes. Outside, two cute little birds are perched on a tree branch, chirping and pecking each other lovingly.)
Seraphina Von Valerius/FL
"Though we are nearing the end of summer, I can still hear many birds singing and flowers blooming outside. So, I would like to convey my heartfelt message to you on this lovely day..."
(Suddenly, her expression turns dead serious. She presses her pen down hard and scribbles in giant, bold letters across the page.)
Seraphina Von Valerius/FL
"BREAK OFF OUR ENGAGEMENT."
(She admires her work with a satisfied nod.)
Seraphina Von Valerius/FL
Hmm, nice! The last words were written very neatly.
As one of Seraphina's main love interests, the Crown Prince was also a major pain in the ass that I needed to get rid of as early as possible.
(She continues writing with rapid speed.)
Seraphina Von Valerius/FL
"It's very important, so I'll repeat it again: Please break off our engagement."
Seraphina Von Valerius/FL
"I am not particularly interested in knowing whose name was on the flowers you sent me. Nor do I want to know who you have been spending hot nights with lately."
(Flashback visual: A bouquet of roses sent by the Prince sitting on a side table. Attached is a card mistakenly addressed to "Scarlett" instead of Seraphina.)
Seraphina Von Valerius/FL
"Besides, don't you hate me anyway? Just break it off with me, no strings attached."
Seraphina Von Valerius/FL
"This is my 49th letter to you. I don't want to waste any more paper. If you love the fame and reputation of our family so much, then just marry my brother Dominic instead."
(Seraphina pauses mid-sentence, her eyes widening slightly as she re-reads the last line.)
Seraphina Von Valerius/FL
Oops... I think I wrote too much without thinking.
(She holds the parchment up to inspect it. Her ink writing has chaotic scribbles and notes overflowing into all the side margins of the page.)
(A mischievous smirk creeps onto her face.)
Seraphina Von Valerius/FL
Ha! Just as I expected!
Seraphina Von Valerius/FL
I have such great handwriting, truly befitting a Duke's daughter.
(Seraphina hands the sealed parchment over to her personal maid with a lazy flourish.)
Seraphina Von Valerius/FL
Gwen, if you have nothing else to do, go and deliver this letter. Tell the Imperial Palace that the Crown Prince's fiancée sent this to him.
(Gwen takes the letter, staring at the chaotic ink scribbles on the envelope with a tired, judgy look.)
Gwen Sterling/FL Maid
Ugh, so annoying... Can't you just barge in and tell them yourself that you want to break off the engagement, just like you did last time?
Gwen Sterling/FL Maid
You've already been there more than ten times.
(Seraphina dramatically points her index finger in the air.)
Seraphina Von Valerius/FL
If he doesn't send me a response back this time either, then I'll just throw another fit in person. Just send the letter for now!
Gwen Sterling/FL Maid
(Sighs) Yes, My Lady.
Seraphina Von Valerius/FL
Don't wander around on your way there!
(Gwen completely ignores her, turns on her heel, and slams the heavy wooden door shut behind her with a loud BAM!)
(Seraphina blinks, staring at the closed door in disbelief.)
Seraphina Von Valerius/FL
Jeez, look at that attitude... Does she even consider me her mistress?
(She rolls her eyes, immediately brushing it off as she walks toward her walk-in wardrobe.)
Seraphina Von Valerius/FL
Well, anyway... Should I pick out some clothes to wear for my visit to Evelyn?
