After Zhang Hailou placed Zhang Haixia in a crystal coffin within an ancient tomb, a woman descended into the tomb two days later. She opened the lid of the crystal coffin. "I've returned to repay the favor I owe you," she said, slicing her left wrist.
Blood flowed and trickled into Zhang Haixia's mouth. Caiyou worm tore its way out of the left side of Zhang Haixia's chest to drink the woman's blood. A knife struck the Caiyou worm, killing it instantly. "You have a fierce will to live. Zhang Hailou failed to kill you, but today, you die by my hand," the woman said with a cruel smile.
She flicked the dead Caiyou worm to the ground before sheathing her knife. The gaping wound in Zhang Haixia's chest healed on its own. "That should be enough," she said, bandaging the cut on her wrist. She glanced at Zhang Haixia, then at the opening through which she had entered.
"If I'd known I'd have to carry someone out, I would have asked for help," she said in exasperation. Left with no other choice, she hoisted Zhang Haixia onto her back and strapped their bodies together with a rope; she didn't want Zhang Haixia who had survived this to fall from a height and die.
#One month later
The woman gazed at Zhang Haixia, who was still lying in bed. Zhang Haixia slowly stirred from his long slumber. He sat up and looked at the woman. "Who are you?" Zhang Haixia asked. "I am your female cousin, Zhang Qingyuan. And you are Zhang Haixia. 'Xia' as in a wandering hero," the woman replied.
"What happened to me? And why is this bracelet on my wrist?" Zhang Haixia asked. "You were on a mission; you were injured, and now you have amnesia. As for the bracelet, you made it yourself," Zhang Qingyuan said casually. "What kind of mission? One that leaves you so badly injured you lose your memory?" Zhang Haixia asked again.
"You have so many questions. Get some rest; I still want to open the noodle shop. We're in Chang Xiang, don't go wandering the streets," Zhang Qingyuan said before stepping out. Zhang Haixia knew Zhang Qingyuan was hiding something from him.
The side effect of Zhang Haixia's return to life was memory loss, a condition that could be either permanent or temporary, depending on what happened next. Zhang Qingyuan hoped he would forget his bitter past and start a new life.
#A few years later
Zhang Haixia was helping Zhang Qingyuan sell noodles. The shop had just seen a rush of female customers, and Zhang Qingyuan sat in a chair, exhausted. "Tired? Have some water," Zhang Haixia said, handing him a bowl of water. Zhang Qingyuan gulped it down quickly.
"Your face really has great selling power," Zhang Qingyuan remarked with a sigh. Zhang Haixia sat down beside her. A pigeon landed on Zhang Qingyuan's hand; he retrieved a letter from its leg, and the bird flew off.
Zhang Qingyuan read the message and smiled. "Do you want to visit Xiacheng?" he asked. "No need; Chang Xiang is interesting enough. What did the message say?" Haixia asked. "My enemy is out of town," Zhang Qingyuan said with a smile. Zhang Haixia looked at her suspiciously.
'I can't exactly tell you that your lifelong companion, Zhang Hailou, has gone out on a mission with the Patriarch (Zhang Qiling) and Zhang Haiqi.' Zhang Qingyuan thought calmly. "Let's close up shop; it's getting late and I want to go home," Zhang Qingyuan said, smiling. Zhang Haixia nodded.
#A week later
Zhang Haiqi came to Zhang Qingyuan's shop for noodles. "Customer, what kind of noodles would you like to order?" Zhang Haixia asked, looking at Zhang Haiqi. Suddenly, Zhang Haixia clutched his head in pain. "Haixia, are you alright?" Zhang Qingyuan asked as she emerged from the kitchen.
Zhang Qingyuan faced Zhang Haiqi as the two clashed. "Who told you?" Zhang Qingyuan demanded angrily. "Who told me doesn't matter. But there is someone who needs him" Zhang Haiqi replied. Their battle was fierce; neither side was willing to yield.
Zhang Haixia's scream of pain distracted Zhang Qingyuan, leaving her vulnerable to a blow that forced her back. Zhang Qingyuan immediately moved toward Zhang Haixia, but her hand stopped in mid-air. "Master," Zhang Haixia said, gazing at Zhang Haiqi.
Zhang Haiqi nodded. Zhang Haixia walked toward Zhang Haiqi. Zhang Qingyuan fell to her knees on the ground, clutching her chest. Zhang Haixia and Zhang Haiqi turned to look at her. "A-Yuan, are you alright?" Zhang Haixia asked worriedly. "Get lost," Zhang Qingyuan said angrily. Zhang Haiqi pulled Zhang Haixia away. Zhang Qingyuan collapsed onto the ground and lost consciousness.
°Zhang Qishan's mansion°
Zhang Qingyuan lay in the guest room bed, looking frail. "What happened to her?" Qi Tiezui asked in a panic. "Xinyue was changing her clothes and saw a phoenix tattoo on her back. My father once told me a top-secret fact about the Zhang family, something he had heard from my grandfather," Zhang Qishan said with a sigh.
"What is it?" Qi Tiezui asked curiously. Zhang Qishan looked at Qi Tiezui before continuing. "A child was born differently into the main Zhang family; while everyone else bears a Qilin tattoo, she has a fenghuang tattoo. Her blood doesn't repel worms or insects, it attracts them. Her blood possesses the ability to heal and regenerate organs. She can save someone from death, but doing so binds her life to that person. It takes decades for that bond to fade," Zhang Qishan explained.
"Then what does Zhang Haixia leaving have to do with her current condition?" Qi Tiezui asked. "The bond was forcibly severed, and the memories Zhang Haixia had lost came rushing back, this is backfired, she needs to bear. That is what made her the way she is now; when she wakes up, she will have lost her memory," Zhang Qishan said. "I only wanted Zhang Haixia to meet Zhang Haiqi and Zhang Hailou," Qi Tiezui said, feeling guilty.
"Ba Ye, because Zhang Haixia asked you to divine his fortune, you actually restored his memories," Zhang Rishan teased. "Shut your mouth," Qi Tiezui snapped angrily. "We have no choice but to bring her into the military," Zhang Qishan said, looking at Zhang Qingyuan.

°Zhang Haiqi's House°
"Hailou," Zhang Haixia called out to Zhang Hailou, who was lecturing Zhang Hai Dou about protecting Zhang Hai Chan during the mission. Zhang Hailou turned around, startled. He ran over and hugged Zhang Haixia tightly. "Two grown men hugging like that, aren't you embarrassed in front of your disciples?" Zhang Haiqi chided. "It's none of your business." Zhang Hailou said indifferently. "I'm still alive." Zhang Haixia said. Zhang Hailou released the embrace. "How did you survive? Did the Patriarch save you?" Zhang Hailou asked. Zhang Haixia shook his head. "A woman named Zhang Qingyuan. She said she was my older female cousin," Zhang Haixia said.
"Do you know someone named Zhang Qingyuan?" Zhang Hailou asked, looking at Zhang Haiqi. "I've never heard that name. But she seemed to know everyone." Zhang Haiqi said. "Hailou, I want to go back to Chang Xiang to see her. Will you come with me?" Zhang Haixia asked.
Zhang Hailou smiled. "Wherever you go, I go," Zhang Hailou said with a smile. Zhang Haixia smiled back. Zhang Hai Dou and Zhang Hai Chan looked at Zhang Haixia curiously. "Call him Shishu." Zhang Hailou told his two disciples. "Shishu" Zhang Hai Dou and Zhang Hai Chan said. Zhang Haixia nodded.
Zhang Hailou and Zhang Haixia returned to Chang Xiang but found no trace of Zhang Qingyuan as if she had never existed or lived there over the past few years. It was as though her very existence had been erased by someone.

°Xinyue Restaurant°
Zhang Rishan walked into his office. "Did you meet the woman you like?" Zhang Qingyuan asked. "What about you?" Zhang Rishan countered. Both of them laughed. "Did you come to settle the bill?" Zhang Rishan asked.
"Let them pay for it themselves. I work hard managing the Zhang family's finances, yet the Patriarch... well, he burns through money faster than I can make it. He, Wu Xie, and Wang Pangzi can pay their own way. That 260 million will make them realize that money isn't easily earned." Zhang Qingyuan protested. "Then why did you come?" Zhang Rishan asked.
"To see you. After all, you and I both worked under Fo Ye's command in the past, so I wanted to see how you're doing." Zhang Qingyuan said. "Are you leaving Beijing?" Zhang Rishan asked. "There's a meeting with members from other regions. If I’d known it would be this much trouble, I would have faked my own death." Zhang Qingyuan said.
"You say that, but you never complain in your heart, even when the Patriarch does something unreasonable." Zhang Rishan noted. "The Patriarch is old, so I cut him some slack." Zhang Qingyuan said teasingly.
"You're older than him." Zhang Rishan pointed out. "You're right; technically, I am his senior. Talking to you makes me feel more relaxed. I'm off now." Zhang Qingyuan said, preparing to leave. "Have you recovered your memories yet?" Zhang Rishan asked.
"Not yet. I've forgotten which ancient tomb I was supposed to excavate. I haven't had time to go tomb-raiding these past few years; the Patriarch burns through too much money." Zhang Qingyuan said before leaving. "Perhaps it's better if you don't remember." Zhang Rishan said sadly.
°Zhang Family Meeting Room°
"Zhang Haike, what are you trying to do? Don't you know I'm very busy?" Zhang Qingyuan asked. "I was thinking. couldn't you let someone help you manage the Zhang company?" Zhang Haike suggested. "Zhang Haike, what is your objective? Do you intend to split the Zhang family's assets?" Zhang Qingyuan asked suspiciously.
"What do you mean? My brother has good intentions!" Zhang Haixing said angrily. "Was I speaking to you? Shut your mouth! Otherwise, I'll kill you." Zhang Qingyuan said flatly. "Why does your temper seem to grow worse by the day?" Zhang Longban asked.
"You showed up; I thought you’d been eaten by zongzi." Zhang Qingyuan remarked sarcastically. "Your temper getting worse." Zhang Longban admitted. "Zhang Haiqi? Isn't she coming?" Zhang Longban asked. "She has stepped down from her position. Her disciple, Zhang Haiyan, has taken over her work." Zhang Haike said.
"Where are they?" Zhang Qingyuan asked. "They haven't arrived yet." Zhang Haike replied. Zhang Qingyuan gazed up at the ceiling, her fingers tapping the table as if weighing the best course of action. "If willing to help, it's not problem, but if you can't reach me, don't cause trouble," Zhang Qingyuan said flatly.
"Are you going to the ancient tomb again?" Zhang Longban asked with concern. "I won't die that easily." Zhang Qingyuan said, standing up and grabbing her jacket from the chair. "Be careful," Zhang Haike said worriedly. "Don't worry; isn't there someone to carry on the business affairs?" Zhang Qingyuan said as she put on her black jacket and pulled up the hood.
"Tomorrow, 10 a.m. Right here. I'll bring everything regarding the Zhang company's affairs," Zhang Qingyuan said before walking away, her hands in her pockets. "Where is she actually from?" Zhang Haixing asked. "I'm not entirely sure myself. The Patriarch brought her in. But her abilities are second only to the Patriarch's. She used to be one of the Mystic Nine." Zhang Longban said.
"The Mystic Nine?" Zhang Haixing asked curiously. "She is one of Zhang Da Fo Ye's people; the Patriarch brought her into the inner circle of the main family. Since then, she has managed all of the Zhang family's finances. Rumor has it that she has no memory of her past, and she was likely a disciple of the former Patriarch." said Zhang Longban.
As Zhang Qingyuan stepped out, she crossed paths with Zhang Hailou and Zhang Haixia, who were entering the room. Zhang Haixia turned to watch Zhang Qingyuan’s retreating figure. "Xiazai? Hurry up, we're already late." said Zhang Hailou. Zhang Haixia looked away and followed Zhang Hailou into the meeting room.
"Sorry we're late," Zhang Hailou said as he sat down. Zhang Haixia sat down as well. "Where is the Patriarch's secretary?" Zhang Hailou asked. "She's already left." Zhang Longban replied. "You need to be here tomorrow at 10 a.m. She has an unstable temperament." Zhang Longban added.
"That's better than her showing a cold, indifferent face. Eventually, she'll become a second Patriarch." Haike said with a smile. "True enough." Zhang Longban agreed. "What is the secretary's name?" Zhang Haixia suddenly asked. "We don't know her real name. We call her A Qing." Zhang Longban said.
#The next day
Everyone had gathered, except for Zhang Qingyuan. "Is she coming or not?" Zhang Haixing asked irritably. Zhang Qingyuan walked in, yawning, with her jacket hood up and dragging three suitcases.
"Zhang Haixia and Zhang Hailou, these are the company files you need to understand and study. If there's anything you don't get, ask Zhang Haike." Zhang Qingyuan said, yawning mid-sentence; her eyes looked watery. Upon hearing her voice, Zhang Haixia froze. "A Yuan?" Zhang Haixia called out.
Zhang Qingyuan pulled back her hood and looked at Zhang Haixia. "Do you know me?" Zhang Qingyuan asked, staring at Zhang Haixia. Zhang Haixia looked at Zhang Qingyuan in shock. "She's the one who saved you." Zhang Hailou said; Zhang Haixia nodded in response. "Where did you go?" Zhang Haixia asked.
Zhang Qingyuan gave Zhang Haixia a blank look before turning her gaze to Zhang Haike. "I'm leaving now." Zhang Qingyuan said, but as she walked away, Zhang Hailou grabbed her shoulder. A scuffle broke out between Zhang Hailou and Zhang Qingyuan. Almost instinctively, Zhang Haixia joined the fight, but Zhang Qingyuan slammed both of them onto the floor.
Zhang Qingyuan yawned. "Spitting blades and moving quickly. Not bad, but not enough," Zhang Qingyuan said as she walked away. "Where are you rushing off to?" Zhang Haike asked. "To say goodbye to the Patriarch. If I'm late, he'll have already gone inside." Zhang Qingyuan replied. "In all likelihood, the Patriarch has already entered." Zhang Longban noted.
"I should have been faster." Zhang Qingyuan said with annoyance. "You broke both their bones. Fix them!" Zhang Haike ordered. Zhang Qingyuan approached Zhang Haixia and Zhang Hailou and set their bones back in place. "Sorry." Zhang Qingyuan said.
"Where are you going now?" Zhang Longban asked. Zhang Hailou and Zhang Haixia stared silently at Zhang Qingyuan. "To a good place." Zhang Qingyuan replied. "Don't you remember me?" Zhang Haixia asked, looking at Zhang Qingyuan seriously.
"This is our first meeting, so there's no way I would know you." Zhang Qingyuan said flatly. Zhang Qingyuan nodded at Zhang Hailou and Zhang Haixia before leaving. Zhang Haixia sighed, while Zhang Hailou followed after her. "Do you really not remember, or are you pretending not to?" Hailou asked seriously.
"Zhang Hailou? I've never met Zhang Haixia. So, you've got the wrong person." Zhang Qingyuan said. "Your blood attracts insects." Zhang Haixia said as he come out, pulling three suitcases. Zhang Qingyuan glanced at Zhang Haixia but continued on her way. "Zhang Hailou and Zhang Haixia? Interesting people," Zhang Qingyuan mused.
"It's as if she doesn't know you." Zhang Hailou said seriously. "Right, something might have happened to her. Now we have to go through this whole stack of documents." Zhang Haixia said, pointing to the three suitcases he had brought.
"For the Patriarch's sake, we have to give it our all!" Zhang Hailou declared. Zhang Haixia smiled. "Our Hailou, you've really grown up." she said. "I grew up a long time ago. But you're the one who spoils me too much." Zhang Hailou said with a smile. The two of them laughed together.
Zhang Hailou and Zhang Haixia had been poring over documents all night when Zhang Haiqi approached them. "What are you two doing?" Zhang Haiqi asked. Seeing the dark circles under their eyes, Zhang Haiqi realized it couldn't have been just one night; they must have been at it for at least a week.
"Shifu, you're here." Zhang Haixia said. Zhang Haiqi nodded. "Shifu, Xiazai met the person who saved him, but that person didn't remember Xiazai. Why is that?" Zhang Hailou asked. Zhang Haiqi fell silent. "There is a top-secret, classified document in the Archives. Only the head of the Archives is permitted to open it." Zhang Haiqi said.
"In that case, Xiazai, let's go." Zhang Hailou said. "You're the head of the Archives now, so you go. I still have to deal with this mountain of paperwork." Zhang Haixia said with a sigh. The documents were easy enough to understand, but piecing the information together was complex; in a week of work, they had only managed to open two suitcases.
"I'll be back soon." Zhang Hailou said as he left. In front of Zhang Haixia, he remained the younger brother who was always pampered, but around others, he was a madman ruthless and showing no mercy to anyone. Time changes people, and Zhang Haixia was no exception, even though he carried the heavy burden of his own past.
"Haixia" Zhang Haiqi said suddenly. "Yes, Shifu?" Zhang Haixia asked, puzzled. "Why do you think A Yuan doesn't remember you?" Zhang Haiqi asked. "I don't know." Zhang Haixia replied. "There is a possibility that, like the Patriarch, he possesses Tianshou." Zhang Haiqi said, leaving Zhang Haixia speechless.
If what Zhang Haiqi said was true, then Zhang Qingyuan would forget everyone when the time came. "That makes it highly likely that she was from the main branch before she lost her memory. I heard she uses the 'two-finger skill' to break bones and reset them" Zhang Haiqi said. Zhang Haixia nodded. "The 'two-fingered skill' is primarily destructive, yet it allows one to both shatter and reassemble things. The archives mention only one person capable of this, someone known as Fenghuang's Man." Zhang Haiqi said. Zhang Haixia fell silent.
°The Archives°
Zhang Hailou quickly made his way inside, navigating past various deadly traps. Upon entering, Zhang Hailou found A Yuan holding documents belonging to herself and Zhang Haixia, along with other necessary classified files. Zhang Qingyuan ran while dodging lethal traps, with Zhang Hailou following close behind at a different pace.
Zhang Qingyuan glanced at Zhang Hailou, who had arrived behind her. Before Zhang Hailou could make a move, Zhang Qingyuan said, "You show the way." Zhang Hailou paused briefly before leading her to their new home in Beijing.
°Zhang Hailou and Zhang Haixia's Home°
Zhang Haixia was startled to see Zhang Hailou bring Zhang Qingyuan along. "Why are you still here?" Zhang Hailou asked Zhang Haiqi. "Your two disciples sent a message: bring back a shiniang. No shiniang, no return." Zhang Haiqi said with a delighted smirk. Zhang Hailou nearly choked on the water he was drinking.
"Those two brats!" Zhang Hailou exclaimed in annoyance. "Is it really that hard? Just find them one." Zhang Qingyuan said, sitting in a chair without permission and opening the files belonging to Hailou and Zhang Haixia that were on the table. He silently scanned the data in both files and returned them to their envelopes in just five minutes.
"How was it so fast?" Zhang Hailou asked in disbelief. Zhang Haixia silently watched Zhang Qingyuan. "It's done." Zhang Qingyuan said, neatly setting aside their files before opening his own. Zhang Haixia, Zhang Hailou, and Zhang Haiqi gathered around.
The file simply stated that she bore a Fenghuang tattoo and that her blood attracted insects and ancient tomb creatures. It also noted that her blood possessed the ability to regenerate damaged cells and limbs. Reviving someone comes with long-term side effects, such as memory loss facts Zhang Qingyuan was already aware of.
"Stupid files," Zhang Qingyuan muttered, gazing up at the ceiling. "What are you looking for?" Zhang Haixia asked curiously. "Trying to recover your memories?" Zhang Haiqi asked. Zhang Qingyuan looked at Zhang Haiqi and nodded. "Why do you want to get your memories back?" Zhang Haiqi asked. "I feel like I lost something in the past, so I need to find it." Zhang Qingyuan replied.
"A person?" Zhang Hailou asked teasingly. Zhang Qingyuan shook her head. "An object. Anyway, keep up the good work for the Patriarch." Zhang Qingyuan said, patting Zhang Hailou on the shoulder.
"Are you heading down to the ancient tomb now?" Zhang Haixia asked, looking at Zhang Qingyuan. "No, I need to go out and catch some bugs." Zhang Qingyuan said as she stepped outside. A crowd had already gathered there. Zhang Haixia, Zhang Hailou, and Zhang Haiqi watched from the window.
Chains restrained Zhang Qingyuan's movements. "Should we help her?" Zhang Hailou asked. "Wait" Zhang Haiqi said. "Is this the extent of the Wang family's abilities? You disappoint me." Zhang Qingyuan said with a smirk. She manipulated the chains with her hands.
"How is this possible? You shouldn't be able to move!" one of the men exclaimed. The chains clashed together, knocking the men holding chain unconscious. Someone emerged from behind a wall. Zhang Qingyuan's arm was bleeding from the chains.
Creatures began to gather, drawn by the scent of Zhang Qingyuan's blood. "Before we uncover the Zhang family's secret to immortality, capturing you to serve as a supplement for us would be excellent." the man said. "Wang Yu" Zhang Qingyuan said, smirking.
The man was startled; his name was indeed Wang Yu. "How do you know that?" Wang Yu asked in shock. "If you can plant spies within the Mystic Nine, I can certainly plant spies within the Wang family." Zhang Qingyuan said with a wink.
Wang Yu attacked Zhang Qingyuan, but the blow was parried and followed by a counterattack. Wang Yu's arm snapped, and his scream was blood-curdling. "Tell your leader: don't make me angry. If I ever find your headquarters, I will wipe every last one of you out." Zhang Qingyuan said before turning back inside. Wang Yu roused his men and fled quickly.
°Zhang Hailou and Zhang Haixia's Home°
At the doorway, Zhang Qingyuan looked at Zhang Haixia, Zhang Hailou, and Zhang Haiqi, who were still standing by the window. "Have you seen enough? If you're done, pack up your things and move to my place. It’s not safe here anymore." Zhang Qingyuan said coldly.
Zhang Haixia and Zhang Hailou complied. "What about your wounds?" Zhang Haiqi asked with concern. "They've healed," Zhang Qingyuan said, looking at the wounds that were no longer bleeding. "If you're planning to go down into that ancient tomb, I'm coming with you." Zhang Haiqi said.
"I know, you want to return the favor because I once saved Zhang Haixia. I don't think it's necessary; even though I've lost my memory, I wouldn't help someone without a reason. I must have helped him to repay a debt myself." Zhang Qingyuan said casually. "Repay a debt?" Zhang Haixia asked, carrying his suitcase. Zhang Qingyuan nodded. "Why don't we remember that?" Zhang Hailou asked.
°Zhang Qingyuan's Residence°
"Pick your own rooms." Zhang Qingyuan said, heading to the kitchen after setting down three suitcases filled with files. Zhang Hailou pulled Zhang Haixia along to choose rooms on the second floor. "Where should I stay?" Zhang Haiqi asked. "Pick one yourself." Zhang Qingyuan said, drinking bottled water from the fridge. "Did you meet Fo Ye and Wu Lao Gou?" Zhang Haiqi asked. "I met them briefly. They both looked old. Still the same, yet different." Zhang Qingyuan said with a smile.
