Without even knocking or asking “May I come in?”, the door of Huacheng No. 1 Senior High School’s principal’s office was abruptly opened from the outside.
The door slammed the wall and the glass clattered several times.
The principal Xu Wanli was just about to sit down and read the newspaper. His right hand shook out of surprise, spilling most of his freshly-brewed tea on the table. The newspaper in front of him was doused with the hot tea and the ink streaked into an indecipherable mess. Xu Wanli looked at the black ink smudging the white paper, endlessly sighing in his heart.
There was only one person that came into mind that would disregard school rules and barge into the principal’s office in such a manner.
Xu Wanli raised his head to look at the door⸺Against the light, a young man gallantly and valiantly stood upright, his bearing filled with arrogance.
His hair was an eye-catching blonde. By rights, students couldn’t have this kind of hair colour but this student wilfully dyed his hair which left the principal, Xu Wanli, at a loss as to what to do.
The blonde-haired boy’s face was extremely beautiful, but it wasn’t the kind of beauty that would make people want to dote on him. Instead, it was sharp and intense, like a wildfire blazing to the sky.
He had a straight nose, expressive eyes, and eyebrows that were like swords, slanting towards his temples. When he spoke, his snaggle-tooth could be indistinctly seen, making it hard for others to look away. His skin was a healthy honey colour, his body brimming with unbridled energy.
“Bal— I mean, Principal Xu!” The boy spoke, his voice clear and sonorous, “I have good news for you!”
“What good news?” Xu Wanli obligingly asked.
“Here, this one!” The boy beckoned.
In an instant, around three or four young and vigorous male betas swarmed up behind him and threw a tied-up beta. The man seemed to be in his early twenties. His face was covered with pockmarks, his hair was greasy and his appearance was extremely unsightly.
Strangely, however, the man was wearing the same school uniform as them! It was just that his clothes were old and loose; it didn’t fit him well. It seemed like a second-hand school uniform that he had bought at a whim.
Xu Wanli sized up the man several times and his brows furrowed.
“Who are you?” Xu Wanli bluntly asked, “As far as I know, our school doesn’t have such an old repeater like you.”
The wretched man who was in school attire hemmed and hawed, unable to say a word. His panic-stricken eyes darted around in distress.
“Principal, do you still need to ask this?” The blond boy saw him hemming and hawing without telling the truth so he directly spoke for him, “During the past two weeks, a lot of wallets that students had kept in their classrooms had been stolen, hadn’t it? Today, this fella wanted to use the opportunity during our PE class to sneak into our class and commit a crime. He didn’t expect that I, this grandpa, was catching up on my sleep and was caught red-handed by me!”
What happened afterwards need not be said. This young man who called himself ‘grandpa’ had a fiery and stubborn character. When this kind of creep sent himself to his doorstep, how could he not sort him out?
He sprang to his feet and dealt with him swiftly and decisively. He beat the thief until he was lying sprawled on his back, his face a riot of colours, out of his senses and nearly dead. After throwing out a series of punching combos, he managed to effortlessly capture the fellow.
“Oh.” Xu Wanli nodded his head and repeat the events of the thief’s crime, “This thief used the opportunity during your PE class to sneak into your room, wanting to steal things. As a result, he happened to run into you who was sleeping inside the classroom.”
“That’s right!” The boy proudly nodded in affirmation.
“So⸺” Xu Wanli responded with a question, “Jeon Jungkook, why were you skipping PE class?”
Jeon Jungkook: “……”
When confronted with the principal’s attack that hit him straight in the soul, the young man called Jeon Jungkook didn’t even stammer. He merely feigned shyness and bashfulness as he said, “Principal, my estrus (Heat) had come and my body isn’t feeling well.”
Xu Wanli wasn’t deceived by him, “You’re not feeling well because of your estrus? Why is it that other students would request for absence during their estrus to rest at home while you can beat a beta until he’s black and blue?”
Jungkook: “I’m genetically different!”
Xu Wanli: “I think you’re genetically abnormal.”
Jungkook: “……”
The boy was speechless.
He was indeed lying. His next estrus was still months away. However, he skipped class just because he wanted to. How could there be a reason! Also, should the focus of this matter be him skipping class? The focus should obviously be on him catching the thief!
He somewhat indignantly glared with his bright eyes. Since he had caught a thief using a series of punching combos, his hair was slightly drenched in sweat and his face still flushed due to his zeal. However, he had a darker complexion so the faint trace of red on his cheek was completely hidden by his wheat-coloured skin.
Although Jeon Jungkook was speechless, the group of lil’ brothers beside him were very quick-witted. They rushed forward and started babbling like a group of parrots.
“Principal, our Jeon ge’s body is really unwell today.”
“That’s right. He went downtown last weekend for a competition. He swam a relay and an individual event so he’s really tired!”
“The coach also said that on that day, the swimming pool’s water was colder than normal. The venue’s air conditioner was set too low so Jeon ge had a slight fever!”
“His fever had gone down yesterday but his nose was still stuffy today!”
“Jeon ge, he……”
“Jeon ge……”
“Jeon……”
Xu Wanli was annoyed by the noisy group of parrots so he immediately called the security guard and asked him to hand over the thief to the police station. As for Jeon Jungkook…
“Speak, what reward do you want?” Xu Wanli was still fair about this.
Huacheng No. 1 Senior High School was a school that had a liberal ethos. If a student made a contribution, they could confidently ask the school for a reward. The rewards that students wanted most were ‘Allow Late Arrival 10x card’, ‘One Week Exemption from Doing Homework card’, ‘One Month Exemption from Wearing School Uniform card’, ‘Priority from Getting Food at the Canteen card’ and so on.
Jeon Jungkook responded straightaway, “Principal, I want an ‘Exception from Attending An Elective Subject card’!”
Xu Wanli jested, “You don’t want to attend PE class that badly?”
“Not the PE class,” Jungkook brazenly said, “I don’t want to attend the 《National Health Education Course》.”
Xu Wanli: “……”
The 《National Health Education Course》 was an elective subject in name only. Its’ examination results wouldn’t be taken into account during college admission but in fact, the Bureau of Education and the Bureau of Health had jointly introduced this subject. All children must attend ten classes after differentiating.
Generally speaking, the vast majority of people would completely differentiate around the age of twelve, but there was also an extremely small number of people whose differentiation would be delayed until the age of fifteen.
Unfortunately, Jeon Jungkook was one of those “extremely small number of people”⸺ He didn’t differentiate until the summer vacation before he entered senior high school. If he wanted to take the physical health subject, he could only go to the affiliated junior high school next to his school and take the subject together with the freshmen kids.
Jeon Jungkook placed a great deal of importance on his reputation. Let him, this ‘No. 1 School Tyrant’, go to a junior high school to attend class? That’s absolutely impossible!
“Too bad, you’d have to challenge the impossible now.” Xu Wanli raised the cup of half-spilled tea to his mouth and leisurely blew on it, “Every citizen must attend this subject after differentiating. Even if you seek out the Education Bureau’s leader, you would still have to attend it.”
Jeon Jungkook: “……”
F*ck, I did a good deed for nothing. So angry!
The young man who was fuming with anger turned around and left. When his group of lil’ brothers saw him leave, their mouths called out ‘Jeon ge’ ‘Jeon ge’ and hastily chased after him.
The boy openly displayed his willful character. Like a hurricane, he came with a clattering slam and left with a rattling bang.
⸺ Calling him unreasonable would be quite apt, calling him amusing would also be quite apt.
After they left, the originally lively and noisy principal’s office instantly became empty.
Xu Wanli unhurriedly got up, walked towards his vacuum flask while holding his huge cup and poured hot water into the cup.
A creak was heard as the inner room’s door suddenly opened.
As it turned out, the principal’s office was actually separated into two, an inner room and an outer room. The outer room was for receiving guests while the inner room was where the principal handled official work.
When Jeon Jungkook and his lil’ brothers were making a disturbance, they had always been in the outer room. The inner room’s door had been closed all this while and Jungkook didn’t even spare a glance towards that room.
Naturally, he didn’t know that there happened to be a young visitor inside the inner room who had listened to their conversation through the door that was separating them.
It wasn’t until Jeon Jungkook energetically left that the visitor left the inner room and looked at the direction where Jungkook was heading.
“Principal Xu, the junior just now was……?”
The young man was extremely tall, nearly 1.9 metres in height. The sports uniform that was shunned by countless students was tidily worn by him. The jacket had been zipped right to the top. Even the easily dirtied shirt’s cuff and pants’ hem were white and clean, untainted by even a speck of dust. He stood tall like a tree with his back as straight as a ramrod. His phoenix eyes had a sharp inner corner and a light slant upward at the outer corner. He obviously had alluring eyes, but he looked at others with indifference.
Just by looking at his appearance, one could already tell that he was definitely a first-rate alpha.
Xu Wanli looked at this favourite student and replied, “Taehyung, you’ve been on an exchange programme overseas for a year so you must have not heard of his name. That was Jeon Jungkook, he entered our school last year. He’s in second year this year.”
“Jeon Jungkook?” The young man called Kim Taehyung lowered his head in thought, “No, I’ve heard of him.”
Kim Taehyung obtained one of the few quotas for the government-funded exchange programme in his second year of senior high school. He returned in his third year to prepare for the upcoming college entrance examination. Today was the first day that he returned and he had a lot of formalities to deal with. When he went to his classroom to get his textbooks, he heard the name of this legendary junior from his classmates.
Huacheng No. 1 Senior High School was a paradise for top students but Jeon Jungkook was an odd one out. He was specially admitted into the city’s best senior high school through his athletic talent. Within a month of entering the school, he relied on his fists to subdue his group of loyal lil’ brothers and bestowed himself the titles ‘School Tyrant’ and ‘Leader’. Even the teachers were helpless against him.
However…
“⸺He’s actually an omega?” When he was in the inner room, Taehyung thought that he had misheard it, but he truly heard Jeon Jungkook say the word ‘estrus’. There were three genders in an ABO world and only omegas had the estrus period.
How could he be an omega?
Kim Taehyung was utterly surprised. That renowned tyrant who had the momentum of a tsunami in the swimming pool was actually an omega? It had to be known that sports competitions like swimming or track and field had always been the alphas’ world. Most omegas would focus on sports like rhythmic gymnastics and figure skating.
“So what if he’s an omega? You know, everyone who underestimated him because of his gender had been taught a lesson.” Xu Wanli beamingly drank a mouthful of tea and pointed at the trophy display rack that occupied a whole side of the room behind him.
The trophy display rack had always been in Huacheng No. 1 Senior High School’s reception room, proudly exhibited for the visitors to see.
The principal who had a receding hairline proudly boasted, “Taehyung, do you see that? The trophies on the first row had all been obtained by you. However, all the trophies on the second and third row had all been won by Jeon Jungkook.”
...****************...
I hope you guys will enjoy this novel as much as I did! Also, pls note that the name Jungkook in Jeon Jungkook means orange as in 🍊 in this novel.
“Jeon ge, I heard that you caught the thief all by yourself?”
“Jeon ge, is the thief an alpha or a beta?”
“Is there any difference between an alpha and a beta for our Jeon ge? They would still suffer defeat at the hands of Jeon ge!”
“The Sports Committee member from the neighbouring class had talked big last time, claiming that he would definitely catch the thief within three days. I just went to have a look and saw that his face was livid with anger!”
“Our Jeon ge is strong so he can deal with that kind of scoundrel with just two or three strikes!”
The whole class enthusiastically flattered and praised Jeon ge.
Jeon Jungkook enjoyed it tremendously. The grievances he had suffered from the principal were instantly thrown to the back of his mind.
He who won the hearts of the people would win the throne. Look at him. He, Jeon Jungkook had so many people under his rule!
Jungkook’s seat was in the last row of the classroom. Their classroom had a lot of space thus the seats weren’t close to the wall and there was a few square metres of empty space behind Jungkook. The school had left this empty space for the students to set up a reading corner, clothes rack, shelves, and student announcements. Now, however, this empty space had become Jungkook’s own back garden. His sports shoes and sports bag had been thrown at a corner. His dumbbells, protein powder and so on were all over the space.
And now, there was suddenly a new addition to his pile of things — a huge bouquet and several boxes of snacks.
The Logistics Department’s security guard had pushed a cart with a clatter and brought these things over, saying that someone had delivered it to the school gate and had asked to give it to Jeon Jungkook.
A mere glance at these things made Jungkook retch in disgust. He could guess who had sent them even by just thinking with his toes.
He asked his lil’ brother to open up the boxes of snacks which were filled with biscuits and all kinds of candies. The packaging was bright and colourful. It could be seen with just a glance that they were snacks that omegas liked the most. Jungkook could feel his blood sugar level rising rapidly by just looking at it.
As for the bouquet, a handwritten card had been wedged between the flowers. The handwriting was aggressive and the characters were all over the place, like a huge dismemberment scene.
Jungkook’s eyes twitched and he tossed the card to one of his lil’ brothers, “Read.”
The lil’ brother respectfully read it out loudly, “Lil’ Orange, be my boyfriend! I will wait for you at the school gate tonight~ [heart][heart][smile][heart]”
Jungkook got goosebumps all over his body, “Throw! Throw it away!”
Lil’ brother: “Okay!”
The lil’ brother swiftly tore the corny love letter. At the bottom of the letter where the signature was, two words that had been written closely together had escaped the fate of being torn to shreds. It was ‘Wei Rong’.
The surrounding people weren’t surprised and no one took the love letter seriously.
It should be known that Jungkook was very influential in five schools that were within a radius of five kilometres. The only time that he suffered a setback was with Wei Rong, this dunce.
Wei Rong was studying at a sports school that was three blocks away from Huacheng No.1 Senior High School. Before Jungkook appeared, Wei Rong had been the area’s kingpin. He could eat anything he wanted in the food street without paying a single cent.
However, when Jungkook entered senior high school, this pretty-faced lil’ tyrant speedily seized control of the surrounding schools that was a part of Wei Rong’s turf.
Out of humiliation, Wei Rong flew into a rage and issued a fight challenge to Jungkook. On a moonless and windy night, the two brought twenty of their underlings and met in People’s Square to have a fight for supremacy.
For this battle of the century, Wei Rong had prepared several bricks. However, when he first caught sight of Jungkook, his heart instantly sped up to 180kmh. Then, it fell into the enemy’s hands.
Wei Rong’s face flushed with anger as he asked his lil’ brothers, “Why has no one ever told me that Jeon Jungkook is an omega? And that he’s this good-looking?”
He looked at Jungkook again and coyly stammered, “I… I’m a man of principle. I’m an alpha so I don’t hit omegas!”
Jungkook smilingly asked, “Oh? Is that so?”
Then, Jungkook wordlessly gave him a swift kick directly to his chest.
The alpha who underestimated the enemy was caught off guard so he was kicked to the ground.
Jungkook stepped on Wei Rong’s chest, condescendingly looked down at him and sneeringly repeated, “You don’t hit omegas? But this omega will hit you!”
The two sides fought one another.
In the end, Jungkook had an overwhelming victory.
Describing it as an ‘overwhelming victory’ was not entirely correct because from start to finish, Wei Rong did not fight back. He merely stared at Jungkook with a nauseating and creepy gaze.
Frightened by his gaze, Jungkook was riddled with nightmares for several days.
From that day onwards, Jungkook would receive a love letter from Wei Rong every few days, each new letter more direct than the previous one.
To this, Jungkook had only one answer — “Bah! Stay away from Laozi! (Master)”
Jungkook didn’t touch even one of the snacks that were sent by Wei Rong. He asked his people to share the snacks to the students in his class. As there were too many, several neighbouring classrooms also benefited and they received a lot of potato chips and chocolates.
As for the bouquet, the class monitor took the approach of making good use of waste materials. He gave it to the class teacher and said that it was a token of appreciation from the whole class.
The class teacher was only surprised and wasn’t delighted, immediately sneezing after holding the bunch of roses. That night, the class teacher gave them two more math papers to complete.
After a intense day of classes, Kim Taehyung bid goodbye to his classmates, packed his school bag and walked out of the classroom.
Kim Taehyung had been popular in his school before he went abroad. He previously thought that his classmates would feel estranged from him after not seeing each other for a year. However, after returning, his classmates’ gazes towards him had become all the more enthusiastic..
However, despite their enthusiasm, Taehyung remained as indifferent as before, opting to distance himself from the crowd.
Huacheng No.1 Senior High School was a boarding school. Only a small minority of students who had special circumstances were allowed to stay outside. However, this wasn’t a problem for Taehyung. When he wanted to live outside, the class teacher approved his application without further ado, allowing him to return back home every day.
Not many students had this privilege. Every day, the school gate would be deserted after classes.
Taehyung didn’t expect that he would see an ‘interesting show’ as soon as he stepped out of the school gate.
—— “Hey, bookworm! Where the fuck did the potato chips in your hands come from?!”
A grumpy voice sounded. Taehyung followed the sound of the voice only to see that in an alley outside the school gate, a youth who was dressed like a hooligan was cornering a spectacled boy who was wearing a school uniform.
The spectacled boy wasn’t actually short, but he had a slightly hunched posture. He was as thin as a rack, wearing a school uniform that was as loose as a burlap bag. He looked extremely listless. He was wearing thick glasses, his bowl-cut hair covered his forehead and his whole body gave off the aura of a ‘bookworm’.
“Po…potato chips?” The bookworm cowered in fright, tightly held the potato chips in his arms and stammeringly said, “It was given by a student from the neighbouring classroom.”
The hooligan had dyed his hair red, like a rooster. When he spoke, it seemed like he was crowing, “Who’s the student from your neighbouring classroom?” He asked, “Did Jeon Jungkook give it to you?”
“N-no!” The bookworm was terrified. He stepped back, pressing himself against the wall and shook his head in response, “I know Jeon Jungkook, but he doesn’t know me. Why would he give me potato chips?”
“Nonsense! Laozi had asked someone to bring this potato chip back from overseas. It can’t be bought online! I just fucking sent it this morning and this evening, you brought it out. If Jungkook didn’t give it to you, then you must have fucking stolen it!” The red-haired hooligan managed to accurately insert a profanity into every sentence that he spoke.
He spoke extremely fast, like a profanity-thrower. Swear words reverberated in the alley like a song that wouldn’t stop playing in people’s head.
Faced with his question, the bookworm actually pushed down his glasses and blankly answered, “This student, your logic is flawed. Either-or can only be used in a black-and-white issue. However, this potato chips being given to me by Jungkook and me stealing Jungkook’s potato chips, these two situations, can’t form a complete two-layer chain of reasoning. You deliberately overlooked other possibilities. For example, there might be two of this potato chip that looks exactly the same. The one I have now just happened to be the same as Jungkook’s potato chip. Another possibility is that Jungkook didn’t like the potato chips you sent so he gave it to someone else and that someone gave it to me.”
It was obvious that he was frightened until his legs were trembling, but with his one-track mind, he insisted on clearly explaining why the hooligan’s logic was flawed.
The outcome was that the red-haired hooligan was shamed into anger and raised his hand to heavily shove the bookworm.
With a thud, the back of the bookworm’s head bumped into the wall and he grunted in pain. His whole body was aching so much that he curled up his body. It seemed like he hit himself hard.
Seeing that the situation was worsening, Taehyung was unable to stand by and watch.
He immediately shouted, “Stop.”
His tone was ice-cold and his voice was not loud, but it was enough to shock them.
It caught the red-haired hooligan’s attention so he turned his head to look over. When he saw the tall and lean Taehyung, he was frightened at first but when he saw the school uniform he was wearing, his worry instantly dissipated.
He spoke with ridicule, “Oh, here comes another weak bookworm.”
Taehyung didn’t pay any heed to his childish provocation. He walked over and stood in front of the student who was being bullied, whispering, “You leave first.”
The bookworm hastily nodded, picked up the schoolbag that had fallen to the ground and turned around wanting to escape.
“Did anyone let you leave?!” The hooligan grabbed the bookworm’s schoolbag’s strap, “Laozi hasn’t finished asking you and yet you dare to leave?!”
While he was threatening the bookworm, he unscrupulously released his body’s pheromones —— He was an alpha, and at this moment, he was using his pheromone to force the other person to submit.
Sure enough, as he had expected, the weak bookworm couldn’t resist the onslaught of his pheromones. The bookworm’s legs became weak and his eyes became dazed.
The hooligan initially thought that the busybody Taehyung would also cower under the attack of his pheromones but Taehyung didn’t even move an inch. The next second, an extremely oppressive pheromone spread through the air and swept across the furious hooligan.
He was left incapable of breaking free, powerless to resist, and unable to evade.
Kim Taehyung’s pheromone was the same as his temperament. It was an extremely cold scent, like a desolate pine in a snowfield that spanned thousands of miles, loftily braving through the cold winds.
However, Taehyung rarely released his pheromone. If the hooligan hadn’t provoked him, Taehyung would not use this method to attack him.
The hooligan was unable to stop himself from shaking.
He was so angered that his eyes seemed to pop out and cold sweat was dripping on his back like a river. He forced out a few words through his gritted teeth, “You… Why are you being a busybody?
Taehyung indifferently replied, “I’m not being a busybody.”
As someone from Huacheng No.1 Senior High School, it was only natural that he couldn’t stand by and watch his junior being bullied.
However, the hooligan understood his intentions wrongly.
“I know!” The hooligan gritted his teeth as his legs trembled. It was clear that he couldn’t stand straight under the oppression of Taehyung’s pheromone, but he still raised his weakly clenched fist and threw a punch, “Are you having an affair with Jeon Jungkook?!!!!”
Taehyung: “……”
Taehyung moved sideways to evade his attack and said in a low voice, “I think your logic is truly too flawed.”
...****************...
The author has something to say: Here’s a piece of advice. Don’t try to argue with a top student, you can’t win an argument with them!
The next morning, Jungkook was late again.
When he arrived, the first class was already halfway over and the teacher was writing swiftly on the blackboard.
When other students were late, they would carefully and cautiously sneak through the back door while the teacher wasn’t looking. However, Jungkook heedlessly walked through the front door. The teacher couldn’t do anything about him so following the old adage that ‘what is out of sight is out of mind’, he was asked to immediately go to his seat.
Jungkook had hardly warmed up his seat when his beta lil’ brothers sitting in front of him turned their heads and looked at him with reverence.
He was frightened by their burning gaze so he asked, “What are you guys doing?”
Lil’ brother A grinned and gave him a thumbs-up, “Jeon ge, you’re fucking amazing!”
Jungkook: ???
Jungkook feigned calmness as he questioned, “Tell me, what exactly am I amazing at?”
Lil’ brother B replied, “Don’t be humble. Last night’s incident had already been widely spread throughout the whole school!”
Jungkook was inwardly baffled. What did he do last night? He had been so worn out after last night’s training that he fell asleep as soon as he lay on the bed. He didn’t even have time to do the daily quests in his game.
Before he could continue asking, lil’ brother C already spoke of his heroic deed.
“Someone ran into Wei Rong in the hospital last night! His face was badly bruised and he had his arm in a sling as he walked with a limp!”
Lil’ brother C beamed with joy, using his critical thinking to deduce the truth of the matter, “Jeon ge must have done it! That guy is a toad wishing to eat swan meat. You’ve long regarded him as an eyesore! He wanted to meet you at the school gate last night so you went to confront him by yourself. You beat him so hard until he’s prostrating himself in admiration and crying out in hunger. Then, you gave him the final blow! You beat him into a pulp for him to never harass you again, right?”
Jungkook: “……”
Jungkook: ???
Jungkook awkwardly cleared his throat, intending to clarify, but when he saw the look of adoration on his lil’ brothers faces, the words that were about to spill out of his mouth slipped back in.
He nonchalantly waved his hand, “Alright, cut it out. Do I still need you to publicise such a trivial matter?”
Lil’ brother C clicked his tongue, “He’s an alpha!”
Jungkook was indifferent, “So what if he’s an alpha? For Wei Rong, this kind of trash, I only need to use one hand to knock him down.”
“Jeon ge is truly outstanding!”
“Alright, quiet down. It’s self-study time.” Jungkook was impatient but pleased, “Oh, right. It seems like you’ve recently made quick progress in Chinese. The idioms you used are pretty good.”
Jungkook had never listened in class. He lay on his desk as he pondered the whole morning. However, he was unable to figure out who was the kind person who beat Wei Rong into a pulp.
But it didn’t matter. Jungkook had long been fed up with Wei Rong. With someone enforcing justice according to heaven’s will, Jungkook was only too glad to be rid of him.
He hoped that Wei Rong could remain well-behaved for a while and stop disturbing him this time around.
……
At this time, in the third years’ academic building.
Kim Taehyung opened his exercise book and was just about to start answering when he overheard a girl in his class sharing gossip.
“Have you seen the campus forum?” The girl exclaimed, “Last night at the school gate, Jeon Jungkook, that really famous omega second-year student, beat the alpha who was wooing him into a pulp!”
Taehyung: “……”
Taehyung: ???
Who? Who did?
……
Students had heavy schoolwork in senior high school. Hence, the time slots for music, arts and physical education, this three electives, were highly contested by all the teachers teaching core subjects.
Every Monday, the teachers teaching core subjects would crowd in front of the school timetable and pretentiously say, “Oh, the timetable! Let’s see which lucky elective teacher had fallen sick this week.”
It was only the second year’s Class 13⸺which is Jungkook’s class⸺whose elective teachers had never ‘fallen sick’.
They had no choice. Who let Jungkook be the school tyrant? He would go on a violent rampage if things didn’t go the way he wanted to. Who would dare deprive him of music, arts and P.E.?
Backed by his presence, the Class 13 students had three elective subjects every week.
It was Wednesday and they had an art class in the afternoon.
The arts teacher, Qiu Xian, was an omega. She was in the eighth month of her pregnancy so her body was delicate and weak. She couldn’t work for long periods of time. Therefore, the past several weeks, she had only taught them how to draw stationary objects⸺merely placing several vases, jars, apples and bananas on the table. Each student had a brush and a drawing paper so that they could be well-behaved during the whole class.
She was aware that this group of children didn’t come to the art class to learn how to draw, but to chill, chat around, play with their phones and quietly talk about relationships. Thus, every time she went to class, she would turn a blind eye. As long as they didn’t make the classroom a mess, they could do whatever they wanted.
Qiu Xian set up her canvas in the corner of the studio and quietly painted.
Not long after, a pair of sparkling eyes appeared on her canvas.
“Teacher Qiu!” Jungkook, whose blond hair was like that of a lion, grinned cheekily and asked, “Can we discuss something? Every class, everyone has to draw those rotten apples and bananas. Everyone’s gotten sick and tired of drawing them.”
Qiu Xian asked him: “If you don’t draw unmoving objects, then what should you guys draw?”
Jungkook suggested, “Draw a person!”
Qiu Xian mulled it over and agreed, “Fair enough. There are still a few statues in the cabinet. You can take them out…”
“No no no. What I meant is⸺” Jungkook pointed at himself, “⸺Draw a ‘person’, a living person.”
It was only then that Qiu Xian realised what he wanted to do. She laughed, “You want to be the model? Let everyone draw you?” The brat was rather too narcissistic. “You can’t move an inch while modeling. Can you sit still?”
“Why can’t I?” Jungkook raised his brows, “Don’t underestimate me!”
As such, the class task of second year’s Class 13 changed from vases, jars, apples and bananas to a living person.
Jungkook sat on a chair in the middle of the class, casually crossed his legs and folded his arms, assumed a handsome and confident appearance, and then told his classmates, “Come on, draw me!”
He didn’t ask his classmates if they were willing to sketch him or not. He was a school tyrant so his opinion was everyone’s opinion.
Hence, the students looked helplessly at each other, picked up their brush, and struggled to draw Jungkook on their papers.
However, they weren’t good at arts. Their drawings of still objects were already warped so how could they have the ability to draw a person?
When Jungkook got tired of sitting still, he paced around the class with his hands clasped behind his back to inspect and saw ugly, weirdly-shaped drawings of him.
Jungkook: “……”
Jungkook thought, Could it be that I have a misconception of my own appearance? But I remember that the person I saw in the mirror was neither cross-eyed nor did he have a bulbous nose. And with such a square face, are they drawing me or SpongeBob?
Unfortunately, his beta lil’ brothers held their abstract portraits and ingratiatingly asked for his comments, “Jeon ge, what do you think?”
Jeon ge thinks that it really is not up to much.
Before Jungkook got angry, Qiu Xian caught him and reprimanded, “How could there be a model like you? Slipping away after persisting for only a couple of minutes?”
Jungkook didn’t dare to quarrel with the pregnant arts teacher so he softly muttered, “Who could persist sitting motionless for so long?”
Qiu Xian smilingly answered, “There are people who can.”
After saying that, she turned around and took out a stack of drawing papers from the cabinet and handed it to him, “These quick sketches had been drawn by the third year’s Class 1 students.
Jungkook was astonished, “Students can still take art classes in their third year?”
Qiu Xian quipped, “School tyrants are privileged so naturally, top students are also privileged.”
School tyrant: “……”
Jungkook inwardly cursed as he took the sketches and looked at it.
The sketches were of the same person.
⸺A young man was sitting by the window. The sleeves of his shirt had been rolled up to his elbow and he had a book in his hand. He was reading intently. The cold breeze fluttered his hair but it failed to catch his attention.
The top students were people of many talents so they could accurately sketch portraits. The student’s features had been carefully drawn with a pencil. His eyes, his lips, his sharp jawline, his Adam’s apple, and his slender fingers…
Jungkook looked through the sketches. When combined together, they thoroughly conveyed his beauty.
At that moment, Jungkook’s heart seemed to have been hit by something. It felt heavy and yet light.
He cleared his throat and asked, “Teacher Qiu, who is he?”
Qiu Xian was surprised, “Huh? You don’t know him?”
Her words didn’t bode well with him so he snorted, “Tch. Should I know him? Why didn’t he come to get to know me?”
Qiu Xian smiled, “He is Kim Taehyung, a third-year student who is an outstanding figure in our school. He went to study abroad during your first year and only came back this semester.”
Jungkook thought, An outstanding figure? How outstanding could he be? Could he be more outstanding than me?
He vaguely remembered that there were many trophies on the trophy display rack in the principal’s office. The trophies on the uppermost row seemed to have the name ‘Kim Taehyung’ written on it.
Jungkook had previously disturbed Principal Xu about this matter and asked, “Who’s that Kim Taehyung? I have more trophies than him. Why aren’t you displaying my trophies on the first row? Why is he above me?”
What did Xu Wanli reply at that time? Oh, right.
Xu Wanli seemed to have said, “He’s your senior. Seniors should be above juniors.”
Phooey! That garbage senior, does he deserve to be above me?
As he recalled this, Jungkook stared at the thick stack of portrait sketches. The more he looked at it, the more he felt displeased. As for his erratic heartbeat just a moment ago, he only regarded it as an illusion.
……
After school, Qiu Xian cradled her bulging belly and struggled to clean the art classroom.
Nowadays, more and more omega were opting for artificial wombs, nurturing new lives in the device through science and technology. Omegas who, like her, insist on giving birth to her baby were absolutely rare.
She felt that it was a rare experience. By carrying the child in her womb for ten months, the baby could be more intimate with her. It was just that pregnancy had too many inconveniences.
Just like now. It was very difficult for her to stoop down and lift the statues from the floor.
“Teacher Qiu, sit back and have a rest. I’ll do it.” A man’s voice sounded.
Kim Taehyung walked with quick steps into the classroom. He first supported Qiu Xian to have a seat and then helped her move the statues into the cabinet.
After sitting down, Qiu Xian massaged her sore legs and said with a sigh, “Student Kim, thank you for helping me.”
Taehyung said, “It’s something I should do. In fact, I want to thank you for letting me use the art classroom to paint.”
Apart from Qiu Xian, nearly no one knew that Taehyung was extremely talented in painting.
At the beginning, he just wanted to find a quiet place to study. The art classroom had tables and chairs and it was rare for students to come over, making it the best rest area.
By chance, he picked up the paintbrush as a result of Qiu Xian’s encouragement⸺Qiu Xian was amazed to discover that Taehyung had an inherent talent in perceiving colours.
He could play around with shading and could easily grasp the principles of colouring.
He never needed to ask himself ‘how should I draw this’. As soon as he started to draw, it would always be beautiful imagery.
Qiu Xian cherished his talent and taught him everything she could.
At the same time, however, for an alpha like Kim Taehyung, his future had already been decided. He would win more trophies from academic competitions, enter a top university and research about the most advanced and latest technologies. For him, painting would forever be a mere hobby that uplifts his spirit.
Taehyung didn’t know what Teacher Qiu was thinking about. He had always been reticent. After quietly cleaning the classroom, he took his easel out of the corner of the room.
A painting would usually take a long time to do. Thus, every day, he would come to draw for a while after class. He had just finished a piece a few days ago and had entrusted Qiu Xian to deliver to it a gallery for consignment.
He set up the easel, arranged the frame and began sketching the outline.
Qiu Xian asked him, “What are you gonna paint?”
Taehyung replied, “A sun setting over the sports field.”
Qiu Xian: “Are you still opposed to painting portraits?”
He had never painted portraits except for painting using statues as reference. This was completely strange.
Taehyung evaded the question by asking a question, “Teacher, why are you bringing up this matter again?”
Qiu Xian said, “I’ve marked the portrait assignment of your class a few days ago. Your class deserves to be called top students. They generally drew well, but I still wanted to see your drawing of yourself.”
Taehyung helplessly responded, “I am not that narcissistic.”
When he mentioned narcissism, Qiu Xian smilingly mentioned, “Speaking of which, a class of second-year students also did a quick sketch today. The model is Jeon Jungkook. You must have heard of him? He insisted on letting all his classmates draw him and was dissatisfied when they drew him ugly.”
Taehyung thought, Am I being haunted by Jeon Jungkook? Why am I hearing this name everywhere I go?
“I’ve heard of him.” It’s just that I’ve never seen him. Somewhat curious about the school tyrant’s appearance, Taehyung asked, “Can I see their class task?”
Qiu Xian readily agreed.
She got up and took the drawings of Class 2-13 from the shelf and handed it to him.
Taehyung looked down at the drawing papers.
⸺In the first sketch, Jungkook had bell-like eyes, big protruding ears, scallion-like brows, a peculiar face shape, fiercely-bared teeth and thick, bushy hair.
Taehyung: “……”
Taehyung thought, This school tyrant looks rather unconventional.

Taehyung: Ahem. If you prefer that position, I wouldn’t mind. (ノ▽〃)
