As I stare at the window I ask myself why am I in this carriage. Was it the proposal, curiosty or— no it’s to atone for what I’ve done. I whisper in a low voice “ Will you be the one to devour me or will I devour you.” I take out a small mirror from my pocket and stare at myself. “I’m glad I changed my look or else I would attract more attention than necessary.” I see a young girl with black hair and emerald eyes. I think of the name I should use and decide on Iris. “I’ll think of a last name later.” As I tell myself that I fell the carriage make a stop. I see how the bridge descends and the gate appears. “Eh to be expected” I whisper. “Well it’s about time I started school” I tell my wonderful pet. I would’ve never come if they had said you couldn’t Ether. Ether is my long time friend who I had adopted a few months ago. He had crossed my path with a few injuries. I couldn’t help and ignore his white fur and his blue eye and golden eye. I then realized it looked like he had a sort of moon shape on his blue eye. I patched him up and soon enough he took a liking to me. “Ether remember you must never follow any strangers here and tell me if anyone tries to touch you.” Although Ether was a cat he was quite intelligent for one. The carriage stopped once more and I realized we had finally arrived.

I headed to the principal’s office with Ether. I carried Ether in my arms since he didn’t want to leave. I knocked on the door four times as I was directed to do by a letter I had been sent previously. To my astonishment a young child was awaiting in a comfortable chair that looked to be a throne. It was covered in flowers and vines but that didn’t matter to me. The child looked at me and I looked back at him. I introduced myself but the child did not respond. I believed that I had stepped in the wrong room so as I turned around the child grabbed my clothes and I fell in the ground. “That child is surprisingly strong” I thought. The child then spoke and said, “ Welcome to the academy where one like you will not be able to come out alive.” He smiled and I smiled awkwardly. “Was he messing with me” I thought but didn’t dare say. He said, “ I just wanted to remind you that you’re here for a reason and don’t ask to many question for remember curiousty killed a cat.” He then looked at Ether which Ether then hissed at him. “I apologize Ether didn’t mean wrong” I nervously said. He didn’t mind and I immediately found myself in a room. It looked to be my dorm and that’s how my first day was. I slept that day not trying to worry about the next day because I was sure that tomorrow would be worse. I said goodnight to Ether and made sure to lock the room.

I woke up to the sound of Ether scratching at the window. To my surprise it looked to be an egg. It didn’t seem to be a bird’s egg. Once I reached for it a symbol appeared. It looked to be ancient language which I was able to translate to ‘The stars have aligned.’ I felt connected to this phrase but was soon was interrupted by a knock at the door. I quickly hid the egg under my egg and made sure to place it in a cardboard box and a blanket. I opened the door but to my surprise it looked to be a small girl with blue eyes and brown hair. She looked to be my age but was quite small. She looked at me and told me “I’m here to advise you to come and choose classes tommorow. You should head to the main office and fill out a sheet. That is all,” she said in a sad tone and calm voice. She looked like she was ready to leave at any time but she wanted to tell me something. Perhaps I should’ve asked but thanked her instead. She left in a rush and I went back inside. I decided to explore the school a bit since school had still not started. I decided to follow the wind but unfortunately didn’t last long. I ended up being surrounding by trees from left to right. I wondered where I was and had left Ether in my room. I was worried Ether would wander around and get lost but here I am in that situation. I tried to find my way back but to no avail. That’s when a cold breeze blew toward the opposite side of me which I followed. I found myself in a small garden and what I believed to be a building which was named stellar building. I had not been in this place long enough to know what was inside. I decided to step in and saw a woman at the entrance. She looked to be 34 with gray hair and black eyes, the air around her seemed to be depressing. She looked at me and pointed towards another door. I followed the direction and in small letters ‘main office was written’. I found it surprising to get here unintentionally but maybe it was fate. I thought that I might as well get the sheet of paper now. There was another woman inside that had black hair and brown eyes she smiled warmly at me but I could tell that she had other intentions. She seemed to observe me as I walked towards her and she asked me “What has brought you her,” still smiling at me. I told her, “I would like to collect a paper to chose my classes.” She looked at me concerly and more cautious than before. She said, “What reason had brought you here.” I responded, “A girl came to my dorm and told me I must come here in order to choose my clssses.” She said smiling again, “Of course.” She handed me the sheet and as she did I could feel like she was checking what I felt that moment even though it was for a second that our eyes meet each other. I felt like she knew exactly what I felt. As I walked out I saw that the dorm buildings appeared. I was shocked and a message appeared before me. It read, “Welcome to Crocus Academy.” And that’s when I realized the moment I arrived was a test and that things would only continue to be this way. “I should’ve known of course they would do this and so much more,” I thought. Well not much I can do. I went back to my dorm and told Ether. Ether listened attentively but didn’t react as I thought he would. I wondered if Ether knew but of course he wouldn’t for he’s just a cat but it truly makes me wonder what Croucus can do to people here and cats alike.
