Silver Linings

Beyond the Silver Lining

I killed my own happiness

For people who are ignorant to sacrifices

I killed my soul

To finish the puzzle for those who mourn

I killed myself

Trying to shape myself for those I do not know

Now I isolate myself in these four walls

Wondering if I was ever meant to fall

Trying to help others climb their wall

I lie to myself

Thinking that maybe I can live my own illusion

To satisfy the craving my heart caused collision

Beyond the silver linings

I beg the horizon to change its pace

For I do not want to mourn my own corpse

For I want to fly beyond the sky

Beyond my agony

I want to reach paradise

For even people like I

Want chances people never justified

For the tomorrow's I will hold

And the past that I will let go

I badly want to know

Is there a chance for my fate

To change its pace?

Senior Year

"Goodmorning students, it is officially our first, and certainly last 10 months together as a class. I advice all of you to take this year seriously. Once you walk out this school on May 5th, y'all will be on your own. To this day forward, you are the superior of this school, and you should act like one. Likewise, make the most out of this year since this will be the last. Class A-Ruby, I am Jaime Aguilar, and I will be your advisor for this school year. "

" Ahhh, break time atlast!"

I sighed as I stretched my body.

Teaching was never my passion, but it was the easiest job I could think of, and enough to sustain my boring self. I could've gone with being an engineer, or an I.T but nah, its just a waste of energy. Besides, taking care of a bunch of nutheads and lecturing them about stuff they won't even need is pretty damn easy!

I sarcastically rolled my eyes as I thought of that to myself, checking my student's profiles for it to be easier to understand those nutjobs. After one or two papers, I came across a student with the name "Mei Dela Rosa".

I raised an eyebrow, wondering if she's a transfer student, when I saw her picture at the top of her profile paper, I realized she was an old student of mine 3 years ago, at the beginning of highschool, a quiet and dull student, she didn't recite nor did she participate in any extra curriculum, she submits her homeworks on time yet it seemed like she just appeared out of nowhere. After that year, I only see her face once in a while then later completely forgetting she even existed. She sometimes came to school with a hint of bruises, but she always claimed it was because of her stubbornness that her parents sometimes hit her for misbehaving. There was a time where I caught her after school with severe cuts, and her uniform slightly torn down, her hair so messy as if she was in a cat fight. I took her to my office for some interrogation, but she flat out said

"It was because of my stubbornness that I had gotten into this mess, please do not report nor tell anyone about it. What happens to me will be none of you or the school's fault."

and she left.

I felt sorry and wanted to help her, so, even if she said to not call her parents, I did. However, no one answered, so I went to their house instead, but then again, no one answered. I asked around about a child named Mei however no one came to know her. It was strange. I kept looking for answers and wanted to find a way to help her, but then she came the following day clean as hell, no bruises, no nothing. Then the next day, and another, until surprisingly, she attended school neatly and I never saw her in a state where she had bruises all over her again. She seemed fine so I stopped questioning, and left her be with the ordinary students of Saint Carmel High. Then again, she is my student-

"Jaime!!"

a woman screamed as I felt the slap of papers on my right cheek, breaking my little moment of reminiscing the uncanny behavior of a student.

"What!? "

I screamed back with the same frustration she gave.

"What the hell are you doing!? You're literally five minutes late to your next class! Stop zoning out at this time of the day you moron!"

Ahh.. Jasmine Marquez, my co-worker who's annoying as hell, though she does live up to her teacher model image, she is a real pain in the *** as a co-worker.

" Shit shit shit shit!!"

I quickly grabbed the stuff I need and ran out of the faculty and to the next class.

Vixen Of Class A-Ruby

As I ran my way to the classroom I should've been in five minutes earlier, I find myself bumping into some teachers in the hallway, screaming "Im sorry!" as I move my way like the wind. Saint Carmel is a hell big and wide school, so its hard to get around from one classroom to another. After nearly two minutes of running, I am met with the classroom I advise. Class A-Ruby. It's my second time with them since earlier. I fixed my blazer and my glasses and took a deep breath to hide the fact that I ran across the entire building.

As I enter, I see students playing at the back, some being productive, some almost throwing themselves out the window, and those sneaky bastards whose on their phones either snapping some selfies, or filming those nutjobs at the back doing stupid things. I was cool with it, but they had to learn to keep their voice down. I'm not a fan of shouting at my students, so I just leaned by the door, glaring at them until one eventually noticed and screams at the whole class. Good tactics am I right? It only needed a couple of seconds for one of the productive students to notice me and, as I said, scream at her classmates to shut the hell up.

" The teacher's here!"

Everyone froze and noticed how dumb they were, so in the speed of light, everyone was sitting in there proper damn chairs and was quiet as possible, bracing themselves for a long lecture of how improper the behaved. Thankfully, I ain't that type, why the heck should I waste my time blabbering about their wrong doings when I can just go straight to the point and say

"You're wrong, stop that shit, and act like a senior, before I get the principal's *** here."

and just like that, it worked! Sure they'll probably do dumb shit again, but they'll learn to keep their eyes and ears open for my footsteps. I then proceeded to do my task, which is to teach.

I finally finished half of my day. As I finished my food, I went out, as far away as possible, so no one could see me smoke. I inhaled as I watch the birds fly in the sky, the sun so bright and up, and the flower petals that swing with the humid wind. It sure was a boring day, but having some peace and distance from people is just what I need to refreshen myself, and brace for the afternoon classes, and the overtime I am hoping not to have. After a few minutes of some relax time, My phone buzzed, meaning it was time to go back. I sighed and threw my cigarette away, and headed back.

When I got back, I caught a glimpse of one of my students having some rubbish fight with the other kids. There was a whole lot of students around them, and yes, I did witness a flying punch and a weak defense before I butted in and stopped their petty fight. When I did I realized it was Mei, punching a kid, the same grade as her. Quite surprising for a girl to be so violent.

"Okay kids, wrap it up, we're heading for some interrogation"

I smirked, reassuring them that they're in real deep shit.

I dropped them off at the school's guidance office and lightly patted their shoulders, giving them a "You're in real trouble" look as I went ahead and knocked on the door.

Miss Guidance Counselor opened the door with a smile on her face that later turned to a frown once she saw me.

"Not a big fan of me eh?"

I said, teasing her as she rolled her eyes and asked why Im there.

"I got two troublemakers for you to deal with."

I said while pointing at them. She moved her head to the side and gave me a not surprising look.

"I bet one of them is your student?"

She asked, giving me the " You taught them that" look.

"Yeah but.. Cmon~ The girl's a good.. Fella"

I said giving my student a sarcastic smile.

"What? How can she be a good fella when she did this to me?"

The kid pointed at his bruise on his face, not getting the sarcasm in what I just said.

Mei just rolled her eyes as he let herself in the guidance office, kind of a way to say "no more chit chatting and lets get this over with."

and with that I just headed out and left the guidance counselor do her end of the bargain.I walked back to the faculty to grab my things and continued my day.

"My, I guess I got a hot headed maggot in my classroom."

I thought to myself as I walked along the hallway.
