Ryan "Rose" Reyburn, born from a fallen household and was an orphan since she was 4 years old. Her parents died from an unknown cause of a car accident. She was fostered by her parent's friend, who doesn't have children but as soon as she turned 19. They also died due to being sick, and now 26 years old, living as an ordinary secretary of a travel company, B&W Travel Corporation.
6:00 in the morning, Ryan woke up right before her alarm could go off. She showered, dried herself, dressed promptly in a black and white suit, combed her hair into a bun, and sprayed her favorite lilac perfume, then set herself out.
It was a beautiful morning for her to get herself a good coffee before going straight to the office. She put on earphones and listened to her favorite song, riding the bus as she looked outside the window. She could see a clear sky, people bussing around going to work, students in a hurry for school, businesses getting ready to open, and the buildings rising against each other. However, none of it matters to her. She heaved a sigh and smiled as she uttered the words "boring" in an almost whispering tone.
Upon arriving at her work, she was welcomed by her colleague, Alex Baudelaire. A French who was transferred to their company due to his talent in negotiation. Ryan likes him because of a particular reason - his family name, which means 'dagger.' Though Ryan doesn't notice, Alex is actually a very handsome young boy. He is two years younger than Ryan and is famous among the ladies in the company. A blonde hair, with light green eyes and lips what girls crave. However, Ryan does not bother with such trivialities.
"Ryan! You're unusually late today?" He rests his arms on her shoulders as they walk towards the elevator. "really?" Ryan answered, sipping on her coffee, "have you finally got the deal with the Russian Airlines?" she asked, pressing on the 11th floor. Alex looked at her and smiled widely, assuring her as if the deal was closed. Ryan smiled, "I guess you got the deal. Congratulations!" patting Alex on his shoulders. Reaching the 11th floor, right before Ryan got out of the elevator, "Ryan, Happy Birthday!" Alex greeted her. She just smiled and waved her hand goodbye.
She forgot about today; she stopped celebrating her birthday since she was 19 years old. She could even barely remember her parents and the ones who took care of her. None of them really matters to her. She sat to her seat, finished her coffee, plummeted down to her desk, and uttered "boring."
Gliding her fingers to each page of the documents assigned to her, her eyes widely opened when she noticed a shadow hovered over her desk. "Ryan, it's lunch break." it was Alex inviting her for lunch. "Sorry, I need to finish these documents before the Head Secretary returns. You can go have your lunch first." Ryan firmly answered, still reviewing the documents that needed revision. "tsk, that old man is doing it again. Abusing his authority." Alex complained. He then went ahead and had his lunch.
Ryan heaved a sigh once again and noticed that it was already time to clock out. The first time she worked in B&W Travel Corp., there were 3 of them working in the secretary department, but for some reason, she was the only one left. One of her colleagues was pregnant and now on 5 months leave and the other quit because of the Head Secretary being too strict. She packed her stuff and double-checked if there are any documents left unfinished, then head down.
She took a cab and checked the time. It's 7:00 Pm. "Mister, please drop me at Marina Apartment in Stultus City." She told the taxi driver.
Passing through some busy streets to a quiet and dark apartment complex, the taxi driver even wonders why a woman would ever come to such a place. However, he did not bother and dropped Ryan after taking the fee. Ryan went to a dark alley and entered an abandoned building at the of the Apartment.
Though she is a competent secretary during the day, however at night, she is known as the undefeated "Crimson Witch." An assassin for hire to kill enemies no matter who it is.
The night had grown deeper; her intentions were obvious - to get a mission. Her black clothes and mask blend through the darkness, and not a single person could even notice her presence.
There she crept behind the shadows in an office room and spoke, "any job today?"
A middle-aged man, tall and menacing.
His presence screams murder even with the guise of a gentlemanly black tuxedo;
he puffed his tobacco and turned towards the shadows, "Rose, it's been a while."
he spoke with a gentle voice, but still firm enough to command a thousand troops. "have you been well?" he asked. Ryan appeared, enough to be seen, as the twilight of the moon reflects her grey eyes, "I've been well…father."
The man, leader of the Blood Dragon Organization, smiled as he puffed his tobacco once again. "I see.
This time would be interesting. You will have to move by yourself." His voice
became serious.
"It’s an unusual request… from 16 years ago. It was an unfinished business, and I think it’s time to end it. Don’t you
think so? Rose?”
It was then when she remembered how she entered the Blood Dragon Organization. She tightened her fists and frowned unnoticed. “understood… father” was all she could say.
She took an enveloped document from the man’s desk and faded through the darkness. As soon as Ryan left, the man puffed his last of his tobacco and sighed. He looked out of his office, overseeing the night view of the city. “Indeed, it’s been 16 years. Would she regret, brother?”
Ryan, soaking in her bathtub, contemplating about the mission given to her; this time, all she could think of is accomplishing the task.
An unfinished business of her ‘father’ got her jittery and excited; how could the organization’s great leader have some unaccomplished mission? All these thoughts are eating her curiosity as she reads through the report.
The report got her even more curious; all the whys are running through her head; it just doesn’t make sense. The documents included the target's background, two photos – the target’s shot from 16 years ago an the current picture.
The mission was to investigate the target and kill when information is obtained. What got Ryan more probing was not the mission itself. Still, they are willing to pay 8 million dollars for a man working in a library.
Early morning, in her day off from the B&W Company 3 days after receiving her mission, she set out to the library. She has been good with her work and confident in her skills; however, her only offset was her temper. She hates investigating – she specializes in ambush and on-the-spot assassination; however, it is not her best aptitude for lying low. Ryan, pretending to be a college student, wearing a brown messenger bag, round glasses, pink jersey jacket paired with a white shirt and grey joggers, and a messy ponytail, thanks to her small stature young image, could pass up as a middle school student.
Pretending to be a college was enough to make her irritated.
Still, meeting Alex in front of her apartment sure blew her temper off.
Her doorbell keeps ringing for 2 minutes already; as soon as she was supposed to leave came Alex smashing the doorbell button. “Ryan! Hey! Let’s go shopping!”
Alex yells as he bangs the door. Irritated and annoyed, Ryan took off her glasses and jacket and went to open the door. “Alex,” said Ryan calmly, “It is MY DAY-OFF.,” expounded Ryan.
Alex just smiled brightly and linked arms with Ryan as he pulled Ryan into her room, “I know! That’s why we need to go shopping! I need to get new clothes!” Ryan pulled her arms and sighed deeply to control her temper. “Alex, YOU need clothes. I have no…” Alex intervened, “no, no… WE need clothes. There’s going to be a Corporate party between our company and the Russian Airlines, inviting all other businesses involved and you, as the ONLY secretary we have at the moment will have to attend the party. Got it? Now, go, and I’ll wait.” Explained Alex as he put his arms across his chest, intending to wait on Ryan. Ryan just heaved another sigh and clicked her tongue.
She took back her round glasses and put on her pink jacket, and said, “I’m ready. Let’s go.” Alex looked at her from head to toe and put on a dissatisfied face. “YOU are going out with ME like that? like… THAT, with ME?”
His face traced with disgust could not comprehend what is going on with her outfit, but one thing he realized about Ryan is that she has no sense of fashion AT ALL.
Alex dragged Ryan from one shop to another, fitting all
different kinds of dresses; it went on for 4 hours until they finally bought
the perfect dress for both of them.
“parfait! Tres Bien Ryan! That dress fits you perfectly!”
Alex exclaimed in excitement, clapping his hands. “We will take that, please,
put it under my name.”
Both had their dresses wrapped and now onto their separate ways. But before they
say their goodbyes, Alex handed out the invitation card for the party, “Don’t
forget to be there, Ryan. See you there, bye!”
In relief, she went back to the shop to let the employees
send her dress tomorrow afternoon to her apartment.
Putting on her white cap, she heads straight to the library
before it closes.
As she reaches the location, she noticed how ordinary the library looks like. A
café right before you enter the library with only the sign HIS LIBRARY written
on it.
Entering the library, nothing out of the ordinary was in
there; however, as she scans through the shelves, she noticed a separate isle
in the library's very back. Passing through all the frames, the book's
particular shelves were rusty and broken, however clean.
A book caught her attention; it's neither new, neither old. When
she was about to open the book, a voice stopped her from doing so… behind her
stood the man, silver hair with golden eyes, Harold Celis Grey… her target.
Though she was surprised, she tried to hide her emotions and composed herself. She put
back the book and turned to him, “sorry, I was looking for some
interesting books to read.” she said, fixing some of the books back to their
place.
Harold smiled brightly, “that’s alright. Though usually, no one comes to this part of
the library; I am surprised to see someone here.” He crossed his arms and
leaned to the shelve blocking Ryan’s way. He stood tall, and even though he is
wearing a simple hoodie, you can tell that his body is in good shape; he is a
foot away from Ryan, and he leaned forward “are you new here?”
Ryan pushed him away lightly enough to make him stand back up, “yes… my friend
recommended me this library. There is no restriction sign, so I came here.” Her
eyes gleamed annoyance towards Harold, hoping he would move aside. However, it
did not bother Harold as he finds her amusing in some way.
“no, that’s alright, you can check any book you’d like in my library. You’re welcome
anytime.” Harold moved aside and gestured for Ryan to pass. Ryan did not take
his words as a welcoming remark but a tease.
From that moment she knew, this mission would be tiring.
She was given 3 months to complete the mission, and this is her first meeting with
him… she wanted to finish the task ASAP.
Ryan thought that she had enough for today; she took the book to check it out to not
be suspected.
Arriving home, she immediately arranged all her thoughts and strategies to take to
investigate Harold. Before anything else, she decided to contact her closest
ally and the only one who knows her as an assassin - Jerry. He is known in the
underworld as ‘the Rat’. Because of his wit and sneaky information, there is
nothing he doesn’t know or wouldn’t know. He holds most of everyone’s gen, and
he can obtain the most hidden secrets of the country’s official. He is not part
of any organizations, so many organizations are scared of him… he holds
them by their neck. If he needs anything, no one can refuse. Like Ryan, he also has 28 million dollars’
bounty on his head and the amount is still rising.
Ryan took her phone as she settles down her sofa, dialing a familiar unsaved number
as she waits for the person on the other side of the line to answer. “Jerry”
called Ryan, as soon as it was picked up. “Help me look for someone’s
information.” Jerry, on the other side, sneakered, “well, Ryan, I’m also doing
fine. Who is it?”
Ryan stayed silent for a while but answered otherwise, “Harold Celis Grey” her voice
suddenly became serious.
Jerry, on the other hand, was taken aback, “who? Harold Celis Grey? What’s up? Why do
you need me to get information for him? You usually ask me for location, not
information.”
Ryan just slumped down her sofa and rest her head on her hand, “look for it; I
need his info. In four days.” Jerry smiled, “what's the catch for me?"
Ryan, who is annoyed enough, clicked her tongue "2.5 million not
more." and hanged-up.
The next morning, she woke up by the sound of her doorbell. It was the delivery of
the dress Alex bought yesterday that came earlier than what was expected. After
signing the package, the delivery guy handed her a letter together with the
boxed dress. She saw the delivery guy was a bit suspicious but shrugged it off.
The message has no address. She opened it thinking it was an appreciation card
from the dress shop. However, as soon as she read the card, Ryan stood up in
surprise.
The letter wrote, ‘I’m warning you, stay away
from Harold.’
It was obviously a warning.
Ryan closed her windows and locked the door, just in case someone is on her.
At this moment, Ryan is alert. No one is supposed to know about her, her identity
as an assassin, or her mission. No one in the organization knows what she looks
like, except for her ‘father’ or Jerry.
One thing about the organization is that no one knows who’s who. They could be your
ordinary tofu vendor, a middle-school teacher, a mother, a nurse, or just your
typical grandpa that walks his dog in the park. This is the strength of the
Blood Dragon Organization.
Ryan wore her mask and hood, turned off her lights, and disappeared into the
shadows. Minutes later, she could hear footsteps outside her room… about 4, no
6 of them. And it stayed quiet.
At that moment, Ryan knew they’re on her. Her lock was decoded, and movements
filled her room. Behind the darkness, Ryan could see who they are… in her hand
is her partner in every life she took- a dagger designed to cut heads straight.
Before Ryan could make her move, a familiar yet unknown voice called them out, “shit. She
knew! Everyone come back out! Immediately!”
Ryan couldn’t let them leave before knowing who they are or who sent them. She
attacked from the shadows before they could go out, cutting through their
necks; she took down 4 of them in just a minute.
She took a glimpse of the man who called them, but he is also wearing a mask, a man
with jeweled green eyes.
Ryan immediately took care of the bodies and blood and called for Jerry for cleanup as
she stays out. “Hey Jerry, get some guys to clean up my house. I’ll stay in a
hotel for three days; make sure to send me the hotel address now.” Ryan took the
dress and all her documents to set out. “what?! Ryan, can you not go around
killing people and make me clean up your dirt?” Jerry complained but did it
anyway and booked Ryan a hotel room.
After checking in, she immediately cleaned up and prepared for the party tonight.
She still couldn’t wrap her head around what happened earlier. Just who are they,
and what does the card mean?
A little while, Ryan received a message from Alex: I’ll pick you up at 7:00 pm. Make sure to look pretty.
Ryan immediately wore the dress, got service from the hotel for hair and make-up,
and asked Jerry to send her sandals to match the dress.
This will be her first party attending as Ryan, the secretary. The last time she participated
in a party was for a mission.
Not long, Alex came sporting his white limo and his white and cream tuxedo that
complements his blonde hair. Today, Ryan will be his partner.
Arriving at the venue, everyone was astonished by Alex’s prominent jaw-dropping
handsomeness and Ryan’s appearance.
The light blue drape dress that shows her back making her look sexy yet elegant at
the same time, and her long black hair that was curled, making her look innocent,
and her make-up making her young. Everyone is in awe.
No one can believe that she is Ryan, the lone secretary.
“Hey, Ryan,” Alex whispered, “everyone is looking. Am I too handsome?”
Ryan smiled, “it was because you were with me that everyone is looking. I’m too
pretty to be your partner.”
Alex, in disbelief, pushed her a little by his elbow jokingly, “Wow, can’t believe
you know how to joke like this.”
Ryan took a glass of champagne and sipped, “I wasn’t joking.” And walked away.
Alex was left irritated, but he can’t show, so he kept smiling for the sake of his righteous
image.
As the party continued, another person came somewhat late. The noise and crowds
caught Ryan’s attention as she was also curious about who would make such an entrance.
Right when she realized who came, her eyes widened… somehow, things keep
surprising her today.
