Hi. My name is Nioma Sterling and only four years ago my life changed completely. I was only 15 when my father decided to gamble our lives away. I had to be the one to work due to my fathers terrible condition. My mother stayes at home with my four siblings. As i am walking on my way home every day from work i just wonder why I had to be put in line for something I wasnt ready for. I find the bus station seats empty and free. I take a seat and wait patiently for my 4:30 p.m. bus as usual. I sigh and get lost in my thoughts of how much trouble ill be in when i get home for buying myself a new pair of shoes. Even though my old ones were worn out. A man tall and thin with a dark suit interupted me when he began to yell at someone over the phone. He immediatly hung up and seen me sitting right there. He cocked his head in curiosity and cruelty with a smirk. "Well what is a fine young lady like you waiting here for all alone?" He leanes up almost against me as I push away in anger. "Why do you care." "Why do you care." He mimicks. "Stop that!" I snarl as I point a finnger in his face. "Stop that!" He smirks. "Very well... I am on my period." "Very well... I am on my p-... wait what." He pauses in disgust. I smile, " You heard me. Go on say it." His lips curve in thinly. "I see you like to push my patience. Don't you?" I did exactly what he did. "I see you like to push MY patience. DONT YOU." We stand in silence and almost awkwardness. My bus finally arrived and at the perfect time. Its roaring sounds show that it is already in exhaust. The doors open and just as I am about to take a step onto the bus he replies, "Wait... " I turn around swiftly. "What." "What is your name??" I smile but ignore his stiff question as I continue to turn around and hop a seat on the bus. I stay looking out the window peering at him as he stares me down. I kept thinking about the way he was just talking to me. Such an ignorant man. I hope for the love of god I never have to see him AGAIN! Now all I have to think about is how I will explain these shoes and the lack for extra money. I smiled solemnly at my shoes and at how comfy they were. I peered out the window one last time and before I knew it.. it was my stop. I stood outside puffing cold air in and out of my lungs just staring at the house in which is the devil itself. I began to think of the last time I ever attended school... but its been to long to remember. I slowly make my way to the house and take a deep breathe in and out. I open the door and walk inside and at first silence. I began to think no one was home. I walked into all rooms that they normally were in. I checked the kitchen, and bedrooms. When i got to the living room my family was sitting on the couch almost in despair. The looks on their faces were full of sorrow and regret. Unusual men started to come throught the closet doors and bathrooms. "Whats going on...?" I look to my mother for answers but none was given. She looked down at her shoes. Then a booming voice spoke aloud. "Mr. and Mrs. Sterling... Very pleasant to see you again.." Shoes clapped against the floor as the man walked in. My eyes widened in horror for what I had seen next made me deterriate in shock.
