The humans and the vampires used to live in harmony. The humans lived on one side of the kingdom in houses, while the vampires lived in the forests. In exchange for the vampires leaving them in peace the human king and queen drew up a decree. In exchange for peace, the humans would give them bottles of blood to keep their thirst at bay.

This deal worked for many years until a selfish king and queen came along and thought they could defeat the vampires. To weaken them they stopped giving them the blood for just long enough so they would be weak. 

If a vampire doesn't ingest blood regularly they will steadily become weaker and eventually be unable to use them. 

However what the human's didn't realize was that animals' blood also worked. So while the vampires pretended to grow weaker and hid themselves away. The humans used them hiding to develop weapons unnoticed. They created a bomb and used it to try to wipe out the vampires. 

With the cost of his life the last alpha vampire sacrificed himself by using all of his magic to protect those that he could with a shield. When the last of his magic was gone, he simply crumbled to dust. For magic flows within all things, and when it is gone, the body has nothing left to sustain itself and simply crumbles. The alpha mark disappears and returns to a sacred chamber in the form of a necklace

The alpha vampire is the strongest of the vampires and their leader and once one dies another will take their place. When the alpha dies, over the course of the next two years all the vampires from age 18 to age 24 will train to compete for the title. The vampires that are found to be the strongest, wisest, and most kind will be presented to the alpha mark in necklace form, in the sacred chamber at the end of the competition. The alpha mark will choose the best candidate to be ruler from among them.

An alpha mark, shows that they are the leader and is a crescent moon and two stars, if they are worthy the mark will choose them and appear on their cheek. The mark grants you more power and marks you as the leader. Up until two years ago only men could be alpha, but because of our decreased population they amended that rule and this year females can compete to be alpha. 

We are much more capable than humans as we can run faster, live longer, are more graceful,  and can scent blood from miles away. This year is going to be one of the most competitive years yet. Not only because females can also join but because the winner of this year's competition is the only that will lead us into our vengeance against the humans. 

I, Moonstar, a female vampire, am training to be the next alpha vampire. 2 years ago my family and most of my tribe died because I was too weak. This is the year I get stronger, and I get my vengeance.
