The first day of summer. I’m wearing my summer school uniform. Eat my toast bread and milk made by my grandmother. I’m Alice, Alice Holmes. I lived with my grandparent.

“Alice finish your breakfast quickly. Don’t be late in your first day of senior high school.” My grandmother remind me.

“Yes Ma, I’m finish my breakfast. Thankyou.” I call her Ma.

I take my school bag and ready to go. Cielo already waiting me in front of my house. He is my next-door neighbor, my childhood friend since our day one. He is really cold outside but he is so warm and kind. He is annoying and always tease me everytime he can. Our heights weren’t that much different, but he is taller than me. He has dark brown hair and his colour eyes was my favorite, hazel eyes. Everyone can love him from the first sight.

“Hey Cielo! Do you wait for me?”

Cielo shooks his head. He never admit it.

We walk to school together. It’s not so far from our house. We lived in the small town. The summer sunshine looks good on him. Everything around him is perfect.

“Why I have to be in the same class with you?” Cielo ruffles my hair with his flat expression, as usual.

“I’m the person who should say that Cielo. I’m bored seeing you everytime.” I laugh at him.

“Hey, are you in the same class?” Fiona interupts us. She is also my childhood friend. She is beautiful and warm. Her blonde hair looks perfect with her white skin. She is straighforward and charming person.

“Yes as always.” I nod.

“Your fate is suck.” She laughs at us and the bell rang.

I sit with Fiona in the class and Cielo sit next to me. There are new people and same old people I know in the class. I’m excited with my senior high school life.

Cielo, he just looking at the window and waiting the class over. Summer. Cielo hates summer, hate the heat. He never excited at this weather except for the summer sky. He was very fond of stars, astronomy, and space. He was influenced by his father. His name Cielo means sky.

The class over. I become a class president. After class, I have to prepare class introduction meeting with other class president, our senior, and our homeroom teacher.

“Cielo, I will not come home with you.”

“I also don’t want to go home with you. You’re too confident”. He reply me sarcastically, as usual.

“Go home then!”

The meeting finish at 06.00 PM. I’m so tired yet excited. I go home alone. But what? Cielo at the school gate. Am I wrong?

“Cielo, are you still there? Do you wait for me again? Hahaha.”

“You are totally wrong Alice. I read a book at library after class over. Stop being so confident.”

“Let’s go home together then.” I smile at him.

“Stop smiling at me. You are ugly Alice.” He walks fast and I run after him.

“Cielo, do you like the first day at school?.”

He is not answer and remain silent. The wind blows gently in the middle of summer. He’s too cool.

Will this summer bring something good to me? I’m waiting.

Summer morning. Warm morning sunlight through my bedroom window. I wake up and open my window. I see her shadows behind the white curtain. Her room in front of my room. We are next-door neighbor. She is Alice, Alice Holmes.

I rush my morning routine. Eat breakfast. My mom made a sandwich. I walk to Alice’s house and wait her. It becomes habit for me since I was in the elementary school. She is the person I want to meet in the morning. She is a cheerful person, smart yet clumsy, witty, and beautiful. She made me laugh. I loved everything about her.

“Hey Cielo! Do you wait for me?” Alice asks me. I just shook my head. To be honest, I always wait her. I don’t want her to know it.

A tranquil silence as long as we walk to school. She look gorgeous in copper hair. It suits her summer school uniform. Also with her grey eyes.

We arrive at school on time and directly check our class. She complines to me because we are in the same class. She chooses to sit with Fiona and sit next to me. This is our first day in senior high school.

She becomes class president since she is very active and sociable person. She will busy this week to prepare class introduction. She is something.

“Cielo, I will not come home with you.” Alice informs me.

“I also don’t want to go home with you. You’re too confident”. Why I’ve to say this words?.

“Go home then!” She looks upset.

I go to library to read. Looking for astronomy book they have. I read and fell asleep. Someone wake up me and says that library will close soon. The clock shows 05.45 AM. I prepare to go home. Maybe Alice already at home.

When I’m at the school gate, someone call out me. It’s Alice and she stills at school. In the end we come home together.

“Cielo, do you like the first day at school?.” She asks me with her puppy eyes.

I’m not answer her question. I don’t know how to put everything in the word. Being with her everytime is my pleasure. But can this moment between me and her last forever? I’m not sure. And I’m not sure she likes me more than a friend.

“Cielo, Cielo, Cielo. You are totally boring person. See you tomorrow Cielo.” She smiles.

She comes into her house. But then turns towards me.

“Cielo, I forget to give you this. I baked a brownies yesterday.”

“Is this edible to eat Alice?” I tease her.

“Cielo! If you don’t want to eat that. Give back to me.”

“No. It’s mine now. See you Alice!”

“Don’t come into my dream Mr. Cielo Lucius or I will punch you tomorrow morning.”

I want to come into your dream. It is okay if you punch me in the morning.

“I won’t, Alice.” I smile to her.

The night summer sky looks so bright. It’s perfectly beautiful, like her.
