My Tempting Little Thief
Chapter 1 - Steal A Namesake
The sky was starless, putting the moon on display for all to admire.
I always loved the moon. It lit up a world encompassed in darkness while the sun was resting.
Quite poetic, don't you think?
My feet remained anchored on the slanted terracotta roof tiles while the wind fluttered through my cloak.
I observed the party below me through the old-fashioned glass. People were chuckling at fake flattery, holding in their hands glasses filled with expensive champagne.
Around the women's necks were pearls, diamonds, even the occasional ruby.
However, there was only one jewel that I had my eyes on tonight.
It spoke to me through the glass; it's familiar shimmer reflecting inside of my amber eyes.
Ava Princeton
Found you...
I spoke under my breath, my gloved hand reaching towards the window, caressing it.
The "Avalon", a jewel incomparable to most. I was named after that very stone, a name that I've grown to love.
It had since been fashioned inho a necklace, the gemstone cut into an intricate diamond shape.
My father loved gemstones; in fact, he was obsessed with them.
He used to be a world-class appraiser and handled some of the most beautiful diamonds, emeralds, and rubies that the world has ever seen.
The sound of a loud bell marking midnight resonated through my ears, making a grin bigger than life appear across my face. It's show time.
While their eyes are on each other, I'll swoop in and steal the real highlight of the show.
The Rose Gala, the most exclusive charity event for the rich and famous to gather and flaunt how generous they are with the flash of a chequebook.
It's just a facade. Most of the people earn their money from illegal means and make the public believe that they are simply being generous.
It took me a few minutes to unscrew the vent and jump in. It took me an age to crawl through it and eventually, I kicked open the vent that was directly over the woman's bathroom.
Unzipping my bag, I immediately started to get changed.
I knew that my outfit would get dirty if I crawled through those crusty vents with them.
Good thing that I don't need to go back up them to escape. I've got another escape plan.
After I got changed, I opened up the bathroom to see if anyone was there. I quickly slipped out and hid behind a marble pillar.
The first rule of being a thief: don't get caught before you've got the prize in hand.
The mask covering the top of my face was slowly suffocating me but my eyes were on the jewel at all times.
I moved closer and closer, avoiding a group of men talking about their mistresses.
I tip-toed and managed to come as close to the stage as possible.
There it was... my namesake gemstone...
I guess that it's time to get this party started!
Taking a canister from my waist and pulling the pin, the room was enveloped in smoke gas in record time.

Chapter 2 - Caught On
Unlike those amateurs, I've been used to moving in smoke.
With a simple bobby pin, I started to rapidly pick the lock.
I heard the small click and grinned.
Pulling up the protective bullet-proof glass, I saw it glimmer despite being surrounded by smoke.
I've always had a talent for lock-picking and pickpocketing. A guilty talent that I'm very much proud of.
It was actually at an event like this that I stole my first watch. My father never found out and that was the end of it.
However, I couldn't help myself but keep it as a memento. It was, after all, my first steal.
I took the necklace and slipped it into my pocket before emerging from the top of the smoke.
Immediately, I saw people gasp and whip out their phones, filming me while I walked casually through the smoke.
Queen is the nickname that I've picked up after stealing some of the most secure jewels in the country.
I've become a celebrity in some eyes but in others, I'm simply a criminal.
I make a show out of every job I did.
It was how I hyped up the crowd and pushed them towards enjoying my actions instead of cursing me for them.
The masked thief with the pair of sexy legs that make people wonder if they are insured.
In a cloak and a black jumpsuit, not forgetting the white mask which covered the top part of my face, including my nose, I stole expensive gemstones like they were no bother to me.
As I went to walk towards the door, guards surrounded me.
I smiled and when one tried to pounce on me, I jumped up and off of his bald head, doing a skilled backflip over the group's head and running towards the door.
Running along the marble floor, my black boots clacked against it, creating a very distracting noise.
I then froze when I noticed that the exit had been completely blocked, not only by guards but by certain males too.
Taking a run up, I started to jump and just as I was about to fall into the pile of men, I vaulted over them in a swilled backflip, landing on my feet on the other side.
The girls squealed and just as I landed, I threw a little device behind me which made some people run for cover.
Everyone hid immediately while I chuckled and smirked.
It's just an electronic interference chip. It deleted any data that you've made in the past ten minutes, courtesy of my genius inventor friend.
And just like that, I ran away.
One person didn't hide in the hall however. He smiled when he walked down the stairs and his eyes noticed a glimmering shine on the floor.
Picking it up, he grinned.
Jace Huntington
That's interesting...
Jace Huntington
This is the first time that you've made a mistake, Queen.

Chapter 3 - At School
Making sure that I wasn't followed, I turned around one last time before disappearing into the park in the centre of town.
Getting changed in the public restroom over there, I emerged wearing a baseball cap and a cute outfit.
Ava Princeton
Well, I must say, that was a pretty smooth mission.
The necklace with in the pocket of my Queen outfit, and I was on the way to deliver it to the Academy.
You must be wondering why I'm going to school after I just stole a necklace worth millions.
Well, my friends, that is because that's where my headquarters are.
When you think of a thief's headquarters, you think of an isolated apartment in some slum town near the border of the city.
But my headquarters is a whole school, the biggest school around in fact; Maine Academy.
The school is not only big but for the students who don't have the money to attend school don't even have to pay a dime. It's all free, from the school trips to the canteen food.
In the government's eyes, it is all financed by anonymous donors but in truth, the only thing keeping this place afloat is me.
Walking through the dark campus, I eventually arrived at, the physics department.
No lights were on and I unlocked the door by myself, as calm as a cucumber.
The school did look creepy during the night. Limited lighting, and hardly any way to navigate around it.
If I hadn't memorised the path, I would have surely taken a few wrong turns along the way to this building.
Opening up the door, I locked it behind me and walked right into the seemingly abandoned building.
The creaks of the floorboards under my feet sprung up to my ears until I reached a singular room at the end of the corridor.
It was lit up. Someone was in there. The light was escaping through the keyhole and edges.
When my hand landed on the handle, I opened up the door.
Suddenly, pops from streamers made me jolt as I saw myself surrounded by confetti and paper curls.
Pierre Castille
Happy Birthday, Ava!
Alfred Castle
Happy Birthday, Vee.
Vernon Steele
Hmph... why are we doing this anyway?
Two of my teachers and the headmaster looked right at me, streamers in hand.
Ava Princeton
W-What's this all for?
Alfred Castle
Well, you see, we wanted to do something for your birthday, darling.
Oh right... it was my 17th birthday today...
You might be wondering why I'm meeting two of my teachers and the principal late at night. That's because they are my team who help Queen succeed in every mission.
Pierre Castille, secretly an ex-con, and currently the head of the French, Spanish and German departments in our school.
Vernon Steele, ex-marine and special forces ops, currently the strictest PE teacher alive.
And finally, Alfred Castle who is the Head Master of this place. He keeps everything afloat and has ties to the underground market.
Vernon Steele
Look at her. She doesn't even remember her own birthday. I told you that this was a terrible idea.
Ava Princeton
You're right, I had forgotten about it.
I started to forget about things like birthdays ever since they became a reminder of my loneliness.
Ava Princeton
Hold on, if you guys have been decorating the student faculty room, who's been marking the papers that are due tomorrow?
Vernon Steele
Don't look at me. I finished yesterday.
Pierre Castille
Ha... ha... ha...
He then fell into despair.
Pierre Castille
I'll do them now.
