"My Majesty, it's time for your health session"
The sun shone on Nicolus' hazel brown hair, and sparkled on his emerald green eyes. 'It's time for my session again' he thought, sitting in his exquisitely decorated room. Nicolus was probably the weakest royal member in the history of his family, a few drops of rain and he'd get sick immediately, a little sip of cold water will get him coughing for weeks. No doctor can explain his condition, and because of that he never got to do things a normal prince would do, like sword fighting, horseback riding, and helping villagers.
His personal doctor came in, and started to check his health with a spell.
"Everything seems well so far Prince Nicolas..just avoid getting tired, and your immune system will slowly but surely start to strengthen."
"Ok, thanks.."
The doctor left without saying another word, like everytime she comes to check him. 'Its that same phrase over and over again..I don't even remember the last time I got tired, even just slightly. But why am I still not strong? Why am I so weak? At this rate my younger sister will become the heir instead of me-'
And as if on cue, Nicolas' sister gently walked in his room, holding a big tray with plates of steak, eggs, and a cup of tea.
"Hey Nico.. I brought you some steak and eggs I whipped up a while ago, and a cup of your favorite citron tea." Her sweet voice echoed through the walls.
Nicolas didn't not like his sister, in fact they are both very close, he just wishes that he could take up the big responsibility of being the ruler rather than burdening his little sister with it.
"Oh great, thanks Louise, just what I needed.."
Louise placed the tray on his lap, then sat down on the chair beside him, looking at him with worried eyes. "Did the doctor say something about your health? You know, it's ok because I know that one day you'll grow so big and strong!" She happily exclaimed. "Haha thanks Lou, but I don't think I'm going to get any better soon, the doctor just says the same thing over and over again, my condition isn't getting worse and isn't getting better either.." Nicolas sighed, staring at his neatly prepared breakfast.
Louise sighed too, "If you're thinking about the heir to the throne, I requested to be a temporary ruler while you recover."
Nicolas didn't lose this gaze on the steak, 'Louise is just 15 but she can make decisions like a real Queen, I don't know if I want to give her the throne because I know that she can make good decisions for the people, or not because I heard that past rulers changed drastically when they had all the power.'
"Nicolas" a gentle voice said from the other side of the door.
"Come in Mom"
A well dressed lady came in the room, she had the same hazel brown hair and emerald green eyes as Nicolas. And her very warm smile makes you feel like your in a peaceful rainforest. She is Queen Theresa, the mother of Nicolas and Louise, and is known for the beautiful dresses that she sews herself. And following behind her was.. King Arthur, he seems like a gentleman to others but doesn't treat his own family the same way. He looked at Nicolas with pity and disgust, and Nicolas stared back with burning hate. "What do you want? Please make it quick."
"My dear, we are here because we have made a decision"
"What decision?" Nicolas exclaimed
"You'll never get strong enough to rule this kingdom, so we are sending you off to your grandmother." Arthur carelessly said.
Nicolas felt a shiver up his spine and a wave of realization at the same time. This was his greatest fear, to be thought of as weak and to be separated from his mother and sister
"Ahh! What a beautiful day to pick some flowers!" Anthea happily exclaimed, picking up assorted flowers and placing them into her basket.
"Hey Anthea, did you hear that the prince, Prince Nicolas, is gonna be living in our village?!"
"Yeah.. you've told me that like two weeks ago, Celestia.." Anthea sighed.
Anthea always listens to Celestia rambling about the prince, but neither of them had actually seen what he really looks like, besides the family portrait where he was just an infant. Which makes Anthea wonder why Celestia is so in love with him, when even she doesn't know what he looks like?
"Uh hey? Anthea? You kinda zoned out there.."
"Oh I'm sorry, what were you saying?"
"Eh it's fine, anyways I was saying that what if-"
Celestia stopped dead in her words, and her mouth hanged open. Anthea turned around and saw an exquisite carriage, with a handsome young man driving it.
"Oh my gawd Anthea!!! I think that's him!!" Celestia dropped her flower basket and ran towards the carriage.
"C-celestia! Wait up!" Anthea followed behind her, who's fixing her hair as she runs. The carriage suddenly stops by an alleyway, and Celestia came tumbling after, curtsying politely. "Your high majesty! It is a pleasure to meet you-" Celestia looked up and.. it was a black haired boy, with snow white eyes, and his clothes were all black and scratched up. He scoffed at her and walked into a dark alleyway. "That's.. a handsome but terrifying prince." Celestia whispered to Anthea behind her. "Uh Celestia.. I don't think that's the prince..we need to get going before Madame Avelyn scolds us again." Anthea tugs on Celestia's sleeve, and they both walk back to the flower field. And a few blocks away, Anthea saw the boy come out of the alleyway from the corner of her eye. He casually walked away from the beautiful carriage, and a small old man walked out the shadows, and tore the carriage to pieces, carefully taking the carved gold designs and placing it in a big black bag. Anthea gasped and ran quicker, Celestia tripping behind her. "Hey! What's the hurry Anthea! Wait...up!!!"
Anthea took a left turn, a completely opposite route to the flower field. Celestia closely followed behind her, confused. "Celestia wait here," Anthea said, stopping by the Copper station, "I need to report something to the cops.."
"Anthea! Noo please don't report me I didn't mean to call someone else 'your highness' !!" Anthea looked at the worried and panting Celestia, with a dead serious face. "No Celestia, I'll be reporting someone else." Anthea confidently walked into the Copper, seeing cops working on their desks. She went to a chubby bearded man's desk, and sat on the chair. "Oh, Anthea! It's rare to see you here, what can I do for ya?" He giddly said, eating a sprinkle donut. "I found the guy who steals gold crusted items", Anthea whispered, "I witnessed him a few minutes ago, this time he stole a carriage." The man looked at her with an unsure face, "But we already caught him?" he pointed at a skinny man behind bars, smile that reaches his ears. "What? Does that look like a theif to you? I swear that this person I saw is the real theif!" Anthea argued. "Ok ok Anthea, I'll send out a team to keep a look out in the area. Just don't get yourself too involved in this" The man said, mouth full. Anthea sighed and left. "What did you report?" Celestia asked, walking behind a distressed Anthea.
"Remember that guy you thought was the prince? Well it seems like he illegally sold the carriage, he probably stole it or somethin.."
"Oh.. ok, well we need to get going, we might not be able to make enough flower crowns for the party!"
"What party?"
"Eh? Did I not tell you that? It's Madame Avelyn's birthday today and we will be celebrating tonight, she made us make flower crowns for the guests."
"Oh.. that explains why.."
"Hey Celestia!! Over here! Could you help me with this basket?" A woman shouted from a beautiful cottage house. "Of course Madame Giry! Anthea just go ahead, I'll catch up with you later!" They both say goodbye and head to opposite directions. "Oh Celestia.. Always leaving me with the hard work.." and just as Anthea was about to make a turn, someone grabbed her from behind, covering her eyes and mouth. She could feel like they went somewhere high, then inside a room. The person removed their hands from her eyes, and turned away. Anthea recognized the person by his clothes, it was the carriage theif! Anthea looked for something to defend herself with, and grabbed a flower pot. The boy turned around, and was met with a flower pot smashed into his head. But to Anthea's surprise, he didn't flinch, nor did he fall unconscious, he just stood there, staring at her with his red eyes. He grabbed her hands and pretended to tie an invisible rope around it. Anthea thought he was mentally ill, and pretended to 'break free' but something was actually holding her hands in place.
"I didn't want to do that to you..but you gave me no choice." They boy said in a deep voice.
"What do you want? You mad because I reported you to the cops or what?" Anthea boldly said.
"That's a good theory, but that's not why I took you here." He sat down on a worn out couch. "My apologies, I should've introduced myself, the name's Davalin. And I'm a jynx."
Anthea looked at him in shock, "A jynxed? Like the cursed people with powers?"
"Ouch..I don't like to think of us as 'cursed', let's just say...unfortunate, and yes we have powers" Davalin smiled at her.
"So you haven't answered my question yet..why did you bring me here?"
"It's simple, you have a powerful charm."
"What do you mean?"
"A charm, it's like the opposite of the Jynxed curse, if you'd like, I could teach you how and what your charm is, and the truth this kingdom is trying to hide from us"
Anthea paused, she read a little about the Jynxed people before, but now there's charms? And what truth?
"Could it be that..it was the reason for dad's death?" Anthea asked Davalin with hopefull eyes.
"It is the main reason."
"Ok..then I'm in.."
"Good"
