His Ex Celebrity Bodyguard

Chapter 1 - A fortunate accident

"You're a disgrace to our family!!" Huh, who's that. "I should have never adopted you!!" Funny. I thought I have heard these words before. "Friends? Hah! Don't make me laugh...It sounds ridiculously stupid." I turned around and saw a female silhouette. Of course, it's her. What else...Why should I bother? "I-I'm sorry." I turned again and this time it's a boy, right in front of me. "I have my reasons. I wish I could tell you but this is our final goodbye...Someday I will tell you. Even if it's days, weeks, or even years. I will come back...So long...Astra." What the hell...Why are you even here anyway? You didn't do anything wrong so why....are you leaving like that??

The next thing I knew is that I woke up, on my sleeping mat. Ugh, that nightmare again. "Mommy. Do you have that same dream again?" a small, cute little nine-tailed wolf pup tugged on my nightshirt. "Sigh. I'm fine. Don't worry about me, see??" pumped my fist on my chest. "Oh. Before I forget, pack out our things. We are leaving now." I told the wolf pup. "Why? You don't like to live here anymore?" Wolf pup whimpered. "It's not that. I like living here a lot. It's just that we need to live in a better environment, I need to look for a job and I need to look after you, especially with all those hunters looking for you...." I told him as I cooked breakfast for the two of us. "You don't have to worry about me! I know Kung fu and I want to protect mommy!" the little... wolfie said proudly. "Oh, is that so? Then I will see this Kung fu you have been training about." I jumped to the wolf pup as I threw a kick aimed at his body. As soon as my kick impacted the little pup's body, the little pup slides backward, still standing. Huh, not bad....but not enough to fully withstand my attack! The little wolf pup started to cough blood a little. I went easy on him so that I won't kill him but I guess he's just lazy. Sigh.

My name is Astra with the alias Syaria Kamakura. I have been living in the mountains in seclusion for 10 years. This little nine-tailed wolf is my son, Kairo Midnight. He's the son of my savior, Cronus Midnight. When I first came to the mountains, I met the last pack of nine-tailed wolves. Among them is their leader, Cronus. I was very scared and called him a monster without thinking and ran off through the forest. Of course, the pack would be angry and would have chased me back then but Cronus ordered them not to follow me. Instead, he went after me alone. While I was trying to survive in the wilderness on my own, Cronus had been watching me and helped me learn how to survive secretly. He knew that I might run away again so he....protected me. 5 years ago, while I was relaxing on a tree branch, I heard a loud howl coming from afar right. When I went to investigate what is going on, I saw almost the whole pack lying around the entrance of the cave, not moving at all. What is this? What's going on?! I ran into the cave to investigate further.

As I ran, I saw more bodies of the pack. When I reached the end of the cave, I looked around. Cronus is not there but in front of me, was a newborn nine-tailed wolf pup crying, hiding in the female wolf's arms. I checked her pulse, she's still alive! Great, a survivor! Before I could carry the woman out to safety, she held my arm and said, "Pls don't. Just take my son, Kairo with you. Leave me here" What? Why would she say that?! "Ma'am, I have to take both of you out to safety. Do you even care less about your life?!" the woman sighed and said, "I do care but my husband, Cronus wants me to give this child to you. He wants to pass this message to you. "The night is so dark that even wind can give you the chills like at the entrance of the forest in the mountains. You should make a bigger fire so that it will warm you up even for a small child like you." I was shocked and took a step back. No way. It can't be him! So this was his pack, I thought. "I don't know what happened between you two but what I know is that Cronus seems to care about you, like as if it's his child."Tears ran down my face as I face the shocking reveal. So this whole time, he has been looking after me and I called him a monster...It was so shocking that time that I didn't even know what to do. The wolf woman told me that it's okay to be scared sometimes. You just have to overcome them and then you might be able to be at the top.

5 years ago have passed and I settled here like it was nothing. I studied traditional Chinese medicine even though I don't have a medical license but I'm an expert in this kind of thing. I know the cures for different kinds of incurable diseases. "How could you make me carry all this stuff!?" Kairo shouted. "Let's just say it's part of your training and punishment. You may be strong but you have been slacking off lately. Also, we will be walking like miles away from home so I wished you luck." I smirked. Yea, this is what you get for being lazy.

As we were walking out from the mountain, a car ran by and was about to run over us. I grabbed Kairo and kicked the car to the side of the road. The car hit the tree and crashed.

"Mommy, I think you killed somebody," Kairo said. "Wait what?! You have to defend me for this. I'm innocent!!" Just then, black expensive-looking cars rushed in. Men in black came out and the leader who looks like a thug came in, bringing out their weapons like metal bats, wooden bats with nails stuck to them. Um, I think I'm done for. "Hmm ugh..." the driver, who is a woman who looks like she's in her 20s or 30s tried to wake up from her unconscious state. "Mommy, look! She's still alive!" Kairo shouted. Great! I didn't kill her after all! Ah but first..."You two. Move out of the way if you know what's good for you!" Kairo and I looked at each other for a while and smirked. We team-tagged each other as we go and do our work. "Just don't kill them, Kairo," I told Kairo as I went to the unconscious driver. "Don't worry. I won't!" Kairo replied.

As Kairo was kicking the bad guys' as*es, I used acupuncture on the driver with my custom-made needles. There, that should do for now...I turned around to see if Kairo is done. "Uhhhh. Kai, didn't I tell you not to kill them?" "I didn't, mommy. Plus, they won't it again, right?" The men in black crawled backward and said, "No we won't do it!! I swear!" Among the pile was the leader begging to us and said "W-we won't do it anymore. Can you let us go?"

When the driver woke up and the bad guys running away, the driver got out of the car. "T-thank you for saving me back there." the driver thanked us. "Nah it was nothing, plus, a doctor can't just leave an injured person in trouble. It will destroy the general purpose of us, doctors." "My name is Eve. You looked strong and you have medical skills that may come in handy. I'm looking for a bodyguard for my son so would you pls take my offer?" Eve asked. Are you kidding me? Bodyguard...for your son? Pfft. He must be a scaredy-cat then but it's a job offer so there's no way I can turn it down. I need a job after all. "Sure I accept your offer BUT I stopped treating patients lately, and I prefer keeping my medical skills on a low profile," I told Eve as she was delighted. "Sure, no problem! I accept your conditions!" "Uh, if you don't mind. We also need a place to stay. We just left our hometown." "Oh, is that so? Don't worry! I will purchase a house next to mine so that the three of us can stay in contact." "Thank you, ma'am."

And so the journey begins...

Chapter 2 - Brother...? Is that you?

While we are driving our way to our destination, the driver, Eve, thought, Wait a minute. Why does it feel like we are riding a tractor instead of the car? The responsibility boulder has smashed to my head. Ouch, now I feel bad. I better not say anything about that, especially Kairo. When it comes to being in a low profile, he sucked.

When we reached Eve's house, the house is humongous! Also very fancy! Wait, this is her son's house, stupid! What the hell is wrong with your brain lately! I facepalmed myself for my unconscious stupidity. "Mommy, the house is so big. Are we gonna live here from now on?" Kairo asked as he was being amazed at how big this house was. "No, we're not. We will be living next door so we will be neighbors with them. Also, I will be working there while you try and stay hidden from people about your identity." I replied. "Why do I have to be hidden? It will be boring if I stay at home..." Kairo pouted. Oh, right. About that..."Oh! How about while you work, he will come here and play?" Eve suggests. "Huh? Is that okay, ma'am?" I asked in a worried tone. "Yes. Yes, don't worry! I'm sure your son will agree to this." Eve replied. Sigh. It's not that I'm worried about him being lonely. I'm worried about him being captured, just like last time...

When I came to Eve's house while she sent Kairo to his new home, I looked around. Damn. So luxurious. Her son must a spoiled brat with a sheltered roof. Sigh. What am I gonna do...Is it too late to quit now? Agh, this is too frustrating! "Whos there?" I turned around and saw a wolf boy at the staircase, looking at me with his cold eyes and stare. It gives me the chills. "Who are you and why are you in my house?" the wolf boy asked as he continues to stare at me coldly. Geez. I can't answer if you keep staring at me like that..."First off, stop staring at me like that. It's giving me the chills. Second, you must be the son of Ms. Johnson, right? My name is Astra and I will be your bodyguard starting today." I replied. What?! I told that woman that I don't need a bodyguard to protect me. Ugh! So annoying, he thought angrily. "I don't need a bodyguard. You can tell my mother to quit so that you can leave quietly," the wolf boy replied. WHAT?! I was thinking the same thing but it's not like I have a choice, ok?! This is a rare opportunity! "I'm sorry but I refuse. I need this job anyway so why don't you just leave me alone," I replied, showing him the middle finger. Well, I know that it's rude to someone who looks younger than me so... "Chris! What in the world are you doing?" Eve called out to her son. "Mother, why is this old hag, my bodyguard?" Wh- old hag?! Do I look that old?! How dare he say that! "Excuse me! Who you calling old hag?! Right back at you, spoiled brat!" I shouted. "That's enough!" Eve shouted, silenced her son's mouth by using magic. Wow, I'm impressed. Eve then took her son upstairs. "Please forgive my son's behavior just now. He's always like that" Eve said, smiled. "Uh sure. No problem, ma'am" I replied. Her smile is scaring me...

"How could you say that to your new bodyguard?" Eve scolded, turn her son's mouth back to normal. "Didn't I tell you that I don't need a bodyguard! I can take care of myself." her son replied. "Are you dumb? She saved my life earlier. Plus, she has a son to take care of! There's no point persuading me. She will be your bodyguard, whether you like it or not." Eve replied as she went back downstairs. Ugh, I have to make this woman quit, no matter the cost...

Geez. What the heck are they talking about. I'm not the kind of person who would be poking into other people's businesses but this piques my curiosity. Agh, what are you thinking. Get this thought of me! "Sorry about my son. He's always like that and he hates having bodyguards around which is why many quit" Eve said. So that's why. I can see that we might not be on good terms for the rest of my life. Come to think of it, I don't even know anything about my species. I know I'm a dragon but everyone mistook me for a lizard so I got whacked most of the time when I went to look for a job. Just thinking about it really pisses me off. "Don't worry. I don't mind. I know how to deal with brats like him." I replied. This is gonna be harder than I thought it should be. Sigh, I want to quit now but I can tell that this guy is gonna look down on me for quitting so soon! Ugh, so frustrating! "Is that so? Okay then! You can start working tomorrow. My son will be going to a school called Gacha Innova High School." Eve said as she is worried that I might not be able to handle my job. "Eh? So it will start tomorrow?" I replied as surprised. "Yea. Now go and hang out with your son or adjust to your new home if you want" Eve said as she pushed me out of her house. Eh? What is this woman thinking about? Why is she pushing me out of the door? "Um if that's the case, then I will take my leave then..." I replied as I left Johnson Manor.

When I entered my house, I was really irritated. How can Kairo not put our stuff in the proper places and he's just sleeping on the couch?! "You little brat. Sleeping and not cleaning up the house while I'm gone?" I said angrily, cracking my fists to get ready to beat Kairo. Kairo woke up as soon as he heard my voice. "M-mommy. You're back so soon?" Kairo said, terrified. "I guess the punishment earlier was not enough to teach you a lesson about discipline, huh? Don't worry, I will make a better punishment then" I replied angrily, showing a demon look. 2 hours later, Kairo cleaned up the whole house and stood on a wooden pillar with one leg. "You will stay there until I told you to stop. You can stop when dinner comes. After that, go back to that wooden pillar." I instructed Kairo. "What happens if I fall off the pillar?" Kairo asked as he was being sad about the punishment. "Stand back onto the pillar," I replied as Kairo became shocked. I can't believe my son is becoming even lazier. I feel bad for Cronus. Sigh. I facepalmed myself.

The next day. "Make sure you don't cause trouble, okay?" I told Kairo. "Don't worry. I will behave!" Kairo replied confidently. "Or face the pillar again, okay?" I told him. "Eh heh. Pls, no pillar" Kairo begged. Hah, serves you right! When Kairo went to Eve, I waited for the wolf boy. Whoops, I forgot to ask Eve for her son's name. "Ma'am, before I forget, I would like to ask what is your son's name?" I asked Eve. "Oh, his name is Chris," Eve replied. Chris huh. 10 minutes later...WHAT'S HE TAKING SO LONG?! Is he sleeping or something?! "Mmm. I'll go and get my son. He must be still in his room." Eve told me as she went back to the house. Not long later..."WHO TOLD YOU TO SLEEP SO LATE?! I KNOW YOU ARE DOING THIS ON PURPOSE SO GET YOUR LAZY BUTT OFF THE BED AND GO!!" Eve shouted as her voice pierced through the entire house. Oh wow. I think I better not mess with her then... she's so scary. The next thing I knew is that poor Chris being dragged by his mother and kicked out through the front door. "Don't even think about persuading me just so you could skip school! I'll make sure Astra doesn't get you into any trouble, understand?!" Eve scolded Chris. Chris grumbled and went to the car. "Don't worry, ma'am. I will handle this!" I reassured Eve as I left quickly to catch up. Eve sighed and thought, 'I hope you will survive...once I hired a new bodyguard, my son will make them quit 1 or 2 weeks later. Sometimes even a few days! Pls, don't quit. You're too good for the other jobs here, plus your medical skills are actually traditional Chinese medicine. It was rare around here in Japan for people to learn Chinese medicine...most of the doctors here learn Western medicine and most of the medical schools don't learn Chinese medicine. It's best to keep her here than quit. I guess...I can kind of understand why she wants her medical skills on a low profile.' She sighed again and was dazed for a moment.

When we arrived at the school, the car was parked at the front entrance of the school. What a show-off..."Once we are inside, don't get too close to me, or else there would be rumors flying around. It will taint my image." Chris told me. What about me then?! I'm 5 years older than you for goodness sake! I'm the one who will stand out more than you! As we walk through the hallway, I followed Chris from a distance. Classes have already started so I guess that was kind of lucky. When we reached the principal's office, which is the study room, while we are waiting for the principal, Chris strikes the first conversation. "Once we are done here, stand outside the school and wait until I'm did schooling," Chris said. EXCUSE ME?! HELL NO! If rumors spread, don't even think about coming here, crying to me! "Sorry, but your orders are something that I would rather not follow," I replied. "Are you talking back to me?" Chris said coldly, getting ready to slap me. "What's with all the racket?" a voice said coming from the door to the office. "Are you Chris Johnson?" the voice asked. He was a young man, probably in his 20s, with dark and slight light blue hair, has fox ears, and 9 tails, with a worker suit. So, he's a nine-tailed fox but his tails are so different from ordinary. I remember that my brother has the tails back then, tails that glow vividly. It was a good lamp for me to sleep, I have to admit. Hehe. Just thinking about it reminds me of my brother...tears fall off my eyes and the next thing I knew, the fox man wiped my tears while I'm still in a daze. "Why are you crying? Did something happened?" the fox man asked. I lifted my head and managed to look at the fox man's face-up close. W-what? What is this? Why does- Why does he look so much like my brother?! Why?! "It's good to see you again...sister." the fox man said in a calm and soft voice. No way...It cant be. "Brother...? I-is that you?" I asked in a sad tone. The fox man smiled and hugged me. I cried happily.

This was just the beginning. Many surprises, obstacles in my life coming our way...

Chapter 3 - What are you doing here?!

Jaxon Sung, the youngest successful principal in the whole world. He owns many schools and Gacha Innova High School is one of them. He's also a member of the 3-boy band called the Heartbreakers, Drummer, and Music Composer. I can't believe he is that successful. Agh, damn it. I thought we would be in the same boat but I got my high hopes too much!! AAAAAAAAHHH!!

"Here is your schedule, Chris. Why don't you leave first and head to class? I want to catch up with my sister." Jaxon said to Chris.

"Ah, okay. I will be heading out then" Chris replied as he bowed and quickly left the study. "How have you been, sister? You changed quite a lot that I almost didn't recognize you," Jaxon said. Easy for you to say! I barely recognize you at all!

"Oh, is that so? May I ask how are you holding up with 'mom'?" I asked as I changed the tone when I reached the word 'mom'. "That old hag never changed. But dad..." Jaxon said as he paused halfway.

"W-what. What happened to dad?" I asked as I shivered. I had a bad feeling about that topic and that I never should have mentioned about dad. Jaxon paused for a moment and then moved his head down.

"Dad. He disappeared." Jaxon said. What? Dad...disappeared? How can it be?

"How did-?" I asked as Jaxon stopped my conversation.

"That one, I don't know why. He secretly left a letter to me and the letter said that he might not be able to come back. He had work that even my mother doesn't know about. I don't even understand it back then. Ever since you ran away, things didn't go well. Mom and dad were arguing, yelling, and screaming. I overheard dad said, asking for a divorce and take me with him but mom refused and threatened him by using...me." Jaxon told me his whole story. Why. Why does he have to suffer like that? and dad too. Him divorcing mom is a good choice but he can't.

"I'm so sorry that I made you suffer like that. It's all because I ran away from home, just to escape mom's abuse..." I whimpered as tears fall out of my eyes.

"Wh- hey, don't be sad. It's not your fault. Now that I told my story, mind if you could tell me yours? It won't be fair if it's just me." Jaxon said as he smiled sadly. When I told him my story, he was shocked, angry, guilty, and pitiful.

"I can't believe that woman is the one who destroyed your career, betrayed you, and almost killed you. Not only that, you broke up with your boyfriend...It seems you suffered more than me, sis. So that's why you are with Chris. You're his bodyguard but to me, it seems that you are not on good terms on your first day of work." Jaxon said and put a crooked smile.  Is this supposed to be comfort or sarcasm? Sigh.

"If you are trying to comfort me, then don't even think about it. I know that you are really bad when it comes to women." I replied.

"That kinda hurts, you know. Anyway, back to business. What you were saying earlier was that you need to blend into the school so that it could help you and Chris to survive through his school life. Well, I have a solution to this problem. You need to become..." Jaxon said as I focused on his idea.

"I HAVE TO BE WHAT NOW?!" I shouted as my yelling pierced throughout the whole school building.

As Chris was waiting outside of his classroom for his homeroom teacher to come, I walked in, feeling enraged. Dammit, Jaxon! THIS is your solution?! I'm digging my own grave right now! Agh! Teaching is never my specialty! I might suck at it! "Hm? Why are you here? Didn't I tell you to stand outside at the school's main entrance?" Chris asked as he frowned at me. Do you think I want to do this?! I want to get the hell out of this place! "Do you think I have a choice? The principal assigned me as your homeroom teacher temporarily" I replied frustrated at the situation that I'm in right now. Sigh. I want to go home...

Time has passed as school is finally over. Aaaah my back.

"I can't believe that I have a second job now...tho it was only temporary. Hmm. Say, where is that bratty punk, Chris? He should be outside at the school's main gate by now..." Wait a minute. Did he ditch me? Dammit! Why else would he be missing?! Of course, he would be like that, just to make my life a living hell! Just then, I heard a voice coming from the right side of the school. It's......girl screams? Why would they be over......there? Oh. There he is. He's just fooling around with his fans, fangirls, or whatnot. Anyway, I should go there before he nags at me for who knows how long.

"Chris~ If it's alright with you, do you want to hang out with our group? We were from the same school so I thought that we might be friends." the black-haired fangirl asked in a tone from a girl screeching from the inside.

"Uhh," Chris muttered.

"Geez. You can't even handle your fans now? I thought you are some tough guy back at home but I guess you should never judge a book by its cover, huh? I said as I walked towards Chris as I make my way through a pile of girls that I care less about.

"You-! Are you mocking me?" Chris said angrily, pointing his finger at me. At least I can avoid the middle finger. I ignored his nagging and the girls' whispers, then I carried Chris like a baby although it felt kind of weird, to be honest...

"Wh-what are you doing?!" Chris shouted. Agh my eardrums!

"Calm down, will ya?! I'm trying to get you out of this flock of pigeons!" I replied as Chris's fans became shocked.

"P-pigeons?! Did this auntie just called us, pigeons?" one of the fans said angrily. A-auntie?! Am I that old to you?! Sheesh, no respect for someone who is like 5 years older than you!

"Doesn't matter whether you like it or not. I will still carry you to the car so LETS SCOOT!" I said as I quickly run to the car, carrying Chris in my arms. Little did I know that Chris became a little flustered and blushed a little as he covers his face. 'Dammit. Why does my chest stings?' Chris thought.

When we finally reached home, I laid back on the sofa. I was exhausted! "Mommy. How is your first day of work?" Kairo asked as he approached me.

"I'm fine. It's just that Mrs. Johnson's son turned out to be a brat than a scaredy-cat! That aside, have you worked on your kung fu?" I asked as I turned to Kairo.

"Uhhh I have been having too much fun with Auntie Eve," Kairo muttered as he tries to glance somewhere else to avoid eye contact. This guy-! Sigh. I can't stop him. He's still a child so he needs to have some fun as one, like the other kids, except at school. I cant send him there or else his identity will be exposed then we have to run again. Kairo doesn't want that and neither do I so it's best for him to not go to school at all...

"Mommy, how are we going to find Dad?" Kairo asked. Eh? What kind of question is that?

"Why do you wanna know? Where did you get this kind of question?" I asked as I pinched his cheeks.

"Mmm. I was thinking that you should get me a new daddy. You have been working hard too much." Kairo replied. Uhm is he even 5 years old? This little-

"Your Mommy is gonna go visit your Uncle Jaxon since I don't even have any business here," I said as I get ready to leave the house.

"Why can't I go?" Kairo asked.

"You......go work at the pillar" I smirked as I quickly left the house. "HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO YOUR OWN SON?! Mommy, come back!!" Kairo yelled as he chased after me but failed to do so.

At Jaxon's house.

"It's good to see you again, sister! I hope we can catch up on our 10 years of separation" Jaxon said happily as soon as he saw me.

"Do you think that you can get away with what you did earlier??" I asked as I was cracking my fists, getting ready to beat my brother.

"WAIT WAIT WAIT!! I'm sorry! Pls, don't beat me!" Jaxon replied in a panic.

"Sorry is not gonna fix anything!! Come back here!" I yelled as I started chasing him around the house.

Just then, someone came into the house without us knowing and said "Jaxon, I'm back from work. What are you doing right n-"

And without notice, Jaxon slide underneath him and hid. As I continue running, I accidentally bumped into him and fell on top of him. Great. Just great. I'll just go and apologize first.

"Sorry. I didn't see you there. I hope I didn't hurt you anywhere!" I apologized.

"Wha- Astra? Is that you?" the man said, surprised. Huh? How does he know my name? When I opened my eyes to take a look. I was shocked. What the-?!

"What are you doing here?!" I said in an angry tone.
