Lucas P.O.V.

"No!! I will never do anything you want me to do Dad!"

I run out of the house without turnıng back as my Dad screams non stops behind me, "You come back here young Man, right now." I could still hear his voice faintly as I ride my bicycle towards my school.

It's kind of an everyday routine now, My man has been telling me to work on my powers cause I'm at the age now? Or something *chuckles*

I reach my destination, yet this place is my least favorite place to be. Well not because I hate studying or anything. Sometimes it's too much to handle but you know you have to go through like a normal person. Isn't it?

As I park my bicycle I hear Maria's voice, "Hey dummy..!" I ignore her for a sec coz I wanted to irritate her. And it worked.

"Hello there!! Where on earth were you last night? I tried to call yet you didn't pick up. Again" She comes running at me well yeah she is angry but she is cute at times like this.

Well she is my bestfriend, and who doesn't like to irritate your bff a little.

"I'm sorry; I totally forgot to reply. It's just that it's been a week that I'm having this nightmare. I can't get my mind wrapped on it, it looks real everytime."

"Well you can tell your Dad about it. Maybe he knows something about it." She looks at me with the concerning eyes again.

"No, let's just keep it that way for now."

"Okay, whatever you say dummy" I nod at her and we walk past our playground. As I'm about to reach the doors I get hit by something. "Ouch, WTF..!!" Oh it's a football, that means....

"Yo, dude we are soo sorry, I guess it didn't hit your head too hard or anything right?" I look up to see who threw the damn ball at me even though knowing who he was. I can recognise that voice.

"Oh, hey Spencer! N..N..Not at all." He is the one who has been bullying me from childhood, It's like its his mission for life to annoy and hurt me. What an asshole.

"Cool NERD!!" He laughs and knuckles my head and walks away. "What an asshole and why don't you stand up for yourself? And not let him bully you."

"Have you not seen thus guy?? His double my size. He can take me down with his powers. Or not."

"But for how much long? You have to use your powers okay, or you might get in serious trouble and even I won't be a help. Then what are you gonna do? Just take the blows?"

"I don't know, okay It's just I never chose this life for me It's not I ever wanted. I just want to live a normal life. Is it a lot I'm asking for? And please let's not start again, you know how that ends."

She stops and turn around so that we are face to face. "You can always change Lucas, I know one day you will come around for sure. You too are strong, its just that you don't want to use your magical powers. But one day you will find a reason to use it."

"Never gonna happen." Looking down I walk past her, leaving her to the corridors, could feel I might burst out.

But... 'One day you will find a reason to use it.'

I can't stop thinking about what she said earlier, kept on repeating untill the last bell rings. *Sigh*

'Will I ever change?'

'And what if I turn to be an evil one?'

The thoughts comes flooding in as I ride my bike back home.

Maria's P.O.V.

"One day you will find a reason to use it." I said as he snapped in frustration, "Never gonna happen." And left me alone, yet I could sense his frustration. Well saw that coming.

I see him walk inside the class, "When will you understand, idiot. You can be strong too. If only you could see what I see." I say to myself as I enter my class.

I hear the last bell ring and I rush out to catch him so we could walk home together.

"Oh dear, Lucas left the class just a minute ago, he looked distracted though, I mean the whole time." Said Prof. Hault our students council professor. "Thank you sir." I smiled and left.

I started messaging him on the way,

Me: "Why didn't you wait up? I coming near the parking lot wait for me."

Lucas: "I need to be alone rn. Talk later."

Did I crossed the line again or something? This happens everytime when we talk about it.

Me: "Okay fine. See you tomorrow then. You know I'll be here for you right? Anyways take care."

This guy is my bestfriend yet I too can't understand him sometimes.

'Why is he so difficult to understand?' I thought to myself while I stare at the night sky.

"The sky feels empty today." I say as I watch the whole neighborhood sleep silently.

Lucas P.O.V.

I knew I pissed her off, she hates when I do it.

Me: "I need to be alone rn. Talk later."

Maria: "Okay fine. See you tomorrow then. You know I'll be here for you right? Anyways take care."

Yes she cares about me, but sometimes I need to be alone to think.

I reached home and plop on my bed as I take a nap.

"Lucas, come down here let's have dinner." My dad shouts out from downstairs. I think I should get ready for the scolding for what happened this morning. *Sighs*

"Hmmm, smells good." I nervously smile as I see dad arranging the table. He didn't say anything, wow, a silent treatment then.

After having dinner, washed the dishes and as I walk through the stairs, "Wait son." I hear him say and I look at him. "You know I want you to be safe out there right! You are no kid anymore, you have to develop your powers so that you can protect yourself from the dangers out there."

I could feel his concern, yet I snap "And you obviously know that I always want to be normal, not a supernatural being."

"I know, I was once like you son. But we have to be responsible for the powers we have within us. I know this is not what you wanted your life to be. I won't force you but whenever you are ready I'm here. I'm always here for you." He smiled and went back to the kitchen.

I lay on bed as I recall what Maria and Dad said to me. Maybe they are right. Maybe its time. The thoughts just clouds in my head as I fall asleep.

[Note:

Lucas has been suffering from 'Dream anxiety disorder', a sleep disoder characterized by frequent nightmares. At a very young age he has been having this frequently vivid dreams, like he is in the dream.

This dreams started when he was once lost in a forest. The further story will explain how exactly the dream is and how it started. ]

Lucas P.O.V

I thought this time i'll have a good sleep but, 'Why is it cold suddenly?' I think, when I realised it's finally happening. My nightmare.

The same old forest the deep path in the middle of nowhere. As i'm about to turn back, it's the same scream that I hear every time. As always I don't turn back and just start to run. But this time the screams are louder and at a higher pitch.

I make the stupidest decision to turn around and walk to tie path where the screams are coming from. I immediately regret my decision, but there's no turning back this time

"AHHHHHHHHHHH" I Tremble, and yet again pin drop silence. It's getting darker and darker, and suddenly I hear a twig break in distance. I follow the noise but to my horror I see a girl tied up a tree, blood all over her beige dress, the blood is on the ground too as I see the blood dripping from her body.

"h..help...helppp me" ,gulped to the voice it was familiar. With all the courage I asked, "Who are you?" as soon as I say this, she tilted her head up to face me.

My eyes widen, I was frozen at my place, I couldn't believe who I was looking at. "NO...NO." I fall down in horror, sweating profusely.

"LUCAS, son wake up... please wake up." I hear my dad's voice and just jolted up from my bed. My body was dripping in sweat, hands shaking, and tears filled in my eyes. "SON! what happened?" as soon as I hear my dad's voice again I just hugged him tight, crying out loud, "I regret it, I regret it all. I shouldn't have turned back." With all the sobs in between

I felt tired and closed my eyes again, drifting back to sleep, still shaking in disbelief as to what I saw. This time it was the worst nightmare I have ever had before.

Maria P.O.V.

I never felt this nauseous ever before, l ignore the feeling and go back to sleep. I hear a huge thud downstairs and hear whispers and I think I heard a low growl or something too,  "MOM!? Is that you?" there was no answer, just complete silence.

I move from the bed and walk down the stairs, but it was pitch black and I couldn't see anything without my glasses. The window near the couch looks to be open but I had closed them before going bed,  'Huh that's weird' As i thought to myself, I went to close it.

As I was about to close the window I hear a low growl just behind me. The back of my hair stood up, as I tremble in fear.

"W..wh...who is it?" I wanted to turn around and see who it was but I couldn't. I was about to turn but something caught my eyes, I could see my reflection on the window but I could also see somene else too.

I was about to turn and look for it but the next thing I know I was on the ground unconscious.
