Chapter 1- Phantom Pokemon
Red talking to his Poliwhirl

Okay, buddy! We have officially signed up for the Indigo League. Soon we will be facing strong Trainers all around Kanto!

Don't worry, buddy! You and I can defeat anyone who dares to fight us! We're the best!!
Nearby a girl is trying to catch a Nidorino

Oh my Arceus!! Just get inside the Poke Ball already!!
Red

Come on, buddy. Let's help her out.
Kelly

Red
You have to weaken the Pokemon before you attempt to capture it.

Red and Poli defeated Nidorino and captured it for Kelly.

Kelly heals Red's Pokemon and then leaves.

What should we do now, buddy? Hmm.... How about we find some Trainers in the forest.
On the way to Pallet forest it suddenly starts raining and as he starts running, he bumps into a Team Rocket grunt.

That guy has Poke Balls on him. He must be a Pokemon Trainer!
While walking in the Pallet Forest

(in mind) Huh...!? I could've sworn there was something behind me.
When Red turns around he sees Mew
Red tried to stop it, but it disappeared.

While going deeper into the forest, Red sees Mew again.
Red
That's the Phantom Pokemon!!
Red goes near it. Somebody is already battling it.
Red
(in mind) Damn it!! Someone beat me to it!
Charmander and Mew are battling
Red runs towards the trainer.
Red
What are you doing?
You almost had it! Out of my way, it's my turn!
Then Red battles Mew and losses

Couldn't you tell from the battle I just had that it was stronger than me? That's why I called back my Charmander.

You have to know your limitations. Otherwise, you are only beating yourself.
Then that trainer goes away
