It was a late evening, the sun began to go down and the wind howled as the trees moved side to side. Their was a small cottage in the forest, surrounded my trees and a pond. A mother and father lived their with their only daughter. "Mom, can I go play outside," the little girl spoke, pulling at her mothers dress. "Sweetie, you know you can't play outside. It's too dangerous." the mother spoke while cutting some freshly picked apples. "But mom! Why is it so dangerous, you never tell me." the young girl pouted, with her arms crossed.
"Okay fine, I'll tell you. Let me get your father." The women placed the apple and knife on the table, before heading out of the kitchen to get her husband. The little girl waited patiently and grabbed a apple slice from the table. Her mother and father came back. They all sat on the chairs around the table. "Sweetie, remember I told you that we are fairies," the little girl nodded her head quickly. "That's why I'm able to talk to animals, right?" The young girl said. Her mother nodded to her. Then her father spoke. "And because we are fairies, it is very dangerous if anyone found us. Some people want to take our powers and kill us, that is why we must hide." The man spoke calmly, waiting for a reaction from the young girl. "But all people aren't like that, right?"
The man looked towards his wife to continue. "Unfortunately, the world is like this. They want to take our powers for themselves, because our powers are great. And I will tell you once again Scarlet-" The you girl named Scarlet stared in her mothers eyes, listening to every word. "-be careful, and do not trust anyone." Scarlet nodded quickly.
Later that night, while everyone was sleeping, and unknown group of people broke in. Scarlet and her parents slept peacefully, unaware of what was about to happen. Scarlet woke to the sound of her parents yelling. Her mother ran into the room with a panicked expression on her face. "Scarlet get up, we have to go!" Scarlet quickly jumped out of her bed, stumbling because of the sudden movement. Her mother grabbed her frail arm and dragged her out of the room. Just before they left the room, Scarlet grabbed her stuffed rabbit. They ran down the stairs. Scarlet spotted her father shapeshifting into a large wolf trying to hold back the intruders. Some fairies like her father had the power to shapeshift into other animals. When they got downstairs they breathed in smoke. The house was set on fire and the fire was spreading fast. They coughed as they ran out the door.
Scarlet's mother carried her and they ran from the house into the woods. Scarlet stared at the burning house. "Dad!" Scarlet screamed, seeing that her father wasn't coming out of the house. "Shh sweetie, be quiet. We don't want them to find us." Her mother stopped running after a while and placed Scarlet on the ground. "Scarlet, listen to me. Keep running, past the lake, you will see your grandma's house. Go to her, okay. I'm going to try and help your father." Scarlet's mom kneeled down and hugged her tightly, "I love you sweetie, okay?" Scarlet nodded her head, "I love you too mom." She hugged her mother tightly, still holding on to the stuffed bunny.
They both broke the hug and Scarlet's mother wiped away the tears on Scarlet's cheeks. "Remember to stay hidden." Her mother said before standing up. "Go, run to your grandma." Hazel hesitated before turning around and running. She looked back and saw her mother waving her hand with tears running down her face. Scarlet hugged her stuffed bunny tightly, while tears fell from her eyes. She ran as fast as her little legs could carry her. She looked back once more, but her mother was no longer there.

**Hello! This is my new story. I hope you all like it. This is just the prologue. The next chapters will be much longer. Please like and comment\, I love to read all your comments. **
I walked around the market, blending into the crowd of people. I was wearing a brown cloak, with a hood covering my hair. It was dangerous to be out here, but at this time of year their was hardly any vegetables and fruit growing at our house. I stopped at a small stall scanning the vegetables. Once I found the ones I wanted, I walked to the shop owner and purchased them. I had healing powers which meant that I could heal anything, and could even make the vegetables grow, but I have been unable to use my power. I still needed practice to control the power before I could officially use it.
After buying what I needed, I quickly ran back to the house. I made sure no one was following me before heading into the woods. I ran quickly, the cloak flowing behind me. I saw my house up ahead and ran towards it. "Grandma, I'm home!" I yelled, while taking off my cloak. "Oh Scarlet, it took you so long, I started to worry about you," She said while poking her head out from the kitchen.
"Sorry grandma, their was so many people there today." I walked into the kitchen to see my grandma baking some cookies. "Mmm, it smells good in here," I said, breathing in the wonderful scent.
"Of course it smells good, it's my cookies," my grandma smiled, arrogantly. I laughed at her words. I set the food on the table and we began to cook some food.
We lived a fairly normal life, like other human. Although we lived far from the market, we had humans who would wonder here and it was to dangerous to have them see me using powers. Luckily we didn't live near any supernaturals, such as vampires and werewolves, they would be able to figure out that me and my grandma were fairies. Where we lived was for commoners and most supernatural lived in higher areas and better places.
Once we finished eating, I decided to go for a walk. "See you grandma, I'll be back soon," I called out to her as I threw my cloak on. "Ok, be careful out there." She yelled back to me from the living room. I walked out the front door breathing in the cold air. I kept my hood on as I walked through the forest. I was 18 and had silver hair and bright green eyes, which is why I had to wear the cloak. If I didn't hid my hair it would give away that I was a fairy. Although we lived mostly near human, humans still knew that us supernaturals existed. I missed my parents who died when I was younger, grandma was the only family I had left now.
I walked through the forest, on a trail. I looked to the sky and saw some dark clouds, it was about to rain. Maybe I should try my powers now, its not like any humans would be out at this time. I looked around the forest, spotting a flower that hadn't bloomed yet. I crouched down and put my hands toward it. I focused my energy on the flower and slowly, a green mist and particles came from my hands, and flowed to the flower. The flower began to open but soon closed. I sighed when the green mist disappeared and the flower closed back to its original state. I tried once more, taking a deep breath and shutting my eyes tightly, I focused all I could on the flower. I opened my eyes again, seeing the green mist flow towards the flower. The flower began to bloom and this time, it didn't close back up.
Finally with one last push, the flower bloomed completely. "Yes!" I yelled in excitement. I finally did it. Some remaining particles floated around the flower, but gradually disappeared. I couldn't wait to tell grandma. I got back up and rain started to fall. "I should get back soon," I whispered to myself. Let me try one more thing. I held my hand out as the rain fell. My cloak was soaked in water, but I had to try this. I focused once again on the water. I felt drops of rain fall on my hand. I cupped my hand in order to get more water into my hands. I closed my hands with the water inside and tried to hold it. The water started dripping from my hand but I tried to stay focused.
Blue particles came from my hand and once I opened my hand, their was a ball of water, that looked almost like clear jello in my hand. It didn't last long and fell apart, back into water. I smiled, happy that I was able to manipulate the water, even if it was just for a moment. This is amazing, I never got the chance to practice, and I wasn't horrible at it either. The rain grew worse, I need to go now. I hurryingly ran back to the house. I breathed heavily when I got inside the house. "Grandma I'm home!" I yelled, but was met with silence.
I put the coat down and walked in the house. "Grandma," I called once again, but their was nothing. I walked into the house quietly and looked in every room. I stood at the last room door, it was her bedroom. I took a deep breath and opened the door. I was met with a sight, I could never forget. An unknown man stood over my grandmother holding her lifeless body in his hands. From where I stood, I couldn't see his face. I stepped back in horror, accidently bumping into the wall causing him to turn around. The second he turned around, I knew what he was, a vampire. He had blood dripping from his mouth, specifically fairy blood, which was a blue color.
I quickly turned around and ran. I heard him drop my grandma to the floor and the tears took over. I shook my head trying my hardest not to cry. I could hear his foot thumping behind me. I need to get out of here. I ran out of the house and before I knew it, I released my wings. My wings looked like a birds wings but were enormous and a black color that transitioned into red. Just as I got in the air, I felt the vampire grip my ankle. "Let go of me!" I screamed struggling to get him to let go. I flapped my wings once more with as much power as I could and he finally released me. Once I was in the air, I tried my best to stay within the forest. "Where am I suppose to go now?" I questioned, and the tears started falling once more. I wasn't able to protect my grandma, and now she's gone.
