On a cold dark room, under the veil of the moon.

The cold breeze of night softly swept across her face.

Helena slightly shuddered and decided to shut the windows.

Helena softly sighed as she draped the blanket up to her neck.

Slowly eaten by tiredness, Helena closed her eyes and  traveled towards the world called 'dreamland'

Wearing an all black Gothic style uniform, with the skirts reaching her knees Helena stood in front of a human-sized mirror.

Her jet black hair was unrestrained giving an aloof air around her.

Her porcelain-like skin, a slightly blushing cheeks and a thin red lips.

Helena tilted her head and wore her glasses adding into her aloof demeanor.

"Yosh" Helena exclaimed and turn around to pick her bag.

It's already 7:05 in the morning which means Helena still got 55 minutes before class.

As soon as I finished preparing for school, I rushed down the stairs and went straight towards the dining area.

I grabbed the glass full of milk and gulped it quickly.

"Hija, take a sit and enjoy the food. Why must you be in a hurry?"

An old man seating at the middle of a medium-sized dining table with a magazine on his hand spoke.

I smiled and shook my head. "I have to hurry pops, I still have my student council duty"

The old man slowly nodded his head as he sipped his cup of coffee. "You're always like that. When are you going to quit? You're losing quite a lot of time because of that student council duties of yours"

This man, Heneroso Fabian, was my late father's father and the only family I have.

My parents died in an attack 3 years ago, I was 14 years old at that time. At tanging ang lolo ko na lamang ang naiwan kasama ko. My lolo's old at the age of 61 but he's still strong and active. Having him still working his *** out proves it.

"Pops, weren't you the one who told me if I ever started doing something, I must have the guts to finish it?"

I asked him with face full of smiles. Pops nodded his head and sighed. "You're right. Well, just remember not to overwork and exhaust yourself darling"

I raised an eyebrow as I picked a piece bread. "That same goes for you pos. Anyway, I have to go"

I bid and hurried outside shoving the piece of bread unto my mouth.

"Let's go kuya" I kindly asked the family driver and had him sent me to school.

If you're wondering if my family's rich, the answer is no. We're not rich but at least we are able to buy the stuffs we want for ourselves and that is because of my pops and dad's hard work.

In this society, there are four levels of the pyramid. At the top, was the rulers of this world, at the second level were the richest and nobles, at the 3rd were the not so rich, not so powerful but cannot be neglected, in short Average. And at the last level were the common people. We obviously belong to the 3rd level.

As I arrive in front of the school gates, I stepped out and grabbed my things with me as I bid my farewell to Kuya Noli, our driver.

"Good morning vice-pres"

I curved my lips upwards as a member of student council greeted me. I slightly bowed my head and returned her greetings "Good Morning Lucas, are you heading to the office too?"

Lucas Aguire is a student council committee and is in-charge of peace and order.

"Yes. Shall we go together?" He smiled as he asked me. "Sure" I answered and we both headed towards the student council office.

"So how's your duty Lucas? Everything's fine so far?" I initiated the conversation. It's not like I cannot stay still without saying a single word but as someone who had higher position than him, I kinda have the urge to do so.

"Everything's fine Vice-pres. Though, troubles are still there but I can handle it just fine"

I smiled and nodded my head. As soon as we arrived at the student council office, I immediately arrange my things and started working.

Lucas, on the other hand, left the place with his underlings to do the usual morning task.

Completely absorb in my own world, I almost didn't noticed the door creeks open. I raised my head and saw the President entered the office and went straight to his table.

He nodded, I nodded in response. Well this is how we greet each other. I don't know why but I just can seem to get along with him.

As if there was thick invisible barrier between us hindering us from getting along with each other. Having these thoughts, I shrugged my shoulders and resume doing my work.

It was almost time for class when I finished my report and handed it to the president. "Here's the complete data for this years' participant pres."

He took the papers from my hand and slowly nodded his head. "Thanks."

I nodded my head and grabbed my bag. "I'll leave first pres" I excused myself and ran towards my first class.

My duty's rather exhausting but I enjoyed doing it a lot so no matter what I ain't gonna quit.

I saw the teacher getting inside the classroom the same time as me so I rushed towards my seat.

"That was close" My friend, Allison muttered. I smiled and sighed in relief. "Yeah, that was"

Well it's not like I'd be punished if I ever got in late. I am a student council member and we obviously had a lot of privileges. And one of those is, you won't be punished if you're late or you skip class because of your student council duty.

Being a student council member has a lot of privileges but the same goes for the criteria of becoming one.

To be able to enter the student council, one must have the following criteria: High grades, background, talent and skills .

And I fortunately got those criteria with me.

Allison started dragging me towards the cafeteria as soon as the class ended. I let her dragged me as she want since I also feel hungry for I only ate one bread for breakfast.

We were lining up to get our food when multiple shrieks ranged inside the cafeteria. I and Allison both turn our heads to see what was going on.

"What the.." I was about to curse when Allison stare daggers at me. Allison really hates it when I cursed so I stuffed my words back in my throat.

Group of students where in the middle of the cafeteria making troubles again. I immediately went there to meddle but a guy made it faster than me. It was Lucas' underlings.

"Stop this instant!" The man, named Andrew, roared angrily. The hall fell silent as soon as they heard Andrew's domineering voice.

"What happened here?" The guys beside Andrew, Niko asked the crowd. A student stepped up and narrated what happened. It was a typical student face-off to see who has the greater strength. I clicked my tongue and slowly made my way in the middle of the crowd.

"The school had no rules that forbid everyone from battling with each other but it was clearly written in the school handbook that places such as cafeteria, library and any place that students possibly gathered together cannot be used as fighting arena. I believe everyone of you knows this rule no?"

I slowly spoke as my lips slightly curved upwards. The two student who went rampage a while ago both lift their head and glared at me. I raised my brows and smile. Being glared is very common nowadays for me. As if that'll make scare, idiots.

"What? You're still not going to scram? Should I put your names on the blacklist and let you know what's the consequences of not abiding the rules? Or should I have you guys taste a large dose of regrets? " I once again spoke and asked the idiots. They gritted their teeth and left the place as fast as they can.

"Thank you for that Vice pres" Andrew smiled and I shook my head in response "No need to thank me. It was my duty. Anyways, I'll leave the rest to you guys" I smiled as I asked them to clean the place up.

That kind of commotion usually happens inside the school premises and as the time goes by we're getting used to it and how to handle it was already easy fo us.

Allison was standing at the back of the crowd with 2 trays on her hand. She smiled and pointed her chin on the ither tray which contains the food.

"I got your food for you, Helena" I smiled and took it from her hand "Thanks beautiful" She blushed and softly humped. I laugh as we both choose a table for us to eat our food.

"Hey Helena, regarding this year's institutional tournament, why isn't there any news about it yet? When will you guys going to announce it?" Allison asked.

"Hmm we're still working on it. We have yet to gather all the relative informations about this year's participant but announcing it will happen soon" I answered and took another mouthful of food.

Allison nodded "I bet last year's power 10 will remain on the list tho." Allison concluded. I shrugged my shoulders and smile "Not necessarily. Who knows"

Allison shot her brows up and asked "Why? some changes on the rankings? Or any potential strong contenders?"

I slowly nodded my head "Yeah there is but it's still not finalize though. We'll see in the future" I grinned.

"You're going already?" Lucas asked me the moment he saw me fixing my things. I smiled and nodded my head. "Yeah, it's getting late already. I'm afraid I'll meet some trouble if I don't go home early"

I answered. Lucas nodded his head and tapped my shoulder "Alright, be careful on your way Vice pres"

I smiled and waved my hand goodbye. It's already 6 pm and the moon's getting visible already.

Not from afar, a black vehicle was parked in front of the school gate. "Let's go kuya" I asked Kuya Noli.

I took one last glance at the school before completely leaving the place.

Helios Institution is where I study. This is one of the most prestigious aristocratic school in the continent. Helios Institution is well known for being sort of a gangster school. Most of the students here are from the noble families.

Nobles from all over the country likes to send their children in this school for this is the only aristocratic school which gives leniency towards the students. You cannot be easily accepted in this school if your background and situation isn't qualified for this school's requirements.

As for the deeper details, we'll get to it soon.

I went inside the house and took my dinner as pops and I talked about the occurence of the day and plans for the future. This is how our dinner goes like.

After getting enough time to rest and let our stomachs digest the food, Pops sent someone to call for me and do the usual.

It's kind of exhausting but it was always fun and fulfilling.

"Wahhh. Pops, do you think I've improved?" I asked as I wiped the sweats on my forehead. My pops who didn't , not even the slightest, sweat at all smiled and showed me his fingers. "Just this little" He answered showing me his thumb and index finger measuring my improvements.

I sighed and nodded my head "I see. Guess, should work a little harder" I smiled. "Nah no rush darling. You're quite good already compared to others"

Pops tried comforting me and I smiled. I know I'm not yet that good, I still have a long  way to go and pops was only comforting me.

He's honest and I know when he said a little, it was true. I sighed.

I really need to work harder..

"In 2 weeks time, I want all of your cooperation for the upcoming Institutional Tournament"

The student council which was composed of 8 people have gathered in one room. These 8 people were consist of the President, Vice-Pres, Treasurer, Secretary, PIO, and the 3-man peace and order committee.

"And has the representatives of each year  already informed?" The president added without removing his eyes from the papers he had on his hand. The PIO nodded her head. "Yes Pres. I already did as you told"

My lips slightly twitched when I notice something off from the way she spoke. Or was it just me?  "By the way, the finalized list of this year's tournament has already been forwarded to Institution council. Should I make  preparations  for the announcement?" I asked.

The President nodded his head and shot a glance towards me "Yes. I'll leave it to you, Vice Pres"

I smiled and nodded my head. "However, the council made an arrangement for us Pres" I added. It was quick and almost unnoticeable but I saw his brows wrinkled indicating for me to continue.

"Both the President and Vice President are not to participate in this year's competition" I slightly sighed. Well it's not like I wanted to participate but I think it's fun to exchange notes with other students right?

He averted his gaze and resumed to his work. "As I guessed." I sighed again hearing his answer.

Except for making announcements and stuff, this ice block President of mine rarely speaks more than 5 words. I am actually starting to wonder if he found it hard to speak more words.

15th day of the 9th month of year 198: Institutional Tournament for Power 10

To be held at Helios Institute Arena.

All qualified students who received the invitation are deemed qualified to participate.

All qualified students who passed the preliminary test shall report to the Student Council office.

Students from all over Helios gathered in front of the announcement board.

"Did you received an invitation?"

"I received one! Oh my gosh!"

"I didn't received it, too bad"

Students all voiced their opinions out. Some of them where feeling disappointed na hindi naka tanghap ng inivitation and some of them are celebrating that they were able to qualified.

I sighed and shook my head silently. It's actually kinda unfair to those na hindi naka tanggap. Like, the rights they should have was snatched away from them. Entering the competition might help them shine a bit more and prove their talents but unfortunately kaylangan sumunod sa rules ng institution.

Allison on the other hand, since I was from Student Council and we were the ones who handled all the invitations, I knew for sire sje got one for herself

While the participants for this year's tournament are busy preparing, I and Pres are stuck inside this cold Student Council office and working our *** out.

We have to make sure that everything will flow smooth and mistakes aren't allowed. What can I do? I luckily got myself a very perfectionist President.

Truth to be told, I've been feeling really hungry . Like ugh, can I leave just a moment to buy myself some foods? This ice block president is too damn insensitive.

I gritted my teeth as I fiercely tapped on my keyboard typing all this undying documents. I don't know if he sensed it but a piece of bread was thrown on my table. I raised my brows and looked at him in confusion.

"Heard your tummy's rumbling" Because of my hunger and annoyance, I didn't notice that my tummy's been rumbling. I blushed and bit my lower lip. Damn!

Contrary to my pride, I grabbed the piece of bread and ate it without hesitation.

"Cadis Rahiro" I mumbled as I read the name of a certain man. He was the previous student council president before President Cloydd Rios and this institution's number 1.

His records are unbelievably amazing, as if he was not a human at all. I blinked as I read the minor details about him. He's also going to participate in this year's tournament and I doubt someone can take his spot away. I clicked my tongue.

The student council, lead by President with me one step behind him on his left side walked along the hallway. The treasurer, secretary and PIO was behind me while the 3-man peace and order committee was behind them.

I don't know if it's because of the intimidating auras of the student council that the surrounding students will stop their business and looked at our direction.

I am not so good in reading people's facial gestures but I can somewhat sense that their gazes were full of curiosity. I also feel that some of them were acting intimidated and are afraid to make any noise that will caught our attention.

It's not a new occurrence whenever us, the student council committee, walked in the middle of numerous students.

I smiled when I saw Allison waved her hand towards my direction.

As we made our way along the hallway, a commotion reached our line of sights. I frowned as we get closer to the commotion. The students that saw us immediately scattered on the sidelines and let us pass through.

I blinked twice when I saw the situation. My heart skipped a beat when I saw a tall man with oppressive aura standing in the middle while a pretty girl was eyeing him like his was the biggest scumbag she ever saw in her life.

I twitched. Now now, what do we have here hmm?

"What happened?" President Cloydd asked with cold voice. Senior Cadis turned his head and nonchalantly threw a quick glance at President Cloydd.

Oi oi, is this a clash between two ice-block?

"Who are you guys?" The pretty girl asked. Her voice was lovely and soothing, a sense of carefreeness can be felt.

A girl behind her tugged her uniform and whispered. The girl frowned and looked at us. She was gritting her teeth as if she experienced grievance. "The student council? I am sorry for not knowing it but as you can see, this man right here bumped unto my friend and which made her spoil her drink unto her clothes."

She spoke with voice full of pity. "Then, I asked him if he could compensate her for it or kahit sorry na lang man, but you knew what happened? He just acted cold as if nothing happened and was about to leave."

She breathed in and continued. "I really don't know which part of it I did wrong that almost the people here turned a blind eye! Acting as if they saw nothing! But you know what's worst? They were calling us names for causing a ruckus over such petty incident"

I pursed my lips and threw a glance at Senior Cadis Rahiro. This girl is truly naive. Does she not know who's this man she's pointing her finger to? I sighed. "Who are you? Do you know who's the man you're talking to?"

The PIO stepped forwards as she looked at the pretty girl from head to toe. The girl raised her brows "I am Lily Ferrer. So what if I don't?"

A Transferee..

"A transferee" President and I both said in unison, though mine was only in my thoughts. "Student Ferrer, I am asking you to let things slide for now and we will.." Lucas also stepped and asked the girl politely but the girl didn't let him finished his sentence. The girl frowned "What? You guys are siding with him? Is this how the student council works?"

I frowned. How dare she question us?

The students around us also gasped. The Secretary, Mary and the Treasurer Leo both frowned. The PIO, Jenny stepped forward and frowned deeper. "Student Ferrer, who do you think you are to question how we do our work?!"

This Jenny is rather hot headed, a typical spoiled brat. "Why? It's a free country and whatever concerns I have, I am free to voiced it out. Are you guys used to looking down on us?"

I remained silent as I studied the girl. As from her way of speaking and mannerism, there's no doubt that she's an idiotic brave girl. I sighed and shook my head. "Student Ferrer, it is indeed a free country and voicing opinions is free however, there's this called proper and systematic process in doing so. Do you think our country, Spade, will let anyone voice their observation-based accusations without proper evidence?"

I stepped forwards as I slowly spoke. I smiled and tilted my head. "We from the student council have done our duties without flaws for we are held responsible when trouble comes. Do you think such a petty ruckus will affect our judgment? Do you think, we from the student council will turn blind eye in every occurrence in this institution?"

I sighed and smiled again "Being brave is a good thing Student Ferrer but what you did is not bravery but idiocy. I advised you to weigh things carefully before spouting such words" I smiled.

I noticed the students around us nodded their heads and some shook it. They knew that I hated it when people questions our ways of doing our duties.

President Cloydd remained silent and listened to my words. While the girl looked at me stunned as she bit her lower lips. I smiled "Student Ferrer, it's not like I'm reprimanding you. Since you just got here and don't know the rules yet, we'll make an exemption for you. But I hope the next time you say those words, be made sure that you can provide the proper evidences"

I smiled. I glanced towards Senior Rahiro and slightly bowed my head. Such man is someone you can't offend. I feel kinda pity for this pretty girl for bumping such dangerous man. "In behalf of Student Ferrer, I apologize for the inconvenience it caused you Senior Rahiro. I, Helena Fabian, will take responsibility for whatever your demands are. I apologize"

It's not that I am acting all saint and hero but this is a proper custom I had learned from my pops. It's okay to attached yourself and make connections to someone in power and it's also okay to lower your head down if you see there's no way for you to act brave.

To retreat is to advance, learn to give in order to gain, that's the whole scheme of life works.

Senior Rahiro didn't bother to say a single word and nonchalantly left the place with nose pointed to heavens.

I sighed and took a glance at President Cloydd. He nodded his head and indicated Lucas and company to fix the mess.

He lead us to leave the place. Mary stood on my side and tugged my uniform "Vice Pres, just what on earth was that? Is it really okay to bare the responsibility in behalf of that transferee?" She asked.

I smiled and sighed "It's okay. I don't think Senior Rahiro will bother about such minor issue."

Mary nodded her head "Sabagay. Anyway, you felt it too right? That girl, something's wrong with her! She actually dare to accuse us!"

Mary said between her teeth. She's obviously very pissed right now. "That's natural. She's a a transferee and obviously still ignorant on how the whole institution works"

Leo who was behind us said in chorus. I smiled "Of course. I actually admire her boldness though" Mary chuckled "I know right! If it were me, I would've already cried. It was fckn Seniro Rahiro we're talking men"

"Are you guys nuts? As what Vice Pres said a while ago, that wasn't bravery, that was idiocy! That girl! Just where on this world did she come from?!" Jenny was still angry. If Jenny is the President's admirer, Jenny is also Senior Rahiro's number 1 supporter.

I and Mary giggled. Jenny always admire men with excellent talent, background and most of all outstanding appearance.

"The name's Helena Fabian, I command thee..

Awaken..!"

I thought as I slowly felt the changes in my body. My blood's boiling like a coiling dragon and as my body produced a loud single thump.

I slowly open my eyes as I slightly raised my hands to feel the changes in me.

"I think this year's tournament will be a little interesting"

Lucas who was seating across me grinned as he scanned thru the list of participants. I raised my brows "How could you say so?"

Lucas stood and went beside me as he showed me the documents. I frowned as I saw a familiar name on the list "Lily Ferrer? She's competing too? How?"

As far as I can remember, Lily is just a transferee and hindi nya na naabutan ang preliminaries for the tournament. "En. I also want to know" I was slightly taken a back when I noticed Lucas face was just a few inches away from mine.

The moment I turned my head I almost kissed his cheek. And speaking of his face, Lucas face is really too handsome. His tall nose and thins lips. His eyelashes were long and slightly curved. His face was to dazzling that I almost choke.

I snapped when I realize I've been staring at him for too long. I lightly cleaned my throat and took a glance at President Cloydd. I showed him the paper with inquiring eyes. "Pres, do you know about this?"

He coldly threw a quick glance at me and nodded his head "En. The council made an exemption for her since she had the talent and ability"

I sighed in my thoughts. I might be over thinking things but I just found it a little unfair. The preliminaries was done by them and checked by them multiple times in order to determine if qualified ba ang isang student to participate.

I feel like, all of those were futile since the council has the final say wether a student is qualified or not. I don't have anything against Student Ferrer but I just think it's quite unfair sa mga Student na dumaan sa tamang proseso even though we already knew how capable they are.

I shrugged my shoulders and resume to my work. The tournament's in 2 days time and our schedule is getting tighter and tighter. Aside from the secretary, treasurer and PIO, we are not allowed to participate in the competition.

As the President was in charge of the over all organization while I am to assist him, the Peace and order committee are also responsible for the safety and security.

"By the way, I had already talked to the council about the forces you'll be needing, Lucas." I smiled as I informed Lucas. Lucas nodded his head "Thanks Vice, I only need at least 2 people for Andrew and Niko. And that's all"

I nodded. "Well, everything should be fine already right? Well, if something unexpected happens, Pres and I can be of assistance though"

I just hope nothing big will happen.

"Helena!"

Allison waved her hand as soon as she saw me. She walked towards my direction with a smile plastered on her face. "Wow! Why do I feel like it's getying hard neeting you these past few days?"

She asked, I rolled my eyes "What else? Student Council's duties and such. Ahh, I barely had the time to rest ." Allison hugged me and patted my back "It must been hard Vice President"

I chuckled and pushed her off of me. "Yes and that is why you must do your best" Allison giggled and wrapped her arms on mine. "En. But please don't expect too much from me though. You know my capabilities"

"Of course. I actually kinda feel sorry for you. I couldn't join and accompany you during practice. I should have been with you and lend some of my knowledge" I pouted

"Nah it's fine. I understand your situation. By the way, I heard a very interesting news"

Oh here's the gossip queen again. "Oh? What is it this time?" Allison grinned and pulled me towards and empty seat. "Still remember Lily Ferrer?" I nodded and she continued "She's one of the participants!"

I raised my brows "I already know that" Allison shook her head and added "You know that part but do you know why?" I frowned "Because she's capable?"

Allison rolled her eyes "Of course not! A part of Institution Council is her uncle"

Without her continuing I kind of guessed the important part "It's not right to assume things based on what you saw and heard."

Allison grinned "I know okay? But you know me Helena, I have insiders"

I stayed silent and pondered about it. Allison may not look like it but she got some connections inside the institution due to her family background. And almost all of her informations are reliable.

"Parang kaylan lang but she was able to get a quite big attention in just a short span of time" Allison added which I agreed to, silently.

Lily Ferrer, she's quite something. A transferee and is already the center of attention.

I sighed. "Ah! I'm sorry! I forgot! It's my training time!" Allison suddenly blurted. "Oh? Then what are you still idling for?"

Allison gave an apologetic smile "Ugh just when I finally got to bond with you again. What a bad timing. I'm so sorry Helema, but I promised, I'll make it up to you next time. Bye!"

Allison hurriedly bid her goodbye and ran as fast as she could. I shook my head and chuckled.

My gaze landed on my feet as I was kicking the pebbles below me. Feeling bored by this little actions, I raised my head and my eyes landed on a familiar figure.

My heart, once again, skipped a beat. Cadis Rahiro. His aura is really to oppressive that it makes me hard to breath. Thinking about how that Lily was able to face this guy head on made me admire her.

It was quick and almost unnoticeable but I met his cold gaze. My reflexes made me avert my gaze as soon as it met his. I really can't stand this aura of his. I bit my lower lip and quickly left the place.

My steps were unsteady and my knees are somewhat weak that I almost stumbled unto someone. I frowned as I tried regaining my composure. "Are you alright?" A cold voice sounded close to my face. I froze and lifted my head.

"President" I mumbled as I immediately took a step back.

Wow, if luck has it! Of all the people, why does it have to be this man? If I can't stand the sight of Senior Rahiro, I must say I can't stand getting close to President Cloydd.

"Yes. Just now, I'm sorry, I wasn't looking"

I said as I hang my head low. "En. Be careful" He answered and left. I turned my head and watched his retreating back. I pursed my lips and sighed.

"It's the day already?" Pops asked as he sipped on his cup of coffee. I nodded and sat beside him. Today's the day of the tournament and I woke up earlier than usual so I got enough to time to savor my breakfast.

"Yeah, fortunately it was organized well. I'm just hoping, nothing will happen" I said before drinking my glass of milk.

"En. Anyways, is Allison going to compete too?" Pops asked. Allison had been to this house several times already and pops already met her so he know her. "Yeah, I just hope she'll do well later"

"That's for sure. Are the new comers that strong? Or so so?" I tilted my head and nodded "Yeah, there are potential strong competitors but we'll see"

As soon as I finished my breakfast, I bid my goodbye to pops and headed to Helios. I ate a lot today because I know I will be needing a lot of strength for laters event.

Upon arriving in front of the institution, I stepped out of the car and my gaze roam.

It's quite lively already. It's rare for the students to be at Helios this early so I kinda got surprised.

Though this Tournament will run for almost a month, being early on the first day is really fun.

I headed towards the technical room where we're supposed to gather. We'll both have our entrance together, except for the treasurer, secretary and PIO.

From here, I can hear the loud cheers of the crowd gathered inside the Arena that even though I am not a participant, just those cheers gaves me excitement.

"It's about to start, shall we?" Lucas spoked. I smiled and nodded my head.
