Once Upon a Summer

My unchanging daily life

I am Sara Lee, I'm just an average girl with an average look, I am 15 years old and currently in highschool.. At a young age of 10 I learned to earn money by gathering dry woods and sell it, selling ice candies for someone and get 10% from it, do housekeeping and get paid and a lot more.. even selling cow's poop as fertiliser.... through this I am able to send myself to school, that's right, I send myself to school alone, my father doesn't give me a penny while he pamper my younger sister, he would buy her new dresses everyday, and send her to the best school in our town, while I struggle everyday just to earn a penny, going to school without food in my stomach to the point of almost fainting, , my mother gave me money secretly because if father knows he will beat me saying I don't deserve it ... Just why... Why life is so unfair, why would he treat me this way, never would there be a day that he won't beat me or yell at me, sometimes I doubt if I really am his daughter because he treats me differently like I'm someone irrelevant... Am I not his daughter? Sigh no matter how many times I asked myself this I couldn't find my answers, that's why I just keep silent..

It's Sunday and it's another long day today.. My itinerary for today is to gather dry woods and sell it and go to aunt May's house in the afternoon to help her do chores (Aunt May has been very kind to me, in the past she would bandage my wounds everytime my father beat me, she would offer me food when she knows I haven't eaten yet, she was always there when I'm in trouble, she's the kindest person I know in our town, that's why in return I always made time to help her do chores although I always ended up getting paid even though I refused her numerous time, she is so stubborn in paying me, she truly is the kindest) I put on my jacket, wear my boots, grab my axe and went into the forest, it's only 1 kilometer away from our house so it's not that far... Our house is located in the foot of a small hill at the end of our small town away from the neighbourhood but not that far, father choose this spot because he doesn't like our noisy neighbours especially early in the morning when people opened their windows and greet each other, when streets are already filled with laughter from childrens playing, when aunt Judy call his son to wake him up with her voice as loud as a mega phone or when the vendors selling pandesal(a popular filipino bread roll, which Filipinos always look for every morning in partner with hot coffee) Yelling in the street "Pandesal" as loud as they can...haha remembering those times are quite relaxing it makes me feel alive, but now... Sigh... I really miss that busy street in our town...
