Before the great war, the demon realm and the human realm  lived in harmony, but that all changed when the demons attacked. The demons wanted to rule over the humans with absolute power. The humans got the help of the goddess race to end the war. About 100 years later, a demon named Ichi came to the human realm, not seeking war but seeking a friend. After the war, the demon realm became a bare wasteland. Ichi had found a little boy around the same age as her, and his name was Shoto. They became great friends, and even fell in love. On the girl's 18th birthday she discovered that she was pregnant with the boy's child. The other demons also found out that she was pregnant and they tried to execute her. Thankfully she escaped to the human realm with her love and her new born son.

14  years later

Out on a mountain far off from any humans, there was a little cabin where Ichi and Shoto lived. There they could live in peace within the human realm. Their son’s name is Bato and he is now 14 years old. On one hot summer day Bato looks at his reflection in the water, wondering why he is so different compared to his dad.

“Hey dad, why am I so different?” Bato now has tears dripping down his face. As the ground gets wet from his tears, Shoto smiles and says

“ you are not different, you are just special” as Shoto wipes the tears of his son’s face Ichi calls out

“ time for dinner you two”.

“ coming mom”

As they both run inside Bato calls out

“ hey dad, when can I see the humans?” Shoto doesn’t  know how to respond, instead he smiles and keeps walking.

When Shoto and Bato return inside to eat dinner ichi, who was still setting out all the food, begins to ask Bato about his day when she gets rudely interrupted by honk outside. Ichi is quite startled by the loud noise and almost falls out of her seat. Since Ichi is a demon and Bato is half demon neither of them can show themselves to humans other than  Shoto because the last time that a human saw Ichi it ran away in fear. After the second honk went off they sent Shoto to go and see what all the noise was. It turns out that there was a house being built on the other side of the mountain and the humans in the car were coming over to say hello to their new nabors. The only problem was that they had no idea that the family that was living there included two demons.

After Shoto met the family of  humans, whose names were Tobi and Sakura( Sakura is the mother of  Tobi) Bato got tired of waiting so he stepped outside and showed himself to Tobi and Sakura. Sakura was not as observant as Tobi so she just thought he was cosplaying, but Tobi knew immediately that Bato was real. Upon knowing about Bato he ran and jumped into his arms, and gave him a big hug. Tobi always loved demons, he would read manga and watch anime and other TV shows about demons so when he saw Bato it was like a dream come true for him.
