A Dark Spring

Chapter One

"Seriously? Why us?"

Said Kairos Blackwell and August Bishop pointing at each other.

"Because you guys fought the second the graduation ceremony started," the teacher said.

"He started it!" Kairos objected.

"No I did not. I simply asked you to move because your too tall," August calmly replied.

"You were being sarcastic!" Kairos fumed.

"No I was not," August stated.

"Well I don't care. You two are still cleaning up the school this afternoon," the teacher insisted.

"What?! With him?" Kairos complained.

The teacher rolled her eyes and left. Kairos scratched his head and looked over at August to see him leaving as well.

"Hey! Where are you going? Don't tell me your planning to just leave," Kairos nagged.

"I'm getting us cleaning materials," August assured.

"Oh. . ."

"Well don't just stand there like a big statue. Help me get them," August nagged.

"Yeah yeah. I'm coming," Kairos said.

They got their materials and started to clean the hallways. That was the last time they saw each other at school.

August Bishop is a blonde boy with a normal body but he's never known to be weak. He thinks everything through and is always rational. He does have one weakness which is his trust issues. Dysfunctional family problems.

Kairos Blackwell is a dark haired blue eyed boy with a strong body build and a good stamina. He's known to be temperamental and usually acts by his emotions. That is his weakness. Dysfunctional family problems also.

The two never got along in school but unfortunately got paired together for the whole school year.

Nothing happened between them and just got closer for a year.

After school, they just went their separate ways and never met each other again or that's what they thought.

A woman approached the bar, sat down clearly upset about something.

"I'll have an Aunt Roberta," she said.

"My lady, that's pretty strong. Having a rough day?" the bartender said.

"Pretty much. It happens when your date is a temperamental boy," she replied.

"What's your name, M'lady?" the bartender asked.

"Alice. You?" she answered.

"Call me August," the bartender handed Alice her drink.

"Nice name. You look too smart to work at a bar," Alice commented.

"How so? I think I'm good at it?" August chuckled.

"You could do better," Alice said.

"Well this is not my only job," August said.

"Good for you then. See you around," Alice said, paid her drink and left.

"Pfft. A temperamental boy. Reminds me of someone," August laughed.

"Were you flirting with my girl?" someone approached August.

"No. Just serving her drinks and being nice sir," August replied.

"Didn't seem like it," the guy insisted.

"Temperamental indeed," August whispered under his breath.

"What did you say?" the guy snarled.

"Nothing sir-" August stared at him.

"What?!" the guy exclaimed.

"Kairos Blackwell?" August asked.

"Wait a damn minute. August Bishop?" he replied back.

"It is you. That explains the word 'temperamental' coming up," August laughed.

"What do you mean by that?" Kairos said.

"Nothing. Whatever," August rolled his eyes.

Chapter Two

"I'll have The Manhattan," Kairos said.

"Coming right up," August replied.

"So you do work here?" Kairos exclaimed.

"And what if I do?" August rolled his eyes.

"You? A bartender?" Kairos mocked him.

"It pays a lot of money though," August said.

"Is this your only job?" Kairos asked.

"Of course not. I am a journalist, a freelance writer and I have a blog," August answered.

"So you basically just write or make drinks?" Kairos said.

"Yeah. So what's your job?" August said.

"I work at Lovelix," Kairos announced.

"The modeling company? I haven't seen you in a magazine though," August wondered.

"Of course I don't model. Dumbäss," Kairos snarled.

"So you work in an office job? You?" August mocked.

"Are you mocking me?!" Kairos growled.

"You did it first," August stated.

"Whatever," Kairos rolled his eyes.

Kairos sat down properly and watched August worked. He was surprised at how meticulous August works.

Suddenly, August disappeared and Kairos saw him go through the exit. He unconsciously followed August without even knowing why.

August started to walk faster and so did Kairos. After a while, August just stopped walking altogether. Kairos approached him to ask why.

"Hey, why'd you stop-"

August took out his taser and electrocuted Kairos out of reflex and when he realized that it was Kairos.

"Kairos you idiot," August growled.

August had no choice but to bring him home since it's the middle of the night and he didn't know the address of Kairos.

Kairos woke up in a couch and it definitely was not his apartment. And for some reason, his abdomen hurts.

"You finally wake up. Get out of my apartment. I have an appointment today," August said.

Kairos quickly sat up and looked at himself.

"What happened last night?" Kairos asked.

"I don't know. But tell me why I found your ãss passed out at the front of my door. Don't tell me you were following me," August lied.

"What? No! I never followed you," Kairos exclaimed.

"Really? Then why were you-"

"Alright. I'll make it up to you. But it doesn't mean I followed you," Kairos cut off August.

"Whatever. Just leave. I have to meet someone in two hours," August said.

Kairos checked his watch and was surprised.

"Shït! Me too," Kairos said.

"Then leave," August said.

"Can I borrow any of your clothes?" Kairos begged.

"I have no clothes your size," August said.

Kairos opened his phone and dialed someone. He talked for a minute and picked up his things.

"Anyways, thanks for letting me stay in your apartment," Kairos said.

"It's just basic human decency," August brushed it off.

"I will pay you back but for now I have to go. I promise I will. Dinner on me tonight," Kairos said.

"You don't even know my number-"

Kairos left hurriedly leaving August dazed.

"That bãstard. I better see him at the bar or I will hunt his ãss down," August shook his head.

Chapter Three

Kairos sat in his office waiting for his interviewer for the company popularity.

"Vice President Blackwell, our guest has come," his assistant said.

"Let them in," Kairos said fixing his posture.

The guest came in and they were both in shock.

"Are you sure it's him?" Kairos asked his assistant.

"Yes sir. He is from the Freedom Writers Company," his assistant answered.

"Okay. You may leave now," Kairos sighed.

The assistant left and the two stared at each other.

"Kairos Blackwell, the vice president of the Lovelix company. Pleasure to meet you," Kairos introduced himself.

"August Bishop, a writer from Freedom Writers. Thank you for the beautiful welcome," August said.

"Yes. Please sit down. Would you like any drinks?" Kairos said.

"No thank you. I drank enough coffee on my way," August answered.

"Great. So about that-"

"Yes. So tell me, what inspired the company name 'Lovelix'?" August cut him off.

"The name was inspired by my the CEO's daughter. It was all her idea. According to her, 'love' pertains to how people will love this company. And she added the suffix 'lix' to give a complicated image of the company," Kairos answered.

"What an adorable child," August commented.

"Yes. But she says she regrets naming the company," Kairos chuckled.

"I heard that this company started from the very bottom with nothing. How did you make it so successful?" August asked.

"Well the magician never reveals his secrets but if I had to say something, it would be the patience and perseverance we put into the company," Kairos answered.

August asked more questions and Kairos answered in confidence except for one question.

"You're been a hot topic lately among the girls. Do you have anything to say about that? And another famous question is how is your relationship status?" August asked.

"That's a good question. I guess I am glad that I'm popular among the women but even though I'm single, I am not available," Kairos said.

"Do you have your eyes on someone?" August asked once more.

"Maybe. . ." Kairos scratched his head.

"I see. Well thank you for giving me the time today," August said.

"Is that it?" Kairos asked.

"Yes. Why?" August asked back.

"So about the dinner, is it still up?" Kairos asked.

"Of course yes. It's free for me after all," August smiled.

"Great. You're my last appointment for today which is good," Kairos said.

"Where are we eating?" August asked.

"At my apartment," Kairos said.

"Are you serious?" August questioned Kairos.

"Yes. Why?" Kairos asked back.

"Do you even know how to cook?" August teased.

"Oh please. I'm better than you," Kairos said.

"Last time I met you, you burned a boiled egg. I still wonder how you did it?" August mocked.

"Just shut up and follow me. I promise I got better," Kairos insisted.

"Whatever you say," August said.

"You really don't trust me huh?" Kairos stared at August.

"Why would I? You don't even trust me?" August stared back.

"What a brãt," Kairos looked away.
