“Mr. Princeton, please pay attention!” My tutor, Ms Blithe practically yells at me.

I roll my eyes, we’ve been covering the history of werewolves for over two hours and she still expects me to pay attention.

“Are you listening to me?” Ms Blithe glares in my direction.

“Of course,” I say sarcastically, tapping my fingers on my desk.

Suddenly, the marching of feet catch my attention, and I looked up, my teacher was human so she didn’t hear the noise unlike me.

The door handle slowly turned and a woman marched in, I stared at the woman, my mother with disgust, but even so I still bowed in her presence as did Ms Blithe.

“You may leave,” my mother says to my teacher. “Aren’t you going to offer me a seat?” She asked after Ms Blithe left.

I nod pointing to a chair across from me.

I stared at my mother, her light brown hair, which I had inherited, was held in a tight bun and her blue eyes watched me intently. After and awkward silence, my mother finally spoke. “Any luck in finding your mate?” She was still watching me, hoping my answer is yes.

“Not yet” I respond, looking down.

She sighed looking disappointed.

My mother had lost her mate in the the war with the vampires 15 years ago, I was just two at the time. After the war, I was confined to the mansion, I guess she didn’t want me to get hurt, that was what I thought until I finally went to the village and saw the state it was in. The houses had cracks everywhere and everybody in the village was starving. Apparently, my mother was using the funds of the village to plot another war on the vampires.

Suddenly, a man enters the room and bows to my mother.

“Alpha, the Vampires are here to discuss the demons.” The man said looking pale. What about the demons? And why would the vampires be here?

“Alright then,” my mother responded getting up, “I’ll see you again later, Caleb.” She left the room leaving me alone.

After a few minutes of wondering my curiosity got the best of me and I decided to follow my mother and eavesdrop on them. Normally I would be able to hear everything from my room, but there’s a protective charm on that room that prevents me from using my senses.

As I made my way downstairs, something sweet filled my nose, I started to followed the scent, instead of trying to eavesdrop. The scent led me outside of our mansion and into the gardens. Standing by the big tree was a god like handsome man. He was the one giving off the sweet scent! The man had shoulder length silver hair and as he noticed my presence he turned around revealing emerald green eyes, which slowly were turning red.

The man was a vampire. My body started to tremble, the man had a dark aura and was clearly very powerful, my powers were no match for his. Even though had never met this vampire, my body started moving subconsciously towards the man, feeling drawn. A sudden realization hit me, “mate...” I mumbled very quietly.
