I am now on my way home from school with my books, notebooks, and other school supplies. I was walking while looking down so I didn’t notice the person who was walking in front, because our shoulders hit each other causing my belongings to fall on the floor. I quickly apologized for it and picked up my belongings scattered on the floor. I thought the one I met had left when I apologized but he stayed and helped me pick up my belongings.
I invited him home as a thank you for the help he provided and also apologized for what had happened. I fully thought he would refuse but the opposite happened because he gladly accepted my invitation.
I didn't expect our friendship to start there.
Two years have passed and I am here now lying in a hospital bed while he is sitting next to my bed holding my hands. We are the only two here now in the room because I want to talk to him without disturbance.
"Did I tell you why I brought so many things that day?" I said.
"You haven't told me yet, is there a reason why you brought so much that day?" He asked with a smile.
"That day I plan to take home all my school supplies because that's the day I just want to finish everything." I said with a smile on my face.
"…" He didn't speak and just stared at me so I just continued what I was going to say.
“That was the day I decided to end my life. I often got bullied in school so sometimes I just don't want to go because I already know what will happen. I don't have a friend to defend me when someone bullies me or someone to talk to when I'm having a hard time, so I can say you're my very first friend. That was also the day when I found out that my life was not important anymore so I just wanted to finish everything because I was tired, I was so tired and I just wanted to rest. ” I said with sadness in my voice.
“Thank you because even just for a moment I was the happiest because of you. I am grateful because I experienced having a friend even if it is just for a moment. Thank you for everything, my dear friend. ” I said with a smile on my lips.
Her last words were “my dear friend” before her eyes gradually closed and never opened again
