Johan wasn't a coffee drinker but now he needed one. 30 days assignment had now to be done and submitted in 9 days! He heads downtown to a newly opened cafe. His friend, Rahn, had recommended it to be his favourite place.
Zarah, on the other hand, whipped the sweat by her sleeves. Trying hard to keep up with the line of customers.
Johan looked up to see a line infront of him. Waiting for hours, he finnaly got his order and sat at one of the table. He looked down at the cup filled with the dark fluid beneath a thick layer of marshmallow. There was a message written on the white foam. 'Enjoy ♡'.
He smiled and took a sip. What he did know was that he fell for the taste as well as for someone behind that coffee.
He couldn't stop looking at the lady that was so elegantly serving dozens and dozens of coffee. It looked like as if she were a fairy waving her magic wand and the appliances following her command. 'Zarah', was her name as written on her tag.
He realized he was staring at her for too long, for her gazes met his. Zohan immediately took out his phone and dailed any person on his contact list. To his ill luck, it was his mother who was on the line. "Hello Zozo. Is everything alright?"
As if everything that had happened wasn't embarrassing enough, his phone was actually on speaker. Everyone inside the cafe were now watching his act. Some burst into laughter while others tried to hold it in. Among the customers, one stood up and shouted. "Hey Zozo! Don't you wanna answer your mommy?" This time the ones who were holding in too chirped into laughter.
At the very moment, someone spoke up. "Zozo? Babe? Who was that? I suppose you can tell me and maybe i can spill their beans intot he trash can and put in back intot heir cups." Everyone's including Zohan's eyes followed the voice. There standing behimd the counter, stood the beautiful barista with her phone in her hand.
Everyone's jaw dropped at the site. "Babe? Can we talk later? Mommy is busy." Zohan just nodded and ended the call with his mother while Zarah pretended to end the call too. She winked at her new admirer and headed back to her work.
Zohan was brough back to reality by a tap on his shoulder. He turned is head to see the guy who had embarrased him earlier. "Hey. I'm sorry about earlier. But do you mind telling me how you got that hot barista to go out with you?" The stranger asked. Zohan felt his body heat up at the thought that everyone assumed Zarah was his girlfriend.
"Well... I met her through a cup of coffee." It wasn't a lie, he did meet her by ordering a coffee. The stranger was awed even though Zohan didn't know what was so assuming about that.
It took Zohan 2 hours and another 4 cups of coffee before he was finally able to get enough courage to stand and make his way to the cashier. Zarah was busy with another customer so he was relieved. But as soon as his turn came up, she was standing opposite to him. "So 5 cups of coffee? Do you really love coffee that much?" She casually asked as she received his card. "Um... yes." He answered while tring not to run away.
She returned his card and he made sure he didn't brush his hands when he took it from her. "Hey. Are you free this Sunday?" Zarah had made the first move. "Well. I do have a lots of assignments to be done. So i guess... no?" He replied and looked down in embarrassment. "What is the assignment about?"
"Its Business Finance." He bit his lips in nervousness. "You know what? I'm a Guinness in that stuff. I have 16 awards for being the top ranked student on Business Stream." Zohan couldn't believe it. A beauty with brain? "Wow!" The word left his lips.
She giggled at his reaction. "So friday? Right here at 9?" "I would like that." Zohan shook her hands that were stretched out to him upon her will. "See you the day I see you Zohan." She said before waving him off. Zohan didn't realise how she knew his name. He only realised it after he had left the cafe. But it didn't matter to him as much as his date that was just 2 days away.
