*Part I: The Day I Met Him*
I came dashing towards the hallway without exhaling the fear of being late. I knocked on the door hard and saw the teacher glaring at me for a second. She instantly changed her reaction and looked at me with a smile. With a grin, I entered the class, and everyone was looking at me like I am the only one in the sky shining brightly; they always do the same, so this wasn't something new for me.
Oh, well, in case if you don't know, I am Saffrina, college's most intelligent and popular student. Everyone loves me in the school, even teachers and my parents admire me as I am the smartest one they have ever seen.
During recess, I heard my best friends saying that a new boy is transferring to our college. Natasha, my friend looked at me with a smirk and said "I am sure that the guy's first friend will be our beloved Saffrina, after all, everyone is Saffrina's friend."
I winked at her with a smile and said "You know me well, bestie!" Natasha, my other best friends and I laughed loudly; it wasn't funny, but I still laughed, after all, *they won't like it if I will not laugh.*
The next day arrived, I wore one of my closest friend's favourite coloured dress. *I am sure she will love it when she will see me*. Soon, I reached my class and took my seat. A few minutes later, a boy came in front of everyone and greeted them with a hello. Natasha passed comment on him saying, "What the hell! I wanted the transfer student to be a hottie, not a stupid looking guy!" I didn't feel the same, but my bestie has passed such an opinion of hers, *of course, I shall accept it*. I rolled my eyes with a sigh and said in a high voice, "My expectations... Oh, this guy just broke it all." Everyone looked at me, so did the new guy. He gave me a disgusted look. If you think I cared about it, then let me tell you I don't give single attention to those people who aren't my friends, but the fact that my all classmates are my friends still keeps a red-stained mark on the statement "I don't care about those who aren't my friends.". In simple words, I care about what my classmates think.
The time for lunch break arrived, and I gathered around my friends. While eating, we unknowingly started to play Truth and Dare, and it was my turn. I chose Dare confidently, but it turned out to be one of my worst choices. I was dared to be friends with that new guy. Sulking in anger, I came in front of that guy, faked a smile and said, "Will you be my friend?"
That guy looked at me with disbelief and said, "But you said that I broke your expectations.''
"Oh, that was nothing, new guy! What's your name?"
"It's Ivan.''
"Nice name, I loved it." I faked another smile and said.
"I know you didn't."
"Huh? It's not like that-"
"Don't lie, I can feel the way you are smiling and talking to me; you don't want to be my friend either, it's okay." He stood up from his bench and was about to leave.
"How did you get that? Did you hear mine and my friends' talk?"
''I don't do such a type of cheap job, your eyes and smile spoke the truth." He left me dumbfounded near the bench.
The next day arrived, though he got to know that I don't want to be his friend, I have to complete my dare, *if I won't then I will be considered as a scaredy-cat by my friends.*
I asked about the friendship again, and he rejected it. I asked him again and again, and it took a whole week to convince him. One day, I came running towards the stage of our auditorium where half of the students of my college were gathered so did Ivan.
I took the mic from the announcer and asked taking a deep breath, "WILL YOU BE MY FRIEND, IVAN?"
I did this purposely, no one can reject someone in front of everyone, and rejecting a popular girl like me? Not possible! Even if he will, he will be the new topic in our college for being a dumb person. He looked at me with a shock. For a moment, he kept himself shut till everyone started to look at him. He shouted with a YES.
Woah, that was easy.
I thought that he accepted to be my friend because of the fear of getting rumoured, but little did I know that his intentions of making me his friend were different, so different that it completely changed me into a different person and gave hundreds of teachings. After all, dead people teach a lot, don't they?
